The best things about this hotel are an outstanding location, a 24-hour diner in the building, and a friendly staff. However, physically, it has seen better days. The rooms are worn out to the point of feeling dirty. Also, while the bed was comfortable, there was no blanket or quilt. Just multiple sheets.

The Staff was very friendly. We did not have a fridge in our room and asked front desk if they could keep an item we bought cold overnight until we left the next day. They told us they could bring a fridge to our room and within 30 minutes or less we had the fridge. Hotel was very clean and security was available to ensure all guest were safe. Loved the view from our room!

Hotel is under construction. Lot of banging in the morning. Also killed a roach in the bathroom may just be a NYC thing cause the room was pretty clean. Exchange some words with a employee, spoke with management who said he would address the issue

Hotel is clean but could use some updating. The gym is very nice - lots of good equipment and all in good working order! Our only real complaint is that they charge $5 per bag to check luggage if you need to do so for a while before leaving.

Top notch staff here through and through! We arrived early and just wanted to store our luggage. The front desk agent was super helpful and was able to get us in to our room early instead! That was a big relief for us. The room was nice and comfortable and we had a great view. Our dinner at Butcher and Banker was also phenomenal and the staff there were great. Will definitely stay again!

Please be aware that leaving your bags at the cloak costs you $5 per bag & no cash!!! This is a historical establishment & there are so many old charms all over the hotel. If you are into history, check out Lower Lobby before the gym. They have so many pictures from the past. It was fun. Some rooms are getting renovated & I “upgraded” to a newly renovated room. I didn’t request, but I got “city view” room & I could see Staples from the window. Also it was very noisy. I used earplugs every night. Great location right next to Penn station.

My family and I stay at the New Yorker each March for the big east tournament. It’s incredibly convenient and with the onsite amenities of having two house in restaurant and a on site Starbucks, I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.

Im not the one to leave reviews unless I absolutely think it would help other guests. The condition of the room was deplorable. The bathroom was 2x2 and no space to even accommodate a toothbrush and I am not exaggerating. The carpet looked dirty and smelled old. Staff was friendly, good location but i would not go back to this hotel. I recommend you look around for other properties that are renovated or more modern. I hope this helps.

We came during Thanksgiving, and the staff were completely overwhelmed. Long waits to talk to anyone, and when you did reach them the staff was understandably tired and surly. The location is ideal, but perhaps try them when it’s not so busy.

I think hotels need to upgrade there photos online because majority New York hotels are outdated when you physically go to them… with outrageous room rates. I heard the person in the next room take a shower every night because the appliances was old and rusty.

We stayed during Christmas time. It is a great location if you're looking to be central to most things in the city. This time of year is highly chaotic anywhere you go in NYC.
The staff was more than helpful and understanding when we were delayed with our check-in because of flight cancellations. It was the perfect room for my daughter and I.

When we finally got the keys to our room, it turned out the room was already occupied so we had to go back to the lobby and get a new room. We were in a rush to get to a dinner event so this turned out to be a real inconvenience.
Never happened here before, so just hoping it’s a one off as we stay here somewhat often.

Rooms clean and amenities in room ideal. Shops around the hotel perfect for things for room and tick tock diner brilliant. I would say the the payable locally fees/tax is absolutely ridiculous. £140 per room for 4 nights really just for wifi us as we didn't need the phone calls part.

This hotel is located at an excellent location, the staff was extremely friendly and it was clean. However, I can’t give it a high rating because the room condition was poor. It was a very old room and bathroom and some of the bathroom fixtures and door knobs were falling apart. The beds are also very small. The hotel has potential but desperately need a renovation.

The windows could use some dusting & more than likely you won’t have a view out the window but for the price and location you can’t beat it ! Absolute ideal location if you’re looking to go to MSG or anything in that surrounding area. The rooms are as nearly as nice as what’s shown online but clean and the HVAC works very well. Small toilets! Water pressure heat for shower looks great though. If you’re not looking at spending much time in the rooms, it’s a very good choice for the price.

This hotel is in a very convenient location with Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, Amtrak, CVS, Starbucks and parking options located within immediate walking distance. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. It is an older building however it is well cared for. My room was clean and had a view of the Empire State Building.

The New Yorker is perfectly located, especially for those of us who travel by train. The hotel has been renovated, but retains a lot of the original Art Deco decor. The room rates are reasonable for the location and comfort level of the property. The room was quite spacious, as I was offered a very attractive upgrade. The bed was comfortable; blackout shades were helpful. The bathroom was adequate, though a walk-in shower upgrade would have been appreciated over the old cast iron bathtub. Housekeeping was exceptional.

The property is very convenient. It's close to all the big things that you would want to see. There is a McDonald's and a Taco Bell right across the street which is nice. The room is very small and there's no fridge. The bathroom is also very small. Everything worked okay and the room was comfy. The view was excellent!

Stayed here during a convention for wellness + beauty I had to attend at the Javits Center which was close and a few blocks from the hotel and also close to the Penn Station. Hotel had a nice vibe, staff were nice and accommodating but it does feel a little outdated. The room we got was small, showerhead was super strong, furniture was outdated, but overall the view was beautiful. It wasn’t terrible but also not a five star hotel so keep that in mind. I might stay here again just because it’s close to everything I need to get to.

tons of shops, about 10 min walk to Times Square. the vending machines don’t give water though as advertised, it kept producing brisk tea. bathrooms weren’t super clean. also the men in the lobbies kept asking for a room key but we noticed other guests of different races got to walk through no issues

We had an stress-free stay at The New Yorker during a non-rush period. The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the city near Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, and a short walk to Times Square. It is an ideal spot for walking to major attractions or catching a subway anywhere in the city.

Our room was consistently cleaned on a daily basis, and the housekeeping staff did a good job. The reception desk staff were friendly, professional, and attentive to any concerns we had. However, be aware that the hotel is \"old school\" and you have to pay for basic amenities, including a fee to store bags after checkout. Despite this, the convenience and safety, especially with security at the elevators, make it a great option.
