I stay at the Hewing about once a week, and usually love it, and even prefer it over the four seasons, but lately things seem to be going sideways.

Though I usually get a room in the same area on the 3rd floor, they gave me a room on the 2nd floor that was super far away from the elevator and really hard to find.

The hostess at Tulibee was incredibly rude. The restaurant wasn’t close to full for breakfast, but she acted as if it was an inconvenience to seat me because I didn’t have a reservation, which I have never had to have before.

The sauna didn’t have any towels or water in the morning, and the dirty towels from the night before were sitting in the hallway in a huge garbage bag. The cold water bucket was not attached for use after the sauna despite it being almost 80 degrees that day. This is my third recent stay where the sauna area was not well tended to. The last time I was there, it wasn’t even turned on in the morning, and the hot tub was closed for repairs with no signs or notice indicating it was closed.

I have stayed here as a place of serenity during a very stressful divorce process, and the last few visits have been disappointing, and less peaceful. I really hope that things get dialed back in soon!

I discovered this place almost by accident a few years ago when I needed to travel to the Minneapolis area on business. Right away, I knew I'd found my Minneapolis Hotel. It has character, it is well run, and the staff are wonderful. I give especially high marks to the on-site restaurant, which is delightful enough to warrant a visit even if you aren't staying at the hotel. I think it's a winner.

The staff was very friendly, cool vibe, rooftop views are amazing. However, in the evening, the entire hotel basically turns into an huge party. There were used towels and trash all around the hot tub and the elevator had blood in it and a trail of blood that was ignored by the staff. For the price, I’d expect this to be cleaned immediately. Very disappointing and unsanitary.

Our stay at the Hewing Hotel was absolutely beautiful. The hotel perfectly blends historic character with refined modern design, creating a warm and elevated atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The rooftop space is a true highlight, offering stunning skyline views and a relaxing escape that made the weekend feel extra special ✨

The only small drawback was that the hot tub was not as warm as expected, which would have made the rooftop experience even more enjoyable on a cool spring evening.

Overall, a memorable and luxurious stay. We would gladly return and highly recommend the Hewing Hotel for a romantic getaway or special celebration 🥂

This hotel was amazing!! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was so nice and so clean. The design and character of this hotel was absolutely beautiful, like nothing I’ve ever seen before! It was 10/10. I will for sure be going back here whenever I need a place to stay in the cities.
Didn’t do any shopping, as I had an event to go to. But lots of bars and restaurants around. The restaurant in the hotel was lovely too!
The only thing was parking. Luckily we found a meter right out front, but had to pay about $30 in total for parking for one night stay over. Not familiar with the cities to know if that’s average for parking though.

Great place to stay, especially if you want to enjoy a relaxing evening of Jazz at the nearby Berlin club. Staff was SO courteous, every last one of them! Accommodated a last-minute request for flowers in the room for my wife's birthday, and were kind enough to include a couple of free drink tickets as well. Great vibe here, great food, great cocktails! The only negative was early morning construction (7 AM) in the room next to us. We get it...remodeling is difficult in a hotel.

Usually a fantastic experience. There is a restaurant remodel going on that interrupted water service through the night, so we were unable to flush or get glasses of water. Also, the power was interrupted several times resulting in a loud beeping noise when it came back on.

I have stayed here dozens of times and it’s usually lovely, so I’m confident the problems will go away when the remodel is complete.

We love the atmosphere of the Hewing. The building and individual rooms are comfortable and well designed. The roof bar is a fun scene and the staff we met were all delightful. Only issue was no one to help w the luggage upon arrival and departure. Bar folks helped us w an informal gathering of friends. Parking was smooth and we felt bad that we didnt have cash to tip the valet

Nice hotel, but for what they charge, should be a better experience. Specifically, our room was only equipped with one robe and one bath towel. When I called for another bath towel it never came and had to call again. The TV also didn’t work that night they said it was an issue with the provider. Anyways, for pushing $300, expected a much more buttoned up experience.

