The room was clean but quite small. I didn't feel that there was good value for the money spent in comparison to the other hotels we've stayed at while on our tour of the Peleponese. Grant it, the location was central and in close proximity to various shops and restaurants which was convenient. The elevator was sized for 1 person at a time if they had any luggage. I will add that the staff was very friendly and courteous.

Nice hotel right on Sparta's main street. This makes it a bit difficult to drive and park, but we were lucky. The room was alright but had no electricity plug (we had to unplug the TV and use the plug in the bathroom to charge our phones). Otherwise the hotel was well kept and service friendly.

Weekend in Sparti

The Lakonia Hotel is very central to the main sites in Sparta, walking distance to the Leonidas statue, ancient Sparta, Archaeological Museum, town square and Museum of the Olive. I experienced very friendly and helpful advice from front desk staff.
Because of covid, breakfast is served on a tray in your room, a meal I enjoyed outside on the balcony table.
The hotel is an older building and the furnishings are somewhat dated, but the room was clean, comfortable and in good order. Despite being on the busiest street in town with outdoor cafes opposite and beside the hotel, sound does not penetrate once the windows are closed.
I spent a comfortable night at the Lakonia before driving to Mistras for a fascinating walk around a UNESCO World Heritage site.

I liked how the property was located almost exactly in the center of the city, and moreover, it was directly across the street from arguably the best and most popular restaurant/bar in town, the Ministry Music Hall. The AC was also fantastic, cooling down the room almost immediately, which was a must because at the time of this writing, Europe was undergoing a heatwave, and some days in Sparta were anywhere from 102° - 104°F (38° - 40°C).

Cons were the lack of a trash can in the main area (only trash can was in the bathroom), a small shower, and a half broken door to the balcony - if you didn't open it in a certain way, it looked like the door was going to fall out of the frame. But when it was properly closed, it was still able to create a perfect seal, so I never had any heating or cooling issues. Lastly, the Ministry Hall could get very loud at some times during the night, and I was able to hear a lot of the music and chatter coming from the bar - but that might also be because I was on the first floor in room 107, facing the street.

Nice hotel, Excellent service from helpful staff.
Good continental type breakfast.
Parking is on the street, but seemed to be always available and safe.
Plenty of reasonable restaurants in the vicinity.
Mystras, a centre of Frankish and Byzantine history is a fifteen minute drive. The outlook is incomparable. But Mystras is not accessible to anyone with a physical handicap or a strong dislike of heights, or who cannot walk up somewhat difficult and steep stoney paths.

We very much enjoyed our time at the Lakonia Hotel and in Sparta. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, and helped us to find parking in front of the hotel. The room was smallish but clean and comfortable. One small complaint is that it is a bit noisy between rooms and from the corridors The hotel is located in the centre of the city, in close walking distance to the Archeological museum, restaurants and shopping. We also used Sparta as a base to visit nearby Mystras. I also highly recommend visiting the excellent Museum of the Olive and Olive Oil in Sparta.

A gem in the ancient land

Spectacular time. The room was fantastic, the view was fun. Thomas and Kiki (sp?) were amazing and so helpful. I’ll be in town another week at another hotel I already booked and paid for but then I’ll go back to Lakonia for one more night. Next year I won’t bother to look anywhere else.

Probably your best option in Sparta

First, the front desk staff are superb. Helpful, friendly, patient, competent.
But the hotel itself is pretty basic--dare I say Spartan? -- and the rooms facing the Main Street are LOUD. Bring earplugs. Breakfast is just okay. Location is convenient to the Ktel bus station -- it's a 10-15 minute walk up one street, and the bust stop for Mistras is just around the corner. Sparta is close to a number of great sites, but the city itself isn't geared towards tourists. It's hard to find a good dinner, for example. But the people are so friendly that it really does make up for whatever the city itself lacks in amenities.

It was a decent hotel right in the center of Sparti. I was there alone on business. Rooms are a bit dated and hallway carpets are not in best condition but, for the price, it was fine. If youre planning on just sleeping then this hotel is fine. No amenities.

Very nice hotel right in the heart of Sparta. Service was very friendly and breakfast was great. Rooms were, well, Spartan, but very functional and clean. Would definitely recommend if you are sight seeing in the area. Very central. Mystras, olive Museum, history museum and ancient Sparta are all very close. Parking can be right out front or just park Sparta style on the Main Street (but if you get there before or after siesta you may have to walk a couple of blocks, no biggie in my books). Some very good restaurants in the immediate area as well.

1 quick night between buses, perfect location, room has all you need, shower is ridiculously small with shower curtain 100% useless and sticks to body the whole time, good balcony, WiFi and air con. Good value but could use a refresh.

Value Hotel in Sparta

Hotel Lakonia is a centrally located, modern hotel in Sparta. Our stay included a good, hot buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. The room was spacious and included a refrigerator. Wifi was adequate. The receptionist was very informative, providing recommendations for museums / places to visit and restaurants.

Room is big enough for a couple to stay. Bathroom is rather small. Room was cold, so had to use heater at full power to sleep.
Breakfast was simply amazing. Parked on the street (free) but would be impossible during high season.

