We stayed there for one night, getting to the property was so easy. The one lady at the reception was friendly, no paperwork, she gave us the keys and we went to our room. The property is close to Daegu station, you can hear the sound of trains passing by. I highly recommend this property.

What a horrible hotel. First of all, the bathroom has so much mold. Secondly, I asked the receipt for a wake-up call and he responded, \"That's what your phone is for \". I insisted on a wake-up call because my phone alarm doesn't always sound, and he said he would, but that wake-up call never came.

The rooms are large and have character. Generally clean but dilapidated. Location is ok but not much to do I walking distance - you need to walk through the whole subway station which is not pleasant late at night. Some sketchy characters hang around the entrance. Fine for a short stay.

My stay was not great. I am not a maniac when it comes to cleanliness but the cleanliness was way below what expected from a hotel: the food menu in the room was sticky, some plates in the kitchen were stained and the kettle pot was dusty.

For this quality of service and price, I would have better stayed in a guesthouse.

Reception staff very helpful and pleasant. The beds were hard (common in Korea) but the rooms were spacious, and the decor was completely different in each of the three rooms I happened to see. Location was excellent, right near the station, and with a taxi rank very close by.

All the essentials and conveniently by the train

the room has everything you need, a comfy bed, a remote control that does lights, tv, and AC, big bottles of shampoo, rinse and body soap, even ammenities like hair gel, and a hair band. If you need a PC they even have that too. It's very conveniently located by the Daegu train station. if coming for a short stay this is not a bad deal.

It was a 25f degree Friday night. The hotel is literally up the steps from the Daegu Station. The exterior looked good. Check in was easy. Showed ID and pointed to my name on a piece of paper. The room was cozy but had some inperfections. I stayed on the side opposite the train tracks. I didnt notice any noise from the trains. 2pm check out was neat too. Proximity to the Daegu Station made it easy to travel the city. Affordable stay from the person who does NOT like hostels.

First stay in a Korean Hotel

I am a Westerner but have lived in Korea previously.
What I learnt rather quickly and what you need to understand is that you need to be open minded. The logic among other things is different, perhaps even totally opposite to what you are used to, but it still works.
It is a nice, clean place to stay in a very convenient location.
Television with wide range of channels.
Computer to surf the web if you like.
Neat, tidy, and really good price !

Overall the room was good and the staff was accommodating. I was annoyed because I reserved a room with a double bed but was given a room with two smaller beds. Which was no ideal on a couple's vacation. But otherwise, the room was about what you'd expect for an average love motel here in Korea.

Out of the name \"Goodstay New Grand Hotel,\" at least two of the words are accurate, in that it is a hotel and one can stay there. It is neither new nor grand, though the facade is currently under construction (the drilling stopped, as promised, by 4 pm). My room smelled of cigarette smoke and despair. Basic things worked: hot water, AC, etc. My \"city view\" was of the wall of the next building. My mattress was softer than a park bench, slightly. The location is more or less handy, in that it's right next to a subway station. There was a weird red light in the room that I suppose was an attempt at a love motel vibe, though I think this would be the sort of love motel you would want to use if you wanted your partner to know that your main feelings about the affair were shame, ambivalence, and penury.

Convenient but hard to find

The place is hard to find - even for taxi drivers. The first taxi I hailed turned me down b/c the driver, after trying for a few minutes, couldn't figure out where the hotel was. Neither could the second drive - but I just asked him to take me to the Daegu station and I walked around for a several minutes (it's hidden behind the metro station, exit 3 I think). But the location is very convenient for metro access and easy walk to a busy neighborhood. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily when I here so can't say much about the area.
The room was clean, probably needs a thorough, deep cleaning but it was fine. I think given the location and the cost, I would probably stay here again.

Convenient location but some homeless nearby

Very good location. Exit three of Daegu station puts you right at the hotel entrance. Unfortunately it is also a spot where homeless people congregate. Not dangerous but I would feel uncomfortable if I was a single woman.

The hotel is an old love motel and the interior reflects that. The room felt relatively clean but there was a musty smell.

Very convenient 24-hour check in and 2 p.m. check-out. I might stay here again just for that perk.

Two of my friends and I stayed here for 2 nights. Great location close to the station and very easy to find. We had a double and a single bed and it was a great size for 3 people. The room was really clean! The only issue is that it is right next to the train station, so if the window is open you can really hear the trains. If you close the shutters on the window you can't hear a thing. I would stay here again!!!

Affordable, convenient, friendly!

We came with 3 people and were able to get a nice sized room with one double bed and one single. It was perfect for what we needed and the staff lady was very helpful! She didn't speak much English, but our basic Korean worked fine. It included free bottled water and a water dispenser in our room. The location was right outside exit 3 of Daegu Station, but the area was a little dark and shady to get to. However, it was just one or two stops away from lots of restaurants and shopping and there were plenty of convenience stores in the area. Could be a little cleaner in the bathroom, but not bad. We had a comfortable stay and would stay again for this price!

