I checked into Uptown Motel on May 20, 2026. I stayed till May 25th, 2026. During that time my room was only cleaned one time. The 3rd day of my stay. I had to ask to get some clean towels and have my garbage taken out. The little girl at the desk was very sweet and did get me fresh towels, but the bed linen was never changed in my room the whole stay.
Breakfast....I went into the dining room on one morning. I asked for the Eggs Benedick. It looked so good in the menu. I asked for the eggs to to over medium, Not running, Also asked to have the hashbrowns extra crispy. Well, eggs were running and hashbrowns were just whitist and warm. I ate a few bites and got up and paid my bill and left. I am sorry that this place has gone down hill so much. I have stayed here 4 years ago and it was great. This time left a poor taste in my mouth. The staff were nice, but, nothing was said to a refund on the food or lack of cleaning in my room. All they said was sorry???

The lobby was very dirty, no elevator, inside entrance. When we entered the room it was very dated, the floors were dirty, garbage under the bed making it obvious that there had not been a thorough cleaning and there was a strange smell. We checked out immediately and although challenging because everywhere was booked found a B&B for our stay. The hotel clerk was helpful in checking out and they did not charge us.

There was no breakfast and i was doubje charged for the room and over charged . Expedia charged me thdn thd motel charged me again for a larger amount. The pillows and sheets weren't changed from the prior guest and the room was dirty and stuffy.

What a cute motel; very friendly. We’ve stayed at hotels all around Alaska over the past few weeks; this place is affordable and super cute! Room was cozy, very clean and had all the amenities we needed, staff was very friendly. There is a restaurant, we opted to eat at the bar next door, they share a kitchen.

When I got to my room my TV would not turn on had to call the front desk she came right down and saw the cord had been cut she called the manager they upgraded me to a different room also I'm disabled an I use a walker to get around she helped me grab my things and move to different room cuz their doors are quite heavy an close fast so when they saw me they all would open the doors also they gave me a late check out which was very nice..an I also had dinner an a dessert an a drink which the ladies there were also very nice and their meal and drink were very tasty... I would definitely recommend staying there and eating there

This is an older hotel but appears to be in good shape. Personally, I liked the older feel this place had. It was very clean. The staff was great. The shower in my room wasn’t working great, so they moved me to another without hesitation. There is a restaurant and bar attached. The prices are a little high, but the portions were good, and I would expect high prices in a tourist town, especially one in Alaska.

My room was not clean. The bathroom floor and tub were full of hair and the bathroom light did not work. The carpet had not been vacuumed, and when I pulled back the sheets, they had not even been changed!! The pillow shams had what appeared to be snot wiped on the. Wish I could attach photos.

The staff demanded that they take copies of both the drivers license and credit card because I had book on Expedia. I went to Walmart n bought sheets, pillow and blanket. Cancelled my credit card and have a new one coming. The restaurant Louie’s is filthy dirty and correct food ordered was not received and they refused to remove it from the bill. Chargeback I initiated

My experience may be isolated, but perhaps worthy of sharing. We arrived around 2am, exhausted from traveling, and had a 5:30am commitment. When we arrived we merely pushed on the room door and it opened. The door latch was broken, not fully engaging into the door jamb. So we tried the dead bolt and it did not work at all. The night staff had no solution so we slept with a chair securing the door shut. Just a little uncomfortable for us, but it turned out alright. The dead bolt was fixed the next day. After a cold, rainy day fishing excursion the next day, we returned to the hotel room anticipating a nice hot shower. We were disappointed to learn the water was luke warm-to cool, at best. But what I think relevant is that we were told the room temperature was dictated by how much hot water was used by the hotel restaurant. Of the four days we stayed, we had only one hot shower. Not the end of the world, but a little disappointing.

Outside of this, the environment was safe and quiet, and the town was pleasant. The beds were comfortable, too.

Motel has a nice Alaskan lodge feel to it. Old styled decor and apparently an attached restaurant that is popular among locals.
Friendly front desk clerks. We had booked a room with 2 beds but none were available so they gave us two rooms with single bed. That was a nice gesture . They didn’t make two grown men sleep in one bed.
Amenities of fridge and microwave.
Only thing wrong was that the shower didn’t work . The diverter lever from bath to shower was broken. Quiet environment

The Uptown was not our first pick hotel, just based on the outside appearance, but no other hotels within our price range were accepting reservations at 1 AM (we had been dipnetting until after midnight) so we decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! Ignore negative reviews. Our room was immaculate, comfortably set up, and had adequate supplies for our needs. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the older style of the interior decor was solid and classy. We especially loved the real wood trim, interior doors, etc, and the old style brass key for our room, instead of a key card. We stayed two nights in two different rooms: first a basic double queen, second a king suite with a jacuzzi. Both were excellent! (Pictures are of the king suite.)
We had breakfast at the restaurant downstairs the next morning and it was every bit as good as the room. We LOVED the decor and the service and food were excellent. (Be warned, however, if you hate hunting and can't stand to see animal mounts, you probably won't like this restaurant!)
We enjoyed our stay so much that when we finished fishing the next day, there was no question in our minds where we would stay the night. *When we tried to book our second night's stay online, we received an error saying that they were full or only accepted reservations for more than one night's stay. This was not true. If you receive a similar notice, call the motel!

Perfect for the hunter or fisherman. No elevator though so humping gear upstairs can be annoying after a long excursion.
Louis restaurant, which is attached to the hotel serves up wonderful Alaskan meals. Expect to get well fed.

Staff was excellent. Yes, it's older but in a nostalgic way. It actually takes a key to open the door and don't forget to lock when you leave. They don't automatically lock when you shut the door. Room was warm (was -15 out) and nice hot shower with great water pressure.

They only have one room available if you book through Hotels. Terrible, uncomfortable beds. Beds were listed as full size, they are single and very short. I slept better in the chair.

The hotel was empty, they could have given us a different room. This place is for sale, no wonder. I will never stay there again.