Very nice hotel for the price paid - close to the main square in Sparti that has some really good restaurants and bars. Staff was also very friendly. Free breakfast in the morning had a good variety of bread, spreads, cereal, drinks and even some local sausage and hams. Highly recommended.

The hotel hasn't managed to transition to modern times yet. They still allow smoking in their premises and the rooms really stink. The hotel is on a very noisy street, really noisy! There is no sound insulation between walls, you can hear just about anything the people next door are talking about.

Hotel Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was fine, they had the usual foods. The room was on the small side and very noisy. We've been traveling for two weeks and staying in hotels with about the same price as this one, and I will say the beds and pillows here were the least comfortable. This hotel would be fine for a one night stay, but I would not recommend it for more than that.

Great bargain in center of town

Very cute compact little hotel, in center of town, near restaurants, shops, transportation. Lots of business travellers apparently prefer it. The room was small, but had everything, including shower doors. The breakfast room was very nice, the food plenty and delicious. They also have the BEST COFFEE in all of Europe. Very helpful staff.

If you stay, ask for a room away from the street

They lost my reservation and therefore I was split from my kids age 14 and 13 on the first night. Kids got a great room, I got the ship's cabin.
Next problem, noisy +++ thin walls, street sounds, although the lovely staff did offer me a different room after the first night, but they didn't tell me the parties across the main road go until 3.30am...
dirty cup in bathroom when I arrived and bathroom floor was wet, not damp, but someone had just had a shower??
The worst bit was I noticed really filthy black water in a bucket with an old mop that was sitting on the stairs...(the bucket and mop did this daily). Now I wonder what I was walking on in my room.

This hotel was great. I liked the balcony with the table and chairs. I had a private dining room overlooking a popular street with really fun night life. The bed was comfortable and the desk was helpful. Nice bathroom and shower. The bed was small, but comfortable. The room had good space. There are some fun things to do in Sparta and this hotel is close to all of them.

price right with good amenities

Downtown location close to many restaurants but on a busy street although we couldn't hear noise through sliding door. Balcony enabled us to people watch while decompressing after a long drive there. Parking was a challenge and we ended up two blocks away. Breakfast was well stocked.

So, so but they tried.

The hotel was average for Sparta especially so closet to the Menelaion which was far, far better. While the staff tried it was noticeably untrained. We were given one rate for breakfast and charged another. Since the difference was so small we did not make an issue. The biggest courtesy we received was them allowing us to park directly in front of the hotel. Parking generally for patrons generally was a nightmare.

The staff provide excellent service, every request and inquiry are being handled and answered quickly. But the toilet flush needs to be push very hard. Other than that the room is very clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in the center of Sparta, the surrounding has many bars and restaurants. Overall I enjoy my stay there.

The best hotel I've stayed at in Greece.

During this trip, I spent five weeks in Greece, moving from hotel to hotel, and this one tops the list. A bit more expensive than the others, but worth the expense -- unbeatable location, highly comfortable accommodations (including a shower curtain, a rarity in Greek hotels) and a friendly staff (also, unfortunately, rare in Greek hotels).

Hotel is located in the heart of Sparti, and close to the Roman ruins, Archaeological museum. No need to walk to the bus station as there is a stop selling tickets 2 minutes walk from the door. The hotel was clean and well presented and I was offered a choice of front or side (quieter) rooms. The only issue was that I found the wifi to be very hit and miss.

Not the fanciest hotel in the world or in Sparta for that matter but, the cleaniness and quality of hotel service were outstanding. The owner-operator of the hotel and his family were wonderfully generous of their time and of the use of the facilities. I would not hesitate recommending the hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Sparta.

Had to circle the block several times to eventually find a parking spot quite far down the street as there is no hotel parking (though this seemed to be the case for all hotels on this street). The lobby was very nice. The air conditioner in our room did not work well, so we had to open the window to the very noisy street below. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and the overhead showerhead in the tiny bathroom didn't work. With some proper maintenance and upgrades (like mattress toppers), this hotel could be as nice as the lobby made it appear.

Excellent Budget Choice and Unbeatable Location

This is an excellent budget choice for Sparta. Friendly and helpful reception staff and the location is unbeatable-- right in the middle of a lively boulevard and a pedestrian street lined with cafes and shops. The archaeological museum is very close and worth seeing, especially for the Roman mosaics. The ruins are a short walk away, and while not as extensive as some sites, are worth checking out. I also thought Sparta was the perfect place to experience a small Greek city... much more charming than Athens, though of course Athens' Acropolis and Archaeological museum are must-see sites. If I ever return to Sparta, I'll definitely stay at the Lakonia.

excellent hotel at the price. clean and comfortable. plenty of hot water. shower a bit of a squeeze, but ok. limited reserved parking in front of hotel; might be a problem in summer. even an english-style cooked breakfast, a rarity in greece. only drawback is that it can be noisy, being on the main street, which locals use as a race-track at night; cars and bikes can be heard at any hour putting the rev-counter in the red, and then there were the bin-men at 5am.. you might have to choose between ventilation and peace. on the whole i would recommend it.

The location of the hotel is great. It is walking distance to everything in town. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They gave us the advice we needed and helped us with special dietary requests.
The room was clean upon arrival and room service kept it that way. The complimentary breakfast was very good.
