The staff was not trustworthy at the receptions and guest relations area. I was told to upgrade to have a king size bed , even thought I paid for a junior suite . None was available on the main floor as my partner is in a wheel chair . I did the the upgrade , still didn’t get the king size bed as the elevator wasn’t working to get to the floor.

The staff there was great! They were very friendly, always checking in and greeting with a smile. I did wish the restaurants were more diverse, having more cultural foods to eat instead of things you eat back home… the facility did lose power a few times, also did not have the hottest water so prepare for that. One thing I can say is, if you are looking for a diverse stay, pick somewhere else because besides the workers there was not much diversity. I did enjoy my time there besides that!

I was shocked by all of the lower reviews. Everything was amazing. The staff and entertainment was so much fun. The food was pretty good there was so many option so there was always something to like. We went to the steak house AMAZING!!! would definitely recommend to anyone!

This was our first all inclusive experience. Though not really our thing, it was good. Food was quite good. Staff were very good. Maria (housekeeping for suite 236) was amazing!! The place was very well maintained. The beach is not amenable for swimming. As to be expected, it was also windy - very windy! That was disappointing as it drove is to the pool area more than normal. Not sure if this is always the case or if it was because it was spring break, but the pool had tunes pumping pretty loud almost the whole time. You also need to claim your spot early. There is a hard push for vacation property sales pitch (basically timeshare). When booking through Hotels, it does not include airport shuttle (taxi ranged from $40 to $60 USD). Also, do not expect the property to respond to messages through the Hotels app. You need to email them.

We stayed at Senator Puerto Plata, and overall, the resort itself is beautiful. The property is well-maintained, and the setting is truly gorgeous. The staff was also fairly helpful, especially considering we visited during New Year’s when they were extremely busy.

However, our main issue—and a significant one—was the food and drinks. Given the price we paid, the quality was very disappointing. While there is a large selection of food and everything is nicely presented, the actual taste does not match the appearance.

The reservation-only restaurants were average at best. The wine served was very low quality. The worst experience was at the sushi restaurant—we had a 7:00 PM reservation but waited about an hour just to be seated due to poor organization. After another long wait for the food, what we received was extremely disappointing. We took a bite, got up, and left to eat at the buffet. I would strongly recommend avoiding the sushi there.

The drinks were equally underwhelming. There are no fresh juices available anywhere on the resort, which was surprising for a beachfront location. The alcoholic drinks were very weak and tasted heavily diluted. They were made from concentrated juice and then further watered down, resulting in something closer to flavored water than a proper cocktail. We tried multiple bars across the resort, and the quality was consistently the same. When I asked a bartender about fresh juice, he laughed. At one point, I ended up squeezing fruit

The front desk staff is mean, unhelpful and dismissive. The rest of the staff is lovely. The rooms have a smell of mold or some other unpleasant smell. I nearly got asthma after two nights. I would not return due to management/front desk staff and the mold/odor situation.

Hotel was not what I expected. The food was average the drinks were horrible.. the beer on tap we thought was presidente and I was another beer. We were told by one of the staff that it was another brand beer. Smh also no night life, and for the sport bar there was nothing to do. No pool table or anything to make this stat fun. Will not return!

The room was clean but floors were not. No face clothes and bed was broken and not fixed correctly Staff was very kind at resort. The food was ok not great and cold alot of time. Juice is watered down as well. They do not have water sports and very little entertainment. Restaurants are not great either just average. The spa was wonderful i had a massa and facial. No Hot tub just a cool tub! Overall a relaxing week.

All of the staff were very super friendly. The resort itself was very beautiful and clean. I loved being right on the beach. I enjoyed the food options that were offered. The room was very beautiful, clean, spacious and had a nice patio seating area. The bed was very comfortable, as well. I liked the bathroom except for the toilet area. I had a big hole in the bottom of the wall. Also, my toilet seat was not secured to the toilet. I complained about it to several members of the staff who ensured me it would be fixed; it never was. We also tried out the restaurants. My steakhouse experience was wonderful. Delicious food, the restaurant was nice and the breeze from the ocean was amazing. The Japanese restaurant could have been better. We did not receive the Hibachi experience we had hoped for. There was no show, no excitement. It appeared as though the \"chef\" was untrained and just trying to help the staff. He wasn't even dressed in the same manner as the other chefs. Definitely different from other Hibachi experiences that I have had at other restaurants. Aside from the inconvenience of the bathroom and the letdown at the Japanese restaurant, I really, really enjoyed my stay.