The overall quality of the hotel and staff was poor. While the room itself is clean and on the smaller side, it had a very loud buzzing fan noise that couldn't be turned off. On contacting the front desk, the response was \" we can give you a sound machine if you want\". Well a sound machine will only add to the noise !!. The mattress was also extremely uncomfortable for a hotel of its \"class rating\". it was a spring mattress and both my wife and I kept rolling towards the center as it caved in. The final straw after an extremely uncomfortable night was when we requested our car from the valet in the morning after checking out; he pulled the car upfront and left us standing by it for a whole 15min in the cold without a key; just disappeared to get another car. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone, or keep your expectations low for a motel 8 kinda experience.

The hotel is beautiful and located in a very popular area in Minneapolis! Our room was very spacious and had very minimalistic and modern design, which I love. The only thing that I didn’t like is the fact that there is no closet and very little space to hang the clothes. It wasn’t a problem for us because we were there only one night.

I thought for the money, the Hewing was just OK. I know it's not new anymore, but for over $300 on a weeknight, it felt like I deserved better.... service, cleanliness (the room was very clean, however), attitude. Some desk attendants were very helpful, others looked away as I struggled to adjust a luggage carrier. Literally NO ONE offered to help me take my luggage to my room. I gave the parking attendant $20 thinking he'd help me with my luggage as well as park the car, but the parking attendants are contracted out, so they are not helping you as a guest, just as the driver of a car they get to charge to park. Then entryway felt dingey, as did the hallways. Pluses: clean room, very quiet, beautiful view from rooftop, excellent location downtown. I felt for a \"hipster\" hotel, the vibe was lacking. I've stayed at other similar hotels downtown at a lesser price, so was hoping the Hewing was going to WOW me. Oh well.

this hotel looks cute online and it looked like it was in a great area (it was), however it left a lot to be desired. We were there over the july 4th weekend, however our room was never served on 7/4. they refreshed the towels and made the bed, but nothing else. they did not refresh the dirty glasses, bathroom sundries or clean up the room in any way. In addition, the hallway carpeting was dirty and stained. the carpeting in our room was ripped at the threshold of the bathroom, as were the towels and sheets. Both the desk chair and the headboard were material, which i do not like, it feels very dirty. The bathroom floor was sticky (which can be from too much soap). in addition, the safe did not work and I had to call 3 times to get someone up to the room so that we could leave.

Relaxing Retreat

My stay at Hewing Hotel was amazing! It was just what I needed after a long car ride from the east coast. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly making check in and out a breeze. The heated spa pool on the roof overlooking downtown Minneapolis was extremely relaxing and it is nice that it is open 7am-midnight most days. I also took part in the High Fika high tea service that they offer on the rooftop on saturdays. It was an amazing trip and would stay here again when passing through Minneapolis.

The staff could not have been better. Accurate, friendly, competent and attentive. LOVE the hotel and will stay again. The room cleanliness was great. They just need to pay attention to details in an ocd type of way. Make sure every morsel of the room is tented to. But overall great.

This is a fun spot to stay, and we really enjoyed our overnight—until we woke up to find that both of our cars had been vandalized and one was stolen from in the parking ramp. While this was obviously unfortunate, the staff was kind and assured us that the valet company would reach out and \"take care of everything.\"

However, when we received an email from the valet company, it stated that we would need to file claims through our own insurance instead. Not quite as helpful as it was made to sound.

The property itself is beautiful, and the rooms are clean, but for the price, a complimentary bottle of water in the room would be expected. Upon arrival, we were offered an “upgrade” to a better room—one that actually had a proper window. The room we stayed in had a window that was half-buried in the ground, making it feel more like a basement than a guest room.

The biggest disappointment, however, was the sauna. Not only was it outdated, but it was also filthy. There were no signs or instructions advising guests to sit on towels, meaning people were sweating directly onto the benches. It was absolutely disgusting!

Beautiful hotel in a great location with great amenities. However, the bedsheets in our room appeared dirty with chunks of granola or something on them. The shower head also did not spray fully or correctly, making it difficult to use comfortably.

I was visiting for work, so I happened to grab breakfast at Tullibee downstairs each morning before I headed out for the day. I would visit just to eat there again!

The Hewing is a beautiful hotel but the service and ambience is subpar. I was disappointed about the 5 star price but 3 star service. The bartenders and waiters are understaffed and unfriendly. The valet was slow. There should be attendants at the door to help guests bring in items and luggage. We also tried to go in the hottub but there were 21 people (when the limit is 13).
