Bed....no Breakfast

The property was very clean, as was the room. The bed was comfortable. It was very quiet. As far as bed-and-breakfasts go, the amenities and accommodations were rather basic and underwhelming. Having stayed at many bed and breakfast, this one lacked the panache one comes to expect. Still, it was accommodating.

My issue is that there was a bed, but no breakfast. One half of the equation was missing. Instead of a breakfast, there were pre-packaged items like Pop-Tarts and raisins, the type of Continental breakfast provided at cheap motels. The reason given for no breakfast being made available was the current pandemic. While I'm understanding of the pandemic, I have recently stayed at other bed and breakfasts in the area, dined at restaurants and had no problem being served the obligatory breakfast. It's fine if one chooses not to serve a breakfast during this current state, but they should be obligated to tell you in advance of booking or staying, as the premium you pay for your room per night is predicated on being served exquisite breakfast. We paid full price but only received half the bargain.

It was absolutely wonderful. Right when you walk in they show you around, offer snacks and water, and tell you to feel at home. We stayed in Gracie’s garden room and it was so clean and cozy. We will definitely be returning. It’s a great place for a weekend get away being RIGHT next to downtown wis dells.

What a wonderful place for a couple or small family. Conveniently placed to be anywhere in the Wi Dells in less than 15 minutes. Recommending to all my friends and family, and people we don't know. We will be back to this place again in the future.

We found heaven in Wisconsin!

Well for starters this was our first time trying a Bed &
Breakfast and it was absolutely amazing. The hospitality made us feel like we were at home and with family. Our host Shane was an absolute buttercup of a sweetheart. From the second we arrived he naturally treated us with so much hospitality and with the utmost concern for our comfort. He checked with our schedule to make sure the bonfire was lit when we arrived back home. (did I just call it home lol) Snacks and beverages were always stocked. The beds and rooms were so comfy. There were so many little things I didn't mention but he was always accommodating our stay. He greeted us with a handshake and we left giving hugs. Definitely our go to spot when visiting the Dells or just to get away. Thanks again Shane for everything!

Quiet, clean and very accommodating. We stayed an extra night. I slept so well on the bed. The shower can be a little tricky as you have to straddle the whirlpool tub to get in. Otherwise a perfect getaway and close to Dells activities and restaurants.

Excellent breakfast, uncomfortable bed

The breakfast was delicious. The proprietors were helpful. The bed was very uncomfortable. The B&B was very convenient to town, but next to a strip club and across from a sports complex. Neither the strip club nor the sports complex actively bothered me, but neither made for pretty scenery.

Amazing stay, close to downtown!

We had a fantastic stay at bowman?s Oak hill. The room was very nice and the location great for getting around the dells. Our favorite part was the breakfast it was delicious and homemade! The couple that run the B and B are very accommodating and friendly making the experience very enjoyable. You won?t regret going here instead of a hotel!

The renovated travel trailer was the perfect introduction for us into the possibilities of future RV life. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom usable, and the overall atmosphere cozy. If it weren't so cool during our stay, we would have loved to use the two outdoor bathtubs!

Fantastic Stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Bowman's. Russ and Laurie are so kind and accommodating. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic! You will not find a better one anywhere in the area. We also loved the peace and quiet, especially throughout the night and early mornings. Our room was great. The beds are really nice and comfortable. Russ and Laurie suggested great activities and places to see and eat. They even packed us a breakfast when we had to leave at 5:30 am on the final day (thanks for the pumpkin muffins...we ate them all on the long flight!). We will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area. Thanks so much!

Lovely cottage, wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed in a gorgeous cottage but due to time restrictions we were only able to stay for 1 night, which was a shame as we would have liked to have stayed longer. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and prepared us a lovely breakfast before our flight home. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others who don't want to stay right in town but just minutes outside. We also loved watching the array of birds that flew in and out of the garden to the feeders.

