Bedbugs, bites, bloody sheets and no refunds.

The mattress had tons of what looked like black pepper and blood stains all over it, it was covered in bugs. My daughter got bit all over. I tried calling downstairs and no one answered, I went down there and no one was there for over 30 minutes. The lady even told us that if we got locked outside at night, she would buzz us in. That was a lie because she wasnt at the desk to let anyone in! We werent able to find anyone to tell them the room had bedbugs and we left an hour after checking in and never got a refund! Never stay here! You can tell how old and outdated everything is at this place. An ice maker from the 80's, lamps and bedding from the 90's, 10 year old mattresses and 15 year old TVs in the room and nothing worked. Absolutely terrible experience and I was charged for just being there an hour or less because the front desk goes to sleep after 10pm.

This is not a pet friendly hotel. They do not allow pets. We paid, went all the way there and were turned down because we had pets. The staff was AMAZING and referred us to another hotel with availability bit....definitely NOT pet friendly

I stayed the night with a friend and everything was perfect except for one little thing: when taking a shower, the water would, without warning, suddenly turn very hot, go back to normal, then turn ice cold. Other than this, the rooms were spotless, well maintained, and the service was excellent.

When I walked in the room, smelled clean (like bleach) and looked clean- I turned on the heater and then my room had a smell so awful I slept with the window open all the way -despite the rain- and the bathroom fan on all the time. There was trash under both beds.
Across the hall my co-worker had mold on the ceiling of his bathroom. They did come clean it with bleach that night, and the next day sent maintenance to cut out the mold and replace the sheetrock....not a great experience.

The hotel is somewhat run down. However, looking at the other hotels in Valdez, which also appear rundown, this hotel was average. The baseboard heater made it hard to adjust the room temperature. The largest issue we had was that the mattress is actually about 6” larger than the frame underneath. It caused the edge of the bed to fold over. This should be fixed by replacing the frames with the correct size.

Our stay was pleasant. You are only a couple of blocks waking distance to restaurants, food trucks, harbor and other activities. We felt safe walking.
But beware, if you get a front room the traffic is very noisy. The double container trucks roll by all day and into the night. If you open the window you can't hear the TV. So bring ear plugs.

Fifth stay here!

This hotel is my go-to place in Valdez! Clean, comfortable room. Great shower. Friendly staff. One of the best breakfasts I've had at a motel. They even tody up the room and bring fresh towels everyday. This is a great place!

Basic hotel but done well.

Stayed two nights with my family, good sized rooms (we had 2) clean and tidy though one room had no view to be delighted with,the other looked over a snow capped mountain and the street outside. Beds soft and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but good, coffee, hot chocolate and chilled water always available in the reception area. Very happy and exceeded expectations.

A conventional hotel in a convenient location, across from the Valdez Museum and a short walk to many food trucks. A hot breakfast is included but it’s not particularly healthy (need more fruit options than just bananas). The bed was comfortable and the towels were fluffy. No gym. Plenty of ice. The decor would benefit from an update. The only odd thing was that the hot and cold faucet was reversed at the bathroom sink, but we got used to turning it counterintuitively. Fine place to stay for two nights.

The place is older but well taken care of. The breakfast was the most I was impressed of. Real eggs, potatoes, and sausage. Biscuit and gravy with fresh coffee all day. Be sure to bring ear plugs it helps not only in this hotel but others alike. It will help you sleep better because Valdez doesn't.

Hotel location is good, very convenient to go to everywhere, no matter dining or supermarket or the harbor. The room is well equipped, and the hotel lobby provides lemon water, hot water and coffee, which made us feel the hotel is warm and convenient and welcoming. The breakfast chef made good waffles. All around great! I read reviews so when I saw the good reviews and high rating on Hotel Glacier, we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! The hotel didn't look like much on the outside but the lobby was nice and clean. Check-In was easy. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good. $100/night less expensive than another nearby option. We will definitely stay at Hotel Glacier when we return to Valdez and would highly recommend.

