Staff were wonderful. Charming, old style hotel. Beautiful grounds and perfectly situated. Rooms very tired despite the rustic charm and bathrooms need a desperate clean. Sink and shower didn’t drain. Mosquitos immensely bad and bed nets full of holes. Understandable that mosquitos are abundant but other hotels seem to manage. Still, grateful for a quiet, pleasant stay and the generous, kind staff.

Santai was peaceful and serene. The snorkeling was fabulous. The food was fine. The service great.
Is isolated from main beaches, so need a driver or scooter.
Better than many of the negative reviews that I read pre trip.

Our room was located at the back of the property, close to the road. There was a lot of traffic noise at night and then early morning, and while outside the control of the hotel, there was road work construction during the day which meant relaxing in the room wasn’t possible. I feel that it should be communicated when booking at the sea view cottage. The room was clean and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.

The staff are very kind and nice. They try their best to accommodate the guests. The breakfast is very generous. They bring a tray of coffee and tee to your balcony early in the morning. These are the only things I liked about this place. It is way over prices for what you get. The main issue is cleanliness, on the first look, it seems clean but not really, everything is run over like the cushions on the balcony are very dirty and stained. I would not sit on them. The room although huge needs serious cleaning. The sheets are old and a bit smelly. The out side shower is full with bugs especially at night, and the bugs find their way to the room. I could not leave anything open. The door does not really look so you do not feel secure. Add to all this the noise. No isolation. So could not sleep for 3 nights. The room is advertised as ocean view but you hardly can see the ocean.
The WIFI does not work so you need your own Internet. The hotel is so far from the main places in Amed s you have to walk up and down hilly road with no side curb for almost 20 minutes in the heat. Grab does not really work in Amed. I had to ask them to organize a transport for me to Sanur, and the price was very high. I would not stay in this hotel again. The place have potential if the invest in some renovation and serious cleaning and dealing with infestations. One staff member will tend to the restaurant, make coffee and reception so you should wait for the poor soul to run around. I really loved the

The location of the property is great! We had the ocean view bungalow which was nice to see the ocean and hear the waves. The only downside is the pool is right in front of the bungalow so we heard the guests that were hanging out by the pool.

Ocean front oasis in Amed

We loved oir stay in an ocean view bungalow at Santai. The bumgalow waa comfortable and clean,, with nice touches including comfy furniture on the front porch, morning coffee delivered to your room, and a lovely carved wooden headboard and mirror. The food was excellent and tbe staff was friemdly and helpful.

Beautiful hotel, authentic bamboo structure with wonderful view of the ocean, staff were very nice too.
The only downside was the noise, there's a very noisy live music bar close by that kept us awake until midnight, there was construction going on that was still happening when we were there even though the note in the room said it was supposed to be done by that time, and you can very vividly hear the nearby road in the room.

A lovely little hotel!

This is a lovely little hotel. Nice bungalows in a beautiful garden and a great pool. The people are
helpful and the restaurant is serving excellent food. The breakfasts are very special. They are served at your table .. no need to run around trying to find your eggs at a buffet. This is more civilized. The hotel
is right on the beach and you can snorkel right there. I saw all kind of beautiful fish no more than 100 meters from the hotel. But .. the beaches here are not of the golden sand type. But rather grey pebbles.
I stayed for three days and saw no reason to leave the hotel except for jumping into the sea to look at pretty fish. The hotel has everything you need. A great place to relax!

Heaven on earth. It had everything you can think of. For a layback hotels. All the details have been well thought. The little houses are very clean and comfortable. The staff very alert and nice. The food was excellent. Very relax place. You can snorkel right in front of the hotel. The desk can organize any tour or massage. Our only regret is that ee did not stay long enough.

Worse place in Bali and false advertising

Very noisy rooms and low standard it the 4-5 star hotel that it’s advertised in all the major websites
We have booked for four people and only 2 towels provided.
Linen with hair and stains
Room lock Brocken no one borthered to change it
Ants in the bed (green ants they bite)
Extra bed was a mattress on the floor
No one tried to address any issue promptly and/or professionally
We left after the first night
Very unsafe for kids
The hotel it’s old and very decadent
The sea its amazing and worth a visit but stay in different hotel

Airport Shuttle is NOT Roundtrip

Staying at Santai Hotel was very enjoyable and they were very helpful with booking activities. There were a few occasions were I felt the staff or the drivers took liberties to get extra money out of us. On one tour, the driver/ tour guide told us we needed to hire another tour guide to see rice fields. The description stated the guide would already be included, but had to pay extra when we got there. We also found out (the hard way) that the airport shuttle is not roundtrip as advertised and had to pay quite a bit more on check out. They would not talk about the confusion and insisted we pay. The trip was great, except for the ending suprise.

Nice hotel close to the beach.

We found all hotel staff very friendly and attentive. Our room was initially pretty dark and they went in and changed the lights making it much brighter.
Pool was nice and the food and drinks at the restaraunt were very good, the best we experienced in our trip to Bali.

Pure relaxation

We had the most wonderful stay at Santai for just one night. We were welcomed with cold drinks and towels by very friendly and helpful staff who spoke brilliant english. Our room was lovely a four poster bed with our own balcony, very private and rustic. The hotel is right on the beach and we enjoyed fantastic snorkelling in the area. The little touches the hotel added were lovely, like having fresh tea and coffee left out on our balcony in the morning before we went down to breakfast, and overall the food was fantastic too we had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Would really recommend this boutique hotel to anyone in the Amed area.

