A fabulous hotel with great staff ,good food and beautiful location. The decor was particularly well done with a blend of modern and traditional themes .

Lovely Room in a Gorgeous Hotel

We had a great stay at Cornhill Castle. Alice at reception welcomed us and let us know she would be available for any further assistance if required. I did ask if the heating could be turned up in our room as it was particularly cold. This was dealt with immediately by offering us another room or a mini electric radiator. We opted for the latter. The Dining room and bar area were also both cold so I'm not sure if there had been a problem with the heating system. It didn't spoil our stay though.

Nice …. But hard to sleep

They checked us in to someone else’s room with their luggage sitting there. Bed was super noisy you could barely breathe too deeply or it would be squeezing very loudly. Heating has no controls in room so woke up in middle of night like we were sleeping in an oven. Room and hotel itself were lovely but pity after spending £200 for a single night to barely manage any sleep.

Smashing hotel

Beautiful hotel, not a castle but a very big house built in the Scottish Baronial style. Staff were very friendly. Our room was immaculate and a very pleasant place to be. We had a good evening meal and an excellent breakfast. All told, we had a marvellous stay at a lovely hotel, which was also outstanding value for money.

It was amazing to sleep in a castle. We tryed to book dinner in advance but we were told the restaurant was closed. When we came to check inn they asked us if we wanted to eat in the restaurant we told them we tryed to book but that they told us it was closed. The thing is you can only eat at the restaurant if you are staying for the night. We had a delicious dinner with a lovely host. The bed was comfortable but the door in the coridor has squeeky hinges so every time someone opend that door we heard it. We were missing a tv remote but git another one real quick. The shower was lovely, you just need to put a towel down on the end otherwise the whole bathroom will get wet. The breakfast was okay. Some delicious options but they didnt fill the table so everytime you wanted something that wasnt on the table you had to ask. Quick check out and again very friendly staff.

Nice but could be alot better.

Newly tastfully decorated, staff friendly and attentive.
Standard of food was on a par with pub grub, so not for foodies, also the dining room windows needed a wipe down due to dead insects.
Wardrobe in room almost useless for hanging clothes full of other items .
Better provision for hanging your cloths is needed, the wardrobe was small and was used to store a fridge, safe, hairdryer and ironing board.
In short a potentially very nice hotel let down by attention to details.

Not worth for money

Staff was friendly and helpful 10/10 for that BUT not worth for money. No amenities in the property, no bath tub, no pool not sauna etc. It just Castle & room. Was expecting much better.

Lovely place but rock hard eggs

Welcoming staff and lovely building. Dinner was great but the breakfast was poor and I couldn't eat it. Never seen poached so hard, mattress on the bed was pretty 'used' with a big dip in it so not the most comfortable for the money. They also charged my card for 50% of my booking 2 days before our stay without permission and the balance on the arrival day rather than 'pay at property' which was how the booking was made. I then had to chase up the invoices.

Overall our stay was great. Was attending a wedding at Cornhill Castle everything was great apart from slight delay in getting our room as Bride was using it to get ready so wasn't too bothered. Room was huge, with both bathroom and separate shower room. Very comfortable.

The bedroom and bathroom were excellent , clean and full of character. Hotel was special and with great weather to sit outside and enjoy views with refreshments. Food was excellent in Gillies Restaurant. Will definitely return.

The suite was overlooking the front car park and thoroughfare for staff … not what I expected for the price we paid . No view . No internet either . Too far apparently (there is such a thing called a booster)

Great find, beautifully appointed rooms- all large and decorated way above the price paid, staff very friendly , stunning location
Would recommend as a stopping place when travelling from from south England to north Scotland
Menu is good pub food rather than high end but priced very well and food very good

What a treat! Lovely castle hotel, traditionally decorated throughout, clean and great food. We had the dinner, bed breakfast deal great value! Staff wonderful .... nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended and next time we're in the area a definite re book!

the room was lovely but overlooked a very noisy extractor fan which was very poor for an executive room....staff disinterested.
food was average...roast potatoes hard & pale in colour...spoilt the roast dinner...again ..poor for the quality of the hotel

Not for the business traveler. WiFi almost none existent 0.3mb. Could not do any work from the hotel.
Service in the restaurant very slow. Waited 40 minutes for after after finishing the main course, then gave u and cancelled. Good hotel but no sense of urgency for business people.

The location was stunning but nigh on impossible to find at night as the hotel sign isn’t lit up. Brilliant grounds. Room fit for a king. All mod cons available. Breakfast lovely - cooked perfectly but service very slow. Staff very helpful and kind. Only downside is the heat - their heating bill must be through the roof! Very warm - almost a relief to get outside, just to breathe. All in all, the best place I have ever stayed at. Will definitely be returning and have recommended it to family and friends. Keep up the good work!

1 had to buy water for room
2 Breakfast - no toast,bacon over cooked.had to ask for anything .
3 on leaving put key at reception.there was about 5 personnel at reception we said by .there was no response until we opened the front door, well it's MANERS to say by or better still ask how out stay was.
4 a female bar assistant served me with a short measure ,Ipointed out that the liquid must be to the top of the measure .she was not too happy at the pul up....lack of training ??

Lovely occasion

On arriving we were offer to pay for an upgrade to the honeymoon suite,it was fabulous,it had a sauna,tv spa bath and it was set over 3 floors,dinner on the evening was very nice,the only thing that let this visit down was breakfast,we waited 30 minutes before our order was taken and tea was served,breakfast arrived 15 minutes later,only to discover that half had been deep fried ,poached egg was dry.I had ordered brown bread toast but they only had white left and it was so cold and hard that we left that too.Such a shame as it would have been best stay in a hotel but it’s breakfast is the last thing we are remembering get that right and we will be back to stay in the suite again on a special occasion .

Dream place for an anniversary

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff took care of every request. The food and drink were top notch. It was affordable. Staying in a castle for our 30th wedding anniversary was a dream. Beautiful place. I cannot recommend it higher.

I've stayed in this hotel previously and enjoyed it. Food is good. This time I was allocated a bedroom over the kitchen - horrendous. You'd get a quieter time in the middle of Glasgow. Not worth the risk next time round!

The most disappointing hotel stay of our lives. Refurbished room, with a view of the kitchen ventilation. Couldn’t open the window because of the odour.
Ignored in the dining room for over an hour, then made to feel that it was our fault. Insulted by the unkempt “assistant manager”, who shouldn’t have been allowed anywhere near food.
Deplorable. If there are negative stars to be awarded, this place deserves them all.

Assigned to Room 3 which had traditional oak furniture and wonderful views over the river to nearby hills. After several hours we noticed the TV was stuck on Channel 5, when we reported to front desk we were immediately upgraded to the very attractive contemporary Inverary Suite! Word of caution - west-facing rooms will hear music if any functions are taking place. Wonderful Scottish breakfast with a good range of fresh fruit, breads and pastries on offer.

Fantastic stay, staff were lovely, especially Maggie and helpful, rooms gorgeous and the grounds and views wonderful. Super quiet and peaceful. They had an over active heating system when I stayed but even that didn’t spoil my stay.
