Having just spent a week with my daughter at this amazing hotel, we cannot praise it enough. Everything was perfect. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne and a room upgrade, and the rest of the stay followed suit. Couldn’t fault the facilities and everything was immaculately clean.
Really well located in Crete and great front of house staff that were happy to help and provide suggestions. A week of luxury and couldn’t recommend enough! Hoping to return again some day - thank you!

When we left 5 am they packed breakfast for us
It’s touched me. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent. Very beautiful and cozy resort with olive trees and gardens all around. My family loved it. The private beach was clean and beautifully well kept. I can see their high standards. Would recommend to my friends and family.

Lovely spot on the coast

Beautiful setting! Services, accommodation, hotel facilities were first rate. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Complimentary champagne on arrival was also very nice touch.

Room rate included half board, in the form of a voucher at check-in. The buffet dinner and breakfast were only okay, but regular restaurant meals were very good. Small beach area and pool were very nice, permitting lovely views of the sea and coastline.

From start to finish, this hotel is amazing. We came to this hotel for our final stop on our honeymoon We found out our ferry was delayed so we called to let the staff know we would be checking in very late at night. Nikos arranged for the staff to provide us with dinner when we arrived, even thought the restaurants were closed. Nikos was amazing and extremely generous to us. The entire staff made us feel at home. If we come back to Crete, we will definitely be staying here. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to just relax at a resort.

Sixth stay and even better

This was our sixth visit to St Nicholas Bay which says it all. We are treated so well by the manager and all the staff. The rooms and facilities are excellent and we always leave feeling fully relaxed and planning our next visit.

Beautiful views from some rooms and suites.

Fantastic views. Slight disappointment how we were treated by Nikos, front desk manager. We asked for another room as the first one oferred did not match the description. Nikos helped us and finally the third room on the next day after arrival was resembling what we had booked. Unfortunately Nikos showed his irritation and suggested that the last room we decided to stay in was his special gift for us. Then he ignored us through out the rest of our stay and turned his eyes away whenever met. It was clearly unacceptable way of behaviour of the hotel employee of this level. Apart from this not very nice experience everything else was fine.

Overall had a good time at St Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel and Spa.

Positives were beautiful grounds, clean and new rooms (we stayed in the junior deluxe club sea view suite), a few options for eating at hotel, very good spa facilities and treatments; friendly staff; very good views, good restaurants within 15-25 minutes walk to town, few options for sunbathing (pools, beach and rocks), good parking facilities, and they kindly let us have a late check-out 19:00 pm.

Less positives were food and service was mixed and pricie (I guess price is what you'd expect for a resort, but we found the quality elsewhere a lot better for much less). Our shower had really good water pressure but wouldn't drain / blocked so had to turn off during shower when washing hair. I travelled with my sister and we spent 5 days at resort, I had requested a twin bed room but they couldn't provide. Also very difficult to get sun-bed near the pool. You have to go early and put your towel down.

Overall we loved Crete and the beach and weather was the absolute highlight!

Very Relaxing Hotel

Lovely comfortable hotel with super sea views. Excellent polite staff, very efficient in their duties.

Good breakfast selection with hot and cold buffet items. Also a hot items menu to choose from and cooked fresh and brought to your table along with a choice of tea and coffee.

Selection of places to relax and sunbathe, either by the sea or by the pool.

Nice hotel in a great location with beautiful grounds, Amazing Staff, really good breakfast and 20 min walk to town. Rooms lacking a bit and doesn't feels like a five star hotel therefore a bit overpriced in my opinion but overall a good choice to stay and definitely recommended.

Lovely Hotel for Couples

First class hotel ,well located with beutiful sea views offering excellent and friendly staff service. Our room enjoyed great views over the pool area of the Bay, and was kept spotlessly clean, as was the whole hotel resort.
We found the Hotel quiet and a little lacking in atmosphere in the evenings, but a six Euro taxi ride (all Mercedes)to Agios Nicolas, provides a lovely clean and interesting small town with a great choice of restaurants, tavernas, and bars.

We stayed here for one week. The hotel amenities are good, we had a delux room sea front with lovely views. Personally I wouldn't pay extra for a suite with a pool unless you don't mind swimming in a box, walls either side for privacy although the rooms above can look directly down onto your pool and terrace area. Good friendly efficient staff, plenty of sun beds and beach towels. The majority of beds. Are on stone/concrete terraces, functional but not pleasing to the eye. The site was always windy, great if it's very hot but on cooler days this may be a problem. Also if you are not able to get a space on the very small beach or around the pool lots of steps to negotiate. The resort was very peaceful and quiete both during the day and evening. We were on half board so we could have lunch on the buffet restaurant but if we chose to ate in the other restaurants we received a 25% discount on food, a little mean, I thought it might be a supplement for certain items. We were not allowed to swop HB option to lunchtime, only the 25% discount. We ate three times in the hotel in the evening the buffet selection was perfectly adequate, we also chose to select off the very small menu in the buffet but was very disappointed with both the quality and quantity produced. We had a few lunches but we're very disappointed, very basic dishes, and very expensive compared to restaurants locally. I recommend lunch at piato, within walking distance. Excellent hosts, food, and price.

Luxurious oasis

We had a wonderful 10 night stay with our 5 month old son. The hotel is not particularly pram friendly and they could do with an earlier sitting for families but the staff are exceptional and very accommodating. The food was delicious every day and the resort maintains a very high standard. Would love to visit again...without the baby this time!

