Overall a pleasant stay. Executive twin room was ample size clean and comfortable. Bed and linen was soft and cosy, brilliant sleep ....and im an insomniac.

Buffer dinner, not a great selection was more biased with localised dishes.

Great coffe in the lobby, but would stay clear of cakes/cheesecakes on display in the cooler....mainly because the cooler is not at optimal temperature...had to send back a cheesecake which was \"warm\".

Entrance door guard are arrogant and not fit for 5 star hotel security, I was told that hotel has a policy not allowing outside food in moto hotel even for hotel residents. Hotel door security were rude and they didn’t allow sweets which was a gift to carry with me back to Australia. I expressed my disappointment to Duty Manager and he also confirmed hotel policy not to allow any food and reason in his words was hotel guest get sick and blame to hotel food. I told duty ma average that does that mean hotel residents can’t take food outside? They can get sick having food outside.

Restaurant conditions also very disappointing, too many nonresident guest during dinner and they were closing only restaurant open entire hotel at 8:15 pm

I appreciate GM upgrade my room. Thank to GM and Mr. Bashar.

However, most disappointing part is Hotel staff are security people always looking and begging for tips.

I am totally disappointed about such attitude.

Front desk staff are very helpful and friendly.

However, welcome drink must come with a hot towel, so that guest could clean hand and drink. Please confirm it.

I wish next time I could get out of those trouble.

Front desk employees aren’t professional at all ; different persons provide me different information; few of the inside employees were very proactive though. I put myself in an awkward condition staying here just for a night; I reserved my booking through online so they couldn’t include me free breakfast they said; Would definitely never come back anymore to experience the terrible experience.

I don’t understand the bad reviews ...

This place is amazing, I travel to the country 3-4 times per year and have my own apartments in the city but still stay here when I bring family along (and they take all the comfy beds at home) ... I couldn’t ask for better and with the Hotels.com discounted rates : this place becomes unbeatable ... The staff are awesome and the facilities are pretty darn good : I own a telecom and stay in 5 star hotels around the world.

Stayed 5 days for business trip. Simply the best hotel service in Bangladesh. With greetings from the staffs every now and then. My assigned room smell mouldy and the manager is willing to change to another room without any further question asked. Good security at all the entrance into the hotel. Every floor with cctv. Food potion is big. Will definitely stay there again.

The hotel's condition, in general, was not what I expected. It is listed as 5 stars, but in rerality it is not, 3 stars would be it. The smell in the room was not pleasant, and in the hotel in general, maybe because of high humidity. There are much better hotels with the same price or even less.

Brief stay at the Sonargaon

General upkeep of the Hotel could do with an improvement.Ability to follow instructions by the kitchen (chefs) deserves greater attention .If one says I want my lamb chops done medium then it means that and not very well done !
However the Front Desk personnel, especially people like Ms Suraiya Akter, are extremely helpful.They are well trained and good ambassador for the Hotel

Very comfortable stay at the Pan Pacific, super helpful and courteous staff. The hotel could do better to offer more local foods and culture. Too much emphasis on western and imported foods and drinks, not enough on fresh local produce: Example Young Coconut in Bangladesh are so delicious, hotel will give you spring water from Italy but cannot serve a fresh local sound coconut water. So limited local fish offerings but pizza offerings cover 2 pages on the menu. And so on it goes ...

The carpet in the room as well as the sofa was extremely dirty. We checked in and immediately left to complain so they switch us to different room which was basically in the same filthy condition. This place requires serious upgrades. Although the service was good I will not book this hotel again.

when entering the hotel - there is a very foul smell like a rotten carpet. the sorroundings of the hotel is pathetic.. no place to go out actually. rooms are good. service from staff is excellent, staff is very sensitized. the dining area - for dinner, because of iftaar dinner there was no space to sit and eat. it was really complex and inconvenient - my meals were spoiled and its an expensive dinner.

Welcoming staff, smooth check in, comfortable room. We had to ask for tight taps in the bathroom to be adjusted which were carried out quickly. Request for hoovering the room was carried out quickly as well. Fresh flowers , fruit, local newspaper daily. Leisure centre was excellent with a large heated , clean outdoor pool. The Buffet dining room had an excellent spread with attentive staff and a good view.

