Room was beautiful and spacious. Loved the bathroom, the rainshower was great, double sinks made getting around an ease. The lighted mirror was helpful. Great amentities, the twice a day cleaning ensured you never needed anything The view was absolutely amazing. The pillows and bed were incredibly comfortable. Staff were very accommodating.

When we arrived at the resort after a long taxi ride, we received a fantastic welcome from the staff. Martin (the Guest Manager) quickly seated us at a table in the lounge, where we were served a refreshing drink and cold towels. He took care of the entire check-in process there and explained how everything works at the resort.

While we were waiting for our room to be ready—we arrived well before check-in—we were served afternoon tea. The rooms at this resort offer a spectacular view, as it is built along a mountainside overlooking the ocean. We were completely overwhelmed.

The staff at this resort are absolutely wonderful. Everyone makes sure you have everything you need and is always happy to stop for a friendly chat, which makes the experience feel very personal. They remember what we usually order and ask the next time if we would like to have the same again.

Examples of staff groups we interacted with include the lounge, breakfast, reception, traffic control, housekeeping, gardening, transport/shuttle, restaurant, and bar staff. Every single one of them is outstanding.

It’s a nice property, but needs a renovation and new management. The Swedish manager that I suffer is not capable of making a decent team of his employees and even keep the property clean at the level of their pricing. The employees have goodwill but when a property is badly manage the team becomes an operational nightmare.
Find another property to enjoy your holidays until this one finds its way and attention to detail in line with their premium pricing

Good for some calm relaxation but...

Inter continental Koh Samui is located in the secluded area called the Baan Taling Ngam beach. It's 50 min ride from the airport and it seems there's no neighborhood near by.

Also since the hotel is built on a cliff, to reach the restaurant or the beach, you always need to call a buggy. You could walk down a flight of stairs to get to the beach from the lobby, and it's quite fun as you have to pass a suspension bridge, but it's difficult to do so several times a day as it is very hot. So buggy it is.

Staffs are all very sweet but they are not very skillful at their jobs. Nobody comes to me first, I always have to go ask for things even when checking in! Also I had experienced difficulties communicating with the staffs in English.

Furthermore, the HandiGo app they make you download as soon as you check in, it's not very helpful as they don't reply to your chat for 30 minutes and even then, you some times experience difficulties in communication.

Finally, the hotel is known for its great veiw of the sunset. However, I stayed three nights and didn't get to see the sunset, not even once!, due to the weather. So if you are choosing this hotel for the sunset, check with the weather before you come.

Wonderful experience!

It was a great experience stay at intercontinental Samui. Great staff and service, the location seems quite far from the urban areas such as fisherman’s village but hotel has shuttle bus three rounds a day to go to those places. And if you just wanna stay in the hotel and chill, it was actually a great location, quiet, great sea view, perfect sunset! You have to see the sunset on the beach there! Breakfast was just ok, coffee was good though. Overall it was worth it.

The hotel is secluded which is great but also requires for transportation to anything outside the hotel. If you want to eat in a local restaurant rather than the hotel it's a 30 min Car Ride away. As long as that is acceptable to you no issue but if you like to go outside the hotel from time to time this can be an issue. There is nothing around the hotel area that can be deemed as acceptable, at least not what we have been able to check out.

A stunning resort. The Ocean view room was perfect, private and quiet. There are several pools, each with its own charms. The beach and sea swimming are not the best, but I did see some people swimming and snorkeling. The best things about this resort are the location and, most important, the people who work there. Friendly and kind - I was very impressed with the dining room staff, in particular. But everyone I encountered was professional, helpful, and pleasant. As others have said, there’s not a lot nearby the resort but it is very self-contained. I was solo and enjoyed four days of pure peace and down time. I will say that the Thai food on offer in the all-day dining room was uninspired and somewhat expensive after Bangkok. But that is my only criticism.

we had a pleasant stay an the Intercontinental. the staff are excellent and friendly. food was also very good. our only real issue was the room size of our classic room ocean view. its promoted as being 760 sq feet but when we got there we were shocked how small it was. thats because they fail to mention that 1/3rd of the floor area is a terrace which really cant be used for most of the day as it gets full sun and no shade. the room is more 500 sq feet with very little wardrobe space as they had to set up clothes racks for us.

