Good for onward travel. Nice restaurant staff

The hotel had a nice exterior and the kitchen and bar staff were lovely. The room AC was broken and when highlighted to the reception they showed us a key to press on the side which we were pressing anyway. The AC would switch off on its own and the room was hot. We then had a water leak from the roof and the initial reply from reception was that we would be given a bucket for the dribble if it couldn’t be fixed. Not the customer facing response expected even if the hotel was full. The area was good if you had a car to travel around, which we did. The spa was an extra charge even though the total cost was quite expensive.

While I found the overall environment pleasing, I was quite disappointed with the lack of soundproofing in the rooms.

Unfortunately, the walls did not adequately block noise, and I could clearly hear conversations, the air conditioning unit, and various other sounds from the neighboring room during the night. This constant noise significantly disturbed my sleep and impacted my stay negatively.

The bed was not comfortable. The room smelled like smoke although it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. The pool advertised in the photos is actually part of a spa and requires a separate payment. The hotel itself is outside of the city center. The furniture in the room was A little worn out.

Great but with some hidden spa pool costs

We are just back from a 9 day stay at the URH and had a fabulous holiday exploring the northern coast of Spain as far west as Vixia Herbeira. It’s a wonderful area and the hotel proved to be a very comfortable base with our family adjoining rooms. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable and very quiet at night.

The surrounding Aviles and Oviedo are lovely but have to be visited by car as there is very little around the hotel itself as others have said. With a hire car this was not a problem and we enjoyed visiting Aviles many times for its choice of restaurants and great vibe.

The hotel generally offered good value for the facilities offered. However there are some areas that could be improved: The main problem was an unexpected bill for use of the spa pool. We were led to believe from the listing and photographs that that would be included in our stay. At no stage were we told our particular booking did not include the spa pool (i.e. at check in) and each time we asked for a towel and went in were we racking up 12.50 euro per person. Needless to say this led to an unpleasant end to the holiday and some argument. This easily could be avoided by 1. Having clarity in the advertised room and 2. Just like ordering a beer, signing it off to the room. URH You need to sort this out.

Other than that significant annoyance, the bar area could do with a refresh particularly of some tired sofas that are not befitting a hotel of this class.

Spa is overpriced and crowded

The hotel was great, but the spa is overrated and overpriced! They wanted to charge 18€ for each kid to use the spa, and adults were pretty expensive as well. We ended up going, and it was very crowded and hard to relax and enjoy.

The rooms were big and comfortable, so we were pleased with that part.

The place was nice and quiet, however the industry in the area is polluting heavily the air around - what a pity!
The spa is not included - not mentioned with the booking @ €20/ two hours?!
The address is not recognised by the sat nav so it was challenging to find the place.

Great room and big bathroom, spotless clean! Nice!
Breakfast not having fresh orange juice and had to insist for an espresso coffee. Pricy!

Overall ok. I liked it!

Nice hotel in a quite and exclusive neighborhood

We only stayed one night at this hotel and chose it when looking for one close to the airport. Check-in was very fast and simple. Hotel is located within a nice and exclusive residential area but a bit far from downtown. Other than the convenience of being close to the airport, I would recommend this hotel more for business travelers, golfers or week-end get away because it is a bit far from everything. With respect to the room, it's clean and average size. Beds .are very uncomfortable and TV size is very small if compared with all other similar hotels of the same rating. It has a restaurant and bar. Buffet is very good and offered at a reasonable price.

Great if not for the Internet connection

This hotel is very nice except for its very poor internet service which is important to me. This is something that the Management of the hotel need to seriously fix once and forever and stop the excuses as it is not a new issue.
Otherwise, I find it a very nice hotel to stay at. All staff, inclusive of technical maintenance, restaurant, room service, etc. are very helpful and really nice, superb service in this respect.

The hotel is good but you need a car the neirghbood is nice but only houses nothing else,you have to walk at least ten minutes for the only bus that pass every hour.Every day I have to take a taxi to go and to return to the hotel.

Very nice stay at Hotel Zen Balagares.

This is a lovely spa hotel that is a little hard to find. The extremely quiet rooms are very comfortable and ours had a territorial view. The staff was wonderful. My only suggestion would be that they add GPS coordinated to their listings so you can easily find it.

This is the best hotel property for 30 km. There is ample free parking if you rented a vehicle. It is a good choice for an early morning flight from OVD. The physical facilities are quite nice. The golf course (I don’t play) looks well groomed and not overly busy. Because it is the best property around, it seems to get a lot of convention/large meeting trade. We were there at the time of the Rotary International meeting for the province of Asturias. And there’s the rub. Lots of guests require lots of extra wait staff. Or so you would think. We tried to grab a bite to eat at around 9:30 pm (not late by Spanish standards). The hotel restaurant is overpriced but the bar menu is very similar and much more reasonable. So we went to the bar (already occupied by about 60 Rotarians). One bartender and no floor help meant that we waited more than 35 minutes and left without ever having even seen any wait staff. That service is awful even by the relatively relaxed Spanish notions of attentive service. Our frustration was compounded by the presence of 5 staff behind the registration desk at 10:00 pm on a Saturday night at a hotel that was already full. Huge misallocation of staff. So great property, but staffing needs work.

