We had received driving directions to the place, but no check-in instructions that were supposed to come in a separate email. We received an email at 11:17 that day saying their power was out...no follow-up email. We arrived anyways, and the place was deserted. Went around to all the doors, and the only unlocked was the kitchen. Trying to get refund, but have gotten no response. Had to book something else, last minute.

Cute place, could be lots of fun but neither the room heater or the water heater worked. We had to scrounge extra duvets from the unused bed to try to stay warm. And we couldn't shower because the water heater was in the blink.

Not good. Black mold around the ill fitting door. Stains on the walls but worst of all no hot water. Staying with children, one with a medical requirement that means she has to bathe twice daily, no running hot water was awful. She had to shower in freezing cold water. We knew this place was going to be basic but this was bad. Too late to find somewhere else to stay we were stuck witb it.
Along with no hot water. Building work began early in the morning with men in high viz working all around, great when you open the curtains to find them working outside the window.
Parking was also a pain.
All in all I would not recommend this place.

The picture on the website posted is not the real thing, and be aware of the room condition.
What I have booked online is not the room we sleep in.
No towels, sheets stink, floor dirty,pillows stinks, and the worse of it all is blood stain all over the comforter.
Be prepared not to sleep, all night banging,noise all over the property, people running and screaming. There is no feont desk and ni one ro rech out too in case of any issues.
Now it your choice

No towels provided on site and we were not aware of this until checkin. We were given a self check in code that was incorrect and were unable to get into our room. We booked the four person quadruple suite and when we checked in there were only three beds and a sofa with no extra linens or pillows. We called to discuss this issue and were told that we had booked a 3 person room despite my confirmation for the quadruple room. We were forced to pay an additional £20 for a bigger room.

The worse and dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed, had to stay here as my hotel dropped though and I had my dog with me

I’ve stayed in hostels when I was younger back packing but this place was disgusting

Mild all over the toilet walls in the main building, food all over the floor and cooking surfaces, mold in the fridges, fire extinguishers not in date and empty

The list just just goes on and on

I’ve taken plenty of pictures as I work in health and safety and will be reporting this place to the local Inverness HSE department

Room clean , bed dreadfully hard, room cold/ freezing to sit in , no heating on luckily there were bunk beds so used the quilt off one of them and the quilt on double bed . Was really cold though and couldn’t get anything dry. The bathroom door did not close or stay shut , so from the glass front door u could see right in to whoever was in the bathroom . Neighbours were very noisey so walks paper thin. Not impressed it was a roof over my head . Not the best stay I’ve ever had. I came from Applecross Bunkhouse hostel and it was warm and cosy this was not unfortunately . Staff were nice though .

It was well priced, room with on suite clean and comfortable beds
Communal kitchen had enough cooking facilities 2 ovens double set of hobs microwave 2 kettles 4slice and 2 slice toasters 3 large fridges plenty dishes cups and cutlery which you should clean your self before using.
also best to clean table top to your own standard they had 2 t/vs in dinning area which never worked neither did the one in my room I would give an overall rating of 7/10
if I was staying up at lochness again i would come back to them

We booked this over another option as it said towels were included... they are not.
Received a message on the morning of our stay sauing check out 10am - when I booked it said 10.30.

Outside Bathroom window is broken so it doesn't lock and the bathroom door doesnt close so no privacy from strangers or family, we couldnt leave anything in the room during the day as anyone could have come in very easily!

Windowsill and blind in the bathroom were filthy

Room is the most basic I've ever been in with the beds, a mirror and a set of drawers.

I messaged them x2 but have no reply.

This hostel needs seriously upgraded for comfort, safety, and enjoyment.
I would not recommend

Very pleasant stay.

Had a great overnight stay. Very clean and welcoming the mattress wasn't the greatest but still managed a good sleep. I never used the kitchen or dining area but it was very clean and if I was here for longer I wouldn't have an issue. Room 2 was cosy everything worked i.e. heating etc. Staff on site were very friendly and made me feel welcome.

The area behind the loo was disgusting, the floors left a lot to be desired.
The dining and cooking facility looked like it was once ok, but now needs a complete overhaul. One of the cupboard doors was hanging off? The cooker and backsplash were disgusting. The ay area has to be the most dangerous thing ive ever seen! A full size, old spade was left lay around along with wood and other building materiels! All around the grounds were littered with building materials on pallets or just lay around. The out door furniture had broken arms and rotten wood! Never again!

Think twice before booking

Quite disappointed by the booking. To start with as per booking towels were supposed to be provided but to our horror there were no amenities in the room. We stayed in Room 3
- the room heater was not working.
- the shower drain was clogged.
- the shower pipe was covered with mould and dirt
- the bed lamp was not working.

Luckily we took a towel which saved 3 of us.

The common area was clean and we spent much of our time there.

The kitchen was fully equipped but while cooking the smoke alarm used to get activated as the hood was not working and just because everyone was using it the bins were overflowing with rubbish.

After we left the hostel, we decided to book it again for one more night. When we arrived in the evening, the room hasn't been cleaned, even the trash has not been taken out. The beds were not made, sheets not washed. The room was left unlocked for the whole day, so we aren't even sure if nobody has been in there during the day.

There is no staff working here. No response to any of our phone calls or messages. The place was dirty with dead bugs on our bed and floor. It is very run down. The beds and bedding were awful. False advertising because the room we booked should have had a fridge, Microwave, TV and it didn't. We left after the first night and are still waiting for a refund for the remaining nights.

Amazing, until you have someone staying next door.