Very good bargain for a low price

Hotel is right beside the Daegu station, very convenient for us since we took the ITX from Seoul. Hotel looks old from outside but room was very clean. Room was also very spacious to our surprise and was equipped with a very large LCD screen tv, pc with LCD monitor, toiletries including toothpaste. Bottled mineral water is free of charge at the reception. There's also a coffee machine n free breakfast. The receptionist is an auntie and speaks very little English but was very helpful. Overall, we will recommend this hotel!

Hotel rooms are small but clean, we had just managed to put our suit cases on chairs. Noisy when trains passed by, because hotel is just next to subway station. Lots of restaurants around, with a big Lotte departments store steps away. Hotel close to pedestrians only specialty (I believe jewelry) street, with lots of people all the time. But hotel is quite far away from train and inter-city bus terminals. Hotel location is very hard to find, even taxi drivers needed assistant to find hotel. In general, a ok stay.

It is a \"Love Motel\"

This hotel is what is known as a \"love motel\" in the local language. It is NOT recommended if you will be staying with family!

It is very convenient if you want something near public transportation (it is right mext to the subway / metro stop for Daegu Station), but do mot expect cab drivers to know where it is.

This is my third stay in this hotel and it won't be the last. The hotel is great and the location (next door to the Daegu train station/downtown) is perfect. The rooms are cozy with free wifi, free water, and free laundry service. The staff doesn't speak English but just use Google translate or show them a picture of what you want and you will be fine. Iinexpensive & close to a major train/subway hub

I never needed anything so I did not interact with hotel staff other than to pick up my key the first day, but I don't think they speak any English.

Room space was good, but there is no closet and no dresser drawers...prepare to keep everything in your suitcase.

The shower functioned fine, but there's no curtain so the floor will get wet, which is ok because it's actually meant to.

While not extremely dirty overall, the shower did have some mold on tile grout and I found hair from the last guest here and there including one sizable hair ball in the tub.

The mattress was quite stiff according to my western bones, but I was actually able to sleep soundly enough.

This property is kind of hidden almost in a back alley, but it doesn't feel dangerous to walk to and from the property at night. It's lit well enough and Korea is basically safe enough that I wasn't concerned.

The super close proximity to the Daegu Korail and subway station was the best part of this property.

Lovely staff, convenient location, very hard bed.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. The room was fairly large by Korean standards (bigger than the one we had been staying in for nearly 3 months in one of Daegu's claimed 5 star hotels). The floor was a bit dusty and really needed to be washed rather than just swept but other than that the room was clean. There were no wardrobes for hanging clothes, only a couple of hooks on the wall. The room has a small refrigerator & dispenser for both hot and cold water. During the day, with the window open, (our 7th floor room overlooked the tracks next to Daegu Station) the passing trains did get a bit noisy but closing the windows and internal shutters attenuated that sound fairly well. At night, with the windows and shutters closed, the train noise did not keep us awake. The bed and the small couch, were very hard (a bit too hard for us Westerners). The room has its own remotely controlled air-conditioner. The large flat screen TV has hundreds of channels to choose from - (mostly in Korean though). The bathroom came with a large shower rose over a bath & a basic bidet in the toilet. Like many Korean bathrooms, there is no shower curtain so water splashes over the floor when having a shower. It appears the bath was added recently and the drain for the bath/shower terminates at the side of the bath, so water floods over part of the floor when having a shower or emptying the bath. The staff were courteous & very helpful but spoke no (or very little) English.

Great base for a fun weekend!

The staff are very friendly (not sure whether they could speak english or not as we used Korean). I booked a room for 3 adults. The room had one single bed and one double. Nice bathroom with an awesome shower and a tub! There is a water filtration system and a flat screen tv, also a mini fridge. The room was clean.

Trains do go by, so the early to bed crowd might be a bit annoyed...we stayed out most of the night and then passed out, so didn't even notice it. The hotel is just outside exit 4 of daegu yok on the daegu metro line. It was very convenient because the main food, shopping, and nightlife area is within a couple stops (we even walked).

If you're not incredibly fussy, then I think this hotel is great.

Great location, Average hotel.

The biggest advantage of this hotel, is also it's biggest issue; location. This hotel is located right next to Daegu station in Daegu (not Dongdaegu station where KTX will run). The room was very nice, pretty clean, well maintained and equipped. I have stayed in numerous korean hotel during my time in Korea. There was really only one oddity, which was the shower/tub combo drain was open onto the bathroom floor instead of directly to a drain, this mainly means that your floor will be very wet after a shower. **Significant advantage: I am a little over 6' tall. I could fit under the primary shower head in the shower, with room to spare.** Blackout shutters worked very well. TV was easy to use, as well as the computer. I only barely noticed the trains which was mentioned in other posts. I was on the top (7th) floor, which may have been an advantage.

Our cabdriver could not find it, but a very kind young woman at Tour Information booth took us to it. Actually, hotel was close to subway stop but somewhat disguised. Reception was on second floor, and lady there could not speak any English, but had our reservation and we were given key to room. We had requested room away from railroad noise, and were given one, right up against neighboring hospital-still heard trains go by all night. Room has no drawers, closet, or wardrobe, so no place to keep clothes. Shower had no curtain or door and so sprayed all over bathroom. One evening, on returning to room, found women's pictures lined up by elevator - take your pick, I guess, and give them a call to your room. Would not recommend.