The air conditioner and TV didn't work in our room. It took two days to get a new room. The property and ocean are beautiful and clean. Everything is easy to get to. The resort doesn’t appear to like when you book through Expedia. The resort caters to Canadians. Staff are not very friendly and could care less if you tip them or not. Britto was the best! He took good care of us at the small beach and was very fun. They definitely do not have enough chairs at the pool or the beach when the cruise ship is in port, No chairs to sit in most of the days. The mini bar does not allow for any alcohol in your room. It is only pop and water. You are only allowed two coffees for your coffee pot in your room. Understaffed for meals at the buffet. Very hard to get service. We will NOT return.

My partner and I visited this resort for the first time, where we stayed for 5 days. Overall, we found the room to be clean and well-maintained. The resort had a good variety of food offered in its buffet, and the staff were kind and helpful. The coffee shop, ice cream shop and pizza shop were a nice touch and great for grabbing a quick bite while hanging around the beach, all of which had clean, quick access to the restrooms nearby.

The à la carte restaurants, specifically the Italian and Teppanyaki restaurants, had limited menus to choose from.

The service at the Italian restaurant was a bit slow when it came to serving the food or refilling drinks, and the teppanyaki dishes were all cooked with the same seasonings/sauces for their hot dishes, although the chef did offer an entertaining show. That said, I recommend eating at the buffet if you prefer more diversity and quality dishes.

The beach was clean with a lot of beach chairs available for seating, while the poolside chairs were pretty busy throughout the day. The bars were quick to serve out their drinks during the day, but when the buffet closes at 10 PM, the sports bar gets pretty busy.

The lookout spot at the left end of the beach offers gorgeous views of nearby areas and the resort. You may also get the chance to watch cruise ships dock as they tend to visit daily.

The spa access was okay, but the pools and outdoor areas could use some cleaning. The changerooms were spotless and had a nice ambiance.

Room booked on Expedia wasn't the room you get. That room is an upgraded room costing you more $. Was given an old room with disgusting shower and poor water pressure and smell of sewerage. Had to wait until next day to get upgrade. Buffet average, hibachi restaurant excellent, steak house avoid, Italian restaurant great. Poor service at buffet. Rained most of our stay, so nothing else to do. Pools are great. Watch for Pool bar who only rinses used cups and gives them out again. Unsanitary.

The shower/tub was peeling and rusted. The cleaning staff barely cleaned the room, and they leave the door open letting mosquitos inside the room. The TV didn't work for 6 days before they decided to change it. \"Bladimir\", a server at the \"Asian Restaurant\" was so rude I left before getting my food. Impossible to get a reservation at the steak restaurant. They don't let the uber enter the hotel so you need to walk far to the highway. They do not offer airport shuttle and they overprice the taxi to the airport (80$USD).

The room was not well kept, the shower glass was cracked so everytime we showered, it leaked all to the bed area, the staff was extremely rude and unwilling to be helpful (except for literally 3 people), the amenities were not as promised - a lot of was not available or well kept at all, and the power went out 4 times which caused all the water to be off as well. The property was beautiful. We did not get the upgraded room which I would recommend if it fits in your budget. When we checked into our room it was not clean, it had trash from the previous occupant, used towels, and some trash on the floor. It also took awhile for them to provide us with clean towels/wash cloths. I did not let this ruin my trip even though I was a bit upset. Overall I loved the property, I just wish it had more activities/shows on the resort.

