Host gave us clear instructions to avoid construction on arrival and restaurant recommendations in a nearby town (the fish place was amazing!) Parking area was easy to navigate. Common area was nice to have but filled up quickly with small children in the evening. We could hear conversations through the wall of our room from the other side but we slept well. We didn’t get to try the cafe. Overall a good value.

Lovely please. We checked in late but we had all the instructions left out for us and then a lady came to find us to tell us what was what. The rooms were very comfortable, lots of tea and coffee. And then the bonus, there was a shared area where they had free tea, coffee, milk, fruit juice, cereals. All for us to enjoy. Would definitely recommend and if we are in the area again, we will be staying here. Fantastic place

What a fantastic jewel of a find! Gareth & his staff were so welcoming. Our room was one of the smaller ones but spotless & all we needed for 2 nights, with a great fancy, modern en suite shower. Outside caterers on the Friday night provided fantastic food & the Wee Bear Cafe provides superb home made fayre during the day. Would definitely recommend this wonderful place to stay.

Great hosts, beautiful location. The accommodation is a fantastic conversion and the rooms are very nice. Free Breakfast is handy if you want something quick or if you’re willing to go spend some money in the cafe I’d recommend it as the food and atmosphere is lovely.

There was a mix up between the website and the lodge. Check in is 4pm on wards. Checkout is 9.30 not 11am. No full breakfast only self service breakfast and access to some items.
Location is beautiful, relaxing and quiet. Gareth is lovely and friendly and helpful. Room was the small room but perfect for what we needed. We had a lovely staff. Explained to Gareth the mix up with hotels.com and said worth checking the details.

Spoke to Lodge beforehand as we were turnng up very late. All very accomodating.

Bed felt as though it was sloping down and my husband felt he was about to fall off when turning over. Other than that the room wasvery comfortable and certaiyvadequate for what we were after.

Breakfast is basic cereals, coffee, tea and toast available on a DIY basis in guest kitchen lounge area. Although Wee Bear Cafe is available for foid etc after 1000, which is after check out at 0930.

Nice lodge, spacious family room. Very quiet location. Only disappointment is Hotels.com advertised it as providing full breakfast but basically you were given access to a communal kitchen where cereal, toast, jam, juice cartons and some fruits were self service. We didn't mind so much but others who are expecting a proper fry up breakfast may be dissatisfied.

We arrived within the set arrival time but found it locked. Eventually found someone and got in. We weren't given the room we booked, no full breakfast as booked and the accompanying cafe /bar was closed. There is no Loch view from anywhere (even though paid for this).

We had a lovely stay, the food was fantastic, the area gorgeous and dog friendly. The loch is right across the road so we had an afternoon dip and there was space for our dog to freely roam. The evening platters were lovely and there was a vegan option for my partner with plenty on the meat platter for me. The were very helpful, accomodating and we will definitely be back again.

Poor communication from the owner - The property said it accepted dogs but you were to inform them prior to arrival - No response from owner on the subject.
To simply get in requires climbing of some very steep steps to first floor that was not mentioned on webpage - no good for mobility problems. We stayed in the stag room which although clean with a good choice of tea and coffee was very very small - no where to hand clothes, no chair.
We booked Bed and Breakfast only to arrive at the time we said to no welcoming, only a piece of paper on a door with instructions stating the booking was for room only and we had to leave for 9.30am. Again on the booking it said to depart by 11am.
Despite no breakfast being offered the welcome paper said there was a self service area stocked with complimentary breakfast items - carton of fruit juice, toffee yoghurts, drinks, milk butter (spread). However the bread was mouldy. the milk was sour, the coffee machine did not work. We could find no spoons to eat the cereal with and no jam/ marmalade for the bread.
No signs of owner on departing either.
We were very disappointed and will certainly not be visiting again

We really enjoyed our stay, this place is lovely and we even got to take our dog who was extremely welcome. We couldn’t get a hot breakfast unfortunately due to not being available during our stay which was disappointing but the kids were so happy there was Coco Pops so all was good, and the self serve breakfast and lounge was a nice touch. Highly recommend and the hosts are lovely

The room is very basic place to stay for just a night, very small room, I had to move furniture to be able to feet my dogs bed, ceiling very low I kept hitting my head to the light, I amot too tall! Bathroom was clean but aged and mould on the seal, towel available bit no shampoos or body wash, breakfast was alright ..I will not recommend this place for more than one night stay

Enjoyable stay in the Lodge

We stayed in the cosy double - and it is cosy but it was also comfortable and clean. The shower was great.
A few changes have taken place since some of the previous reviews and breakfast is now self service in the guest kitchenette off the lounge (cereal, toast, fruit, tea and coffee).
We liked eating in the Wee Bear Cafe beside the Lodge (and meeting Bear). Delicious coffee and cake! Gareth was friendly and helpful. An enjoyable short stay in a tranquil setting.