All right for emergency

Was overall quite unhappy with hotel. Taxi driver had difficult time finding as is rather hidden behind railroad station. Reception, if you can call it that, was on second floor, and NO one spoke a word of English. Had asked for room away from rail tracks, and got one, but room butted right up against neighboring hospital, and still heard trains all through the night, Shower went all over room with no curtain, There was no place to store clothes or even a stand to put luggage. I would not stay there again, and don't understand why anyone would give favorable review. Clearly made for one night stands with whomever. Wife and I came back from dinner to find women's pictures lined up by elevator.

Good location for short trips.

The hotel is tucked behind the train station just on the northern edge of the city centre, so the location is very convenient for rail travellers. The entrance is a little hard to find, but is a stone's throw from exit 4 of the subway station (sa-bon chilgu), but you have to double back on yourself at the top of the stairs, go through archways in the wall ahead of you, and then turn left.

The hotel was pretty much what I expected - a fairly shabby building, gruff but functional reception service, and no questions asked on checking in. The room was comfortable, although a little warm, with a big TV, and a free bottle of water. The bathroom had both a shower and a tub, although there were some chipped tiles, and I didn't see a bathmat (so be aware of slippery floors)

At first the room appeared very clean, although on further inspection there was only one (used) hand towel present. This was reported to reception and there were new towels when I returned later that day. I didn't notice any noise from the neighbouring railway line.

On the plus side, the bed was clean and relatively comfortable, the hotel was in an excellent location for the subway and long distance rail, shopping, nightlife, restaurants and sightseeing. On the downside, my room overlooked the railway station and was thus noisy from about 4am onwards. Communication with staff in English was difficult. The office was hard to find (It's on the 2nd floor of a multi-storey building, with no indication of this given at the entrace to the hotel. I was initially placed in a smoking room despite a request for a non-smoking one, however, staff were happy to change this.

Convenient to city centre

Somewhat difficult to find even when name of hotel was given in Korean to taxi driver. Make sure they do not think it is the grand hotel. It has lots of nice facilities in the room - large TV, DVDs, toilet facilities, large bed (no matress on the floor!), clean. Asked for no smoking room but this did not work as there was a smoke smell and ashtray in the room. Managed to make myself understood to get taxi at 4.30 in the morning to go to airport. Staff really keen to help, up at 4.00 in the morning to make sure it all worked out. So full marks for that. Very convenient for city centre and next to Daegu station, though it is Dondaegu station that is most used for KTX (fast) trains and that is a distance away.

Decent for the price

I didn't take the train to the hotel so not sure if it's easier to find through the train station but my taxi had a hard time finding the place. The hotel was connected to a hospital right next to the daegue train station. I heard the trains passing by at night but it wasn't too bad with the windows closed. The room itself was decent but the place smelled of cigarettes.

Hotel located by train tracks / run down area

We were very disappointed by hotel the area near the Daegu stations is one a the only areas that felt a bit unsafe in our travel in Korea

Good value for money

We stayed one night, the hotel was rather easy to find as the location is right next to train station. The neighborhood was a bit rugged but safe, and it was a walking distance away from the city center and the busiest streets (restaurants and shopping). Also right next to Lotte department store. The staff was helpful, though everyone did not speak english. We had some problems with the wifi, but the staff fixed it right away. Room was clean and good size. Not high strandard hotel, but good value for money.

Close to station and good condition rooms

I thought the rooms were in good shape and very clean. Have stayed there twice now and would again. It's close to the Daegu station so it is convienient. Also not far from down town and good hangouts, within walking distance.

Located close to Daegu station, very convenient, The surrounding area not so nice but close to shopping and business districts. The owners were very kind and helpful although English level was low. Large well equipped rooms. I could live here.

Not a place for families.

This hotel is not designed for lengthy stays & is not suitable for families. No wardrobe, no proper towels & other \"accoutrements\" would indicate it's designed for bookings by the hour!

location is very good,

located right next to the subway, decoration in he room is not pleasant..overall the toilet is quite old, entrance to the hotel is dirty and old. room is ok, bed is clean.

like a motel quality but not bad

the front desk was not able to speak English. The location was nearby Daegu Station and Lotter department Store. The entrance was kind of tricky to find as a foreigner. The interior was not bad as a motel.

Very close to subway and train station

It is right beside the Daegu station. You can take exit 3 and walk along the path in the small park on the right then turn left. It is the building right beside the wall. There should be two big signs staying New Grand Hotel to indicate where it is. Even though it is a non-smoking room, we can still smell the smoke which was not so pleasant. We didn't really communicate with the front desk because they did not know much english at all. We just basically picked up the key and left the key there when we checked out. The room was fairly big so we had space to put our luggage and move around. However the shower did not have any water pressure at all. When I turn up the hot water, it only trickles so it was not comfortable at all. I traveled with another friend and we stayed there for two nights.

Location behind train station off the main roads but not unsafe, Clean, quiet, confortable hotel,no extras. Very short walk from subway exit and train station. Other subway exits lead to shopping and food,