Very good hotel in unusual location.

Hotel on Golf course near to Aviles. Very good hotel - very modern bar and bedrooms; excellent food. Staff very helpful.

Rather an unusual location in an industrial area - but don't be put off. Factory (possibly a chemical works) just in sight of hotel, but the hotel strangely celebrates is location, with occasional photographs of chimneys and other pieces of industrial architecture in beautiful sunshine or in front of spectacular skies. Don't be put off - it works - and it is a very good hotel. Try it!

Also, for travellers with any kind of mobility problems it is a real advantage. It has full level access and lift to all floors.

Stayed 3 nights at URH Zen Balagares and was disappointed overall. The staff behaved correctly and professionally, but were far from **welcoming** or genuinely friendly, which added to the cold, impersonal feeling of the stay. Despite the hotel being almost empty, I was given a room without any outside window, more like an interior cabin than a 4‑star hotel room, and there was no water kettle plus a sink that never drained properly during the whole stay.

Check‑in was extremely slow with only one receptionist for a small group ahead of me, the bar is overpriced for average food (a simple beer is 4.50 €), and overall the 3‑day stay fell far below what a 4‑star spa hotel should offer; correct but not friendly service is simply not enough to make up for these shortcomings.

Es un edificio nuevo, pero los servicios normales... Excepto el precio. Todo muy caro. Un gintonic casi 13 euros (ni en los mejores paradores), una copa de vino casi 5... y así. El desayuno creo recordar que 13 euros por persona... Por su puesto no lo incluimos.

La habitación estaba muy deteriorada: suelo todo rayado, desconchones en pared y rodapiés, la silla rota, por la mampara caía agua como una catarata, la ventana estaba llena de telarañas, la neverita no tenia luz, la puerta del baño no cerraba bien... Y eso que pedimos un cambio de habitación porque la que nos dieron inicialmente estaba aún peor (incluía una araña gigantesca).
NO es un hotel de 4 estrellas

Cogimos una habitacion triple, para dos es comoda pero para tres ya es bastante justa y mas somos tres adultos. Por lo demas se ve todo muy cuidado y de buena calidad. El desayuno buffet esta muy bien, tiene de todo y rico, el hotel en general es muy chulo, excelente decoración, muy buena atencion tanto en recepción como en el comedor. En general es un hotel que merece la pena.

Poussière sur une trappe au-dessus du lit.
La description de l’hôtel mentionnait des frais pour l’accueil d’un animal pour une valeur de 15€. Cependant, à l’accueil, j’ai dû payer 20€ pour l’accueil de mon petit chien !
En mentionnant le problème de prix à l’accueil le matin de notre départ, la dame m’a juste dit que le prix allait être corrigé, et donc pas de remboursement des 5€.
Je trouve que ce n’est pas normal que j’ai dû payer 20€ alors que le site web mentionnait 15€.
D’autre part, pour un hôtel 4⭐️ et pour une chambre familiale (3 personnes), nous avons trouvé qu’installer un rideaux non-occultant dans la salle-de-bain était inapproprié !

Buena opción en Asturias.

Está muy bien para tomar como punto de partida para recorrer Asturias, o como hotel de paso. El buffet del desayuno es excelente, así como el personal del comedor. Lo único a mejorar es el proceso de Check in, que ha sido bastante lento a pesar de tener la reserva pagada y las especificaciones bien indicadas.

Clean, friendly staff. Weird idea to have a windows in the bathroom, with only a see-through curtain. Unconformable with a family of 3 (asked for a sheet, got it no problem, hang it on the curtain, that helped). 20 euro for a dog per night is steep, but you get a bowl, a snack and there's a doggy play area, so, ok. No coffee in the room is embarrassing for this price class. The mini fridge didn't really work.

La habitación estaba bien, pero el baño en el suelo no estaba del todo limpio y habia una ventana en el baño que daba a la habitación con una cortina translúcida que no daba nada de intimidad. En general hay una falta de mantenimiento, suelo descorchado, ventanas que no se quedan abiertas, etc
El personal había un poco de todo, las de la limpieza muy agradable, recepción unos secos y otros gentiles y en restaurante una muy simpática y otra muy antipática.
El hotel está lejos de todo es importante saber que necesitaras el coche para todo

En general nos gustó mucho el hotel, sus instalaciones, habitación muy amplia, spa.
Lo único que decir es que en la habitación hacía mucho calor y el aire salía caliente, estuvimos casi todo el día con la ventana abierta porque era un poco agobiante.
Por lo demás todo perfecto.
