We were upgraded to one of the apartments which was great as much bigger than we had booked however sofa bed wasn’t made up, we were missing towels and tv didn’t work. There is a lot of work going on around the village currently with the pub renovations and pier renovations.

We spent one night at the Flamsbrygga during our Norway in a Nutshell tour. The staff was extremely helpful and efficient and the room was clean and fairly sizable, with doors and windows that opened to the outside for ventilation. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet (included); we felt the lunch buffet (which was a separate charge) was overpriced.

Solo fjord stop off.

Clean & functional room with a balcony, in the adjacent building, looking out over the Fjord. Somewhat spoilt by the massive cruise ship in the way but this was expected. One of only a couple of hotels in Flåm but perfect for a night here. The rooms feel outdated and worn, it needs a refurb & due to the lack of other options, it's massively overpriced for the quality. I paid half as much in Bergen & Oslo for twice the size luxury boutique hotels. But generally it's fine. The staff are lovely & really helpful. The options for dinner are limited but the hotel has a good restaurant and their sister pub is amazing! Would highly recommend the ægir Viking tasting menu with matching beers.

Overall rating was 4. The Hoyle is small, nice, and convenient for tours in Flåm. The rooms are on the smaller side and the heat was difficult to control, but other than that it is nice. The balcony for Room 314 is at the end of the hotel facing the fjord and has great views from two balconies.

had a pleasant 1 night stay. Room (1 level up - no elevator) was a bit on the smaller side but clean/comfortable. Nespresso machine was a plus. The check in process was smooth and Marie on the front desk was very friendly with good suggestions. Great location - right on the harbor end and 3 min walk from the Train.

Unbearable odor came from bathroom. The toilet was disgusting with a visible ring of grime inside the bowl. The bed sheets and duvet were unclean and showed signs of significant used.

A request to change room denied due to being fully booked. In this situation, we doubt about it if there is a better room.

We had to keep the balcony door open to ventilate the room for hours and came back later.

The prime location ensures it remains fully booked, consequently, there’s little incentive to maintain the quality and standards.

What we found was completely different from what we had anticipated!!!

The front desk staff very nice, lovely ladies and friendly. However, not from the country so needed to look up information with the questions we had of Central Norway which they knew how to look up easily.

The room was good, however a bit small and easily accessed with a very nice breakfast room. Their restaurant next door was very good with a great entry pictured as the hotel in the page photo with Expedia. We had a nice balcony overlooking the fjord.

Overall great place to stay for walkability to the “town” and the famous Flåm railway to Myrdal and back. A must do for sure!

Flam stopover after fjord ferry from Bergen

Great location for anyone using Flam as a stopover during a Fjord cruise or the train system. Beautiful area but giant cruise ships take away a little. Hotel is pretty decent but overpriced for tourists for what it is, just a bed more or less. Breakfast included is a decent buffet. Room felt a little dated but was fine. Front desk was nice and helpful.
Check-in was easy.

A nice little wood framed hotel in Flam. Very pleasant with balconies. Really excellent breakfast and a fine bar/restaurant attached. The downside is that it is right next to the cruise boat dock, so be sure to request a mountain view, otherwise the \"water\" view on the other side of the building will be of the side of an enormous cruise boat, one after the other, all day, every day, at least in the summer.

The people were super nice. Let's start there. And the room itself was utterly standard. Rectangle. Nice balcony. Nothing special.

But let's talk about the cruise ships. Basically, you've got to be ready for a cruise ship with 5,000+ tourists to be pulling up DIRECTLY in front of your cute little hotel. We're not kidding. We stayed two nights, and there were TWO massive cruise ships each morning right in front of the hotel.

Not being a hater, but \"cruise people\" aren't exactly who WE are, so we were pretty surprised.