We visited last month for our Wedding Anniversary. The owner's are so friendly and attentive. The breakfast's are amazing! I'm gluten free and have not had French Toast in years, until this visit, they made gluten free and it was the same as my husbands, not something else, or different and it was sooo good! We stayed in one of the cottage's and it was so cozy and clean! They even stopped over to wish us Happy Anniversary and gave us a perfect red rose & vase. We loved it and would go back again and again!

Very Nice

I stayed here for one night while attending a conference at the Kalahari. I did not want to stay at the Kalahari with all the noise. I had Elmer's room. It was immaculate as far as cleanliness and I am a clean freak. The bathroom looked a little outdated (old pinkish tiles, etc) but the shower was amazing. Great pressure, multiple nozzles. Had homemade cookies every day! I could not attend breakfast because of having to get up early to get to my conference, but they got up with me anyways and prepared a breakfast just for me. It was great and I would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Anniversary Get-away

We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary at Bowman's Oak Hill B&B and had a wonderful stay. David and Nancy are such gracious hosts. We stayed in the beautifully appointed Garden Cottage. Firm mattress, luxury linens, and organic bath products. Nancy makes the best breakfasts and the portions were large enough to satisfy the heartiest of appetites. If pancakes are on the menu, try the lemon sauce. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back!

When you stay here, they treat you like family!

On arrival, Nancy and David greeted us with open arms and big smiles. David explained every single small detail of the Dells and pointed out all of the best restaurants. They even told us about the places with free parking, that saved us quite a bit of money! They even were gracious enough to give us discounts for some of the activities we would be doing during that weekend. They let us know shortcuts and tricks and tips on how to travel around the Dells and it made us feel right at home.

The room was very clean, the AC unit was modern and kept us cool throughout the hot summer nights. Each day we went out, the room would be cleaned, bed would be made and everything got straightened and tidy. It was very refreshing to come back to a clean room after a long day of walking around down-town. The Jacuzzi tub was a HUGE plus of the room, that was the most relaxing thing to come back to.

I read that the breakfast that Nancy prepares was quite good, but I was not expecting it to taste as good as it did. The dishes were so fantastic with huge servings and delicious sides. Every morning I was looking forward to what Nancy had been preparing. I can see why she has won so many awards for her cooking, it was like no other bed and breakfast I'd ever stayed in. Breakfast time was refreshing, meeting a new couple or family every morning and sharing stories over a meal. It felt very much like family there, it was a very nice experience.

At the end of our stay, it was very hard to say goodbye, we had such a great time. I am sad to see they are thinking about selling the place, it is beautiful and they do a good job at keeping it looking fantastic. But I don't think that was the last time I'd be staying with the Bowman's, they made our trip to the Dells all the better.

Anniversary get-away

Our stay was wonderful. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we felt welcome and valued as customers and friends. David was knowledgeable about all the Dells has to offer. Nancy's meals were exquisite. The grounds were well-kept and beautiful. We stayed in the Argosy for two nights. We had everything we needed to make a yummy dinner-in one night, and we enjoyed soaking in the antique claw-foot tubs. We definitely felt that we were on vacation, and we will be sure to stay at Bowman's Oak Hill Bed and Breakfast again!

Best getaway I've ever experienced

?After the stress of work all week, all I was looking for was someplace to get away and relax. The Bowman's tgraciously accepted Rochelle and me into their bed and breakfast and we had a wonderful experience from check in to the homemade breakfast each morning, the coffee on the front porch, the deck out back overlooking some beautiful woods, the extremely comfortable bed and pillows, and the fellow guests sharing breakfast, it was worth it and we plan on returning in the future...?

I made reservations at Bowman's for my wife's birthday two months in advance. On the reservation I stated I had a gluten allergy. The owners confirmed this and thanked me for letting them know. On the second day, Nancy prepared a breakfast dish that contained oats (which are not all gluten free). I ended up eating gluten free granola with milk and fruit. There are numerous gluten free options for breakfast and they chose not to make any of these. Also, they knew we were celebrating my wife's birthday and there was no acknowledgement of this. On the bright side, the cabin we stayed in was clean, comfortable, and very nice. David was very nice and engaging, but Nancy did not seem as engaging. She seemed in a rush to get the dishes off the table so guests would leave. Would not stay here again.

