We were staying overnight before a cruise coach pick up. I didn't realize how early we would be picked up as we had booked breakfast. The staff kindly ensured we could get some take out cold breakfast and hot drinks as we were leaving before the breakfast opened. This was really helpful to us. It was so convenient to be able to leave the car there for a supplement.

Staff make this hotel especially the reception team and dining staff on the evening shift.
Got a complimentary upgrade, which is always welcome, dining at the evening food was cooked fresh, hot, helpful staff no complaints. Hotel rooms were very comfy, bright on the riverside of the hotel, lovely toiletries.
Will return on the back of how welcoming the staff were.

Breakfast was good selection, but no mugs. Asked once and they had already been taken by other guests before we could get one.
Cold drinks were very disappointing.
Kids pool was great with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna - amazing bonus.
Evening food was fab. Kids eat free, this should be advertised more.
Room was what it was described as and clean, tidy and comfortable. Would be nice if kids bedroom area was in a seperate area.

This was my second time staying here. And I have to say the first time (September '25) was great and I felt that I had found a good hotel that I can use regularly when I come visit my daughter in University.
First time around 5 stars, staff food excellent
This time around the staff were just down right rude and didn't care, one evening I had to get my key fob reset and it took almost 20 for this very rude gentleman to come from out the back to reset my card.
The chef also has changed because the food we got and my steak was some of the worst ever and the fries I had with the steak were still uncooked inside not to mention that it also took an absolute age to get served, and in fact it took that long I had to go to the cashier at the till to give him my order.
Also please people dont waste your time getting the meal included with your room its a waste of money, you have a separate food menu and theres nothing on it worth eating so as I done i just paid for the main menu meal.

All things considered and I stay in hotels quite a lot I was glad to get checked out only to get home and receive 5 yes 5 parking tickets now they each came at separate times so when I got the fifth one I didn't care anymore I just felt you can have my money.... (the other 4 I sent to the hotel and they squashed them).

But all that aside, the rooms were very nice and the hotel was quite modern too and the breakfast I would give it 2 stars.

We stayed here just as a stop over and it was a very small and low double bed in a huge room. It wasnt the cleanest so I was glad I had slippers with me. Shower ceiling was too low for a 6'2 person so my partner had to crouch. The main parts of the hotel looked nice on arrival, but we didnt make use of it. Nice and quiet despite the location.

Amazing hotel with great spa facilities, friendly and attentive staff. The room was spacious enough for two adults and two children plus one dog. We ate an evening meal in the restaurant as we were on a dinner but in breakfast wait the staff again were great with brilliant gluten-free options on the menu.

1st time we were disappointed with a stay at HI. Room only had 1 mug and towel on arrival, stingy with the milks (only 4 so = 2 cups tea only) Our stay was over Christmas, it was frosty outside but room heating not working. Reception gave us plug-in heater.
Day 2 no teabags given, dirty mugs not changed and empty bin left in middle of floor with no liner - had to ask reception.
No towels in gym/pool entire stay - had to use from room but nowhere to dry them so damp for later on. Pool. changing area not cleaned - kitkat wrapper by jacuzzi for days, bottle tops in corner of showers not removed whole stay.

Breakfast room clutttered - coffee m/c in narrowest area, no water boiler and hot water from coffee m/c tastes funny for tea, plus milk no where near the tea-point. Cereals by hot-dring area, but no nearby milk.
No cloths on handles of hot dish-lids, lovely hot plates, but no napkins to allow you to hold them; cold meats not topped up and selection offered reduced as stay progressed. Tables too close together so one couple being 'nudged' as people squeezed past.

Music in reception early mornings way too loud, same during breakfast and evenings.

The football table meant eating breakfast with loud clacking of the game throughout, and kids screaming as they scored.

The hotel has good potential and is in a good location, but seems to be lacking in leadership and supervision of what should be 'routine' tasks for housekeeping.

Had an awful stay. The air in the room was suffocating and it seems the aircon from the vents had a cigarette smoke smell that was causing discomfort.
The bathtub had stuff coming out of the hole which makes you feel sick.

