The location is central, and the basic needs are met. The building itself is pretty dated and has that musk, but check in and check out was great and we slept very well. The attached bar is a bonus for some good ol’ Alaskan fun. Breakfast was basic continental but had good options and does the job for fueling you for adventures ahead. Staying here definitely gives off that old school Alaskan feel.

When we pulled up to this hotel, I was afraid that we made a big mistake. It is old and not well cared for on the outside. We checked into our room and were pleasantly surprised. Not many options to choose from - Valdez is amazing and wherever you stay you will be happy as long as you get out there and explore! This hotel was decent - pretty clean, but older and a bit musty smelling. Breakfast was good, shower sounded like it was going to explode but was hot and did the job. Great location - definitely over priced for the type of hotel it is.

Nice place to stay in town near everything. Walk to grocery store, walking paths, harbor front and downtown. Friendly staff, had all the amenities and great breakfast. Comfortable beds and rooms!. Would love to stay again. No elevator so had to carry suitcases upstairs!

Even though the staff was very friendly, the hotel did not meet our expectations. Smoke alarm went off due to steam after showering, had to open window and door to get it to stop. Noise level from upstairs was HORRIBLE, made it impossible to sleep and we had a charter the next day. Everything very dated, lamp shade fell off when turning on, burn marks on carpet. Will not be staying here again.

This hotel is a two-minute walk from the harbor, just behind a brewery and food trucks, next door to a fabulous outdoor/ recreational store and across the street from the museum. The mature, sourdough of a gentleman at the front desk was very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. We enjoyed his dry humor and laid-back style. The rooms are basic and a bit dated, but the mattresses, bedding and down (or alternative) comforters are newer, perfectly fine. The room surprisingly offered the usual toiletries that were of a medium scaled quality. The breakfast was what one generally expects. For the price, there was nothing to complain about! We would recommend it for a no-frills option and would definitely stay again.

Rooms are spacious with two queen size beds. Property appears to be old and dimly lit. Our room heater was not working do had to change it late in the evening/night. Second room had turntable missing in the microwave which was replaced by the staff. Breakfast is basic. If you do not eat eggs there us plenty of bread and bagels. If you drink tea you have to heat up the water in the kettle. If you want to have any fruit for breakfast make sure you are there early before 7:30 as they place fruits only once.

We had a great experience during our stay at the Hotel Glacier. Maria at the front desk is a star, so helpful, so kind and so efficient….we appreciate all her efforts to make our stay comfortable in what turned out to be opening week for the season. With unseasonably cold weather some things just need workarounds- TV wasn’t working yet, but Wi-Fi was excellent so we could stream shows. Plenty of hot water, fluffy towels and warm bedding to stay cozy. Easy walking to most sights & restaurants. Don’t be fooled by a tired exterior-inside decor is fresh and clean. Good value!

Bedbugs, bites, bloody sheets and no refunds.
The mattress had tons of what looked like black pepper and blood stains all over it, it was covered in bugs. My daughter got bit all over. I tried calling downstairs and no one answered, I went down there and no one was there for over 30 minutes. The lady even told us that if we got locked outside at night, she would buzz us in. That was a lie because she wasnt at the desk to let anyone in! We werent able to find anyone to tell them the room had bedbugs and we left an hour after checking in and never got a refund! Never stay here! You can tell how old and outdated everything is at this place. An ice maker from the 80's, lamps and bedding from the 90's, 10 year old mattresses and 15 year old TVs in the room and nothing worked. Absolutely terrible experience and I was charged for just being there an hour or less because the front desk goes to sleep after 10pm.

I stayed the night with a friend and everything was perfect except for one little thing: when taking a shower, the water would, without warning, suddenly turn very hot, go back to normal, then turn ice cold. Other than this, the rooms were spotless, well maintained, and the service was excellent.

When I walked in the room, smelled clean (like bleach) and looked clean- I turned on the heater and then my room had a smell so awful I slept with the window open all the way -despite the rain- and the bathroom fan on all the time. There was trash under both beds.
Across the hall my co-worker had mold on the ceiling of his bathroom. They did come clean it with bleach that night, and the next day sent maintenance to cut out the mold and replace the sheetrock....not a great experience.

The hotel is somewhat run down. However, looking at the other hotels in Valdez, which also appear rundown, this hotel was average. The baseboard heater made it hard to adjust the room temperature. The largest issue we had was that the mattress is actually about 6” larger than the frame underneath. It caused the edge of the bed to fold over. This should be fixed by replacing the frames with the correct size.

Our stay was pleasant. You are only a couple of blocks waking distance to restaurants, food trucks, harbor and other activities. We felt safe walking.
But beware, if you get a front room the traffic is very noisy. The double container trucks roll by all day and into the night. If you open the window you can't hear the TV. So bring ear plugs.

This hotel is my go-to place in Valdez! Clean, comfortable room. Great shower. Friendly staff. One of the best breakfasts I've had at a motel. They even tody up the room and bring fresh towels everyday. This is a great place!

Stayed two nights with my family, good sized rooms (we had 2) clean and tidy though one room had no view to be delighted with,the other looked over a snow capped mountain and the street outside. A hot breakfast is included but it’s not particularly healthy (need more fruit options than just bananas). The bed was comfortable and the towels were fluffy. No gym. Plenty of ice. The decor would benefit from an update. The only odd thing was that the hot and cold faucet was reversed at the bathroom sink, but we got used to turning it counterintuitively. Fine place to stay for two nights.

The place is older but well taken care of. The breakfast was the most I was impressed of. Real eggs, potatoes, and sausage. Biscuit and gravy with fresh coffee all day. Be sure to bring ear plugs it helps not only in this hotel but others alike. It will help you sleep better because Valdez doesn't.

Hotel location is good, very convenient to go to everywhere, no matter dining or supermarket or the harbor. The room is well equipped, and the hotel lobby provides lemon water, hot water and coffee, which made us feel the hotel is warm and convenient and welcoming. The breakfast chef made good waffles.
