I loved it here. From the beginning everything felt like I stepped back in time. The owners were super friendly and sweet. The doorbell, a great prynese named Lily was absolutely beautiful. The rooms were clean. Fresh coffee, homemade cider and muffins were in the office. A nice change from the bland breakfast at a hotel. I would definitely come back again and again.

We booked through Expedia, which was a mistake. I printed all of the reservation confirmation information which stated the arrangements for check-in after 9PM needed prior handling. However NO WHERE in the reservation confirmation was a phone number for Rainbow Courts nor for Expedia. I found a number for the motel on the internet but it ended up being a chat bot that didn’t recognize my itinerary number nor my phone number after repeating both multiple times. So frustrating. But none of this was the fault of the owners of the motel. Rainbow Courts is advertised as an historical property and its age is beginning to show. We were in a building somewhat separated from the main grouping, so we can’t speak to the condition of the other units, cottages, etc. There seems to be quite a bit of deferred maintenance. Also, we were located directly across the street from an outdoor bar which had loud music blaring until about midnight. On the plus side, the A/C worked well and the beds were very comfortable. The owner that we met was friendly and helpful.

Cute little hotel and worth the stay. Loved the living area and small kitchen. Very comfy beds. My only recommendation is to check the humidifier before going to bed to make sure it’s empty. We woke up at 3AM with loud beeping and blinking lights until we emptied it. Not enough to take a star off though.

This hotel is so quaint. It's extremely clean. The room was amazing. Had a little kitchenette and dining area to sit in. The bed was extremely comfortable. Two nice chairs to sit and watch TV. I would come back here again and again. The owners Dan and his wife were so kind. They put out homemade blueberry muffins in the morning that you could have with your complementary coffee. The whole experience was wonderful.

The inn is just perfect for a quiet and restful stay. The grounds are so peaceful and beautiful. The inn keeper went out of his way to make sure my TV was working. My room was extremely clean and comfortable. If you are in the Rockdale area don't waste your time with the corporate motels. Try the Rainbow Courts. You won't be disappointed.

Rainbow Courts was a fantastic place to stay while exploring the area. I loved the historic Carraige House with its rich colors and comfort amenities like the jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, and king-size bed. In the morning and evening sitting on the balcony patio you can hear the train going by and if you have a good imagination you can almost picture the town and hotel as they were over a hundred years ago. We will be back!

We like that it is not only very clean and fashionably furnished but reflects a taste of history when “motor hotels” began in the decade1918 and the growing use of automobiles.

The cottage took a little time to warm up the first night but we were comfortable. In the morning we woke and it was cold and there was no power ( though we had been happily warm in bed). So we we were moved across to another cottage which was lovely, but slightly less practical with our cases because it was separate living and bedrooms. We enjoyed great conversations with the owners and would happily stay here again.

Lovely hotel. Stayed in the Garden Room, a nicer suite. It was very plush and nice in the areas you could immediately see, but really dusty and dirty in the places you couldn’t see.
The train runs every 2 hours or so about a block and 1/2 from the hotel and they lean on the horn whilst passing. If that kind of ground rumbling horn blasting noise would bother you…. Well, you don’t have many other choices in Rockdale.

Stayed for one night with our family. Staff was very friendly and room was clean. Super cute motel. It’s older so the rooms are a bit small, but that’s to be expected. Cute shabby chic decor.

The big let down was how tiny the rooms are, not sure the bed was a queen or a double, the bed was like a hammock, we kept falling into each other and both woke up with sore backs and necks.
The property itself is nice, but they need to invest in some beds and if you are claustrophobic or want any kind of space do not stay in the small cottages. They do offer other spaces that look larger so try that if you want to stay here.

The most precious place ever! You just gotta stay here if your in town or just driving through, you won’t regret it. The staff was amazing, the property was beautiful and I love history so staying in the oldest motel in Texas was super cool!

Rainbow Courts was such a surprising and wonderful find. The property was well maintained, the room was very clean, the bed was super comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. I actually wished we were able to spend another night there. I will definitely stay here again, if given the chance. Oh, and the banana nut muffins in the office in the morning are delicious!

Pleasantly surprised!
We had not been to Rockdale before and when looking for a place to stay Rainbow Courts had a high rating. That held true and the hospitality was so refreshing. The complimentary hot apple cider was the best I believe I've ever had. It was just a quaint and lovely place to stay, like a step back in time when these were the typical type of overnight accommodations If I have the opportunity to stay in Rockdale again I'll definitely stay at the Rainbow Courts Motel!

Great spot! Very clean and comfortable. We really liked how the rooms were set apart from each other like individual cottages. The room included a small living area which we also enjoyed. Everything was immaculate!

Gym in Rockdale Texas
It is the oldest motel in Texas. Has been refurbished and is a gym in small town Texas USA! I would call the decor country chic. There are a few different styles of rooms to choose from. Pleasantly surprised!

Pleasantly Surprised!
I didn't know what to expect, especially since all of the pics of the property/rooms were different, so to be honest my expectations were very low. However, we were VERY pleasantly surprised upon arrival! It was so neat, the decor/furnishings (antiques) were beautiful, and everything has obviously been taken care of & well maintained. It was a really neat experience for my kids & I! We also slept very well - the beds were very comfortable.
One more note - we were going to be late arriving, & we didn't realize this was a small family-operated property, so we didn't think about calling ahead, but the owner of the property called us to make sure we were still coming. He was very accommodating & made arrangements with us so we could get checked in quickly & easily.