A true, quality find from off the Internet

We have just returned from a three night stay at Oak Hill! The two of us enjoyed the accommodations - which is a understatement. First, this is not the typical B & B one fines....may of us think of a large Victorian mansion with lots of steps and small rooms. This is my first ever B & B...and it was outstanding. Stayed in one of the out cabins, king size bed, small kitchen, cable tv, etc....great interior, lots of wood. Nice deck/porch to sit on, parking no problem, and very quiet....no kids running crazy around the yard or hallway - if they had one.

No real steps, no waiting on a elevator.....breakfast at 9 AM every morning which was most excellent! Breakfast taken in the main house....can't beat the service that is provided, and the company that is kept. A very quality stay!

Without a doubt, a return visit to this B & B goes without question. Just will have to make the reservation further in advance as it's most popular.

2 lovely nights in the Airstream Argosy

I surprised my husband with a birthday getaway to the WI Dells and I wanted a different style of accommodation and was happy to find this B&B had a renovated Airstream Argosy. Besides the cool, vintage Airstream (which is wonderful), they have built a private deck around the vehicle and there are 2 outdoor claw foot tubs in a cabana where you can relax. My husband loved the surprise and it was fun staying in the Airstream. Nice that it had air conditioning because there were some hot summer nights in July.

Breakfast in the main house was delicious and our fellow guests were very nice to chat with. This place is a short 5 minute drive to the Dells so you get the quiet of the outdoors with the convenience of being close to the Dells. Thanks for a great stay!

My husband and I had a very nice weekend at the Bowman's Oak Hill B&B. our room was just right and comfortable seating as well as a comfortable bed. The breakfasts were excellent... For the same price as a hotel room, we had great breakfasts and a nice shaded deck to enjoy some time outside. We will definite stay there again if we are in the area.

First Time's a Charm

Stayed in Gracie's Garden Room in the Main House with my husband for a babymoon. It was our first time staying at a B&B so we didn't know exactly what to expect other than from all of the other positive reviews for this place, that it was going to be great. It was. Nancy greeted us on our arrival -- so pleasant and friendly. The room was very clean and spacious enough for a few nights' stay. Whirlpool was relaxing and the bed was comfy! We enjoyed playing cards in the sun room after returning at night. Just wish the time didn't go so quickly while we were there. Would have loved to explore the property a little more.

The Bowmans are wonderful.

A hidden gem

We stayed in the garden cottage. A warm, relaxing, quiet get away hidden on the edge of town. David and Nancy were very friendly and helpful with our stay. Even though our schedule did not allow us to try any of the breakfasts, we were surprised and delighted with the treats they left for us. They both went out of their way to make us feel comfortable during our stay. Definately booking again for next year!!!

Airstream stay at Bowman's Oak Hill B&B

Nancy and David were really fabulous hosts, doing everything to make our stay lovely, comfortable and fun, including leaving an anniversary card for us.

The breakfasts were delicious and the company was interesting. Bowman's Oak Hill feels like it's out in the country but is 5 to 10 minutes from the main strip in the Dells.

We chose the Airstream as our cabin, which was fun -- including a bath in the side by side claw foot tubs in luxury tent on the deck surrounding the Airstream.

Arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend. We can't remember spending three such completely relaxing days and nights where we were fed gourmet breakfasts from the expert hands of Nancy and reveling in the beautiful grounds. David, our co-host, tells good stories and serves a wonderful cup of coffee. We stayed in the main house and shared the quiet and beautiful home with the other guests. This is the fun of a bed and breakfast: we meet other travelers seeking the same comfort as we do and become friends before the second cup of coffee is served. Nancy and Dave live downstairs and are never in the way but are never very far away. The furnishings were in keeping with the home and some were simply elegant. There isn't anything to dislike about this well run B&B, from the kind and considerate owners to the furnishings to the beautiful woods to the elegant breakfasts.

