This Hotel was amazing.

On arrival the check in staff was lovely and polite, the rooms looked a bit tired and small but the view was fantastic.

The bar was well stocked with great service.

The restaurant was brilliant, good menu and amazing food.

Breakfast was equally as good.
Great selection and great service.

Staff were nice but apart from that….hotel room old, beds were really awful broken springs. Large brown stains on the carpet. Furniture dated and stained. Shower room was TINY!!! The shower head was utterly disgusting. Room overall was just awful. Down stairs was ok. We played games that looked and smelled like they were 30 years old. Half the dominoes were missing….the scrabble bag stunk the board itself was bar ly together. Why have these if they just don’t bother keeping them nice? Receptionist was friendly but the staff were all chatting about how crap it was! It was a bitterly disappointing stay and I would not stay again. For £150 PER NIGHT it is not worth it AT ALL!!!

This hotel needs a complete refurb. The room had old chipped furniture, stained carpet, cracked ceiling & scuffed paintwork. The mattress was lumpy. A latte coffee was £5 came cold, in small glass , two sips & it was gone. Bar area very tired, ripped seating. There's a musty smell of neglect mixed with a sweeter detergent smell, quite unpleasant. We, unfortunately, paid £200 for a night stay expecting a stay worthy of that amount. I would have been disappointed paying half that amount. Its very overpriced. That all said its in a good location, a few 100 yards from Morar railway station. About 2 miles from Mallaig & just over a mile from the silver sands of Morar. The dining room has lovely views over the loch. I paid extra for the view & it was our room's saving grace. The bed linen was clean as were the towels & the bathroom. Although outdated with a curved shower, it had good pressure & was hot. I prefer a shower rather than a bath with shower over & this had a shower only. Much better. The food was ok as was the breakfast, which was a buffet style. The fried egg was more hard boiled as it had been standing a while under the hot plate. This hotel could be fabulous but it needs a lot spent on it. Its years & years of neglect isn't the current management's fault but their description of the property is not fair.

Single room looked out on to an air conditioning unit outside on the roof and into a house on other side of road. Kept curtains shut as nothing to look at. Watermarks in the ceiling. Shower riser fell on me in the shower. Staff unengaging in conversation. No pleasantries. No welcome. Female solo traveller and engaging, friendly customer service is everything when you visit a hotel. On check out no one answered the bell on the desk. I had to find a waiter and let them know I left my key on the desk. Disinterested in conversation and only said ok.

Great location as a jumping off point for Skye. The food was very, very good. And the views from the dining area were lovely. I did appreciate that the hotel took measures to be energy efficient. This is very important in today’s world. However, I did not like the light in the bathroom turning off when I was in the middle of a shower. I take rather hasty showers so imagine my shock when I’m left in the dark and waving my arms to no avail. You have to exit the shower to trigger the lights. Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Maybe adjust those light settings a little bit.

Charming hotel, very old, but not same standard as
London or Edinburgh. Diner at the Restaurant is really good. We chose this hotel because it was near of the ferry for Isle of Skye… unfortunately the ferry was not in service (engine issue)… so 2 hour and a half road trip to get to Quiraing instead… so make sure ferry is in operation if you want to stay in this hotel to get to Isle of Skye

My room was basic and small but priced accordingly for the area. Totally comfortable with a single bed and its own bathroom with shower stall. No elevator which didn’t bother me. Parking in site fills up to capacity every night. Great location to explore the region or use the ferry to get to Skye. Manager was very responsive and accommodating. Good dining room and menu. Would stay again especially again.

When every thing was booked up we ended up staying at Morar Hotel for three nights instead of one. We had to do some room switching here and there as each night was booked separately due to our situation and they were most helpful in the process. It is a bit of a budget place but the location is lovely and the views amazing. The staff were great and the food was good in the restaurant. On the last night my room was a little unclean (crumbs on the floor and desk shelf) but I was tired and it really made no big difference to me, again the view was there! Overall I would recommend a stay here as there are not a ton of options in the area and things book up far in advance.

Location is beautiful, food was very good both breakfast and dinner. Weird spacing in the bathroom...could barely maneuver on the toilet as the shower is so close. The floors are old and creaky as was the bed springs mattress...very bouncy...boing boing boing. Core staff is from Sri Lanka and very much wanting to serve and please. But overall we had a lovely quiet stay.

One night stay to put me in the right position for onward travel, perfect for that being so conveniently located opposite the train station.

Had an early start so didn't have breakfast, but did enjoy a nice evening meal of steak pie and chips, with a great view from the restaurant.

Struggled a bit to get my room at the right temperature and didn't sleep brilliantly, but I don't think that was the fault of the hotel, rather my travel plans meant a 6am train and I was focussed too much on when I needed to get up.

Pleasant and helpful staff on reception and in the restaurant.

I shall certainly be coming back to spend a bit longer and explore the beach and some of the other villages along the railway line.

