his hotel has virtually no amenities. The reception isn't even a proper front desk—you have to speak to someone through a small window, which feels impersonal and unwelcoming.
The rooms are poorly equipped, with no closets, no drawers, and nowhere to hang clothes. There is absolutely no storage space for guests staying more than a night or two.
I was traveling with my 80-year-old mother-in-law, and the beds were incredibly high—so high that getting in and out of them was difficult and unsafe. After she nearly fell, I asked the reception staff for a step stool. Three days later, nothing had been done.
At that point, I decided we had no choice but to leave the hotel early for safety reasons. Despite checking out six nights before the end of our reservation, the hotel refused to refund the unused nights.
This property is not suitable for elderly guests and could also be dangerous for young children. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The room was mostly good, but the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling secured only with blue painter’s tape (seriously) and the ceiling above the toilet was slowly dripping water (certainly from a leak in the toilet plumbing in the room above). I took photos of these problems and showed them to two different desk staff and they said they would look into it. I took the photos to be sure they would refund the $100 security deposit collected at check-in. The deposit was refunded (I mention this because other reviews said they did not get their deposit refunded).
There is no breakfast provided - just coffee in the lower level.
The neighborhood is a bit sketchy as others have noted, but I didn’t worry about it too much because I was traveling by bicycle (and could ride to a less sketchy area in 2 minutes).
I give the hotel 4 out of 5 stars because of the value, i.e., a pretty decent room (notwithstanding the issues noted above) at a very reasonable price. I would stay there again based on value for the money.

Upon check-in there was a typical $5/day \"resort\" fee, but I paid it without too much complaint. However, there is no \"resort\" amenities. No pool, no gym. Desk person said it was for the wifi, but I said I was using my phone as my wifi hotspot. Oh well.

But the real bummer is that there a construction equipment company that occupies half of the block across the street. Hearing everything from loud metallic clanging sounds and truck back-up beeps.

The hotel prices were good, but just beware that if you need a good night's sleep, you'll be awaked in the early morning.

The property is in a very sketchy area. the bullet proof glass and staff who appear to have given up are what greets you, along with the nickel and diming of daily fee, damage deposit, early or late checkout fees.
My room request was completely ignored because \"it was the last room\", even though a steady stream of guests arrived after me.
The deadbolt was non-functional.I was told to take it or leave, but that no refund would be given and that guests can't speak to a manager, only by EMAIL the next day! Incompetent clerk smugly held up his phone saying that's what manager said, and did I want to leave or not.
The ONLY thing we require as guests is a safe place to sleep. This motel DIDN'T offer that. They messaged me asking for a good review after I left, which probably is why they have a ridiculously exaggerated score. DON'T BE FOOLED, or doesn't deserve anything near that and I HIGHLY recommend you just pick any other property to stay at. They do nothing to earn your business and treat you like the financial transaction you are.

Rated 5 stars from a value perspective. The hotel seems fairly new and is in excellent condition. Room was a good size, very clean. The bathroom was very nice and also clean. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

The subway is only 2 stops away from Manhattan. The walk from the F and M subway stop at 21st St/Queensbridge appears a little sketchy, but I've stayed in this area about seven times and no one has ever bothered me. There are a handful of area eating options, particularly Il Miglio, a six minute walk from the Capital. Enormous portions, great-tasting food and low prices. Sunshine Coffee - about a 5-minute walk was good for breakfast and rock-bottom prices for anywhere, let alone NYC.

I was able to find street parking, but the hotel doesn't have parking for guests. For me, the lack of a decent relaxing spot was disappointing. We were told to head to the C level for coffee in the morning. When you get off the elevator on the C level, there is a huge room with an empty counter with the exception of a singular coffee machine and a stack of disposable cups. There wasn't even regular coffee and the \"espresso\" that was dispensed was terribly sweet. I like sugar in my coffee, but not this. This space had 2 card-style tables, a few chairs and a couple of dorm style couches. It wasn't very inviting. I believe it could be a great space, but I would recommend visiting another similar space and seeing how things are done differently. I'm not sure how to manage said space with few people on staff, but it still needs to be addressed. The only other place to sit outside of our room was the lobby. This sitting area was small, which is okay, but was located right next to the main entrance. This detail makes the upgrade of the C level space even more important.

Most hotels you visit have things like hot water, continental breakfast access to drinkable water. This place is not accommodating to guests in these regards. Halls quite noisy rooms shake when someone down the hall slams a door. Very overpriced for what is actually offered. Owners should take some lessons in hotel customer etiquette.

The room was clean, and the staff were always willing to help. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood, with a metro line nearby that goes directly to Manhattan and many of the main tourist attractions. There is also a convenience store nearby, and the breakfast was good.

Staff were very nice but the vibe was bad. Reception is behind a thick plexiglass screen. They open a slot to talk to you. Our room on ground floor amplified every sound in the lobby. At midnight someone started playing loud Indian music at reception. 630AM they were vacuuming. It was all loud. We didn't sleep well. One night out of 3 paid was enough and we checked out. They refused any refund. Policy, we understand but still. We won't be back. Not recommended, at all.

Decent location for the price. Bare bones amenities- no in room coffee/tea, no microwave, only one side of the king bed had a bedside table and lamp. The towels were changed daily but we were 3 people and we only got 2 of everything. We wanted a comfortable place at a good price, which we got. Close enough to the subway for us, we don’t mind walking. It was just a place to sleep for our 4 night NYC exploration, it did the job.