Very secluded and very expensive

Resort is located on secluded beach, the good of which is privacy and the bad is that hotel is severely over-priced (with no alternatives to buy anything). Expect New York City prices, drinks at $15 each (never a happy hour), meals at $30 per person. Also, the resort requires vigorous exercise, with 300 stairs up front the beach to the top of the resort. Good news is that the resort is Covid-careful, well run in that important respect.

ps: We paid $900 nightly for two-bedroom family villa. A walk down the beach revealed at small resort with similar rooms at a tiny fraction of that price.

Overall speaking this is a very pleasant journey. We stayed at a two bedroom villa, kids love the spacious room. We have enjoyed two in villa dining. Kids love the kids club sooo much, the activities there kept them busy and indulge with fun.

The really down side was the last two days during our stay, the hotel hosted an activity with a private function ( some sort of fashion show). We were bar to access to some areas, those VIPs are treated differently, they are the VIPs and other guests become minority. We were unable to call buggies or it took us much time, this made it didn’t want to leave the room as we afraid we needed to wait for a long time for buggy. The loud music at night woke us up. We were unable to have lunch at the main restaurant on one day. Though the duty manager has tried her best to explain and gave us a bottle of free wine as a token of our inconvenience. I guess next time the hotel should consider to shut down the hotel for guest when they hold function. I might hesitate to come back again due to this experience.

The hotel is beautiful and the service is perfect. However, it is a bit isolated from almost everything so you need a car or a scooter to get in touch with the real Koh Samui and locals.
Prices for restaurants and bars at the hotel as well as all non-complementary activities are just too expansive (they charge London prices) therefore you feel a bit trapped given the isolation of the hotel.

5 star resort with killer views

The resort is on a beautiful piece of land over looking the whole hillside into their private beach. Although, you technically can't just run into the water from the beach, due to the rocks, they have a long dock 100yrds (prob the size of a football field) that goes far enough to the point where you can swim. It seems like every room on the property had a killer view. The only downside would be the location. It is far away from all the bars and clubs. I would recommend this place for people that want to relax with their significant other or family members. If you were there with some friends to hang out and party from time to time, I would not recommend this hotel due to the location. Otherwise, this hotel is killer!!!!!

A great getaway and a great resort!

We stayed at the Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort from 30 November to 4 December and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hotel grounds are sprawling and yet, remains quite private. The rooms are in great condition notwithstanding that they look a bit aged. Service-wise, the hotel is top notch. The staff were always polite, helpful and gracious, and did whatever they could to attend to our needs (we were there with our 5 year old son who enjoyed the attention). The hotel beach is clean and well-kept (and private too!). At this time of the year, the water was clear though not was warm as we'd have liked but swimming in the ocean was not an issue at all.

Food-wise, the hotel has got good offerings from Amber & Flames, both offering great food options (local to International). The Air Bar is also a must-see especially for its glorious sunset views, and its cocktails and canapes. There are also great alternatives from nearby restaurants like Island View (this one is fantastic!) and I-Talay both of which are more affordable and can provide transport to and from the hotel (not to mention food delivery services!).

Overall, this is a great resort. I recommend considering Club privileges too since they made a huge difference for our stay.

I booked the Beachfront Pool Villa, it was amazing, I strongly recommend you spend the extra money to get this room. For the nice view, and location (Near the main pool and the beach and restaurant.) Tried the Spa in the hotel too was perfect! The hotel overal had everything you need with quality. Location wise is far from the main crowd in Chaweng Beach (around 30 min by car) recommend you rent a car with a driver that costed me 4000 bahts from mid-day to 10pm.

Heaven on Earth. We went to the W in Bophut after, and that really seemed pretentious/hipster compared to the IC. Great service, amenities, design, and location. Wish we could go back, but IC location/property I've ever been on.

Hotel was hidden in the mountain, the hotel beach is awful completely different from the photos, the main pool is very small and looks dirty, the food is extremely expensive and very awful (small bottle of water U$D 5.00, small local beer U$D 8.00, personal pizza U$D25.00, awful rib eye steak U$D 50.00) there is nothing to do around, you need to take a cab to do something, the cheapest cab to the closest P.O.I is U$D 40.00 and up. I do not recommend this hotel to anybody. Hotel like this (hidden) should have an excellent facilities (beach and pool al least). Staff very kind.

nice for 3-4 days

we enjoy our stay at this hotel, the villa are nice but we find troublesome to use every time a buggy to go to lobby or beach or gym….the villas are far away from the lobby and on a very steep slope, so it's not easy to walk from and to…and buggy are not always available, sometimes we waited over 15 min. Food is ok but nothing really great, but the breakfast is very good and complete!.