I took a solo vacation to Senator Puerto Plata and enjoyed the hotel, beach and gorgeous scenery and views. The Jr Garden Suite in Building 12 is dated but was clean, had great air conditioning, hot water, a comfortable bed and a patio facing palm trees. The resort isn't massive...easily walkable. The beach was free of sargassum with lovely sand and fresh breeze. Tons of chairs available. Beach vendors selling photos and offering hair braids are frequent but a simple \"no, gracias\" does the trick. The pool area is divided into 2 pools and one has a swim up bar. Get your towels early! Plenty of options for food at the main buffet or sports bar or snack bar. I found the buffet to have good selection of meat and fish and vegetables. Nice cakes for dessert. The staff work hard in the buffet. There's a cute little street that has shops selling souvenirs, rum, cigars, jewelery, etc...there's also a pizza place, ice cream and coffee shop where you can eat/drink for free. The resort has a show nightly. There are good areas for quiet and activities depending on your taste. Don't miss taking the walking trail up the hill to the viewpoint. From there you can see the whole resortnand coast and the bay on the other side where cruise ships dock. The sunset is beautiful. A great stay and I would definitely return!

This Resort is NOT handicapped and Older People friendly at all. We booked this reservation few months in advanced and had requested a first floor room- room at near as possible to the restaurants and pool as my companion was not able to walk very far. Instead they gave us a hotel third floor- after se teal discussions they finalized gave us a first floor room very FAR from all amenities this limited my companion to leave the room. Very unpleasant stay at this hotel. Front desk staff didn’t seem to care at all about my situation. They kept lying about not having rooms available. On a positive note the rest of the staff at the resort were friendly we will. Or stay at this resort again they do t care about disabled and older people

Rooms a bit dated but clean. Low tier alcohol only. Food was OK, not the best but not the worst. New Years there was a dinner gala which was amazing. Very well done lots of great food and drinks. Nightly entertainment area was lacking. Small drink cart or you could go up to sports bar. Entertainment shows were OK. The entertainment team had great energy but content was so-so. Sister resort had much better evening events and a better setup with a covered stage, several bars, multiple events each night. No food at pool area or beach. No bar at beach…had to walk back to pool bar. No drink servers. Beach and water was great. A bit rough at times but great other days. No centralized system. Had to see concierge to make dinner reservations. They had times of events listed (except nightly entertainment…never saw that listed) on a board but did not say where they were. Many other resorts we visited had apps to reserve dinners and listed what was going on. No beach rental (snorkeling/kayaks) that we ever found. A better overall description of events would help. All in all an OK resort that grew on us. Great for a few day get away but would look elsewhere in the future.

This resort is consistently inconsistent. They run out of food, alcohol, they say they have 6 restaurants and they have 3.
The customer service is horrible, the employees rarely acknowledge you when you ask for something. The plaster is my bathroom is falling off the wall, the shower water leaks into your bedroom and I’ve had a towel down throughout my 7 day stay. There were no robes in my room but were in my sisters room. I came here with 16 family members and we are all upset, frustrated and wanted to leave after day 1.

You can only make 2 reservations to the a la carte restaurants and we’re here for 7 days which is really unfair. The food at the sports bar is bad, the Italian restaurants pasta is thick and gummy, the habachi experience is lacking due to not having menu items, the steak was chewy and the foods lacks flavor. The buffet restaurant is the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner and consistently runs out of food and the only saving grace is the omelet, plantains and oatmeal in the morning and the grilled chicken, beans and rice and grilled veggies for lunch and dinner.

The resort does not have enough pool and beach chairs for their guest but rents as least 50 chairs a day to the cruise ship patrons while not having enough chairs for the resort guest. I spent 30 minutes fighting with guest services to get a chair for me and my sister.

I stayed at one of the rooms attached to the walkout pools. The room was an 8/10. It was modern, good AC, great bed. The property was beautiful 10/10. Food was a 5/10, nothing special, and expected from an all inclusive. The reason for the 3 star, is due to the staff. The staff did not seemed well trained in hospitality. They would gather amongst themselves and many time ignore the patrons. For example, you could enter a restaurant and wait 10 minutes for someone to greet you, even after they can see you. I have stayed at several hotels in DR, in Puerto Plata and Punta Cana, and usually what makes the hotels stand out whether it’s a 3 star or 5 star has always been it’s wonderful staff. This was not the case for this hotel and it was seen in all areas of the hotel.
