The most wonderful stay of our 3 week visit to England, Scotland and Ireland! The owners (they work there everyday) are delightful people, warm and gracious! They have been on a 20 year mission to lovingly upgrade the Grand Dame of Scotland and are succeeding! The Coul House is THE best value for what you get in return. The gardens are lovely, the Fairy Trails delightful, the food, drinks and service spectacular! Our room was well appointed, clean and thoughtfully decorated The Highlands of Scotland are not to be missed! Inverness is a wonderful town just 20 minutes away.
We love the Coul House and look forward to our return! Bravo!

This hotel is just perfect if you want a quality, understated, comfortable and quite break. Lovely grounds, staff get the balance of being friendly but not intrusive just right. Dogs are made welcome everywhere except the main dining room. Service top notch (nice to go somewhere these days where there are enough staff). Rooms are comfortable and crisp white sheets and the most comfortable beds made me feel like I was floating on a cloud! We had dinner in the dining room each night and the food was delicious. Strathpeffer is a lovely walk away or a few minutes by car and is well worth exploring. Dingwall is the nearest place with more high street names, Tesco, Lidl etc as well as some lovely independent shops on the high street. Loved my stay and will return anytime I visit the highlands.

Coul House is an exceptional choice for a relaxing stay, with the accessibility to Highlands! We were able to visit the Isle of Skye and several other great attractions. The breakfast has delicious choices and dinner is an excellent fine-dining option. The gardens are very well maintained and add to the beauty of the villa.

Check-in was a breeze. As soon as you walk into the foyer the large open fireplace set the tone for our stay. Warm and inviting.

Rooms are upstairs with no lift but help with the bags is available.

Room was a bit small but well equipped with amazing shower (no bath). Flush handle on the toilet was loose but worked fine.

No need to leave the hotel for food as the restaurant is first class and breakfast as good as I have had anywhere.

Service was first class with staff very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a lounge where you can sit before dinner and after for a scotch or a coffee. Their stock of scotch is excellent and the owner seems to have tried them all.

Would recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to stay and explore the highlands.

This is an excellent property with an immaculate renovation of rooms for a structure built in the 1800's.
All modern conveniences are present, yet the aura of the historic building is preserved.
The food is incredible,on par with Michelin restaurants where we dined in the past.
The staff were extremely friendly and efficient.
The garden and surrounding vistas are enchanting.
I would definitely rate this hotel the highest rating.

This hotel is a quite hotel in the country. We absolutely loved the location. There is a Restraunt downstairs that typically can accommodate guest as well as a bar and large dog friendly yard. We loved all the dogs roaming around. The hotel is a historic style hotel and we would love to return in the winter to see the fireplace going! The owner waited on us a few times and we very kind and courteous. The price is reasonable as well. Overall great experience.

This was simply....elegant. We were touring Scotland for our 40th anniversary and I specifically chose places with lovely views out the windows. This? Was mike-drop perfection. From the warm greeting, to the lovely meals, to the architecture...gardens...all spectacular. It is one of the things on this trip I will cherish forever. This? Is a DO NOT MISS. Care and attention oozes from every corner. We travel widely and it takes a great deal for me to give such a glowing review. Coul House deserves a standing ovation in the world of hospitality...every detail considered, a well trained staff...just...wow.

Lovely country setting. Customer service was first class. Everyone was polite, friendly and attentive. Fabulous selection of drinks available. Clean, comfortable rooms with everything required for a short stay. We climbed Ben Wyvis next day so staying here was so convenient as the car park was just a 10 minute drive away.

This has to be one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. From the first moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and they even upgraded us to a lovely room overlooking the extensive gardens. We stayed here for one night & the hotel was great, our room was great & the food excellent. But on arrival the lady on reception was cold & verging on rude on our arrival & checkout. All the other staff we encountered were excellent, very professional & very friendly, I have no idea out of all those lovely staff you would put somebody so unfriendly on reception, as we know first impressions count. Our room was very nice with views over the gardens, the bar & restaurant lovely, the food we had was excellent too & we would definitely go back again & hope we don’t encounter the same lady on reception. Again thank you to the other staff there for excellent professional service

A gorgeous hotel with a big heart!

We stayed in a double room with view. A lovely large room with a gorgeous view of the front lawn. The bedroom and en suite bathroom were gorgeous with both rooms having chandeliers. The shower was great re water pressure (like a massage) and lots of other luxurious aspects in bathroom. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was divine - a great menu and each choice did not disappoint. We made good use of the lounge bar and staff were very chatty and helpful. Although everything was very professional and polished re service, there was also a friendly and helpful style (which at times was very relaxed) which created a lovely atmosphere. Most definitely a hotel with a big heart. We will be back!

We have just spent two nights at the Coul House hotel with our friends and what a wonderful time we all had ! !The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us ! Chris in particular was extremely helpful and professional . He gave us information. On walks and cycling in the area and was so pleasant serving drinks etc.
The rooms were lovely and the food was fantastic with a good choice of dishes all beautifully presented !Breakfast was also most enjoyable with a really good choice .
We enjoyed sitting on the lovely terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens at the back of the hotel . The weather was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the staff .
We can’t wait to go back!

We stayed a few nights in room 24, a superior double rooms with preferred view overlooking the back garden. Stuart and Susannah are running a fantastic establishment in a wonderful building and grounds (and fairy walk) filled with naturally friendly, capable and thoughtful staff.

They met us upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome and looked after us during our entire stay. Their website does not overstate the claims, with excellent food and a wide range of drinks on offer.

I proposed to my partner during the stay, we had a long day planned with an early start. They liaised with us and carefully prepared a tasty packed lunch and hot food upon our late arrival, along with celebratory drinks despite the kitchen being closed. Coul House really helped us mark this special occasion and we also thank Lara and Chris for their extra efforts in making it so.

My only critique would be that some of the furnishings are a little dated and the rooms are on the smaller side.

However the owners should be rightfully proud of the hotel and we look forward to returning.

This is a traditonal style of hotel with an 'up-market' clientele maybe with rather traditional values (eg some men wearing ties for dinner). They welcome dogs, which enhanced our stay, but might not be for everyone. Our bedroom was furnished in a slightly old-fashioned style, but was comfortable, with a nice view of the lovely grounds. The food was certainly good, but perhaps not quite as outstanding as they think it is eg the 'fusion' elements in the dishes we tried did not work well. There is a serious wine list. Excellent service at all times.

This hotel deserves to be 4+ stars

Arrived at the hotel quite late after a long days drive. Stuart was very friendly and accommodating on arrival. We were shown to a small double room- which was very small, thankfully we aren’t the biggest but was more a three quarter bed. However, it was very very comfortable and the sheets and pillows felt very luxurious. We stayed in room 3.

The shower was amazing, a proper waterfall shower however could do with some branded nice toiletries. There was a kettle and selection of tea and biscuits. The room felt fresh and beautifully decorated in a traditional Victorian style.

I don’t think I’ve been to a cleaner hotel, everything was sparkling which is very important for me.

The breakfast was also exceptional, the garden around the house is beautiful and there are some lovely walks on site around the house.

Only few picks is that there could have been some more traditional Scottish tea or biscuits in the room to add to the traditional style the hotel seems to do so well. And also the bed was rather squeaky so woke me up a few times when turning over.
