The hotel was well appointed and in a beautiful location. The bedding was really comfortable and the air conditioning was perfect. The beach and pools were fantastic.
The breakfast had lots to choose from however it ran out consistently so we had to ask the chefs to come out to refill rather than it being monitored. Egg station was great though. The hotel menu was limited on Malaysian cuisine and heavily waited towards western style food. There is lots of restaurants just a short stroll so definitely still spoilt for choice. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again.

Big and comfortable rooms. Amazing amenities (pool, beachfront, spa, cafes). The location was also perfect, you have absolutely everything close by but it is still very tranquil and private. But the best of all was the staff. Everyone was extremely nice and eager to help you enjoy your holidays. We would definitely return.

The location is beautiful on the beach and pool is lovely. Staff are fine but would be nice to see some proactive customer care on pool and beach?
Buffet breakfast is a shambles and left out omelettes at 945 when it closes at 1030
Isn’t great!
The place is lovely for a beach chilled resort and close to some great restaurants.

Dated but this also makes it quite homey and relaxing. Beautiful pools and gardens. Beach is clean and not very busy. Delicious and varied buffet breakfast.

After three nights we moved from second floor room with a nice sea and pool views above reception area, we moved due to AC issue to a ground level room on the south wing which was also good except for the wifi periodically stopped working. It had a bigger bathroom and easier access to the pool and beach so we didn’t move again even though they offered to move us back to the second floor as another room came available. For the inconvenience of having to move, we asked the manager for complementary buffet breakfasts for our two last mornings there and he agreed! We found all the staff helpful and friendly and would definitely recommend the resort to others.

For the price we paid unfortunately I was expecting more
Whilst the breakfast is varied I struggled to find food that was healthy and not carb heavy
Not the hotels fault but the sight of guests cutting bread without using cloths and the general scrum at breakfast was not great
We struggled on the first day to get a sunbed at the pooll. Guests were as usual putting towels on sunbeds v early but there was no monitoring of this behaviour and some towels stayed there all day with no guests using them.
The Beach Club area offers a better experience but again we had to get there early to get a sunbed. This is an extra cost and a smaller infinity pool than the main pool but a good size. In our case we paid it but better management of guests saving space round the pool would have helped.
There are no designated smoking areas so you could end up relaxing next to someone smoking throughout the day

Location good and walkable into the town but away from the noise
Would I stay here again at £155 a night - no. Below£100 possibly.

1. we were told at check-in that we didn't have a booking, despite the hotel having charged us the previous day. This process took 20 minutes to resolve. Sow check-ins and limited staff appeared to be normal.

2. the nicest part of the pool area is reserved for those who want to pay RM30/day extra.

3. the hotel prioritises large groups over families. For two of our five breakfasts it was impossible to find a table and all the food was empty or low stocked. Parts of the hotel would then be cordoned off for these corporate groups. I get that, but don't disadvantage your other paying guests.

4. some of the guests have no hygiene. I saw people lick their fingers and stick them in a sugar bowl, and take a bite of fruit, decide they didn't like it, and put it back on the buffet plate. Not the hotel's fault but unpleasant regardless.

5. the beach bar is nice but only has half of the menu available at the lunch times we were there. Service here was good, though.

6. buy food and drinks across the road at half the price. I'm OK with a convenience tax, but that is too much.

Other than that, an OK hotel for an OK price.

This hotel could definitely do with a lick of paint (and a few more power sockets in the rooms) but don’t let that distract you from this being an amazing place to stay.
The staff were so friendly & helpful, the grounds were beautiful & the location was great. Highly recommend a stay, you won’t regret it

