The carpet in the room felt dirty turned but couldn't tell it due to it being a dark color; caused bottom of feet to turn black. The shower rod was coming off the wall, so the curtain wouldn't stay closed to keep water from getting on the floor. The 2 lamps in the room each had defective bulbs and one of the lavatory outlets was not working; needs replacing. Appears most guests were all put on the same side of the hotel and numerous guests stayed outside partying until after 10 pm. The continental breakfast was very disappointing, with very little variety of items and coffee bottle ran out rather quickly. Staff was very friendly though and probably the best thing I can say about this hotel. I make this trip to Rockdale once a year and stay several days. Unless I have no choice, I will not stay here again.

The room was a little old but that's expected for the country and the breakfast wasn't much and the operating hours was a little early for me but my main issue was with the second door lock being so loose that it could come off the door frame.

Nice for the price.

Just needed a place to sleep for the night. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice. Room was very large. The bed was so soft i slept all night. Bath towels were soft..not rough like other lower price hotels. Room 117 the AC was a bit noisey till i fell asleep.
Breakfast is waffles, toast, nutrigrain bars or hostess snacks. Milk, orange juice and coffee. Eish they provided peanut butter for the waffles.

BUGS

There were multiple dead bugs in the restroom when we arrived. The room smelled musty as soon as we walked through the door. The worst of all was my wife felt something crawling on her head at night she reached for it and crushed a cockroach. So if you’re looking for a lovely night full of creepy crawlers then this is the place for you. Also the pillow that came with the cot had pee stains on it and reeked. Would not recommend this place to anyone and all should be aware of the horrible conditions this place is in.

Apparently SURE STAY is the lowest quality offering in the BEST WESTERN portfolio. I don't expect BW to be very good, but the bed was so cheap...and tired...and saggy that a good nights sleep was impossible. In fact, about 3 AM I considered walking over to the next motel, renting a room, and coming back in the AM to get my stuff. Then I considered just loading up and leaving but I hate driving in the dark. So I sat up until daylight, went to breakfast and came back and packed up. Never again!

I have stay here 4 days every October since 2018 for Rockdale Fair and Rodeo. I have never been disappointed in the rooms until this year, October 2021.

The coffee in the room was nasty tasting using ether city water or bottled water, it didnt make a difference, and there was only enough to make 2 cups but you had to use 2 different blends to do that. The coffee at the front for the continental breakfast was not any better. It would also have been nice to have the availability of butter for use with the breakfast options.

The chair (not the office chair) in the room had multiple large stains and looked like it was from the 1980's. There were multiple water stains on the ceiling throughout the room.
The bathroom light bulb was out the night I arrived and the exhaust fan was unplugged ( found that out the next morning when the front desk came and changed out the bulb).

The good point was the staff and service. Very friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make my stay comfortable.

In my opinion since Best Western took it over it went down hill.
Very unlikely I stay there again.

My microwave did not work and during check out the check out lady made an inappropriate comment to my son while I went to my vehicle to get by cell phone as she was stating my payment was declined and I had actually paid in advance. In fact, my card was charged twice! So, when I stepped out she told my son \"why did she run out so fast\" \"I hate my job\" as if I was trying to skip out on my bill and leave my son there. Unfortunately, my son did not tell me this until after I had left the hotel, otherwise, I would have brought this inappropriate behavior/comment to her attention.

These people claimed that we smoked inside our room(I am 30 weeks pregnant my husband nor myself smoke) then refused to give us our deposit back! Then called the police because he claimed that it smelled of Marijuana and that there was ashes on the table! The room reeked of smoke, mold and mildew when we arrived also, had stains on the couches and the keys constantly disconnected I had to walk to the front office multiple times to get them to reactivate it! Never staying here again! Oh wait we’re not allowed to because he felt “threatened” and had the police force us to sign papers to not re-enter the property again! What a joke!! Our fault for trying to save money and stay at a CHEAP low rating hotel! Definitely spend the extra $30 and stay and the Days Inn down the road!

Hotel is on the outskirts of town, but is just a short drive to downtown. The facility is not as new as many in the area, but it is comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was minimal but filling. Coffee was always available and nice and hot.

I was very pleased with the room. It was much cleaner than some of the reviews would indicate. There were some stains on the carpet and the chair arms, but that is to be expected in an older facility. This room was much nicer than many of the rooms I've stayed in at Tom B's place.

Overall, an excellent value for my money.

Ok - but, old and worn. Needed some TLC

Our key card did not work. The manager came 3 times to change the card. The lock was broken and would only respond to the master card. We felt trapped in our room. If we left we had to have the manager come back and open the door. The stairs and walkway concrete was chipped up pretty bad and we did not feel safe going up and down the stairs. The room itself was clean and neat but obviously worn and older. The carpet had some bare spots. It would not be my first choice for that price.

Facility is in dire need of a good exterminator, cleaning and regular maintenance. When arrived and prepared bed to sleep, found dirty laundry and below standard accommodations in the room. Poorly maintained. I know this will probably not go online but just to let ownership know, will not be returning. We had to find other accommodations half way in our stay and switch to another hotel. Will probably not see a refund of the last 3 nights not used.