My family live in Morar but had a full house so I picked this place. 20 mins walk from their home. It was very very basic. I was gone most of the day so I didn’t get to check if there were other amenities. But no coffee or tea maker. Room was small. Bed not bad, I slept quite well but I was very tired. Twin bed size much too small. Someone had soiled the duvet cover. Management handled that quickly. View from my window spectacular

View of the carpark and not the views.
Bedrooms and Bar tired looking and need upgraded.
Showerhead unstable.
Shower did not get hot until I ran the tap.
Very loud noise from next room key when being used (late night and early morning).
One of the wall lights continually flickered.

I can imagine that the hotel was amazing when it was first built but it is very run down now and in need of an upgrade. The website mentions gardens, but there were no gardens, there is a decking area only.

The staff were lovely, attentive and very professional, it's just the hotel and value for money that lets it down.

It was fantastic that you can literally get off the Scot rail train at Morar and walk 50m to the door of the hotel! Which was especially amazing given it was pouring rain when we arrived. It was a lovely little place, friendly helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant. Restaurant food was fabulous, and we saw an amazing sunset through the clouds as our meal ended and the rain stopped. Excellent and memorable stay. Many thanks to the reception desk employee, young lady, who helped us figure out how to get to the ferry by local bus the next morning in time, as the local taxi service was already booked up!

Check in was at 3pm, I did there 30 mins early bit no one around so got a drink eventually at the bar and waited. Checked in at 3pm and room wasnt ready, so had to wait another 30mins.
Hotel is a bit dated, room wasn't clean, yet had to pay an extra £20 for my dog, which I presume goes towards the cleaning. I didnt complain as I had been travelling since 3am and had already been told the hotel was fully booked with a coach party, and when i went back down there were queues at reception.
When i checked in I booked a table in the bar for food. Went down, took a table and then was ignored a few times before I eventually asked if I could order some food, they saod they would be back in a minute and then disappeared. I ended up leaving and driving into the port to eat there.
The only plus point with this hotel is the view from my room (not all rooms have a sea view).

Lovely small, older hotel. Clean and comfortable, very welcoming staff with surprisingly good restaurant. The only downside is the rather bizarre location. The hotel snd adjacent train whistle stop are about all there is to the tony hamlet of Morar. The options for getting to the larger village of Mallaig (2.75 miles away) are quite limited if you don’t have your own car. You can wait for the twice a day train, take your chances with the intermittently available single car for hire, or hoof it.

Clean hotel with a very lovely front desk lady. If you dining in the dining room, get the Salmon, you won’t regret it. This hotel has lots of stairs and no lifts so be aware. This hotel is quite pricy but due to it’s location it matches others in this area.

I stayed at this hotel alone with my dog.
Dogs are welcome throughout the hotel. I was able to take him with me to dinner and breakfast, he was allowed in the bar, and there was a special area for guests with dogs next to the restaurant.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and well-maintained.
The view of the sea from the window was wonderful. The area is peaceful.
I would definitely stay there again.

Do not waste your time or money!!!!This was our family dream vacation to Scotland and up until our visit to the Morar Hotel we were having a great time. We had booked months in advance and the accommodations were not cheap. So you could imagine our disappointment when we walked into our Hostel like condition of a room with the view of an brick wall. The hotel should have had a disclaimer and definitely should have been discounting this room. (To be honest I would even offer a room like this)The phone didn't work, water pressure was awful, beds sucks and it wasn't very clean. We asked to be moved to another room and they could accommodate us so we asked to have the stay cancelled. The on duty manager who couldn't speak English had to call another manager for me to talk with. That manager said he would only refund us the second night, which was a joke to begin with. After securing a new hotel 3+hours away we left only to return to Canada and to receive an email telling us they won't be refunding us our money. This was quite a shock to us and it really tells you a lot about he management of this hotel/Hotel chain. They could care less about their clients, they used false advertisement to secure our stay and they didn't honor the commitment or their word to us on the refund. The only pleasant part was dealing with the lady at the front desk, who's hands were tied. Thanks for a terrible experience Morar management team and for not honoring you word.

Nothing about our stay, other than the receptionist at the front desk was good. The hotel is in need of an overhaul. They are doing some painting on the outside of the building which meant scaffolding on the outside and in front of our ocean view window - which had plastic draped across it so that we could not see the view even-though we had paid extra for the view.

If I could rate just staff and setting, it would be 6/5! Akram and Tuan were the pillars of hospitality and so kind. The setting and view of the hotel (the deck!) was unbelievable, as were the nearby Silver Sands.

That said, I echo others in saying the price does not match the quality of the rooms. This hotel really is in need of renovation. The downstairs common area and dining room are lovely, so hopefully the rooms can eventually meet this standard.

I’m really rooting for the Morar Hotel - I had a lovely stay despite, and hope future renovations will bring the rooms up to snuff.

The service was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I was out to work early each day before breakfast and the staff/chef made me a substantial packed meal to take with me each day.
