The staff were great and the rooms cleaned well each day. The building though is a little dated and could do with remodeling. Outside was dirty and chaotic like most of Jakarta but this is not the fault of the hotel. Probably wont visit Jakarta again but if I did I would stay and the Menara Peninsular again.

The staff was nice and friendly but overall the hotel is a bit old and run down. Good menu for room service and the bed is comfy but the toilet is a bit old and smells from the drains. The water flow of the shower was also not so great and hot water took a while to come.

This is my first time to stay at this hotel. I initially checked in to a basic room. I found the room to be a bit older (the bath only had a shower over bath, and the tub had a high lip), after the 3rd day I upgrade to their Executive level room, that was MUCH nicer and appeared that the room had been recently updated (the bathroom still looked the same). Also, I noticed that the WiFi was much better. The Executive Level has a lounge area where you can sit and have coffee and snack with a decent view as it is located on the 23rd floor, it also has breakfast in the morning which was very convenient. I did use the gym on the 5th floor daily, it was a full gym, and even though the equipment was a little bit older it was nice. The pool and area around were nice, I did get into the pool once while I was there.
Because my friends live in West Jakarta, I found the location convenient, I usually stay in a hotel with shopping and eating on the lower levels, this hotel has no such amenities, and you will have to travel if you want this.
Also, the lounge area if it can be called that, is not very attractive.
All the staff was friendly and helpful (and I do not speak Bahasa).

Location was physically near to central park mall. However, as it needs to make a few big detour, depending on the timing, it could between 10mins to 1 hr. It also falls inside the odd and even zone so need to plan your transportation well.

Not a pleasant experience due to housekeeping

Initial check in experience was okay. I booked a non-smoking junior suite, and when I checked in on the first day, it was alright except it looked a little dated. However, when I came back to the room on the second day's evening (after housekeeping), I was appalled and annoyed that the room smelled of cigarette smoke. I called up housekeeping, and a man came to spray some stuff and did not even apologise but just smiled sheepishly. After the spray, room was a mixture of lemon and cigarette smell, which made it worse! I requested a change of room, but was told there wasn't one initially. Upon insistence, a new non-smoking room was provided. However, the water flow in the sink in the new room did not work well. I did not bother to request for a new change of room. Hot water was also not available on the morning I had to check out. Food choices were average, and some items were missing when I tried to order. Nachos were horrible. Thankfully, the staff on 5th level restaurant were polite, and the distance from my work to hotel made commuting bearable.Hotel definitely needs a refresh of the rooms, breakfast menu, and re-training of housekeeping staff (who smokes in a non-smoking room?!).

Good location. Awesome service. Clean room. Bathroom needs improvement. Ants problem. Put some bread and snacks on the table in the evening, they became some big ants party when I saw them in the morning. Bad breakfast except for the freshly made sunny side up eggs and sausages. Overall OK, but I won't go back.

Fairly centrally located and well run, this hotel is not brand new and is showing it's age I
n some places. But the rooms are clean and the facilities are more than adequate. I used the business centre, the pool, the health spa and the restaurant, all good.

The traffic outside the front door is a bit chaotic so going for a walk is not easy, but certainly possible. The taxis are nearby and cheap so most of Jakarta is accessible. Just try and avoid rush hour. And tell the taxi to take the toll roads, for which you will have to pay.

The mosque nearby calls us all to prayer a few times a day, but it is plenty and bit too intrusive.

very outdated hotel

the hotel overall look is very outdated. I booked two suite rooms. the junior suite has a very good view of the city and big window. The other one is pool view. There was a leaking at the outside hall and there was no sign. the carpet was wet really really wet and looks like it has been leaking from quite sometime.

Overall I was happy with this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and eager to please. I had a nice time.

A few small details about the facilities...the wifi connection was a bit spotty. Good enough to do some work via email etc but I couldn't use Skype and had trouble streaming.

The food was excellent! The only issue was the kitchen didn't always seem well stocked, out of 8 meals I had to change something about my order 5 times because the kitchen couldn't provide something from the menu. This was sometimes disappointing, but again, the food I did eat tasted excellent.

The hotel ad said they had a deep soaking tub and a rain shower. I actually chose the hotel and paid a little extra because I was looking for some relaxation. In fact, it was a regular shower head and a regular tub. This was the only thing that I was legitimately disappointed by. I picked the hotel because I thought I was getting a special treat.

Building work ( hammering ) started promptly at 07.30am Saturday morning.
Took 1 hour 45 minutes to get there on Thursday evening, not the 35 mins on the web site.
On the [lus side, bed was comfortable and room was clean.
Wi fi is a mess, free in room then you have to buy something in bar to get it in public areas.

