We loved this charming hotel in an even more charming town. The breakfast was great. There are lots of shops just outside the front door and the parking garage is literally next door. Don’t miss the chocolatier, Heimdal, just down the street. Highly recommend.

When we questioned this, she gave us a much large


The girl at the desk when we checked in was totally confused about our reservation. She told my husband that she had found it and when I went in to get more information on the room she asked me to pay for it. After 30 minutes she finally figured out the problem and gave us a room key. I had signed up for a superior double room and she originally gave us a room just big enough for the bed. When we questioned this, she gave us a much larger room that was what I thought I had ordered. She apologized profusely but it was not a real pleasant experience.

Great hotel in Arendal

The Grand Hotel has a super location - 2 minute walk into the center of town. Staff are super friendly and the complimentary soup each evening is a nice touch. We will definitely be back.

3 nights in a broom cupboard

I booked a budget single room so I knew it was going to be small, but how small can a room in a decent looking hotel really be? The answer is ' a lot smaller than you think!'. I've looked again at the photos on the hotel website but they don't convey quite how cramped it actually is.
There is no headboard on the bed so I put the chair between the bed and the window to stop the pillows falling off whilst I slept. Your clothes have to go onto 3 hangers which live on 2 wall hooks over the bed

The shower room was similar tiny; luckily I'm only 5'7\" so I could sit on the toilet without squashing my face against the opposite wall but I pity any six footers who stayed there. There is also a step running across the floor of the shower room, but with the tiles being all the same dark green pattern it could not be seen. Even when I knew it was there I still managed to twist my foot on it or trip over it in a momentary lack of concentration.

The rest of the hotel is fine; nicely decorated with a nautical theme, with friendly staff, reasonable breakfast and light evening meal (soup and various salads).

I hope the 'normal' rooms are good because these budget rooms let the hotel down very badly.

Kjempedyktig resepsjonist som gir vennlig og bra service. Housekeeping må skjerpe seg. Har bodd på dette hotellet flere ganger og hver gang er det noe som ikke er helt rent på rommet. Housekeeping slurver en del. Hotellets direktør bør ta en runde med lommelykt og lyse i kriker og kroker, fra rom til rom. Mye støv og \"skitt\" her og der, og som lett kan vaskes. Men hotellet er sjarmerende og ligger sentralt i Arendal. Fint interiør og god atmosfære. Kommer gjerne tilbake.

Fin beliggenhet og trivelig personale. Liten, men god frokost. Beste eggerøre jeg har fått på hotell. Melken stod ute, så ble litt lunka, men det var det eneste å utsette. Fantastisk med gratis kveldsmat fra 19-21, og rabatt på flere restauranter i byen ved å fremvise nøkkelkort.

Vi var veldig fornøyd med rom, seng og aircondition. Fornøyd med renhold. Frokostbuffeen var helt grei - veldig godt brød.
Savnet en lampe ved sittegruppen.
Et minus var dusjforheng på badet, noe som føles uhygienisk. Såpedispenser ved vasken var nesten tom v/ankomst.
Ved avreise kunne ikke heis benyttes, så det ble mange trapper ned med bagasje fra fjerde etasje.

Sentralt og bra overnatting i Arendal

Vi overnattet en natt lørdag til søndag og parkerte på gata siden etter kl 18 var gratis. Det var fint hotell og rommet var brukbart størrelse. Likte ikke helt dusjen fordi det kun var en dusjhode høyt ovenfra, ikke så brukervennlig for damene. Frokosten var helt greit.

Stolpejakt i Arendal

Vi møtte en svært hyggelig dame som ønsket oss velkommen. Innsjekking gikk hurtig. Rommet var ikke stort men beliggenhet var perfekt for oss. Da vi spiste ute om kvelden, gikk vi glipp av kveldsmaten. Frokost var helt ok. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake.

Alt perfekt. Herlig med en enkel kveldsrett da vi kom. Bare ett MEN; det er en liten uteplass med møbler der gjester kan ta en røyk; litt ubehaglig da ventilasjonen trakk det rett inn i rommet. Ellers mange takk fra oss. Kommer gjerne tilbake!

Et perfekt hotell. Vi hadde flere rom. Alle rom hadde kjempe gode senger, frokost og service var perfekt. Parkeringshuset lå vegg i vegg med hotellet.

God service fra personalet, Greit rom, kjempegod seng. Veldig lite bad. Minus for dusjforheng i altfor trang dusj, og vann fløt over hele gulvet under dusjingen. Knallgod frokost🙌 Alt i alt har vi hatt et greit opphold🤗

Hotel der umiddelbart var fint, men noget gammelt. Badeværelset var skrabet og stålbadekaret faldet fra hinanden. Samlet set kunne hotellet trænge til nogle investeringer/opdateringer.
Personalet var rigtig godt og eftermiddags/aftenvagten en særlig god oplevelse for vores familie.
Der er ingen gratis parkering, men et meget dyrt parkeringsanlæg, som vi gav 350kr for yderligere (175kr dagligt). Jeg forstår ikke, at Grand Hotel ikke har en parkeringsaftale med dem.

Plysj og gjenboere til besvær på trangt rom.

Jeg bodde 6 dager på Grand hotell under en folkedansfestival. Jeg hadde et tosengsrom alene, men opplevde at det var trangt, spesielt om det skulle bodd to personer der. Senga var smal og med en overmadrass som gled av sengebunnen. Jeg opplevde senga ukomfortabel.
Rommet hadde to vinduer på langsiden og det ble svært varmt der. Rommet lå ut mot gata vinduer på andre siden. Det var unødvendig mye plysj på rommet, rundt alle møbler. jeg la vekk alle sorte puter og tepper og ba om å få slippe å ha dem på senga. Det føltes urenslig. Og renholderne gjorde som jeg ba om. Det ga dårlig plass på nattbordet. Plysj gir også en mindre ren følelse.
jeg vil framheve personalet, både de som rengjorde rommet, hyggelige og flinke samt resepsjonen som var hyggelige og serviceminded. God frokost og hyggelige folk også der.
Det av altså selve utformingen av rommet og møbleringen som jeg reagerte negativt på.

Dårlig håndtering

Litt skuffende når vi både sender mail og ringer for å gi beskjed om at vi kommer veldig sent siden dette er bryllupsdagen vår, også når vi ankommer midt på natten er vårt «Superior rom» gitt til ett annet brudepar… Etter en stund får vi ett vanlig rom, og ingen penger tilbake for det vi egentlig hadde betalt for.. Vanligvis hadde det ikke spilt så stor rolle, men akkurat på bryllupsnatten vår var det ganske kjedelig 😝😝

Just ok

The hotel itself is ok- the name is a bit misleading, as there is nothing “grand” about this hotel. We got a room on the backside of the hotel with just a tiny window. If you stay here, insist on the front. The housekeeping was in our room, but didn’t do the bed.