Honest review for a 3* hotel

The hotels setting is wonderful as are the gardens and the beach ( although needs some serious clean up of plastic) the breakfast can be busy but is generally good with a vast choice of food. The pool is very good as is the glass bar it feels odd paying extra to use the pool there though. The thing that lets this hotel down is that it is described as a 4* the rooms are very tired with old iron furniture that would look nicer in my garden , pvc cushions that belong in the 70's. The king size bed isn't a king size bed it's 2 beds pushed together. The paintwork is old not crisp and sharp. The a/c works if you want the room to be fridge like as it is on or off you can't adjust it. The bathroom smelt musty on arrival and we where to find out why soon enough. If you turn of the A/C due to it being like fridge the bathroom extractor also will turn off. We also had a leak from the toilet which we pointed out and was sorted, we also had water dripping from the ceiling as you walked into the room so put a towel down as it was dangerous, housekeeping didn't even notice and get it attended to. The bar on the beach is hit and miss wether they have the food available that is listed on the menu. The staff however lacking in some departments are very polite and nearly always acknowledge you.

Absolutely perfect. Right on the beachfront with options for where to eat and swim. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind. Cocktails in the pool, drinks at the tropical beach bar, and a stellar dinner at the glass bar. The price is so reasonable! We loved that families could be shouting and having fun at the pool, while we were listening to live jams at the Tropical Beach Bar

Great location, fantastic service and facilities. Rooms unfortunately, very dated and in need of renovation and better cleaning. Great breakfast with many vegetarian & vegan options (my wife is vegan). Other than breakfast, vegan options non existent. Even the advertised ‘vegan wrap’ on the pool bar menu wasn’t vegan as it contained cottage cheese. No vegan options at the New Year Gala or Christmas Gala so we could not book and attend. All this said, we will be coming again because we really enjoyed our stay. I just hope the hotel read the review and make some small but needed changes.

There was plenty of parking available. We liked the spa, the pool bar/restaurant, the beach bar with seating. Our room had a good view onto the garden, it was a quiet room - well appointed. Food in the pool restaurant was good. It was a bit out of the way of the main activities in the town but we were quite pleased - you don't miss much! Overall a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is a good value for the money, especially if you travel with kids. The hotel has a private beach, the service was good. When booking through Expedia make sure you take screenshots. I originally booked with breakfast and have received confirmation through the Expedia link then few days before departure the Expedia link confirmation had no breakfast listed on it. I called them and was advised that the breakfast was only considered as a special request..At the hotel the breakfast was complimentary for all while I was there however “DO NOT RELY ON EXPEDIA CONFIRMATION LINK” screen shot your booking.

A good property for the price. It has a lovely pool and well maintained gardens. Breakfast was good with many options available. Rooms, whilst comfortable, are looking somewhat tired and in need of renovation, particularly bathrooms. The new infinity pool requires payment to use and very few people bother. Seems such a waste for a beautiful facility to sit empty. They need to drop this charge or make it adults only.

The hotel is wonderfully located on the beach. Plenty of beds on the beach and around the pools. The infinity pool is MR30 extra per person, but a drink is included. We didn't feel the need to pay for this as the beach was great. We didn't eat at the hotel, the main strip is about 20-30 min walking distance with plenty of places to eat. Bobi's is 5 min away and i would recommend there. Rooms are clean but overall dated. For what we paid it was great.

Stayed at the hotel for a week and a half. The view from the room is beautiful and the hotel has 2 swimming pool one of them is infinity which is MR 30.00 per day. Also has a jacuzzi which is nice and plenty sund beds by the pool and beach. However the service is not great as there not flexible at all, the breakfast was the same thing every day no local dishes I got fed up of seeing the same menu. Songs at the lobby and the pool also the same every day. Heard the same song more than 5 time. Parking is available for free. Good location and plenty of shops around. If you’re on a budget and looking for location this is suitable.

Good value, spacious accommodation with a charming retro character, offering a fine sandy private beach and outdoor swimming pools and sunbathing facilities. There is a good range of reasonably priced food and drinks available on site. Amazing sunset is a spectacle which draws residents onto the fine sandy beach.

It is a little disappointing for us to have experienced somewhat slow service ( over 20 minutes for our breakfast ) around 8 am, in the Cafe next to the Reception. Quality of the mocktail drinks is also underwhelming in the poolside restaurant as they tasted bland and watery.

