Hotel staff were very friendly, the room was very clean, and incredibly loud. It’s an old building, which meant you could hear the guests above you (rudely at 1am…) added to the street noise (which was unbelievable even with earphones) and the AC which wasn’t efficient, it made sleeping next to impossible. Great location, but won’t be coming back.

As a single traveler, this place felt unsafe. I was given a room on the ground level. Even after addressing the fact that my room smelled and the AC was not working properly, I was given an option of moving over to the next room (which was also ground level). The hotel was completely empty, and yet they cannot upgrade my room for any reason.

The M is a true beach motel. It is on the inland side of Pacific Coast Hwy - with a number of restaurants within walking distance about a mile each way). The bathroom was clean and the room was comfortable.

Our room smelled like Ben Gay. When we complained we were told that the cleaning staff had left for the day. When I asked for fresh sheets in hopes that it would help with the smell I was told that the cleaning staff had left for the day and could only be offered fresh pillow cases. The room was very dark with insufficient lighting. The bed was atrociously uncomfortable. You would think that with all of the Ben Gay in the room I wouldn’t have woken up with a stiff back. Nevertheless I did. I get it- location, location, location. I was there for a wedding. Next time I’ll commute to the event. Never again!

Staff is friendly, after checking in we went straight to our room and settled in, lied on the bed to relax for a little bit after a long drive, suddenly my wife yelled and saw a big spider crawling on her head it was on the pillow! Not a good first impression of the cleanliness of the property, the road noise is a major turn off, really hard to sleep at night even if they’re providing ear plugs for the guests to wear…

Noisy and no administrative help. The office staff comes in when they essentially need or want to. I had to wait the entire morning to pay them before I could enjoy my day. Sign on the office door posted a time staff would arrive and it was off by several hours. When calling the number they responded they could only text. Highway close is very noisy even with the hotel provided earplugs. Nice enough place but shady business practices and definitely not the place to stay to sleep.

The room was fine, fairly quiet and clean. It is a bit challenging for people with mobility issues: our room was on the top floor and there's no elevator, so we had to park near the stairs. It's also tricky to get in and out by car, since it's right on the Pacific Coast Highway. However, it has nice views of the coast and hills, especially from the hilltop lounge behind the building.

We stayed the entire week. The location in Malibu is great. Close to the Malibu Country Mart and Pepperdine University. the rooms are unassuming but comfortable. The property is located on Pacific Coast Highway, which has loud traffic noise when you initially enter the room, but it is Malibu, so you get used to it. We called the manager to talk to them about the noise and we got a call right back, which we really appreciated. All in a great stay and a wonderful vacation for us.

No iron in room. Why??

The view was great, and room was clean, but we had a disappointing experience with the service. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, and we had a reservation at 530pm for a restaurant, so she needed an iron for her dress. There was no iron in the room, so I called the front desk and he said he was no longer there and that there wouldn't be anyone at the front desk till 6pm due to short staff. I called around 4pm which was close to our reservation, so it was very inconvenient to have to rely on them for an iron. Word of advice, if staff isn't gonna be there 24/7, just add the iron in every room like every single hotel I've been to.

The room was clean, the bed was ok and parking was free. The rest was not great…the wifi and tv didn’t work at all. The toilet paper was so thin that it was transparent. The services don’t match the price paid.
We only stayed one night so it wasn’t a big deal. I wouldn’t recommend a longer stay.
Also, the office was closed the day we left (closed on a Monday?!) so we never officially ‘checked out’.

highly priced, for services they do not deliver: Wifi is NOT WORKING AT ALL. They know it. They clerk fake he is gonna fix it. He commits to ask the \"manager\" (sic sic) to give you a discount .. and then he leaves, and nobody is there anymore ... even at check out, so you are just screwed.

This was a last minute booking that went very well. Checkin area needs a porch light. The darkness made it difficult but ended well. The room had a nice view and great location. Good value too. Everything was very clean and the bed comfortable. There was a little pod coffee maker that was nice. The sugar creamer packets were inadequate. For someone who uses cream, an little coffee mate pod would have been so much of an improvement.

The property is right on PCH and is very loud, also you can hear all your neighbors, especially upstairs stomping. The floors are sliding down so literally you could barely walk straight. The floors were also not cleaned prior to our arrival and were covered in sand. Wifi wasn't working and since there's no cell reception either, I'm glad we only stayed there to sleep for one night. The pool was a joke, open space, not pretty at all and it looks worse than the pic. Considering it was very pricy due to it being Malibu, it felt more like Motel 6. The bed was comfy though and there's public beach access 5 minute walk.

We first stayed here for my wife's birthday last year during the pandemic. It was a flawless experience. Falling asleep listening to the ocean was sublime. We decided to come back again this year, and everything was perfect once again, right up until sleeping time. There is now so much traffic, particularly large trucks going up and down PCH all night which shake the building, that a decent night's sleep was impossible. We got out of bed exhausted. This is certainly not the fault of the hotel. They do a great job. But we can't come back after a night like that.

Throw away the bait before check-in

Before you book, know that this hotel does not have a microwave in the room(s). I must have overlooked this when seeking out accommodations in the area. For the price, I probably would have stayed elsewhere to get the most for my money. It isn't exactly walking distance to tge beach, as advertised so prepare to walk a few blocks on a busy street or pay for parking. Other disappointments include noise (close to the road), management randomly disappeared during posted hours of operation (and the icemaker is locked up inside their office), no heated pool but at the bottom of it was complimentary fruit and cheese, no elevator and last but not least rat bait in your bathroom.

Positives include a soft bed, free Wi-Fi (you're going to need it because the hills block out signal), free ear plugs (true story), free shampoo and conditioner (the good stuff), complimentary boxed water, very nice updated bathroom shower and free parking.

It took several tries to get someone to answer the phone. No one was there to accept a registration. After several attempts I was finally able to make the reservation online and after the manager found the confirmation I was given a code to the lockbox that contained the keys. There was no fridge in the room and no cups for hot beverages that I could make with the coffee maker provided in the room. When I contacted the manager he told me I could look in the lockbox and see if any of the other unoccupied rooms might have some. Since I did not remember the code I decided not to bother. I had had enough. I expect more for $300 per night

The room was literally a room with a bathroom. The AC turned itself off and would not come back on. So sleep was miserable as the room got crazy hot. we had to open the window and the door to get a breeze in there It was me and my best friend so we were risking ourselves by doing that. We only needed the room for sleep since we were out most of the time but in being there it wasn’t great. We even thought about sleeping by the Pool so we could use the Pool beds and enjoy cool air. The bedsheets looked dirty, but it may just be really stained. The restroom was really nice , good updated shower. The TV channels were basic, normally I wouldn’t care but since we couldn’t sleep we were stuck watching late night tv, I wouldn’t stay there again and I only could recommend for someone who’s gonna be out most of their stay. It is within walking distance of a lot of things. The parking was literally in front of the door . These pictures were minutes from checking out.
