This 5-star hotel was a project by the prestigious architect Souto Moura, winner of the Pritzker Prize 2011. It is located in the unique setting of the Rachadouro Cloister, perfectly integrated into the monastery of Alcobaça, one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal and classified as a National Monument and Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The hotel is located in the center of Alcobaça, 15 minutes from Nazaré, 40 minutes from Fátima, 1 hour and 30 minutes from Lisbon and 2 hours from the city of Porto. The hotel occupies about a third of the monastery and has been fully renovated. It is very clean and quite spacious. Definitely a very unique experience and there is no other place like this. Great water pressure in the shower. The included breakfast is spectacular. The center of the city is just behind the hotel building - a quick walk to shops and restaurants.

This property is very unique and beautifully designed. Worth every penny. But not much to do. It was wonderful for one night. Photographer's dream. Breakfast was delicious and the grounds were beautiful. Make sure to check out the light house port in Nazare.
