Photos provided by the property aren’t fair or accurate in reflecting the current state of the property. It is the integrity of the publicity of this place that I cannot withstand.

There are a few separate blocks within the property. I did not see any staff maintenance of the block I stayed at during my stay. Common area table space is always occupied by belongings of others residents.

Only 2 toilets with showers available to shared among 4 rooms with 2 pac min each from observation. There are no hooks or storage spaces for placing clothes for change. Essentially no space for placing the minimal items one would need for a shower (No shower gel or shampoo was provided).

Pros: good breakfast, easy check-in
Cons: very thin walls, neighbors were noisy quite late and it was hard to sleep at night. It was okay for one night, however would recommend staying elsewhere if spending more time in this area.

This guesthouse had everything we needed while travelling the ring road via Mývatn. The rooms were clean, but definitely not sound proof as other guests using the kitchen were easily heard through the door. The guesthouse was close to the Myvatn nature baths as well as lake Myvatn.

Can’t beat the location when it comes to accessing all the incredible naturalistic beauty in the area. Easy check-in and good place to rest for two nights. A bit noisy with the thin walls, but thats what you come to expect when staying at guesthouses. Worth it for the price!

Wonderful staff left us a notes with detailed instructions for our late check-in. Thank you! It’s nice to know they’re offering laundry service, even we didn’t have a chance to do it. Very clean room; like the” shoes off” idea. One bathroom door has very loud scratches sounds when open and close it. Will recommend it for it’s location too😊

Cute place, very well situated. But take earplugs. Quiet hours are until 7am but the hotel was crashing about making breakfast from 6am so we couldn't sleep any further. About what you'd expect for a hostel type experience

We stayed at Eldá Guesthouse for four nights, and found it to be a perfect home base for exploring the Myvatn area. Conveniently close to grocery shopping, which made it easy to prepare our meals in the kitchen. All the staff , including reception, kitchen and cleaning, were wonderful. Just not used to a hostel environment. There was never a shortage of shared facilities, but we are used to having our own bathroom, etc.

Clean, Good room, and kitchen. Wonderful breakfast in the morning. Note the hot water is geothermal and smells highly of sulfur (though this is likely the case everywhere in the region, just giving a heads up). Other than the cold shower we took, everything else was great!

Amazing location. There are so many natural wonders within a very short driving distance from the guesthouse. But the property is pretty dated. There is very little beyond spartan level facilities. One really really big plus for the guesthouse is the breakfast. The staff is also very accommodating.

I have stayed before. All fine with check in and my room as before, but the people coming into room 8 next door came late and loud, completely ignoring signs not to use the kitchen after 10pm. Very inconsiderate, woke me up for a long time, crashing about with pans and cutlery. Please Elda make the signs bigger and in different languages as they were German.

No hot springs.

The lure of a hot springs on the property to soak in was the main reason we chose this place over other locations. There is NO HOT SPRINGS.
Laundry facilities also advertised. They will do your laundry for you, but you cannot do it yourself. It will cost 2000 ISK.
No complaints about anything else.
Breakfast add on will be 2000 ISK.
It was a good breakfast overall.

Enjoyed my stay here. Easy check in. Room was basic but fine with sink. Bed was comfortable. Showers and toilets always available and clean. Despite moving the bed away from the window to avoid the radiator handle, I moved in the night and still hit it.

Breakfast with Marta was absolutely fantastic..best food of our entire trip! We were able to see the Northern Lights out our window..we had difficulty checking in! Property was difficult to enter..We were too early and door ways were full of ice!

The Elda Guesthouse was nice - not fancy, but clean and comfortable. We chose it for the location as it was in the area we planned to visit the next day. Checking in was easy as was checking out. Bathroom was clean and the beds had pretty duvet covers. Excellent breakfast in the morning! Would recommend if you’re traveling on a budget.

Very functional room with sink in the room. Easy check-in process (they accommodated my late check-in without any issue). Staff was really nice, offered to answer any questions; offered me clean towels after my first night. Common kitchen with access to new large fridge to store food, and everything to cook a meal. Very convenient location, 3-min walking distance to supermarket, visitor center, activity center and hiking routes. The walls are thin so you can hear people in the corridor but I was so tired from hiking that I fell asleep immediately and slept very well. Ate breakfast on the little picnic table in the garden, and dried my bathing suit towel on the drying racks outside. Not the most charming building but overall very happy with my stay.

worst experience of our entire trip

This was by far the worst experience of our extended trip. The beds were uncomfortable. The shower was moldy. The building was extremely loud with paper thin walls. There were kitchens and bathrooms at both ends, so there was no break in the noise. It was noisy until 1100pm and started again with the pounding of footsteps and slamming doors at 0616am. No good restaurants close to speak of. Front desk was of limited help and availability. We didn’t even wait for breakfast in the morning. I wish we would have pushed on a little farther and stayed in Húsavík for two nights instead of one.

Check in staff not on property. Expedia stated check in was at 1500 and when we arrived at the Guesthouse it stated that checkin wasn’t until 1700 and they wouldn’t be there until then. WiFi was only near the check in desk and no where to sit to use it. Breakfast was adequate.

Plumbing noise - annoying and disturbing

Our room was next to kitchen and somehow there was a plumbing link between the sink in our room and the sink and dishwasher in the kitchen. Every time someone used sink or dishwasher in the kitchen, it made a lot of noise in our sink plumbing and faucet. It was very annoying most of the the evening and into late night. Had a very hard time sleeping.

Ok for a one night cheap stay

More of a hostel than a hotel. Room was ok but bathroom was pretty awful. Rusty, broken, small. Also, really close to the geotgermal springs and water comes from there so it smells super strong of rotten eggs. Hard to brush your teeth or shower when the smell of the water makes you sick to your stomach.... overall decent if you are paying $50-75 but if you pay more than that its unreasonable for the state of the accommodations.

Rooms are great. Having a sink in everything is very helpful. The house I stayed at had two showers/bathrooms so there was never a shortage. The hotel itself is less than 5 minutes drive from most of the famous Myvatn attractions which made it a very comfortable starting point for day trips
