Strict adherence to 4 pm check is a bit of a problem. Hotel and bar locked up tight. Was cycling and arrived at 3:30 and would have been nice to store away my bicycle and get out of the rain. Finally called the hotel at 4:45 and they let me in.

My room in this roadside inn was nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed and good shower. Its remote location gave a quiet night. The restaurant meals were excellent and the staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Sadly I was a little disappointed with this hotel .
The hotel itself seemed a little run down .
The room was ok. Large enough but with issues.
The double king bed was 2 singles pushed together which is sort of normal but not with 2 single duvet covers so my wife and I slept separately anyway so what was the point on pushing them together.
Luxury double I don't think so. Double the price of a premier Inn but half the hotel.
Another silly thing was the kettle is to large to fill in the sink properly.
One last thing. The breakfast was below average in my opinion.
Plus point is it's location on our route

Amazing stay out of nowhere

Altguish inn was an unexpectedly nice stay that we experienced on out nc500 trip. The hotel is out of nowhere in the middle of the road with no attractions nearby. An old cute hotel. They have ample parking, and 1 slow electric charger in the carpark. The restaurant served good english breakfast. The sausages were amazing. The bar was good. The service was excellent. Now our room was also amazing with all necessary amenities. I would surely recommend the place for anyone travelling the route and needing a break.

This was the most expensive accommodation during our trip at £169 with no breakfast and only single beds .
When we arrived the staff member was only interested in getting paid and trying to get us to book a table to eat that evening or confirm breakfast as we hadn’t breakfast included , all seeming very commercial.
The shower tray drainage was blocked and the tray overflowed after a only using the shower for 45 seconds, the television only had one channel working. We handed the staff a written note to make them aware of the defects in the room and my opinion that it was overpriced.

Comfortable, clean room with nice view & great shower room en suite. A very warm welcome & helpful service from Michaela & Christiau, even when very busy.

We enjoyed kayaking and also visiting the famous garden at Inverewe.

The hotel had a wide choice on the menu of English, Scottish and traditional Transylvanian food (do try), which we relished, cooked beautifully by Dragos and Anca. A lovely place to stay...thankyou.

We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms, which was comfortable with everything provided. The evening meal was typical \"pub grub\" but reasonable, and a buffet breakfast was provided. One negative though was the manager (owner?) who was abrupt to the point of being short, and can honestly stay I have never had a check I experience quite like it before.

This hotel is a good base for hill walking. There are a great may Munro's within no more than a 30 minute drive of this property.
Breakfast was excellent. Packed meal was made available when we needed to make an early start.
Restaurant food was good and the bar had a straightforward selection.
Staff friendliness and service was excellent.
The room we had was in great shape and the shower was first class.
Only negative I can think of is the bar closed at 10pm - not a problem for most I am sure!

Arrived after a very long drive, our room was a courtyard mountain view room. Although very small,it was very well appointed and spotlessly clean.Got the impression it had just been refurbished. Comfy bed with lovely pillows and linen.
The bar area didn't feel very cosy and would really have benefited from having the fire lit especially as it was snowing outside.
The restaurant area looked nice and much more inviting, however as we had our dog with us, it was out of bounds.
Food was fine, very limited menu due to just opening and only small number of guests.
All in all, just what we needed.

waste of money, wouldn't stay again. booking said twin bed got a single shorty which isn't good for me as I'm 6ft 1inch.
booking also said espresso maker, there was a travel kettle, 2 paper cups, 4 small pots of milk and 3 sachets of coffee. room had a draft and hardly any bedding

Wonderful stay in the Aultguish Inn

What a lovely hotel to stay in and about 30 minutes from Ullapool. The room was lovely except for being very hot as the radiator was on so I turned it off. The towel rail was also on so we opened the window in the bedroom and kept the bathroom door closed. The wifi at night was non existent but in the morning it worked fine. We had an evening meal there and it was out of this world. So much choice and absolutely delicious and I would totally recommend eating here. Infact all around it was a great stay in a wonderful hotel near a dam.

A very nice stop over. A warm welcome and nice room. The bathroom was small, but we’ll equipped. The bedroom was nicely done- it was very warm and as we faced the road had the window shut. Food was very good. Self service breakfast but it was regularly replenished. A very good stop over, I wouldn’t stay more than one or two nights.

Spare of the moment booking to avoid some bad weather. Paid an extortionate £271 for 2 nights b&b . We were looking for dog friendly but on arrival were asked to pay a further £10 per dog which we refused to pay. Accommodation was fine food was fine except chips and onion rings which were frozen. Staff very friendly except manager who again tried harassing me for £20 for our dogs , this was at the bar within earshot of other customers which was potentially embarrassing for me also very poor management on her part. Not good PR. There was no mention of a fee for the dogs on the booking site. Place has more a quality hostel feel than hotel.

