There was a stale urine smell in the room we stayed in a large soppy wet spot next to the bed which I assumed was the source of the urine smell there was a used nasty wash cloth hanging up in the bathroom with brown stuff all over it the toilet paper holder metal hardware was laying on the floor by the toilet under the sheet on the bed had human hair clumps and to top it all of there was kids from a hockey tournament in the hallway shooting ice cubes everywhere they had nets set up the staff should of done something about it we did not finish our 2 day stay there we went to another hotel

Even though the reservation was fully in my name with a second adult listed, they refused to let me check in for both rooms which was a little ridiculous. Had to wait for the other adult to get there two hours later. The payment was made by me as well as the booking through Expedia so not sure what the problem was. Coffee cups & lids in the room were covered in dust, dead flies and webs in the window sills. Hair in bathtub and on bathroom sink that was definitely not mine.

Unfortunately the Room wasn't cleaned Good at all! Someone's Jacket was hanging in closet, the tub had hairs on the shelf, Toilet had skid mark in back of seat&No washrags!! Very Disappointed This time I stayed seemed farther down the Hall u went the Worse it Seemed Sad with Such A Beautiful View!! Plus the Crane game ripped us of Multiple times!

First room tub wouldn’t drain . Second room bathroom was dirty sheets were dirty and even the phone had grime on it . And the tub drained extremely slow in the second room, which is a hazard for anyone with children.

The bar & bartender were awesome. Good vibes, cheap drinks. Pool area was clean. Comfy beds. Only downfall seemed to be lack of staffing and no breakfast included. Had to wait forever to get checked in & when trying to get breakfast in the morning from the place on site nobody seemed to be working.

Staff was courteous but room had some issues. The entrance light didn't work. The toilet was dirty, there was a dirty wash rag on the shower curtain rod. The tub drain was slow. The facial tissue box was empty. It was a quiet room, bed linens were clean.

Rented here because it was the only thing left near Duluth, so I was a little worried since the price was so affordable, but I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. I will definitely be staying here again.

The room was quite run down. Doors squeaked. Closet doors stuck. We couldn’t control the temperature. A lot of evidence of trying to do patch jobs. Front desk, bar and restaurant staff were very nice. Breakfast was very reasonable and good.

Rooms need updating (old cabinets and drawers don’t open and close properly, etc) but that seems to be common these days. The beautiful entry, bar, and restaurant give a nice rich feel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Our shower dispensers were out of soap and shampoo and staff refilled them within five minutes of our request.

Room wasn’t spotless but was ok. Pretty run down. Hard to open closet doors. Hot and cold water were reversed. The room was freezing when we got in it so we turned the heat to 68. When we returned from our event the room was stifling hot and we couldn’t turn it down.

The front desk staff seemed as if I was bothering her. The room had sticky coffee stains on the nightstand and by the tv. The hair dryer had fallen off the wall, when I went to the front desk (because I didn’t want to be charged for damage) the same staff from check in had rudely chuckled “you won’t be charged”. The bedding was on sideways and the sheets were popping off the corners. It took the room over 4 hours to heat up with the heat turned to 90. The hotel hallways were freezing the entire time. There were no pool towels so walking the kids back to the room was very cold for them. There was no shampoo in the refillable containers in the shower. Just an all around unimpressive stay for the amount that was paid.

I absolutely loved the hotel. Played pool, kids went swimming, sat in the hot tube, bathroom was good, king size bed fit 3 people comfortably, the view of Lake Superior was amazing!!! Parking was very convenient to where our room was. At night hotel was very peaceful. During the day, kids were all over, Animals allowed so we heard barking, during the day. I will be back for sure. With my kids and without. Staff was coo, did their job fast and professionally. Also got incidentals back fast after check out. Heater worked great because it got cold at night, got so hot at nighy towned the heat down and that worked great too. Opened window for a fresh air, and the sound of thw water was great. Sat at the lake during the day and night. Wavea was so relaxing! P.S. I was moving slow because I was so comfortable, so slow I wasn't gonna be out by 11am. Called to ask for an extra 30 minutes and front desk approved. I was so happy about that! Because I didn't even want to leave. Lol

When we first stepped into our room, we were overwhelmed by the smell of cigarette smoke so we turned around and went back to the front desk. We were given another room, which smelled like some kind of product was used to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms had signs in them stating that all rooms were smoke free. Besides that, there was a used bottle of water left on the nightstand and paper on the floor under a table. Not cleaned well?

The other problem was that the guest rooms were located around the perimeter of the swimming pool and you could hear all the noise. There were over a dozen kids in the pool and hot tub so we didn't even attempt to go there. We like kids but this was a weekend getaway. At 10:30 p.m. we were trying to sleep, but the kids were screaming. My husband got up and went to the front desk to complain about the noise. The front desk manager didn't do anything about it, just stated that pool hours were from 8 am to 11 pm. A lot of hotels allow the kids to swim until 8 or 9 pm allowing adult time for an hour or two after that. We were looking forward to using the pool and hot tub.

We will never return to this hotel!

This place was so dirty and run down it should be condemned. On day two they just brought new towels in and roughly tried to make the beds. That's it. No vacuuming, wiping down anything, or cleaning the bathroom sink, toilet or tub......Gross.

The first room we were assigned was dirty all over. Had a dirty washcloth hanging in the shower curtain. Wife took a shower and the tub would not drain. This was 10PM so they put us in a similar room. It too was dirty as well. The drain did drain but very slowly. The bed had no top sheet. We where so exhausted that we slept in it anyway. Left a note for housekeeping. Not only did they ignore the note, the left the bed in a shambles. They also left dirty wash cloths on the floor. There was a wedding at this place with guests in rooms around us. Lots of kids and adults running up and down the hallway until 1 am. at 12:30 I asked the people in the hallway if they could tone it down and the one gentleman told me that some of the adults were fighting. I know I should have called the front desk. Housekeeping (for our wing) was a couple of college looking guys. Not the ladies in the housekeeping uniforms. From what I can tell they did not vacuuming in any rooms (including ours). Nothing in the bathroom was cleaned. We only received 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths. We will never stay there again.

Being on the harbor was nice and unique. Hotel lobby was clean and looked remodeled. Wish they would have put that money into remodeling the rest of the hotel. The rooms were very outdated, there were very young people as cleaners and you could tell by the way they acted things were not being cleaned. Our bathroom was very musty and sweaty smelling. There was hair all over the bathroom curtain and other stuff I didn't know. The room keys also do not work. We had to go to the front staff numerous times to have our keys re-scanned to work. Staff said it happens all the time because of the type of card. We are having our wedding in Superior next year and was hoping to have it at Barkers Island but until they remodel we can't ask our guests to stay at that hotel.

One of the beds did not appear clean. I slept in a blanket I had in my car. The fridge/ freezer was wobbly, and the microwave had, maybe pizza, splattered around inside. Very disappointing.
The building itself was very nice looking and staff were friendly. Very nice looking amenities in the building. Overall building and staff was good but our room was gross!

The bathroom was tiny & the sink was so tiny aith no counter space. Couldnt even put stuff on the toilet as it had NO toilet lid! Bogus old machine A/C too! No thermostat! The front desk told me it had not been updated since the 1980's!!
And this was rated a 4 star?