Bathroom had a hole in the ceiling and it dripped water. Overall it was fine and I would have no problem staying there again

If you are a light sleeper, I do not recommend staying here. You can hear everything in the hallways and even other people’s rooms down the hall. Found hair on the walls in the shower. Pillows were incredibly flat. Staff were polite and helpful but do not recommend if you want to get some sleep.

First off we book a room with a king’s bed and a city view when we arrive we are told they want a $100 deposit after we already paid for the room. Ok no problem next we are given a key and and told it’s on the 3rd floor we go in and it’s a room with double beds and musty smell so off we go downstairs and see the lady at the front desk we tell her about the room thinking she made a mistake but lo and behold she says that’s what we booked we show her our receipt that says king’s room with city view she says oh let me show u the king’s room we go and it was a bed and a tv and table the room was smaller than the first room so we tell her that this can’t be right she then says she doesn’t know where the other king’s room is so we bite the bullet and stay in the double bed room mind u it’s almost 2am within a hour someone called and said the tv was too loud we said ok turned it down to 30 out of 100 15 minutes later the lady from the front desk was at the door saying the tv was loud as she’s standing there I tell her it’s only on 30 she didn’t even hear it from where she was standing we just turned it off we got up started leaving around 9 go downstairs see new front desk person and see about last nite fiasco all he could say was it’s on Expedia DF!!! Call Expedia and all they did was credit us $25. All in all be careful of false advertisement just to get u in

The hotel and room was clean! The staff were nice. The AC and heat worked great and the bed was comfy. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Several options for a quick breakfast or meal within a short walk. There is no coffee in the hotel but coffee a short walk or door dash away. There is a fridge in the room. There is a microwave in the hotel not the room, that I used every morning to make oatmeal. Hotel very conveniently located beoour commute into Manhattan via subway and the airport. Would highly recommend.

For the deal we got I thought the room was a really good size. Plus a mini fridge. The front desk staff was so friendly and great. House keeping was always nearby. I am convinced that the reviews are fake. One of the reasons I chose this hotel because there were several comments that this is ideal for a solo traveler. If you’re a woman travelling alone, this is not the place for you. The area looks sketchy as well.

Thin walls. First morning, a guy nearby was talking so loud, I could hear everything. Second night, I was awakened approximately 1:45 a.m. with someone banging on my door. Loud, speaking in a foreign language. I called the office for help and I was dismissed at first. I was told it was just some drunk person. I got up the following morning and checked out by 9:30. I couldn’t wait to get out. The front desk is enclosed in glass. I don’t know if this was from the Covid days or staff protection. That should give you an idea of the neighborhood.

I frequent NY and trying various areas. I know that I won’t be returning to this place.

I was pleased with my stay at The Capital Hotel. My room was clean and the staff were helpful. I was pleased that during my week stay it was very quiet at night (inside & outside). It was only during my last night that I heard people talking in the next room, and someone snoring (faintly heard in my room). Lol. But generally, it was quiet.

The room was a good size. It all looks relatively new.
The bathroom was roomy & modern. The bed was comfy.

The hotel is on a semi-commercial street, with other hotels & new builds around. It isn’t a nice area. But it’s very fast to get into Manhattan. It’s a 9 minute walk to the subway….., then two stops to the Upper East Side.

There’s a 24 hour deli & laundromat nearby as well as numerous popular fast food options.

There’s government housing nearby, but I always felt safe. If you keep to yourself you’ll be okay.

I’d stay again.

For the price, I didn’t mind that it was a 25 minutes subway ride to Times Square. The area of the hotel? On the walk from the subway? In the gutter there’s trash, on the sidewalks, trash, on the street, trash. The hotel has an entire downstairs that they could be using for a continental breakfast, instead they only have a cappuccino machine. Not that that’s a bad thing but I think a continental breakfast would bring in more people from all of the other US states; they love a free breakfast. Nice, modern, clean rooms.

I needed a place to stay in Long Island City area. It was a last minute type of reservation - unplanned. I browsed nearby hotels using Expedia and found Capital Hotel. I was skeptical before check in, because the price was lower than the average hotel prices in the area - I was expecting mediocre rooms and amenities. When I checked in, I was surprised, because the room was cozy, clean, modern and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay in Capital Hotel again. I highly recommend this hotel.

The room was messy, we found hair in our sheets. The bathroom was sticky and messy. The walls are also extremely thin and you can hear everything from other rooms. The pictures are deceiving and definitely not worth the price that was paid.
The neighborhood around the hotel is less than ideal at night. There are no street lights and police at every corner. If you are traveling as a family I suggest you don’t go out after dark.

I usually don’t do reviews, however I feel this will be beneficial to future customers who visit this hotel. Despite all the issues, they accommodated every step of the way with anything with had issues with. The first room was missing the latch at the top, the room started off really cold and warmed up within 30 minutes, a the charger under the lamp was missing. For that reason, we were moved into another room which had no issues at all and was very comfortable. Hard to find parking, but the area is cool. We stayed on the 2nd floor, (it’s 8 floors) and it was noise in the hallway here and there but nothing too disruptive. Nice Roku tv, very comfortable bed with soft sheets, and the bathroom was very spacious, clean, and cute. Would stay again!