The property is well located in the heart of Flam with good access to the tourist information, Flam railway, busses and ferries. The room is located up a flight of stairs without a lift, with a trip hazzard at the top of the stairs. The room is old and dark. It doesn't have a safe or a fridge.We needed to use the torch on our phones to make a cup of tea or find somthing in our bags. The overhead light was dull and didn't work for part of our stay. The beds were very narrow and the room very hot. We couldn’t adjust the temperature successfully. The bathroom was o.k , except the metal covering on the shower hose had come off and one of the cords to the bedside table light was missing the outer casing. Breakfast was quite good. This hotel is more expensive than better hotels in Oslo and Sogndal.

A Real Gem

Incredible location. The restaurant/bar building design was based on a traditional viking hall. But, rather than serving hefty chunks of meat (or whatever vikings traditionally ate) alongside the excellent beer brewed on the premises, the menu presented a good selection of tasty dishes incorporating local ingredients. Our meal was a great way to end a day in which we’d traveled the beautiful fyord by electric ferry and chillaxed on our balcony, enjoying the view of this incredible location.

Had a great stay at this hotel. Less than 5 min walk from the dock and train station. Right next to the restaurant and breakfast buffet which were both amazing. I imagine it’s fully booked most of high season so make your reservation early! Don’t want to miss out on this excellent opportunity to stay the night in Flam.

The property emailed me few days in advance asking if I would like reservation for dinner. I hadn’t considered that since it’s off season but went ahead and made one. We unfortunately missed the early ferry due to our train running behind earlier in the day. I reached out and hotel immediately changed my reservation to accommodate late arrival. By time we got to Flåm I was so grateful to be able to check in and head right to dinner. The restaurant was full with people waiting but we went right to a table. Great beer and AMAZING food. Staff were engaging and funny. Had a great evening.

A very charming hotel. As it was off season, I was given an upgraded room which was spacious and had a balcony, not much use in January, but a great vista. Loved our balcony but not the noise from others hanging out on theirs after 10:00 pm - it kept us up. Rooms were too warm, but there is no thermostat - you have to call the front desk to turn the heat down. We kept the window open all night so it was comfortable gor sleeping. Room was very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast!

This hotel is right at the ferry terminal and is a very short walk to the Flamsbana train. There is a good choice of dining options on site and we had an excellent free breakfast buffet. The only negative is when there is a large cruise ship in the port, which there was for a few hours of our stay, your view is ruined.

Nice hotel with great views as long as the ship is in port. Pub and restaurant excellent.

The staff in the breakfast room were very rude however. We were scolded and told we had to pay extra for breakfast sandwiches we planned to take with us. Instead we left it, only for it to be thrown away. Petty and kind of ruined our whole experience. A sign indicating no food can be taken away would have been helpful.

Stayed one night to break up the Norway in a Nutshell tour. Had problems with the lock to the room. Because of the location and lack of hotels in the area, it was the most expensive during our two -week trip. The room was comfortable enough and the decor was cabin-style. The breakfast was okay but not as good as other hotels where we stayed.

The hotel was beautiful, though I believed it to be larger than it is before arriving, but that was just my perception.

As with all European housing, the rooms are smaller than would be found in the USA. That is not a criticism, just an observation. We still put 4 adults into a family room comfortably.

The restaurant in the Aegir Brewpub and the associated beers were excellent. Breakfast the next morning had all one might want.

Registration and check out were simple and the staff were wonderful in all locations.

It is one of the two bigger hotel in the Flam town, this one is certainly looks better with traditional wood house structure. It is located right at the tip where the town meets the water, so you have all the view you can enjoy. Staying in feels like living in a traditional old time Norwegian cabin, while within the room has all the modern amenities you need. We love the connecting restaurant which has a very good choice of locally brewed beer, and also crossover dishes of local food and different cooking styles.

We had one of the most beautiful views I have ever had at any hotel ever - it was stunning. The room was quiet and very comfortable. We were very happy with our dinner at the Brewpub.

The one thing I would recommend improving is the products provided to guests. No conditioner and no lotion bummed me out as someone with curly hair and dry skin. The shampoo/ body wash provided came out like a foamy hand-soap. An upgrade on the products would go a long way towards making guests feel at home. The breakfast buffet could also use an upgrade - it was ok, but nowhere near some of the buffets we had at other hotels on our trip.