Overall we feel the resort offers good value facilities for a relaxing holiday next to a tropical beach.

Location was every thing, property a little dated, limited facilities, pool bar closed, but beach bar fabulous, would have been nice if opened for coffee in the morning. Beautiful restaurant and infinity pool, but you had to pay to use the infinity pool which I thought was a bit off as it was part of the resort and facilities, the common pool was fantastic tho and would have been better if pool bar had been open. Location made up for everything tho. Staff super nice and friendly grounds kept stunning, breakfast terrible.

Ideal resort for a family beachfront stay!

Holiday Villa Resort (Room 163):

PROS:
1. Nice beachfront and pool bars with plenty of available lounge chairs;
2. Awesome large swimming pools with deep ends;
3. Massive, well-maintained property with great landscaping;
4. Perfect location – walk anywhere in Pantai Tengah and only about 25-30 minute walk to Pantai Chenang;
5. Room has attached balcony with table & chairs;
6. Nice bathroom/sink;
7. Secure/bolted safe deposit box to store valuables;
8. Room has workstation/chair;
9. Friendly, helpful staff throughout the resort;
10. Large community chess board in hotel lobby;
11. Great sunsets from the beach;
12. 24hr on-site café and room service;
13. AMEX, Visa, and digital payments accepted;
14. Do not disturb sign available.

CONS:
1. ’King’ beds are 2 twin beds pushed together, resulting in a much smaller bed with an uncomfortable gap in the middle;
2. Very slow WiFi – I often chose to use my mobile data instead;
3. Aircon always cold even if you adjust the temperature and fan settings – I had to turn the aircon system off/on at intervals to keep an ideal room temperature;
4. Only 1 available power point in the room, and it’s not near the bed/nightstands;
5. Poor soundproofing between doors and outside/hallway;
6. Water smells of rust/metal;
7. Pool jacuzzi isn’t heated;
8. La Villa restaurant food isn't good (I tried several food items);
9. Shower glass partition isn’t sufficiently long enough to keep water off bathroom floor;
10. Room deposit required upon check-in.

I wanted a quiet beach-front relaxing weekend and that is exactly what I got. The staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was amazing and the staff were experienced - what a treat! The beach was clean and well-maintained with a small cafe to order snacks and drinks. The main restaurant overlooks the beach and it was a lovely setting to eat dinner and watch the sun go down. The food was good enough - nothing amazing (first-world living has spoiled me probably) but good food. I'd go back as it was excellent value for money.

On the whole the stay was good, the property is looking a little run down and things like the swim up bar were closed, there is a club area where you can swim and order drinks from, but there is a daily surcharge for this which makes no sense as it is all part of the resort. The beach bar area was good, but closes too early.

Took so long wait at check in. Went around 3pm and room isn't ready. Came back at 5pm and yet still the rooms are not cleaned yet. FO MANAGER is very rude and threatened me. Instead of fixing the problem, he blamed in on house keeping staff. Really disappointing to have got a bad service and being rude to us.

Check-in time was after 2pm. Came at 2pm. Booking was made and fully paid a week earlier. After a very massive long queue, it was my turn and I paid RM100 for deposit. Unfortunately, no rooms are readily available until further notice. Been advised by Manager of Maintenance, once the room ready they will give a call. We went out for late lunch. Got call for room availability at 5.35pm, arrived at the hotel lobby at 6.05pm but still no room for us. No staff was seen to attend the guests at the reception counter. Waited until 7.40pm and finally a part timer named Amelia managed a room for us. She handled us patiently and kept on apologising to us unlike her seniors. Waited some more outside the designated room for the housekeepers to change all the linen and stuff. Later on the very same day, heard lots of other guests were like me. These were due to unreliable hotel policy (double/triple booking & extended stay from previous guests) and unhappy hotel employees toward the current management (during my stay, few of the employees were talking and hoping for new management). Cleanliness from the housekeeping team was fast and efficient. Restaurant menu was okay. Swimming pool got some defects with the pool tiles and I had few deep cuts while swimming there. Parking provided was okay. Check-out process was smooth.