Our Stay Was PERFECT!

This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast, and WOW David & Nancy really set the bar high! We were blown away by the service, the AMAZING cabin we stayed in, the DELICIOUS food, and most of all, the great company and conversations with them in the morning! We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate our first anniversary! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Perfect Getaway

We stayed here in the Garden Cottage back in the summer of 2011 while my husband was on R&R. It was the perfect little weekend getaway to relax and enjoy our time together! The cottage was cozy and cute and breakfast in the morning was delicious! Nancy and David Bowman are friendly, wonderful hosts and they make you feel like you're right at home! Now that we finally moved back to WI we are already making plans to come back this summer for another weekend away!

Wonderful!

My husband and I spent two nights in the Bowman's Garden Cottage. We were celebrating our first anniversary and it was perfect. We didn't want to leave! David and Nancy are the ultimate in hosting and are welcoming and friendly. The attention to detail in our cottage was the best we've ever seen. Breakfast was phenominal both mornings. It was interesting to meet and spend time with the other couples. We can't wait to return!!

ABOSLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!

Nancy and David go Above and Beyond for their guests. The grounds are breathtaking, the rooms are sublime, the breakfasts are To Die For, and when there are other guests, they make everyone feel so comfortable that meal turns into a joyful party. With their knowledge of the area, they make excellent suggestions on places to eat, entertainment, and sights not to miss. And after an eventful and sometimes tiring day, in the dells, what a pleasure to return to this quiet secluded oasis of peace and tranquility.

Perfect for our 10 yr anniversary

Bowman's Oak Hill Bed and Breakfast was a fantastic experience all around. The location is perfect. It feels like you are away from everything, but only minutes away from main attractions. Nancy's breakfast is literally award winning. Enough can't be said about how this was such a great part of our anniversary weekend. Highly recommend to everyone.

Best B&B we've ever stayed at.

What we experienced during our stay was exactly as their website advertised. Our cottage was wonderfully comfortable and well situated on the property for privacy. The bed was VERY comfortable (slept all week as well there as in our own bed). The leather couch was also very comfortable. The breakfasts were fabulously delicious every day! David and Nancy were very nice, but not intrusive and well informed about the area attractions and eateries. The Cottage, main house (dining area) and grounds were all very well maintained and beautifully decorated. We would highly recommend choosing this B&B. We have stayed at a lot of B&B all over the Midwest and this one has been the best by far then all of the others.

Best place for Couples in the Dells

We weren't traveling with children so we wanted a quiet place to stay. We had Aunt Geri's cabin and it was perfect. The breakfasts were amazing. We will definitely return.

Amazing!

This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and we couldn't be any happier! David and Nancy were very helpful and made us feel very welcomed. The Bowman Garden Cottage was absolutely beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were like silk. The cottage was tucked away in the back of the property, surrounded by trees; which made it extremely peaceful. We loved it and will be sending all our family and friends!!

Lovely B&B

We travelled with our kids and stayed in one of the cabins and in the airstreamer.

It was only for one night, but a great stay and we would have extended if there had been openings.

Great for going into Wisconsin dells and day trips to Madison.

NB We didn't have dinner, but I had to score it to make my review :-/

Wonderful Weekend!

We brought two other couples to the Dells to stay at Bowman's and enjoy the area's golf courses. We all had a lovely time and those who came for the first time couldn't stop marveling at the accommodations, meals and hosts. Oak Hill Bed and Breakfast Is Top-Notch

I highly recommend Bowman's Oak Hill Bed & Breakfast to anyone who wants to have a wonderful and restful stay while visiting in the Wisconsin Dells area. Dave and Nancy make you feel welcomed and at-home. I especially recommend booking one of the two cottages on the property. The traveler has their own little space away from the main building and the sense of privacy is something to treasure. Great hosts and a great property!
