Minor issue: Tub drains extremely slow so you're standing in the water.
Minor issue: No window covering in the bathroom, top window has unobstructed view from outside.

Blue Gem motel was the perfect stay for us for our weekend event at Camp Kulaqua which was only a few minutes down the road. I was a lil hesitant since it was a “motel”. However the room was nicely decorated and spacious. The bed was a super comfy king bed. I travel a lot and was impressed with how comfortable I slept. The AC was nice and cold. The bathroom was on the smaller side but it did it’s job.
I loved that the car was right in front of our room which made loading and unloading super easy. They also have Adirondack chairs which was a nice touch. A couple doors down there was an ice machine and a water bottle filler.
The room had a mini fridge, small coffee maker and microwave. I was in need of a blower dryer and iron. The front office provided those without any issues. They actually gave me the option of iron or a nice steamer. Super nice front office staff. In the office they had a few complimentary snacks. And cold inexpensive drinks for $. If you’re looking for luxury or newer place to stay- this might not be it. But for us, it was perfect. We’ll be staying here in the future.

The way that the motel was redone was nice. We had a big room and a pretty comfortable king-sized bed. We didn't really use any amenities because we were there for about an hour before we had to leave, got back late and then left early the next day. The place felt clean and the grounds had activities for people with kids to do. It was pretty central to places to eat and hang out. We would stay there again.

It is a nice little hotel, convenient for what we needed, (a night to be able to rest, get up early the next day and leave). The stuff were very friendly and helpful. I would Not recommended it for a long stay nor for a family vacation. The area is not great, the hotel needs some upgrades, the carpets specially need to be changed. Also, you can’t get a hold of anyone after they close the lobby, you are kind of on your own after they leave.

The room was very odd, obviously it had more furniture at one time. The safety chain on door was broken (doesn’t instill a feel of security) the refrigerator was really noisy, knob handle missing from closet door. Really ugly and dirty carpet . The bed was comfortable but sheets kept slipping off because the fitted sheets weren’t large enough, mildew in tub, the tv was functioning , but no channels were available, everything required an account. It was pretty much a very unpleasant experience. The outside decor and office is deceiving.

If you’re diving at any local spring this is a great spot. Big rooms, hose out front, park right in front of your room, easy gear unloading…sink was a bit clogged but who really cares! Great stay, glad we choose it and we will definitely be back

This is the second time I have stayed here. Last year 2025 the room was in such great shape. Clean and very representable. This year I stayed in the same room and you can tell the difference and how maintained it was from last year to this year.
The biggest thing I just couldn’t believe how dirty the carpet was and it seemed it was not vacuumed at all.

The air conditioner ran great snd cool. There was sufficient parking and close to assigned lodges. Office staff was pleasant and check in process sinple and efficient. My husband and have visited this site twice now nad trult enjoyed ourselves no complaints or issues that have presented themselves. My husband drives tru ks for a luvingand is only home once a month. Loved this hotel! We had an emergency on the road, and we ended up here. Very pleasant room, very clean, large sized room,,comfortable king sized bed. Room had a mini fridge and coffee maker and microwave. Jose was manning the desk, and checked us in through hotels. com without incident. Highly recommend this nice motel!

Staff was nice enough, but was not told that on the other side of the do not disturb card was a request to have the clean the room request. In my 40 plus years of traveling, I’ve never seen this. It should be a requirement for staff to alert customers of this style of getting the room cleaned. So when I made this request, the room was cleaned, but they took all the hand soap and shampoo. For the off season, I paid over $800 for 4 days. That’s over $200 a day for a motel. Since I booked this in July, I didn’t think about it, but boy they saw me coming. Could have stayed in a nice hotel for much less. Would not recommend this location to anyone. Stay at a hotel.

I have a Federally Certified Service dog. I called ahead. I was refused at first until I explained ADA and Federal Law. Then they wanted to charge me a $15 fee. I again explained ADA. They complied but put me in a wheelchair accessible room with a tile floor. It didn't look like it had been cleaned. The floor was filthy. The microwave was broken. These people need to educate themselves on ADA.

This is a clean, quiet, very well maintained property, with large rooms, and comfortable, high quality beds. The large shaded outdoor sitting area is a bonus. The staff is courteous and always available. It's good to know individual owners are saving these better quality motor courts, and that this travel experience is being saved for the future. I highly recommend this property.

We stayed five nights and only got room service one of them. Not exactly a big deal but I missed my complimentary coffee in the morning, and clean towels would have been nice. Making our own beds wasn’t a huge problem. The wall HVAC unit made strange gurgling sounds sometimes but was functioning. Other than that it is an older property which has been more or less maintained in acceptable condition. We selected this place largely because of price and you get what you pay for. But the beds were so nice and the bathroom had bed redone and was so clean and sparkled I would definitely stay here again

A fantastic place to stay when going to watch the Gators play!! Beds are very comfortable. AC was good for the room size. Lots of space in the rooms. Definitely a steal for the money. A few things about our room: the “GFCI” outlet over the sink was labeled “no equipment ground” (?); cracked tiles on the bathroom floor; I couldn’t get the TV to tune in any of the channels; stained bedspread (eww). Also kind of pricey for what it was. We paid $150 per night in early November. However the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked: my two non-negotiables.

Overall I was glad to stay in the motel. A late football game @ UF necessitated a motel stay as driving home super late at night wouldn't have been fun or safe. The price of the room was fair. The motel property has been updated nicely. We had no issue getting into the room with the electronic key sent directly to my phone. We never had to go to the office/front desk to check in or out.

I am very impressed with the updates to this really old motel that was getting more & more run down over the last several decades. The main portion of the room was updated & clean. That being said the bathroom needs to be at the top of list for an immediate priority update. The shower & tub insert were certainly replaced but it doesn't appear anything else has been touched. Very old, grimy looking tile on the floors & walls, old sink, old toilet, old mirror, old tile mounted soap tray & tooth brush holder (ick-get rid of them all together), old window, messy paint job, old light, etc. The bathroom needs to get taken down to the studs & completely renovated. Due to the age of the bathroom nothing looked clean b/c how can a decades old room possibly get cleaned well enough to sparkle, especially given the property was previously owned & managed by different folks.
As I said above, overall the property & the main portion of the room were updated & clean & I was glad to stay at the BlueGem Motel.