Welcoming and high standard hotel

My recent stay was a return visit having stayed at St Nicolas Bay last year on a solo trip. This time I was accompanied by my partner and we stayed in a sea-view double room. Having viewed other hotels in the area online I felt this hotel still ticked all the boxes compared to the others. It has great views, clean rooms and beautifully kept gardens along with great food, excellent service and lovely spa. The beach isn't that expansive though so if you're wishing to spend all day on the sand this may not be quite the one for you-that said, the beach is clean and well looked after. I would happily return once again to this hotel.

Good hotel close to the ocean

Pros: Lovely infinity pool area with lots of sun loungers but could do with more of the larger umbrellas to shield from the sun. The staff were the nicest and most helpful of any of the hotels where we have stayed. The location is good approximately a 30 minute walk into the town of Ag Nik but as there is a steep hill to climb on the way back so we took a taxi. The premises are a little confusing to begin with but it doesn't take long to orientate yourself. There are slopes and stairs to negotiate but one man's wife who was in a wheelchair said it was not too bad as she could walk a little if required. We had half-board and could choose between the buffet (loads of food) or 4 - 5 choices on the menu. The food was pretty good and the desserts delicious. The breakfast was an extensive buffet and/or a menu choice.

Cons: Our bed was very hard. We like a firm bed but this one was beyond that. After 2 nights we asked at the front desk if we could move rooms (from Room 230) but we were told that all the beds were the same. However we could have a mattress topper which made all the difference. I wish we had known that when we checked in. Also there was a one inch gap between the shower (half) door and the edge of the bath so water poured out and flooded the bathroom every time the shower was in use. It was such a pain mopping up all the water. We tried everything such as putting large towels down the outside of the bath to mop up the water but there was too much water

Fab hotel, a worthy 5 star

Just returned from a family holiday and have to say the hotel was definitely as good as previous reviews reported.

Staff were wonderful and helpful, food excellent and beach clean and well maintained. Our 2 year old loved the kids play room and we were able to leave him with the nursery worker which was a bonus as the website had said that children under 4 would need parental supervision.

We're quite fussy when it comes to nice hotels but this one definitely reached out expectations.

Superb hotel with it's own beach

We had a very relaxing holiday staying at this hotel. We had an excellent standard room (it was more like an apartment with a double bedroom, 2 bathrooms, lounge area & large balcony). On arrival we were escorted to and given a quick tour of our room by the manager. The welcome pack included sparkling wine and pastries along with a large bottle of water. Also on arrival, the hotel asked if there was any special occasion during our stay - as it was our wedding anniversary, they arranged to provide a cake (it was a delicious chocolate cake) after our restaurant dinner!

All the hotel staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. There was a huge variety available at the buffet breakfast, and table service was provided for ordering omelettes, pancakes, toast, tea/coffee. During our stay we ate at 2 of the hotel's a la carte restaurants, the food and ambience was superb, as was the service. The hotel's restaurants were a bit pricey (although the food is of a very high standard) but there were lots of reasonably priced tavernas nearby.

The hotel has landscaped gardens which were a delight to walk through on the way to breakfast/pool/beach. There were lots of options for sunbathing: 2 pools, a small beach and extensive terraced areas next to the beach, so we never had a problem getting suitable sunloungers. The hotel provides fresh towels every day for sunbathing and waiter service all day.

This hotel thoroughly deserves its 5 star rating. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Geek Getaway..

The staff couldn’t do enough for you, we arrived very late and the manager got the restaurant to rustle us up some fantastic steaks washed down with plenty of Mythos. This was a great start to a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The only issue was the weather, but you can’t legislate for that.

Great facilities, wonderful staff.

Upon arrival I found I was allocated a room adjoining my friends. This would have been fine but my room was a child's room next door to what would have adjoined a parent's room with no safe or fridge and only a small bed even though I had paid the same price as my friend. We were also told we had been upgraded to a sea view room even though we had paid for a Sea view room when booking. After I complained the manager/ owner told i would have to wait until the morning to be moved to a more suitable room but with the support of the female receptionist they managed to find a room for me that first night. After this initial hiccup the rest of my stay was great. However my friend got food poisoning after eating seafood at the restaurant the first night so I ended up spending my entire four days stay doing things alone while she recovered.

This hotel is OK. However, it is not 5 star across the board. Through talking to the staff it is widely acknowledged that 10 to 20 rooms are not up to the standard that you would expect.
After two days in resort our room was changed, although, this was after considerable debate.
Having said that, the position is good. The staff in the bars and restaurants were great. As was housekeeping.
If they sorted the bad rooms I would recommend this hotel.

Chic high quality hotel all round

Chic, high quality furnishings, excellent choice and quality of food for half-board. Invariably smiling and attentive staff. Pleasant but smallish pool area with small beach and sunning platforms and bar/restaurant below overlooking beach area.
The site is relatively small which on one hand lends to the air of exclusivity and reduces numbers of guests. On the other hand though it feels a little 'hemmed-in'. If you are looking for expansive grounds in which to wander this is not the place.
Also the site and all the rooms face due East sloping down to the shore and most rooms will lose any sun after 2.00pm .

Outstanding!

Just returned from an incredible holiday to St Nicolas Bay Resort. I cannot recommend this place more highly.

We stayed in a standard sea view room which was really spacious with a great sized balcony. You really do get what you pay for at this place. We hardly left the resort because we were so attached. It has a nice little village feel about it. It is a perfect size space-wise and in terms of the number of other guests.

We will be going back for sure.
