I reviewed this hotel a few days ago on my way to Humahuaca. I said I would be back, here I am, before my flight to Mendoza, where I booked the Sheraton too. Actually staying 3 nights, expedia only had one available, booked the other two direct. This is a very good hotel. I have mentioned the staff, same this time, great service, friendly and helpful. I had my third bife de chorizo here last night, best in Argentina (jugoso - medium rare). Also very pleasant restaurant, super white tablecloths, good quality cutlery, some areas are well lit (I chose one of those), others are more romantic.

The condition of the property likes a 3 star hotel and needs renovation. The corners of marble tea tables at the reception seating area are chipped with sharp corners. The door locks (2 out of 2) in the women restrooms stalls in the receptable area are broken per my wife.
The guest room is covered with solid carpet.
The location of the property is about 10-15 minutes walk from downtown.

Great staff, dated hotel

It was not so easy to decide on a hotel in Salta when my reference for a hotel in Argentina has been the Palacio Duhau (Park Hyatt). I decided on the Sheraton mainly because there's at least some expectation of what it would be like.

I'd start with the great points -- the staff was really friendly and knowledgeable, made great recommendations on where to go, and which roads we should use for our forward journey to Jujuy. Perks that came with the hotel were also quite good -- there was a breakfast and mid-afternoon buffet that was really convenient and quite well stocked. If you're in the upper floors, the view is great. Finally, there's a garage, which is an advantage if you have a rental for exploring the region.

That said, there's quite some room for improvement. Walking into the lobby felt like a time warp -- pretty much going back to the eighties with how it looked. There's carpeting everywhere, which could be an issue if you've got allergies. The bathroom could really use an update. The bed had wheels on them, which was rather awful for a light sleeper. Finally, room service could also be improved in both presentation and flavor.

With the calibre of staff, as well as the location, the Sheraton could have quite some advantages -- but if it remains dated, it could easily lose out to up-and-coming boutique hotels.

Nice hotel on top of hillside overlooking the city. Room is great and everything works - AC, fan for night noise, wifi, etc. Very satisfied. Restaurant has a very limited selection and dinner food is average. Best to go into town for dinners. Breakfast and evening snacks are abundant and great treats. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel in good location

Hotel has a great view of the city and is located in a nicer, more residential area of the city. Handy location if you decide to walk up or down to the cable car station at the top of the city. Nice pool and gym with good views of the city too. Didn't get chance to sample the breakfast as we had to leave early. Hotel staff were very helpful and sorted our early morning taxi to the airport.

I was charged for breakfast at check out, and it wasn't cheap. They didn't tell me when I checked in. In spite of that I went back a second time, and when I went to check in they said I would have to pay half a day for early check in. It was Christmas week and the hotel was empty. So go figure.

Hospitality at its best, excellent location at a waking distant from restaurants and attractions.
Negative points: swimming pool needs maintenance, also whirl pool, in fact the heater didn't work for 2 days. Our room frigobar didn't work despite the fact we asked twice for repair. A bad note for the lobby located next to the casino whose visitor smoke outside the lobby but pollute outside and inside the lobby. The best of the hotel: the staff.

This quiet Sheraton business hotel has got all the comforts including a great pool with sun deck and a good sized fitness room.
The windows in the standard rooms cannot open but a noisy air conditioning can be switched on.
The hotel is located on the edge of town upon a hillside.
It is a 15 minute walk to the centre of town. A Taxi needs to be called but it shows up promptly.

The Best View in Salta

This hotel had very nice rooms and was great value for staying in Salta. The attached casino was nice as well. The breakfast had a good variety of food and good coffee. The wifi was so-so but it never seems like hotels can get wifi right. The hotel was set on the side of a hill and overlooked the nicest residential area of Salta and was close to Balcarce where there were many good restaurants and clubs to explore.

Nice hotel with helpful staff and good amenities (including business centre, office for booking trips, nice tapas bar and a gym, etc).

I would recommend to both business travelers as well as to those touring the area.

The hotel is situated on a hill at the edge of Salta so there's a great view but it is about a 25 minute walk into town.

I think this was the best option in this tawn

It is in a nice and quiet neiberhood.. The views are wonderfull and it is nearer everything.
It has a casino inside, but is small and quiet and very cheap!!.
The bar is a little expensive for the service but it is acceptable.
They have a bar outside near the swimming pool that have a very nices views of the city and is absolutly shiness

Overall a good hotel but 1 or 2 annoying issues.

We were extemely disappointed to find out that we had to pay $12 pesos an hour to use the wifi in our rooms. For an international hotel such as the Sheraton to charge for wifi access is disgraceful - particularly as most small hotels provide free wifi access these days. We also feel that Expedia should have made this clear in their notes on the hotel. It was not clear at all.

We were also disappointed by the noise of the AC unit in the room. It ws so loud we had to turn it off at night - which was the time when we wanted to use it.

LLegue a las 7 am, pregunté por los horarios de la Alberca, me informaron que estaba cerrada por lluvia (estaba lloviendo en ese momento) pero que abriría una vez dejara de llover... a las 10 am con el cielo ya despejado pregunté por la apertura y no me dieron respuesta ... que iban a validar con el SPA, a las 11:30 volví a marcar y me informan que estará cerrada hasta las 4 por que preveen lluvia.

Son las 12:30 y ya esta lloviendo de nuevo... entre 9 y 11:30 estuvo seco el clima y aún así estuvo cerrada

Seleccioné este hotel por la alberca... y no la podré disfrutar.

Tuvimos complicaciones al ingresar al hotel. Nosotros pagamos la reserva con tarjeta de crédito y cuando llegamos al hacer el chek-in , la recepción no tenia registrado el pago

Es un hotel que se publicita 5 estrellas pero a lo sumo es 4 , dos detalles para tener en cuenta el mini bar por política del hotel lo mantienen vacío ( increíble ) secador de cabello no disponible en la habitación, mi esposa lo tuvo que solicitar a recepción y le respondieron que estaban todos ocupados ( luego de un pequeño entredicho pudieron conseguir uno a los 15 minutos de solicitarlo .

Not the big splendor as we would expect from a Sheraton Hotel.
Beautiful entrance hall but the room was somewhat dated.
It was possible to take a really hot shower, not easy to find in Argentina.
The airconditioning was very loud during the night but it was too hot in the room to turn it off.
However: great breakfast with a lot of fresh fruits and sweets.
Helpfull and friendly staff who spoke English very well.