Superb place to stay. The owners Anne and Gareth really look after their guests. They also run a very successful cafe with delicious home baking. We were upgraded to a larger room. Very comfortable. Anne looked after our needs by leaving out plates, glasses and cutlery and giving us a microwave. We had been travelling around a lot, and were looking forward to a break from eating out. The shared kitchen had to be closed due to Covid 19. Breakfasts were excellent. The area is really interesting and has a large amount of wildlife. Thanks for a great stay and hope to be back one day.

The lodge is a fantastic place to stay. The owners are friendly. The room, and especially the bed, was very comfortable. There is a wonderful guest lounge with huge comfy sofas and chairs. Breakfast was excellent. If you want to chill out, go for lovely walks, watch a variety of wild life (the only noise is the geese on the loch) I couldn’t think of anywhere better place to base yourself than the Lodge at Lochside. (There is even a very cheeky red squirrel who is happy to entertain you while you eat your breakfast).

I booked a small double room at the lodge. Gareth not only upgraded our room to a family room with loch view for free, but also accepted our early check-in. The room was warm and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The \"Wee bear cafe\" provides a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee and home-made cakes. My husband and I had a pleasant stay there.

If wanting somewhere special this is the place...

From the moment we arrived it was evident that this was going to be a wonderful place to stay. Gareth made us so welcome and gave us a wonderful recommendation for where to have dinner locally. The 'wee coo' room which we were given was a beautiful room. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the pillows were really good, which is often not the case in hotels, etc. Breakfast was served in the Wee Bear Cafe that Gareth and Anne run and it was beautiful setting. The breakfast is slightly different from the standard hotel breakfast, which was a very welcome change. It was freshly prepared and the mushrooms were outstanding. I really hope we get the opportunity to visit the lodge again as it is a great base for exploring the local area and gives you everything and more you could want from a place to stay. Hopefully next time we will be able to stay more than one night, as one night was not long enough at this wonderful place.

Wonderful location matched by lovely couple running a superb air bnb next to the loch at Lintrathen. Great attention to detail in rooms and tasty breakfast served in the Wee Bear Cafe, which is part of the building - a roundhouse with funky seating and thoughtful choices on the light lunch menu. Excellent selection of coffees, cakes all home made and some gluten free. Try the scones! Will definitely return for the ambience, convenience and genuine welcome by the owners.

Gareth and Anna are amazing hosts with tons of local knowledge. It's a bit off the beaten track, but well worth it. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and it was close to several parkland golf courses (Alyth, Strathmore...) that I enjoyed. I would definitely go back!

Very nice' clean rooms, warm & cosy. Large communal area for eating and relaxing with well equipped kitchen for self catering. Breakfast very good and nicely cooked. cafe food available until 16.00 but after that no food available. However there are suggestions for eating out and we had 2 good dinners at the Losset Inn 7 miles away. Gareth, Ann and family extremely helpful and friendly, even making dinner bookings for us. Lovely location by the loch and good access to the Cairngorms National Park.

Beautiful time spent at the Lodge at Lochside

I received a great welcoming from Gareth and Anne and I enjoyed my stay at their beautiful Lodge, complete with the lovely \"wee bear cafe\". The breakfasts were delicious as Gareth and Anne are great cooks and it was so enjoyable in the wee bear cafe. There is a really nice walk around the loch just by the Lodge. I loved my stay. Lovely b&b by the loch.

We were made very welcome on our arrival, shown to our room which was modern and clean. We brought our 2 dogs and had ample room. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and communicated well with all guests. The lounge was huge and comfortable. All our needs were there in lounge area ( kitchen, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, cooker and tea coffee). The couches are comfy and huge. Our dogs spent a lot of time in lounge just lounging about. We took dogs partly round Loch (off lead) although occassional car or tractor passed. The Bear Cafe is a must with amazing homemade cakes and scones, and you get a good breakfast as well.
Special mention to the New Zealand lass ( sorry forgot her name), who couldn't help anymore than she did and was so helpful and polite and a real credit to the place.
Overall this was a delightful stay and would definitely recommend to others.