Firstly didnt get the room we booked online but they upgraded us and showed us the room which looked okay to us so we werent that disappointed. They gave us 619, which had a bad smell from the loo, which got worse on the last day of our stay so we mentioned it to the receptionist on check out, it didnt really bother us earlier. Air conditioning in Public areas needs improvement. Being a resort they wouldn't have much air conditioning in public areas but I mean there should be areas where its on so a guest feeling hot can go and sit.
Otherwise had a great time dining and drinking at their outlets and of course the staff really were excellent. But check in took too long and I saw other guests checking in experiencing the same problem of a delayed check in. They need to improve that for sure.

Arrived yo breathtaking view. Lovely staff shi attended to every request promptly. Suggest hire a vehicle for duration as hotel is remote from shopping. We hired a car for 9 days which was inexpensive and great to halve. Plenty if parking and shuttles to car park on demand.
Check restaurant prices before indulging in special events as a la carte cheaper.

Great resort if you like to stay in the resort and relax. But there's nothing outside of the resort and you need to take a cab for almost everything. a typical cab ride is 45 mins to 1 hr to where civilization is. Cabs are surprisingly expensive.

On the beach, service there wasn't that great, not enough beach chairs, food was gross. The staff isn't trained to give you a towel and make sure you have a chair and order drinks/food (what you would normally get in a 4/5 star hotel). The pools are bad except the one by the skybar. The hotel is nice, the rooms are great and spacious but the beach was a true disappointment. They did however have Free Wifi and lovely looking villas and a spa.

Great Hotel With Nice Sea View & Exclusive Beach

I would highly recommend this hotel for family or couple who seeks tranquility. An excellent hotel with very clean rooms and great sea view. I stayed in the guest room with sea view for my first night and moved to the beach pool villa the next day. The transition was smooth and I did not have to wait in the lobby. For the villa, we were assigned a personal butler who took care of us during our stay. Hotel can help arrange for transport to and fro to airport (chargeable). The travel time is appr. 45 mins. The hotel is only 15 mins away from the safari. There are good family activities you can do at the safari. Eg, 30 mins to 1 hr ride on an elephant in the jungle, 20 mins hiking to the top of the waterfall, taking pics with tigers, various animals shows (the most thrilling one is the crocodile show), taking a ride on top of a jeep. etc etc. In addition, the hotel was very accommodating and they even allowed us to have a late check-out at 4pm (subject to room availability) due to our late evening departure flight. Staff was polite and most speak basic English.

Hotel accommodations were fantastic. More than I expected. Service from staff was very prompt and courteous. Used the hotel driver and cars for 2 day trips. Excellent service, but a bit pricey. Kids club was fantastic. Staff excellent and very good with children. Only negative- spa was very expensive and not a good value. I used the spa at the neighboring property (Sunset Beach) for half the money and it was fantastic.

not bad, but can be improved in many details

The stay was quite pleasing. However the facilities in the room kept breaking down: the lamps near the sofas in the living room were unable to be turned on for the first night. On the third day, the air-con in the living room was not working. Plus, the wash-basin in the bathroom to the main bedroom was leaking from day one. When we called, the hotel sent their maintenance guy to the room soon enough, but it took them a lot of time to fix the problems.
The hotel is located to the other side of the island, fairly quiet, but not very convenient if you want to shop on the main street.

Magnificent seaview room and beautiful sunset. However, it'll be awesome if the staff pay more attention to their guests. It takes effort to get the staff attention for menu, food ordering, etc. Buggy service can also be improved (higher frequency). We waited 10 mins to get one from the beach to the lobby.

Stunning setting

We loved this hotel and it was everything we hoped it would be after following reviews of it for 6 months. Staff were friendly and always tried very hard to be helpful. The Premier Ocean view room was very spacious and worth the extra cost. The hotel is remote but this is why we chose it, however the hotel does provide free transport to Chaweng daily. We would definitely go back to stay in this hotel.