We stayed at Holiday villa for seven nights. We had room 019. Very nice room with excellent view. Very clean resort. Friendly helpful staff, good amenities.
Nice breakfast. Lots of fresh fruits.
Good location, quiet. Lots of restaurants nearby. 5 minutes to Pantai Chenang, RM 5 if you use GRAB.

Great value for money

Amazing Value for money. Great location, breakfast really good and nice pool. A bit old the resort but manage to be still a good option. Having the beach part of the hotel was a blessed. Highly recommend it.

This was the second time we stayed at the Holiday Villa Beach Resort and it wont be the last.
We stayed there with my sister in-law and her husband and I asked for adjoining rooms. When we checked in we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite! Wow!
Great place with fantastic friendly staff and what a pool!

Riddled with theft

My experience was having a pair of pants and 2 coats stolen by housekeeping. The coats I finally got returned after my second visit back to the hotel by a unconcerned GM. My pants which had a considerable amount of cash in them was never returned, even though I expressed a lack of desire for the money. Consequently I returned to my home country with snow on the ground in shorts, as there were no pants to purchase in my size.

I have never been to a resort hotel in Asia in the past. I have been to all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean/ Central America. Both experiences cannot be compared. Standards are different which I was not entirely prepared for. Beaches are completely different. If you don't enjoy stepping onto starfish and small fish by the shore, this is not the resort/ beachfront for you. Infinity pool is separate and you need to pay to get access. Rooms are dated but clean.

The hotel is right next to the beach and has several restaurants and bars a few minutes walk away, the main nightlife is about 20 minutes walk.
The main pool is very large and there are plenty of sun beds so we never bothered paying for the infinity pool, didn’t use the restaurants so can’t comment but there is a good little shop by reception that sells food that always seemed to be open and was very good.
The rooms looked a little old but were ok, air con was on an old system but I much prefer this as you just turn it on and set the temperature, no messing about. We had a view of the pool and the beach which was very nice, wouldn’t like to be at the rear though.
All in all a nice place to stay

We enjoyed our experience there it’s very traditional and has a lovely beach it was nice people may moan about the rooms and the breakfast but then if you want better rooms and food then go stay at the Danna but we went to the danna for a day as our friends where there and we preferred our hotel as it’s such a beautiful area it served its purpose for our stay.

This property is a prime example of expectation vs. reality. Based upon their overview, all looks great, amazing even. However once you check-in, the reality sets in. Their motto is let us “manja” (pamper) you - which I should’ve know, if it’s posted everywhere, it won’t be true.

I think this could be a good family spot for a bargain hotel. Be careful of the food though. We were served raw chicken satay. This was not our first stop in Malaysia however after eating here for the first time, we started having G.I. problems.

They charged for EVERYTHING so it doesn’t really compute to bargain (they make you pay for the infinity pool access, you know, the one on their property/resort).

Spa was great.

Service was extremely slow, you pretty much had to stand their and wait for your order. Our orders were forgotten many times.

Housekeeping was inconsistent of how they cleaned the rooms. Hand towels were not provided, didn’t refill the toilet paper. The laundry service was good.

Give yourself time for check in/check out. Takes a while.

Location is great, walkable and nice views.

Firstly, we checked in 2 hours post check-in time and our room still wasn’t available. The check-in process was lengthy as everything is done on paper. Okay, sure not everything needs to be computerized. It just seems inefficient to me.

Great hotel on the beach but the box jelly fish were a nuisance. Perhaps the hotels located on this side of the island can come up with a collective eco friendly solution that will allow both tourists and the box jelly fish to enjoy the beach and sea without harming each other!

Lovely location on the beachfront. Staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Building is showing its age. The beach lounge area - bar and food service - needs an upgrade. Overall, we would stay again!

Overall the stay was nice. The facilities was nice as well. Except for 1 room which has some issues, the rest of the rooms has no problems at all.It was nice a stay and the is at Pantai Tengah. The beach is clean.
