Got there at 1pm room not ready. Still not ready at 3pm check-in time. Reception had \"no idea\" when it would be.

The room was great although the air conditioning in the hallways was so loud I had to use earplugs. I saw a mouse in the breakfast area on my last morning at the hotel which rather ruined what had been a nice breakfast. The staff were all friendly and very helpful.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It’s close to a lot of restaurants and beach and all the major attractions. It’s also great for shopping groceries bakeries and a lot of specialty coffee shops. I will definitely book it again. I wish the gym is slightly better but other than that, it’s pretty good.

The hotel was in a great location - you could walk to the beach in 5-7 minutes - main shopping strip one block away and the old town a 5 min walk.

However the swimming pool was tiny ! I am a pool person and despite the beautiful beach which I did visit and would have ( even with a big pool ) I was disappointed in the size of it. There were approx 7 Sun loungers round the pool and the rest were on the separate bar terrace .
This was a big disappoint for me and for that reason I would not stay here again which is a shame as it is a wonderful hotel .

Ask for a quiet room and you get a room at the back with no view. Other than an hour or so delay getting our rooms (we were not early), our stay was fine. Staff helpful, breakfast replenished. Roof top pool is more plunge. limited sun beds and bar food not available all day.

Aston La Scala Nice is conveniently located, close to public transport and dining options. It's also walking distance to the Promenade des Anglaise. Location-wise it's great. The rooftop restaurant is also a great place to have a drink or have dinner, watching the sunset. But we were surprised to see that both the hotel's restaurants did not have authentic Nicoise cuisine on offer.
The negatives: The rooms are old and small. The air conditioner in our room didn't really cool, and it was uncomfortably hot on a 35C day. The hotel in general doesn't really have 4 star facilities, although it is marketed as such. The bathroom layout is also a bit problematic- the shower is inside the bathtub, with only a partial glass shower screen, and when you shower, water splashes all over the floor, and unless you are careful, you could slip and fall, getting out of the tub.

Staff are very nice, they work with what they have. The hotel is in poor condition even remodeled room were poorly redone, cracks everywhere, some of the people didn’t have hot water. The roof top swimming pool, tiles are moving, you can trip at anytime. Can’t believe this is a 4 stars hotel. Won’t be back to this hotel and won’t recommend it.

Apparently cooling off in the early evening or before breakfast isn’t part of the plan here.
The rooftop bar does offer lovely views, but the drink prices are completely unjustified! more “luxury rooftop club” pricing, less “meh hotel bar.”

Our room with a balcony view was amazing. It was the beginning of my 50th birthday trip and when we arrived the hotel had left a bottle of wine with a birthday greeting, which was so great. I had two issues beyond that 1) our room was not cleaned well at all. By the third day, we had to ask them to clean the floors. They had not been swept or mopped. I also had set out the bag and filled out the slip for items to be laundered. They were not picked up by the cleaning staff, so I brought them to the front desk later that night. They said they would be cleaned by the next evening. When I went down to pick up the items, the girl at the front desk handed the entire bag back to me. It was never sent for service. This was beyond disappointing as this was our first stop and some of my husbands shirts needed to be cleaned. Beyond those two issues, I would 100% stay there again. The service at the rooftop was fantastic and the location couldn't be any better.

However, maintenance was lacking—there was mold in the shower, not enough hangers, and the safe was placed inconveniently close to the floor. The air conditioning was weak, and despite calling maintenance twice, it was never resolved.
Breakfast:
Outstanding breakfast with a wide variety of options and friendly staff. The only issue was the lack of order around the boiled egg station—some guests did not respect the queue. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend the breakfast.
Hotel Location:
Perfect location—close to everything, with a tram stop just steps away. Ideal for exploring the city.
Hotel Conditions:
Unfortunately, maintenance is a serious concern. Many areas of the building feel abandoned. The rooftop pool was very dirty, lobby furniture was damaged, and the overall organization was poor. The hotel has great potential but needs better management and upkeep.

While the rooftop view is beautiful, the food was mediocre and took a long time to arrive. Most installations need urgent maintenance. The quality of drinks was also disappointing and needs improvement.

Property is not a 4 star. Horrible wifi if on business trip. Property is 3 star and is in need of a remodel. In our room cracked floor tiles in shower and main area. Room Not properly cleaned. Rooms are only receiving a surface clean not a deep clean. Roof top view is great and worth a stop if both elevators are working, expect a 15 minute wait as when we stayed only one lift was in operation. Property is over priced and just did not meet expectation. 3 star at best.

Well appointed hotel with excellent helpful staff and large comfortable room with a view. It’s a large city hotel well placed within easy reach of all the main sights on foot and loads of restaurants and shops. Perhaps a bit soulless and the breakfast was only OK but the four stars are well deserved.

The hotel was in a really good location and we had a gorgeous view from the room. The staff were kind. The rooms seemed clean and buffet breakfast was a convenient perk. The speed of service, however, was longer than expected. It seems like the people on staff needed more staff to help them. It took over an hour to receive 2 toothbrushes and 2 towels to our room because they were so busy helping other guests. Also, there is a waitlist for the single clothing iron on property- so don’t ask to use it when in a hurry.