Clean and nicely decorated room. Unexpected mini fridge with nice goodies in it - drinks, kitkats, crips, biscuits. Massive and comfy bed. Great shower. Breakfast was good & plentiful. Only think that lets this hotel down is the poor state of repair in leisure facilities- noisy plant, grubby looking, pool lining ridged, changing facilities a little dirty and needing work. Money needs spent on an overhaul to this area of the hotel. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay.

The property is old, the first room we were given stinked so we had to change. The second one was better but the pillows dirty. The hotel is along a busy road, half of the rooms are therefore very noisy. That said, the staff is lovely and hard working and the restaurant and bar are absolutely fine.

Clean hotel. Pool was great, unfortunately we called the day we booked to enquire about using the pool, we were told by bookings that yes it was open. Arrived a few hrs later to find it closed until the next day. So check before if you are using the pool. Reception staff where fantastic and allowed a slightly later checkout (happy kids!)

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is great, very quiet and peaceful, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The kitchen staff, in particular, were outstanding—very helpful and kind.

However, there are some areas for improvement. The staff could be better prepared when assisting foreign guests, and the breakfast could use more variety and quality. The swimming pool was clean and looked nice, but the chemicals in the water were too strong and caused eye irritation.

I like this hotel and will use it again. However i was disappointed that a sofa bed was left made up in my room when i am a solo traveller. It meant i did not have a sofa to sit on. In addition the sauna was out of use. This hotel is not a cheap option but i expect better when you are paying a pre.ier rate.

There was a shortage of towels and toilet rolls throughout the hotel. The pool changing rooms were soaking wet and dirty and very tired looking with plaster coming off the walls and no body wash in any of the showers.

The short break was booked so I could spend time with my Grandchildren. The kids loved there stay and swam twice a day, the kids ate free with a paying adult which saved a lot of money. Food was great and the kids really enjoyed the amount of different choices to choose from.
Staff were polite friendly and very helpful! Our domestic help made us feel very comfortable and didn’t complain when we returned to our room before she had finished her jobs ! Helped me with the A/C and the bathroom shower which was really appreciated as I didn’t know how to work them.
Definitely would stay again.

Good Family Hotel

Spacious, comfy bedroom for our family of 4. We all enjoyed the swimming pool facilities, as well as the TNT football, which the staff kindly put on for me to watch Palace's famous Community Shield victory over Liverpool, while being served a number of perfectly chilled draught Stellas from the bar. The breakfast was also reasonably priced (children up to 14 eat free) and very tasty. Thank you for a memorable stay!

I decided to stay somewhere extra special with a pool for my girls on the way back home. We had a smooth check in then enjoyed a peaceful relaxing swim in the pool sadly the jacuzzi was broken but the pool was clean and great fun!
We enjoyed a delicious dinner and my daughter enjoyed the children’s play area afterwards. The rooms were spacious and the staff quickly brought me up a travel cot without any problems. We enjoyed a comfortable sleep , a delicious breakfast and a morning swim before our journey back home to Scotland. I will definitely plan to stay here again on my next journey down south. Thank you.

Everything in our room worked OK, but the quality level was not as I remember Holiday Inn: used to be a frequent customer before retirement.
The stand-out feature for me was the excellent service we got from the hotel staff, in particular the restaurant staff. Far better than most hotels.

Chosen because of closeness to M6 motorway and convenience. Expensive food/drinks. Souless dining area. No lounge. Some aspects of the rooms looking tired and dated for a supposed 4 star hotel. Sadly it is not. Staff seemed disinterested in some cases and better training/knowledge/experience required. Incorrect meal time information given on front desk to several customers. For August the radiator did not need to be on full in our room. Little or no dress code. Definitely needed for some staff.

Waited around for ages for this to be done .
I booked thru Expedia and had to wait 45 mins at reception for the Expedia confirmation to come thru to the hotel before we could check in
That needs to be speeded up in my opinion