This is the kind of place you want to find at the end of a long journey: picturesque, well-run, clean and inviting.

The room was nicely appointed and comfortable. The staff were attentive and helpful, and the food and and drink was very satisfying.

If you're a biker, there's a dry room for your gear and plenty of good company in the form of fellow travellers to swap stories with.

I would go out of my way to stay here again. A very enjoyable experience.

Poor service and bare basics from the room

The bunk room we stayed in was essentially a very basic youth hostel level. We paid £110 for one night, we received no towels and no breakfast (interesting choice for a bed & breakfast).

The person at the front desk was extremely uninterested and basically gave me the key and waved me in the general direction of the room. I had to ask several follow up questions in order to figure out things like when dinner was, where to go, when checkout was, where breakfast was etc.

In terms of the room, the beds were extremely creaky, the lights were all plugged in to extension cords rather than mains lights and several fittings like door handles and bathroom plugs were loose, poorly maintained and of general poor upkeep.

No attention to detail regarding cleaning eg toothpaste splatters on taps, hair in bed, pillowcases marked, cups dirty. Sheets not ironed.

Room not considered deluxe (as described) regarding both furnishings and facilities eg hanging space cramped and not tall enough for anything other than shirts. Certainly not worth £116 per night.

The manager did offer an alternative room but unfortunately we felt unable to stay - particularly in the current COVID-19 pandemic- as we did not feel confident that guidelines were being followed or that the room had been prepared safely. We were forced to seek alternative accommodation a 30 min drive away in Inverness.

The bunk house room was not clean, there was visible dirt on the floor, cobwebs and dust. The shared bathroom had a communal hand towel. Was surprised by the level of uncleanliness considering the pandemic that's currently going on.
The bed was also incredibly uncomfortable, and so was the pillow. How anyone is expected to have a reasonable night sleep here is beyond me. Would not recommend, and would not stay again.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay . The new owners have had a tricky time with Covid restrictions but hopefully they will be able to make the changes they would like soon.
Our dinner was delicious and all freshly cooked .
The bathroom In our room was pretty basic but The bed was very comfortable .
We would Certainly be happy to stay again on our way north west to see the changes made.
I wish the owners good luck in their new venture .

Had an awful time here.

Booked last minute into the dorm room for £55. Room was extremely basic and had a bunk bed in it and that was pretty much it. Bathrooms were pretty dirty too. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and you could feel springs come through the bed. The annex we stayed in was absolutely covered in mosquitos as well . I noted holes in the bedroom wall and in the corridor which could be why the corridors were draped in mosquitoes.

Even worse - I received an awful message that I have only just seen from the owners. They berated me for writing a negative review saying that I was a rude customer.

I am not a rude customer - I am writing an honest review. The staff were very rude and the facilities awful. What else to say? The owner said I expected a 5* experience for £55. Yes, £55 is very cheap but this does not mean you berate guests and have very cheap facilities such as old broken mattresses. I'm ex military and I've slept in many interesting places around the world and I'd say this has to be one of the worst experiences I'v had.

My girlfriend and I still have back issues from staying here.

Note to the manager: Guests ae allowed an opinion. Its not nasty and its not personal. You really need to improve your dorm facilities. Maybe the private single bedrooms are very nice but you cannot have mattresses like the way you have and have mosquitos cover the annex. Invest in mosquito nets to put on the doors and windows. Also, do not berate guests.

Booked and paid for a luxury double room after calling to confirm it had a shower rather than bath (due to a knee problem) and couch in a more spacious room.Given a standard double and told hotel was full. Our waiter from Romania was great and very attentive.Dinner was lovely, tasty And well priced but many drinks advertised not available. The multiple spelling mistakes on the menu made us giggle but how they misspelt the name of the inn is quite something. Breakfast was ok but not the quality of ingredients I’d expect for a room at £110. I suppose when you have cheap bunk rooms too they cut costs. Very greasy and sausages cheap. There were lots of small dead flies on the window shelf where we had breakfast that had been missed. The rest looked clean but one of the sanitisers on the wall at the stairs wasn’t working.
I noticed the track and trace information with names and phone numbers was just lying out on a clip board on top of the bar. It was still there the next day so not an error. The owners are in breach of widely known GDPR rules and A fine of up to 4% their annual turnover. I mentioned this at check out and the owner was quite argumentative with me for pointing it out and said she didn’t know about these business rules which is a worry if your information is not safe.

They have provision for our motorbikes which meant they were stored under cover and out the way. A good nights stay overall and we would definitely stay again if passing by.

NC500 early stop

I wanted to stop early on the NC500 and this Hotel was about the right distance. Very comfortable, clean, chalet type room. Great evening meal and good breakfast to set off on a rod trip.