On our first night here we thought we'd stumbled into heaven. Cheap as chips, great sized room and bathroom, nice and quiet, lovely common area and amenities. On the second night we realised the room next to ours had been empty at first, as this time you could hear absolutely everything its occupants said and did (or screamed and thumped). Both our polite and less polite requests for quiet were declined, so we resorted to dragging our mattresses through to the bathroom and sleeping there instead. On the plus side, it's great that the bathroom can fit two mattresses in it.

The location is perfect, between the mountains and peaceful. 1.5 hour drive to Eilean Donan Castle and 2.5 hours drive to isle of Skye. Huge kitchen and ample space to dine. Rooms were good and clean. It’s a hostel so you expected to bring your own towels else you pay a pound for one towel.
There shd be mats in the bathroom.

We booked the BCC Loch Ness because we were working around the Inverness area so, location, other than it’s proximity to our venues wasn’t massively important. We booked because it was less than £100 for a two night weekend stay in July. It’s not a prime position but if you’re walking or passing through we imagine it would be fine. The rooms are pleasant, no issues with cleanliness or quality for the price. It is a hostel, so it’s communal living-many people coming and going at all different times-some friendlier than others but that didn’t bother us as we were there to sleep not to commune. One thing to note, the WiFi is included, it’s free and fast but only available in the main communal area not the rooms as was kind of implied when booking. Our room had a TV and freeview box-we noticed it had the wrong remote but didn’t try to change it for the reason below. We didn’t have a problem with parking but it did fill up quickly. The main and only issue we had was the service. It states you have to call before you arrive as reception isn’t always manned. Just be aware that you are ringing the number of Scotland’s worst receptionist and the rudest that we personally have EVER come across. If you are new to the BCC then forget it. We’re easy going and polite but after a while of being spoken to like idiots we finally pulled him up on his attitude and HE hung up! If you’re someone who worries about making phone calls, he’s your worst nightmare. He made us dread our arrival.

I liked the room, but it was a far walk from town. It would be nice if the property would post information such as a mile or 5 miles from town or another landmark. Then a person would have a better idea about how to get there or maybe book a room at another location. Towels are an additional charge and there was no wi-fi for some reason. Overall it was a nice, quiet property but just a bit far out.

We ended up at the hostel because we were looking at staying in the area of Inverness and it was the only place that wasn't booked. We usually stay in Hotels or B and Bs so I wasn't sure what to expect from a hostel. The caretaker of the place met us when we got here and showed us to our room. He was pleasant and helpful. The room itself was simple with 5 single beds. I found the mattresses to be a bit cheap and uncomfortable, but I'm 51. My 14 year old son seemed to find it pretty comfortable however. The rooms are clean and the shower was exceptional. The kitchen/ dining area is very nice and well organized. There seemed to be many other families staying here as well and the atmosphere is friendly and nice.

the hotel itself is located just of the A82 which was ideal as we were enroute to inverness. the kids enjoyed thier stay shower was the best eith lots of pressure. No food served so its important you have your own supply - we didnt 😜 but 6miles awaybthiere were some eateries and a small shop so dont despair!

They advertised breakfast available at a charge. But there was no food available. The ad also seems to imply that there is tea and coffee available but there was none....Just a kettle to heat water.
They don’t provide any soap in the bathrooms so don’t expect to wash your hands unless you walk to the kitchen building and use dish soap. We asked for soap and they said they had none to offer.
No towels for showers either.

Over all the place was good condition. Much nicer than other hostels but it’s important to know that it provides the BARE bones basics.
No luxuries.

The best part about the stay was was the lovely young lady from Glasgow who checked us in. She was very pleasant to deal with.

We had a nice stay at this hostel, the room was clean and big enough for the four of us. The beds were uncomfortable though and the oven in the main kitchen was dodgy but all in all it was a nice place to sleep. Douglas was a great host and helped us with the stove and anything else we needed. He told us the stove was being replaced so that is good news but I really think they should invest in some new beds. Douglas also entertained us with some great stories so we did have a great time there.

It is in the middle of nowhere, looking like a construction site. Suitable for East European lorry drivers for one or two nights' stay but definitely not a family friendly place. A dirty run down play area beside the kitchen/dining does not mean it is for family with young kids.

Nearest place to find food is 20 minute's drive. It is advisable to buy your own food with you before arriving. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of space in the fridges.

We liked the common dining/living room. The free wifi was only available in that area.

Beds were cozy. The bins in the room and bathroom were full when we got our room.

This place is a bit hard to find. Once we got there, they didn't seem to know of our booking but checked us in anyways. The internet was not working, which put us out a bit. You need to bring all linens, pillows, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and dish rags. The owner had a group of men who stay there yeast round. They think they own the place and that it is their home. One of the men snatched a frying pan from my hand and said it was his. I got it from pan cabinet. They do not like to share equipment and space and were very rude.

worst nightmare

hotel.com gave me wrong information about this hostel and was supposed to with continental breakfast but there was only bread butter jam? having a laugh please train your staff well or start being honest wishes take our money

Unpleasant experience

The wc unit was really dirty. There were no towels and when I asked for some, I was given old and dirty ones. The TV didn't work in the room. The WiFi didn't reach our bedroom and the breakfast which I paid for, I was lucky for having only a few toasts, people finished with jam and butter and there was anybody from staff taking care of customers. My son couldn't eat breakfast because the milk was run out. Mugs and glasses dirty on the shelves. On the other hand, when I paid by cash and I asked for a receipt I was given a piece of paper written with a red marker with my name on it. Very unprofessional. Really unpleasant experience.

Can't believe how cheap it was

Based on the price we were not expecting the amazing accommodation we received. Beautiful isolated relaxing log cabin. 2 bedrooms with a loungeroom and everything you could ask for including a washing machine and a luxury shower.
