We had an excellent stay at the Spilman Hotel. The room was clean and spacious with high quality fixtures and fittings. The receptionist Michelle was friendly and welcoming and the location was great. We won't be the first to mention the challenging entryway to the car park - but the video supplied by the hotel was helpful in this regard. Carmarthen was an interesting place to visit.

We stayed in the Executive Double which was huge. Tea and coffee making facilities in the main area and shampoo, body wash and towels provided in the large bathroom. The breakfasts were the best we have had in a long time.
The only drawback was the very narrow passageway into the car park, but we mastered it after a few attempts.

Cannot fault this hotel. I've stayed here multiple times for work and would never stay elsewhere. A great price for really generous sized clean rooms with a fridge, smart TV, good tea and coffee selection and a great breakfast with friendly and welcoming staff.

This is my second visit to The Spillman. My first visit was excellent as I was given a room in the main building. However this time we were given a room in an annex. Whilst it appeared clean there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and there was a musty smell in the room.
Also just to make others aware the carpark has a very tight opening and because of the bollards on the pavement adjacent to the opening its very difficult to negotiate with a SuV and larger.
Apart from that the staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was delicious.

We stayed for one night whilst travelling through. The staff we met were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was fresh, tasteful, well equipped and very clean. We had a full cooked breakfast which was perfectly cooked and the service was faultless. We would definitely stay again and have no hesitation in recommending The Spilman Hotel.
We marked down comfort slightly from Excellent to Good because we had a very hot night (August) the fan in room was very welcome but not sure if our mattress was memory foam or not but,although comfortable, we did find it hot to sleep on. Just our personal preference.

Booked this hotel as the rest of our large group were staying at The Ivy Bush Hotel opposite, where they had been recommended.
We were not disappointed, the hotel was beautifully decorated and everywhere spotlessly clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was included and was scrummy.

Large spacious room. Fan, hair dryer, iron, kettle and a fridge in the room. The beds were comfortable and lovely bedding. Big open shower with shower gel, shampoo and hand wash supplied. Breakfast is cooked to order plus all the usual fruit, cereal, pastries. The car park is a tight squeeze to get in, plenty of spaces. Great location in the centre of the town. Although we barely heard any noise from in our room. It was a lovely stay, we will definitely be back for our next stay in Carmarthen.

Close to my appointment the following morning and right in the middle of Carmarthen.
Make sure sure you call before getting to the car park, it is tight access to get in but ample parking nearby, great choice of food places also.

This is my 3rd stay at the Spilman Hotel, I had the pleasure of being upgraded to the penthouse apartment this time which gave me 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and living room. All very clean and comfortable. The added bonus is the breakfast which is always amazing.

Hotel should advise that entrance to carpark is only suitale for small cars - tried to get my car in and was too wide - this isnt a large 4x4 either - wasnt willing to park some distance away so did not complete my stay - ruined holiday all for a piece of useful information

This hotel was a real find. A lovely stay and was a real lovely place to come back to at the end of a busy day out. The rooms were very well appointed modern, clean with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. If I had to be really picky I would have liked a wider range of food available for breakfast as in a selection of bread not just brown or white sliced, and freshly prepared fresh fruit. Alternatives for people who do not appreciate English Breakfast at that early time in the morning. But overall an excellent stay.

The hotel was built in 1840, so it's full of character rather than looking and feeling like a clone of so many other modern hotels. We had two rooms opposite each other; both very large, and clearly modernised and updated very recently: for instance, the double socket next to my bed had USB charging points as well as the standard 13-amp plug sockets. The beds were either king- or queen-sized (I can never remember which is which) and very comfortable. Each room had two armchairs and an occasional table, plus a large desk, a cupboard with drawers, and a fridge (a proper fridge, not a mini-bar). The bathrooms were large and well appointed, and sparkling clean.
The breakfast (included in the price) was excellent; there was a choice, but we had the full English, all quite delicious, and cooked to order. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
There was only one drawback (explained on the website: the car park (which is free to hotel residents) is accessed through a narrow gateway, originally designed to accommodate horses and small carriages, but quite tricky for wide cars. Ours (a Vauxhall Mokka) was fine, but the car ahead of us, considerably wider, struggled, having to reverse out and try again. (It did succeed the second time!)
Overall, we hadn't expected much - it was only an overnight stay on the way to Pembroke Docks ferry to Ireland - but were agreeably surprised at the comfort and amenities of the Spilman Hotel.

I had a great one night stay, I was welcomed to my room parking sorted out in a secure car park and given advice on the best places to eat. The room was great, modern nice shower/bath everything spotless. I had a great night sleep on a comfortable bed. I don't eat breakfast so I couldn't say personally but it looked and smelt great. I will use this hotel again without any hesitation.

Last minute booking on a Sunday night. Room was clean and quiet. I suspect the traffic at front of hotel might be more of an issue on a week day but double glazing helps a lot. Friendly, helpful and informative check-in. Parked outside in an out-of-hors parking bay, but the parking behind the hotel looked nowhere near as difficult to access as some have mentioned - just take care. My room was tastefully decorated, comfortable and warm on a chilly Summer's evening. Good choice of hot drinks. Complimentary bottled water. Everything worked. I left very early to take part in a sporting event, so I missed breakfast.