Overall regarding Taling Naam

You enter the IC Taling Naam resort from the gate in the morning (if your flight is a morning one), and your car drives up the hill. You enter the reception, and then you see the most panoramic beautiful cliff view you would probably ever see. The coconut palm trees, the white sand beach, the lush vegetation.. You do your check-in, and you look forward to get in your room, change and get down to the beach. The you ask the receptionist whether it is safe to swim in the ocean or not. And you get the bad news. It is not possible to swim here. There are too many rocks, corals, that a comfortable level of ocean bathing is almost not possible. Unless you want to submerge yourself in the 30 cm deep of sandy part of water and sit down there for a while... One option is to get in from the platform on the deeper part of the ocean, but depends on your comfort level with the ocean. If you are in for the swimming, sea bathing, better to look for another hotel/destination.
Other than this, you will find out that the service and English level of staff is very challenged here.
Moreover, you will find out that the excursions, transfers that the hotel is selling (with outside providers) are not fairly priced by the hotel. We paid the hotel 2300 baht for an excursion that costs 1500 baht if you buy it in Chaweng city centre (same excursion with same company). the difference does not hurt, but the idea of getting ripped off does not feel good.

Excellent, highly recommended!!!

It was a truly fantastic experience. From our arrival until our departure, the staff took extremely good care of us, and went out of their way to help and make us feel welcome and comfortable.
The hotel itself is not new but has been thoroughly renovated and the standards are very high, even for InterConti ones. There is an uncompromising attention to detail, from the toiletries (amazing quality) to the linen; from the food (I had the best steak ever at Flames restaurant - and I know about steaks, I'm from Argentina!) to the choice of pillow; from the cocktails, to the massages at the spa.
The manager was very hands on, and interacted with guests; listened to suggestions and made himself available if needed.
I also took two comlplimentary classes- yoga and Thai boxing, both thoroughly enjoyable.
We would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back.

While selecting this hotel you will get quite a lot including good service, good food, nice room with a great view, BUT FORGET ABOU THE SANDY BEACH AND BLUE SEA WATER. Beach and sea very dirty you will be not able to swim there, if you want to swim the only option are 2 pools located at the hotel.

excellent hotel in a remote location

We spent 3 nights at the Intercontinental samui in April. The hotel is brand new, rooms are superb. We chose the ocean view suite which happens to be the best room category on the upper level of the villas.

The beach front suites are not worth the price as they have no privacy and can be accessed by guests walking around the pool area.

Food in the hotel is above average.

We had dinner at a near by restaurant called Five Island which was superb. They come to pick you up and offer a drop off from the hotel lobby.

A room away from the main building is recommended.

The hotel lobby by the way has one of the best views overlooking the ocean.

One small problem we faced was the wireless internet which never worked in the villas.

The hotel is 45 minutes from the airport and there is nothing much to do in the area. We stayed at the six senses for another 4 nights and I would recommend the intercontinental over the 6s!! that too for half the price.

Really beautiful location if you'd like a bit of peace of quiet. We were there for our honeymoon so we really enjoyed not being in Chewang. The shuttle's at the hotel very convienient but can get a little expensive. Hired a car, which is much more economical and convenient and thus making the location a non issue.

We had chosen a garden villa for our family vaccation in the second week of September. We booked early through Expedia and benefitted from great rates. The hotel had very thin occupancy and it felt as if we had the place to ourselves. The pool next to our villa was virtually ours and we enjoyed the privacy. The down side of low occupancy was that some services were not available but we did not mind that. Having said that all other services were prompt and efficient. The breakfast was basic and did not change for the entire week we were there. May be the hotel can improve on that. Otherwise it was fantastic and we had a very enjoyable time. Real value for money at the rates we got as the location, quality of rooms and environment is absolutely brilliant. We are regular visitors to Samui and know the island well and got around quite a bit as we had rented a car. Special mention must be made with thanks to Johan at the front office for giving us his personal tips for good eating places on the island. Thanks to him that we had our best Thai meals at Sabienleige (near Rocky's just before Lamai) and Haad Ban Po (just after Four Seasons) Real authentic \"Samui food\" as Johan put it. Unfortunately we could not try the pizza place near Bophut. I guess that's a good enough reason to return!!