Our first room was very disappointing for a 4* hotel - one of the bedside tables was missing and we had to use a chair in place of this, then the loo seat fell off the first time we used it, the shower flooded the bedroom making the floor a slip hazard and the view from the window was awful. We raised the issues the next morning and were advised we would be moved rooms and this would be sorted for us when we returned later in the day. It wasn't and the ongoing receptionist had not been updated. The room we were moved to was significantly better and an upgrade but the first room shouldn't have been used - why didn't they repair the bedside table?

We have used this hotel 4 times, but this time it was very disappointing. Safe was not working and we asked the staff numerous days/times to come & fix it,but nobody did. We gave up in the end.

In an excellent location across a small park from the old town and a short walk to the beach. The hotel had a very good selection for breakfast which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
The bedrooms were clean and brightly decorated, and the bathrooms modern.

Had a very pleasant 4 night stay in the Aston. Hotel location is fantastic - minutes from the sea-front, the old town and also the main shopping areas. Hotel itself was very clean and staff friendly and helpful.

This is not a 4* hotel. When we arrived we were given a room which had blood on the walls, a broken toilet, broken door and a porter who had a key to access all of the rooms and just let himself in. This was part of our honeymoon trip and within minutes I was quite prepared to check out and leave had we been able to get a flight out. We spoke to the front desk who moved our room but it just felt uneasy all the time, the key was the main issue for me. I know the cleaning team have a key but it was the porter just letting himself in which really shocked me. The breakfast was okay as it was included in the price but I wouldn’t have paid extra for it as the choice of hot food was limited. There is major building work happening next door and at the time there was an Ironman event in the gardens opposite so all we could hear was the set up and preparation. It may have been 4* many years ago but it is definitely not now.

Don’t waste your money
I was supposed to be in a premium room but the rooms are very old and lots of mold in the bathroom. It’s very easy and cheap to replace the plastic at the bottom of the shower screens and so many mold removers out there for tiles. This hotel needs to do better with their cleaning and inspecting rooms to see what maintenance is needed. I was there 6 nights and my sheets here not changed once.

We have stayed with 3aHotel Group for upwards of 15 years, usually at The Beau Rivage, but within the last 18 months we had noticed a drop in standards there. Being loyal to the 3a group, we thought we would try the Aston la Scala, a sister hotel. Sadly, our stay was marred by 2 occasions of leaking from exceptional torrential rain for the season. This, in itself, was not a problem, but the lack of action, communication and resolution of the issue by the hotel was very bad. The room clearly had a problem and, we believe, had suffered these issues previously, yet the hotel continue to let it. Room change was suggested, but when we asked to see a room, it went silent. Technicians came and said he would get equipment. He never came back. We refused to pack to enable the hotel to move us while out. We were not happy to do that. No one gave alternative plans. A housemaid arrived chirpy and said we were moving. No. They cleaned around the damp rug. I had to roll up and remove it myself, they clearly did not intend to. We went out as we were told technicians needed to come in and fix. When we returned it was evident no one had been in, yet we were told it had been fixed. Lying to paying guests is inexcusable. When it rained later in week, same problem occurred. Again room change was suggested, but we were due to an arranged day out, had no time to pack and were leaving the day after. We gained impression all staff knew the room was prone to the issue.

Lovely hotel close to Nice old town and sea front. Easy walk to tram stop for access to station. Our room was at the front overlooking the park and old town. Although Road out front is busy didn’t notice any significant noise.

Room is not clean, had a broken/leaking sink, took a while to fix it, broken air conditioning, had to sleep a lid portable fan that was provided by hotel, mosquitoes in the room. Manager promised to change the room for second day and transfer our luggage while we were out as the room wasn’t ready but that didn’t happen as we had to wait for the front desk person (Jerome) to give us room when we returned in the night and then we had to move our luggage from the broken room to the new room. Jerome is very helpful and he is the reason I rated it as poor. Otherwise the rating is “Terrible “ Manager offered to discount the price at check out but that was not the case. Overall very disappointing.

We booked this hotel for the pool, busy day exploring and go sit by the pool to catch the last of the sun. Nope. The pool is only open 10-5 seasonally. The room is clean but also not, the basics are cleaned. Location however was amazing.

This hotel was a great find. Well located only a 5 minute walk from the town and amenities. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were super friendly, especially on reception and in the restaurant for breakfast. We loved the roof top terrace although the drinks were a little pricey but all in all we would highly recommend.

Service was poor, after travelling for hours and waiting on our room we discovered the shower thermostat wasn't working. It was constantly dangerously hot so couldnt be used. Reported it twice that day with a response that someone would look at it. Nothing done, reported it the next morning a technician eventually came run it for 30 seconds and said he had to go back to reception, when he didn't return we went to reception and asked for a status, they said it was fine! If the technician had run it for 30 seconds longer he would have discovered the issue. They eventually put us in another room only 36 hours later. Really frustrating and reception staff werent very sympathetic.

Hotel is old and falling apart. Restaurant menu is tasty but limited in choices. Staff are helpful and caring but truly limited by what they can do to help alleviate the hotel situation. Beautiful roof top bar and pool with a generous tapas/ cocktail menu- in the evening. The pool bar and rooftop drinks menu cost double of the normal restaurant menu. The pool is very small and cramped - only 7 loungers available around pool but many little stools and further loungers next to the rooftop bar. Not very children friendly - hotel is mostly full of middle aged and older patrons. Very good breakfast and value for money if booked beforehand. Sold as a 4star but really state of the rooms, amenities and cleanliness is at best a 3*. Hotel badly needs a renovation or some serious TLC and restaurant menu a revamp.