Avoid Anadyr Adventures Company @Valdez

We tried to voice our complaints, but it’s clear that the owner, Scott, does not manage things properly. A quick look at the 1-star reviews confirms that he ignores customer concerns. We want to warn all tourists: never book with this company.

What we experienced was unacceptable—discrimination and humiliation from their guide. No one should pay money only to be treated this way. Even other customers confronted Scott about the guide’s behavior, but nothing was done.

This business does not deserve customers, and we hope travelers stay away before they face the same mistreatment.

While the facility is showing its age and doesn't have much by way of amenities, I will say the bed was very comfortable and I probably slept better there than anywhere else I stayed over my three weeks in Alaska. The location is also good, I could walk anywhere I wanted to visit

We (me, Trophy Husband) are on a two month road trip from Nevada to Alaska and back. And we are hoteling it. So, I'm constantly reading reviews and looking to save some money if possible. This is why I picked the Glacier Hotel. They were more moderately priced than some of the other hotels in town.

The Pros: The young man (I believe his name is Jamar) who checked us in was outstanding! Personable, helpful (we had an issue with no TV remote and he went above and beyond to find us one) and professional. The rooms are decent size and have the standard amenities; TV, microwave, mini fridge, hair dryer, windows with screens (this matters). Breakfast is better than average with something for everyone. Water pressure is incredible and shower water gets nice and hot. No frills and is centrally located/easily walkable to most places in town.

Cons: No elevator. Only two stories but if you're an overpacker then your Trophy Husband may be grumpy after everything has been hauled upstairs. No AC. Use those windows to your advantage. This is an older property and shows its age.

Travel Pro tip: We splurged on a Venty fan (portable, compact, rechargeable oscillating fan, on Amazon) and it has saved this trip - very few places have (a need for) AC. I can't recommend this compact fan enough, especially here! Use an eye mask, ear plugs and/or sound machine (app) to drown out some of the noise from late arriving travelers who have no clue it's as late as it is in the busy summer season.

Ordinary budget hotel at Alaska Valdez accommodation prices. Pretty warn down. Heaters are old style panels close to the floor with a control knob. We had to switch rooms because my wife couldn’t climb stairs easily. One room had firmer beds but we sank into the beds in the other room. Staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was okay. Heavy on carbs other than scrambled eggs. It is about a 7-minute walk to the harbor. Very close to restaurants, etc. by car. Opposite the Valdez museum and close to the visitors center. All in all, an okay place.

The hotel is older and the beds aren't very comfortable, the water pressure was assaulting, and the shower head was hard to move to get away from the pressure. But the customer service was excellent and the staff was very friendly! They let us check in early, which was very appreciated after we had spent the previous night in a dry cabin, and it was a decent place to stay for the price. If you're used to luxury, this is not the hotel for you. But if your looking for something more accommodating than a dry cabin, this is just fine. I would stay here again.

This is an older hotel that has been rennovated and is in very good shape. I would definitely stay here again as it is more reasonably priced than most other options. A free hot breakfast is a plus and staff very helpful. Nothing stands out as to anything we didnt like but I would have liked to turn down the temperature at night. We were able to open windows to let cool air in before bedtime and that helped.

Made a reservation at this hotel because they advertised having a bar. When checking in I asked when it open that evening was informed it would not be opening. I think for renovations. Later that evening I called the front desk because I could not get any tv channels and was informed the hotel was having problems with reception. Both issues should have been mentioned at check in with the option to cancel my reservation instead of having to discover the problems. Felt like the hotel was not being honest which is unethical.

The hotel has an amazing view of the mountains. I loved being able to open the window, have the fresh air and mountain view while laying in bed. The beds were very comfortable and the down comforters were very nice. Overall appearance of hotel is dated, but it was comfortable and close to walking distance to shops/food.