Off the beaten track. This is why it is GREAT

This hotel is about 30 minutes from the most crowded location. This is great news. The Villas and rooms are excellent, the view is stunning, the staff is ever so helpful. Our request for late check out was accommodated without any problems.
The restaurant by the beach is great, although nothing can beat the noodles or fried rice in one of the huts along the road.
Surprisingly, I had one of the best martinis in the hotel bar.
Free catamaran and surfing for hotel guests make this place even better. Can not find any fault with anything. would highly recommend for couples on a romantic break.

Blissful Relaxation

The hotel is situated on the top of a hill overlooking the sea. Golf buggies take you down to the beach and back. Choice of two good restaurants. Plenty of space with all the swimming pools doted around the well kept complex. Good food and charming staff. The Infinity pool is not to be missed. Great weather in Feb which alwasy helps. Beautifully quiet and the lack of nightlife suited us down to the ground. Lovely room it is worth getting a sea view as sitting out at night hearing the waves is great.
Good happy hour for drinks and the cocktails are varied and well thought out. Staff are friendly with nothing too much trouble. There is a free internet service whoich is such a change from so many 5 Star hotels. Would recommend this to all and sundry for a great relaxing time. There are many changes about to happen which will only enhance the setting of this superb holiday home. The General Manager has his finger on the pulse and he leads a cohesive and excellent team.

Great value Wonderful setting

We went there not knowing what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Excellent service, lovely villa (got a 2 bedroom instead of one due to low season) overlooking the ocean and sunsets. Staff was very helpful for all baby needs- sterilizing equipment, car seat, baby cot, high chair, toys for swimming pool. Resort setting is fantastic. Having 7 pools makes a huge difference since you can choose how often you can chill out by the pool, how many people you want to encounter. Spa massage was average but the massage room is beautifully located to overlook the ocean- is attached to a romantic outdoor bath/ jacuzzi area. Breakfast had great variety and meals were excellent. Staff helped us out by entertaining the baby so that we could finish our meals in peace.

Hotel is in a nice spot but needs renovation! we had a villa on the beach which was nice but way too expensive for the quality. Staff nice but often inexperienced. Only two restaurants, food was not impressive compared to Bkk/Hua Hin 5star restaurants. New years eve party overpriced and hardly any firework. Better choose Chaweng hotels!

クラブルームに家族で宿泊。全体的には満足するものの、いくつか改善点あり。

1.ミニバーのソフトドリンク無料で1日1回補充が適切にされない。

2.クラブラウンジのアフタヌーンティーの内容が質素。

3.カクテルタイムのスタート時間が20:30からは遅すぎる。また、食事のメニューが貧相、ワインも美味しくない。

以上を鑑みると、当ホテルでは相当割高なクラブルームを選択するメリットは少ないかもしれません。

Meillä oli club-sviitti, johon kuului loungen tarjoilut, järjettömän mahtavaa! Kaksi vaihtoehtoa aamupalan syöntiin, tee-kahvihetki, jossa tarjoiltiin suolaista ja makeaa, smoothiet, tuoreet puristetut mehut... sekä drinkkihetki, jossa coctaileja, viiniä, suolaista ja loungen notkuva pöytä... syötiin vain kerran hotellin ravintolassa, sillä hintaan kuuluvat tarjoilut olivat runsaat. Ravintola olikin sitten ihan Suomen hinnoissa. Kolmella omatoimiretkellä syötiin todella edullisesti muualla. Club-sviittiin kuului myös aktiviteetteja esim. joogaa aamulla ja käsihoidot. Bakit kuljetti ympäri resorttia, jos ei aina jaksanut rinteen portaita, kuului palveluun. Tyttäreni täytti 15v. - huoneeseen tuli suklaakakku kynttilöineen ja sängylle koristelut toivotuksineen. Joka päivä täyttyi minibaarin vedet ja virvoitusjuomat uudelleen ja siivous oli uskomatonta. Meidän vegaani ja kasvissyöjä otettiin joka paikassa huomioon. Pyyhkeitä ja juomista tuotiin joka altaalla ja rannassa. Oli ihan kuninkaallinen olo ja ympäristö paratiisia. Ihanaa hlökuntaa, jotka ottivat selville vastaukset vaikeisiinkin kysymyksiin!