Hotel room was spacious, that's a big plus point. Location was great. Suggestions for improvement: Hotel needs to improve on the cleanliness of the carpet and curtain. Also, to manage the smell of cigarette smoke (although we've requested for non-smoking room, and was moved once already..but the smell was still bad). Breakfast variety can be improved and to keep food warm. Overall, a decent stay.

Don't go to karaoke at ground floor, it's not hotels karaoke. If u go for drink it will be $aud 17 per drink. Hotel is good, good breakfast, good staff, no trouble at night at all.

Nice hotel but needs a bit of updating

This hotel at one time was a grand showpiece I'm JKT, but it needs INVESTMENT to be updated, the Wi-Fi internet in rooms SPOTY to the point it's not possible to really work or conduct business, the rooms could be cleaner and paint touched up. Needed more power plugs!!

Hotel staff was friendly and professional. My stay was very comfortable with a fantastic view. The hotel has character and history. The age only shows in carpets and hallways. All linens, beds, etc. Were new and fresh. Windows have a good seal well so pollution doesn't get inside and I could breathe easy (this had been a big issue for me on other visits in different hotels). Breakfast had good variety of western and Asian options. Location was close to expressway, which was convenient as my assignments took me to many places in the city. There was nothing within walking distance. Overall a very nice stay and value for money.

a/c not cooling

First, I was put in the room where the a/c is not cooling at all eventhough the temperature showed 10 degrees... I was sweating the whole night.

The next morning, i informed the receptionist, they then sent 2 techs who told me that theres a problem with the coil which they can fix within an hour.

I called reception again to get me shifted to another room. They ended up move me to a bigger room (actually i was upgraded to a studio).

Turned on the a/c 10 degrees, left it on for the whole day as i was out... Went back around 10pm, the room doesnt feel like 10 degrees at all however its cooler than the first room. I couldnt be bothered to ask them to move me anymore... :-(

Disappointing Stay

The moment I entered the room then bathroom, realised that the handtowels were missing. So I requested for handtowels & an adaptor to charge my phone. I had to call housekeeping again & it took a while bfor someone finally arrived. He came with 2 handtowels which was great, with 1 adaptor. After charging it for abt 15 mins, I checked my phone before I went to bed and realised it was not charging. I tried it on different power sockets but it still didnt work & could tell the adaptor was very loose, hence I had to call housekeeping again to get another adaptor. I had to wait longer & ended up to go to bed very late.
My stay was ok & check out was ok until I realised that I forgot to take my daughter's dress that I hung in the wardrobe. I had to call hotel and asked about it. It was very disappointing as the staff told me to wait & wait, call again in 15 mins but never did. I had to call them again. They said they were checking; they could not find anything in lost and found; nothing in the wardrobe. I started to get annoyed as I was very sure the dress was left in the wardrobe. It must be the person who cleaned the room who knew or found it; kept it for him/herself, who knows???!!! They said they couldntcontact the person who cleaned the room since his phone was switched off. He didnt report any found item. I had to raise my voice as I got more annoyed. It was clear to me that the dress was stolen. The next day they called me n found the dress. a miracle? Food was mostly cold

Don't stay on the 14th floor

I got a real shock when I opened the door to my room on the 14th floor. Very tired and grubby. The shower water wouldn't drain and the hot water wouldn't come out of the tap. Towels thread bear with grease stains. The staff were very nice when I asked to move rooms and the Receptionist even looked shocked when he saw the room. The room on the 11th floor was better, though a bit of 'exit mould' spray on the bathroom tiles wouldn't go astray. The breakfast was fine and the staff were very nice. My internet would come and go at times but I think this was a problem with the ISP rather than the hotel.

Stayed 4 nights with my family in 3 different rooms and all were very nice with very good facilities and excellent views of the city. The hotel is conveniently placed in central Jakarta. Lovely pool area, nice restaurant and the service was excellent, always helpful and very polite everywhere in the hotel, a 4 star hotel in every way....can't fault it! We were there to visit my daughter who's working there for a year and if I go again I will definitely stay in the Menara...which I suppose is the best recommendation you can give any hotel! A++++

Before I book a hotel, I had listed hotels in Jakarta to show my Indonesian customer to recomend me a good one. So this hotel was to stay. It's not fancy at all, though practically the hotel had a really confortable bed(not soft ,not hard, just enough), and offered good breakfast ! ( I hadn't expected at first ) I could see why so many people on business staying there. Most importantly, its staff are friendly and helpful. Great budget hotel! but do not expect anything fancy (like furniture)