We expected an isolated location but not the rather difficult search for the property due to the post code covering such a large area. Third venue lucky we received a warm welcome from Gareth who showed us to our charming room which contained everything we needed, including a 'space age shower'.
I had envisaged a view over the loch but the raised banks and the wall surrounding the water made this impossible but it was only a 50 metre walk to rectify this and the views were spectacular without the loch.
I chose the location as it seemed perfect for visiting teenage holidays remembered from 50 years ago and it proved perfect.
Gareth was a charming host and his breakfasts were very well presented and received.
I would thoroughly recommend the cosy charm of the 'wee bear cafe' to all those wishing to explore this area.

Located next to the loch in beautiful surroundings just 15 mins from Kirriemuir this B&B was very spacious with very large lounge with adjourning kitchen which is for guests to use. The bedroom was nicely decorated with lovely en-suite, lovely comfy bed with top quality quilt and bedding. The premises has also got a adjoining cafe which is very handy if you fancy staying in the area. Will defiantly be going back top value for money 👍🏻

Full of warm character and charm. Loved stargazing through the skylight, gazing at wildlife on loch through bedroom window. Big comfortable hugging sofas in a warm and sociable lounge space with plenty of board and card games. Beautiful cafe and and a generous, beautifully prepared breakfast. Hosts were warm, friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back for another stay, and have reccommended the cafe to family who live locally.

Secluded but well worth the search

Can't say enough about the accommodations - clean, spacious, very quiet and restful location. Hosts went above and beyond to see t hat our stay was pleasant. Downside to all that peace and quiet was its isolation. Got there after on-site café closed so had to travel 15 minutes to nearest place to get something to eat, but the pub they recommended was outstanding so worth the drive. Only negative was finding the B&B at night. They need a bigger sign to find them after dark.

Home away from Home!

A fine hidey hole away from the main drag - I stumbled across the Lodge at the Lochside & Wee Bear Cafe, as a last minute option, but was well pleased when I arrived there - Ann & Gareth make you feel comfortable, and the residents lounge is a fine place to unwind amidst a cup/pot of tea or two - along with free scones or cake :)
Breakfast was cooked to your choice - along with selection of Cereal, fruit and Fruit Juice.
Mein host even recommended a decent restaurant/pub for good food - Drovers Inn!

I enjoyed my stay - a good combination of Home from Home with minimal interference from the proprietors.
I'll definitely be back next time I'm up that area.

Amazing place

Fantastic place a great find. Gareth was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a budget room and it was great , newly decorated, great bathroom. The social lounge had dining table comfy sofas and a kitchen where you could prepare your own meals. Breakfast was delicious . Wish we could have stayed longer

Stayed 2 nights to explore the local area. Great host, great breakfast, a bonus with the communal lounge, kitchen and washing machine. We were put onto a local pub for meals which were brilliant, well worth trying.
Nice view of loch and a bird hide just down the road. We would stay here again

Stayed for one night in an extremely spacious and well appointed bedroom. Excellent location and owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Lovely breakfast. Only one minor disappointment was the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the bedroom. Guests do have access to a very pleasant residents' lounge and kitchen area containing tea/coffee facilities. This is a great idea if you fancy a chat with other guests - less so if you can't sleep at 4 in the morning. I suspect we might not be the only guests who would prefer to have these facilities available in the bedroom. Other than that Lodge at Lochside is highly recommended.

Very comfortable and welcoming stay

We were made to feel very welcome. Comfortable room with free WiFi, delicious and hearty breakfast. Great communal sitting room for chilling out, and use of kitchen area is a great bonus. Very peaceful location. Highly recommended.

Lovely 2 night break

We booked the lodge because we were attending an event at nearby Glamis castle. The owners Gareth and Anne are lovely, they were very welcoming and keen to assure our comfort. The area is rural and very beautiful. The lodge is quirky, comfortable and pretty. We had an excellent breakfast in the Wee bear café, an excellent place to go and eat, fantastic home baking. Our room was one of the smaller doubles but well decorated and very comfortable. Bed and pillows good. We will definitely go back.