Good to stay if you are in Oil and Gas related business. Hotel is built over a huge area , with beautiful gardens, fountains and all modern amenities. In the morning a flute player plays amazing tunes setting up for a perfect start of the day.

Beware of the traffic, which is an issue all over Dhaka and always take an hour in hand when going for any meeting which is not walk able distance.

It didn't exceed my expectations. There were ongoing construction and lot of noise in my room during day time. They gave me a poor quality room because I booked through internet (hotel.com). Also they expose my identity and room number to visitors. I asked them to relocate me to a different room and they assigned me a horrible, small and single beded room.

A typical Govt facility of Bangladesh!

1. It was very annoying to see hotel employee were occupying the guest lounge sofas (entrance) as a resting place for them! As a guest I feel like I am in a public place competiing with them!
2. Behaviour of reception staff not to a standard like similar other hotel! They do not know how to serve in a commercial environment
3. Hotel service staff unnecessarily disturb by knocking room door and asking do you need anything! Very annoying!!!
4. Hotel staff judge people by dress & power in Bangladesh Govt
5. Shower room drainage system was not good! Flooding the bathroom while taking shower.

I and my fiance came from United States to visit our family in Dhaka. We got married and decided to stay at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka for our wedding night. Although we mentioned several times that it was a special occasion, they gave us a terrible room. The air conditioner was out of order and when we complained, two men came in our room in the middle of the night to fix it. They are repairing the hotel and doing some noisy construction works in the building. They didn't notify us about this terrible noise while we were reserving the hotel online. They didn't even mention the noise when we called them to notify about our wedding night. We woke up very early due to the noise from the construction works right above our roof. Our room was vibrating and we were worried that the roof may fall down. We called the front desk and they said they will compensate for this noise with \"free of charge\" apples and bananas at the mini bar, which we found ridiculous. Then after a while they changed our room but the noise was still there. They are not notifying their guests about on-going noisy constructions before reservation. Moreover, they didn't reduce the price per night. I stayed in this hotel before and used to be decent. But this hotel is not a good hotel anymore. The quality of this hotel has been degraded largely over last two years. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. THERE ARE PLENTY OF BETTER OPTIONS IN DHAKA.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, What's happening?!

The Sonargoan is a “Tale of 2 Cities”: There is the “Shiny One on the Hill” and there are the “Slums”. The setting is very nice among the trees; there are impeccably maintained gardens; a beautiful pool area and a probably imagined sense of security, but enough to shield you from the frenzied traffic on the outside.
The large reception area with coffee shop, ample seating, “sky-high” window walls and view of the exterior reflecting pools impart a sense of grandeur. The main restaurant serves excellent buffets. The waiter crew is charming and attentive.
Alas, all that charm and 4 to 5 star rating come to naught the minute one steps out of the elevator. The hallways were in bad condition; the rooms were not much better. A big piece of carpet had been irregularly cut out of the carpet in my room and crudely replaced, evidently to get rid of a stain or burn. The plastic night curtain was brittle and falling apart, with moldy streaks at the folds. Bed sheets were grey and see-through. Beds were covered with a single acrylic blanket and 2 limp pillows. Toilet bowl, lavatory and bath tub had been painted over with white paint !!! The toilet seat was broken. Yellow stains were creeping out of too many edges and corners.The furniture were old and beaten up.
I requested a room change the next day, which was somewhat grudgingly granted, but resulted in a slight improvement only. At night a good \"spirit\" put a white towel and slippers in front of my bed. I was touched!

First time to stay

The hotel I normally stay at in Dhaka was under renovation (different ownership). So I decided to try Pan Pacific. It was in close proximity to the area I needed to go each day. The 4 things I want in a hotel is (1) good Wi-Fi for both emailing and Skype, (2) quiet, (3) non-smoking floors, and (4) CNN. They met my four goals. The buffet restaurant was very good. All staff were very friendly.

If you book on Expedia be warned. They have 2 offers with same price everything. If you choose the Expedia recommended option then brakefast not included. Choose the other you'll get brakefast.