Sleepy little bungalows by the beach relax you!

Great, tiny little hotel. We stayed in an ocean view bungalow. Opened right onto the pool. The location was amazing, and the room was old Bali.

It was an incredible value and relaxing in the extreme.

My boyfriend and I had such a great stay here. The location is amazing. You can walk right out onto the beach. The room was so cute. I loved the porch and eating breakfast up there. In the morning you wake up to coffee and tea waiting outside for you. It was so nice. The bed was conformable as well and the room was kept very clean. They arranged snorkelling for us which was awesome and so east to arrange with them. I can't say enough nice things about the staff. We unfortunately got into a pretty bad motorbike accident when we were there and the staff helped us out so much! Pena, a gentlemen that worked at the reception desk, really stood out. He went way above and beyond to help us out. I can't thank him enough for his incredible generosity. I don't know what I would have done without his help and the help of the other staff! We would stay here again in a second. I highly recommend!!

Nice hotel in Amed. A couple issues but good.

Hotel was fine, maybe a little overpriced. Very nice staff. Very good restaurant. Has a swimming pool. Room was nice, but staff never came by in the early evening to do mosquito mitigation. We got a lot of bites during the night.

My family and I had a fantastic time at this wonderful hotel. The hotel staff are friendly, welcoming and accomodating and the room and facilities were excellent. ThE on site restaurant has excellent variety in the menu, is comparitively cheap and the food was some of the best we had in Bali.

Add this with good snorkeling just outside the hotel and we had a winner

A relaxing spot by the sea

The ocean view bungalows built of trDitional materials have a verandah from which you can watch the sunrise, see the local fishermen coming and going and experience the sea breezes. This hotel is set in lovely gardens with a great pool and an open air restaurant which offers decent food. The staff go out of their way to help.

Peaceful, great location to beach and pool.

Loved most everything. The staff made up for the things that went wrong. Clean, fast housekeeping, plenty of towels. We had 4 rooms so great for a group to use. Loved the pool, my friends enjoyed the spa treatments, we all liked the restaurant. All in all a good stay. An issue I had was with booking on line with Expedia. The hotel did try to help straighten it out. I would recommend.

Lovely hotel close to beach.

I enjoyed every moment of my stay at Santai. The rooms are spacious and well cared for. The garden is exquisite and an absolute joy to observe. The restaurant is excellent with great food and great service... one of the best in the area The little spa is situated virtually on the beach, and the combination of the ocean's gentle sounds and the well-trained hands of the masseuse made every massage a great experience. The shower provided hot, running water all the time. The air-conditioned room provided a veritable cool haven during hot sweltering days. The large swimming pool surrounded by trees and positioned close to the restaurant and the beach was great. The hotel is close to some great snorkeling spots. The only negative was that the road running past the hotel and all through Amed is a bit noisy, making sleeping in the rooms closest to the road a bit of a challenge sometimes.

Enjoyed staying at this Comfortable Hotel.

I really loved staying at this hotel on the beach. The rooms are in villas that are modelled on traditional Balinese design with a high roof. The villas are set within well designed garden where the vegetation provides each villa with some privacy. We stayed in the \"deluxe\" rooms which are at the highest point of the incline leading down to the beach. These rooms look out over the trees to the sea and because they are above the tree line experience a cooling breeze. I stayed at the hotel March 2014 which is the beginning of the \"dry-season\" we had very little rain and not many mosquitoes at all. Our room had air con and a fan. The large bed had a mosquito net and the shower and toilet area were open to the sky but also private with wonderful plants growing in it.
There is also a pool for those who may not wish to swim or snorkel in the calm sea on the door step. The restaurant serves good food and there is pool side service.

I looked at a lot of places online, and then checked them out a little when I was there, and I'm happy I chose Santai. We had villa 8, ground floor, which was good for privacy because it was at the end of the row. The room was quite comfortable, even had a minibar. The restaurant is SUPER! The best food we've had in Bali. The restaurant is also lovely, as is the pool.

Prachtig hotel met leuk uitziende cabins, erg goed eten en zeer vriendelijk personeel. Minpunten: 1) Weg vlakbij met veel accelereerde scooters;
2) Veel trapjes, daarmee minder geschikt voor mensen die niet zo goed ter been zijn;
3) We waren er in het regenseizoen, de kamers waren erg klam.

Personal wer sehr freundlich.
Sauberkeit im Zimmer könnte besser sein. Das Bett hat sehr muffig und alt gerochen. Das Kissen war unglaublich hart. Moskito Netz ging gar nicht richtig zu und es waren sehr viele Moskitos im Zimmer, da die Türen nicht dicht waren.
Frühstück war a la carte und lecker. Pool war klein, aber ausreichend, da es nicht voll war.
Lage direkt am Meer - zum Schnorcheln super. Equipment kann man direkt im Hotel ausleihen.
Die Lage ist nicht so sonderlich schön. Zu Fuß ist eh alles sehr unpraktisch, weil es keinen Fußgängerweg gibt und die Straßen sehr eng und kaputt sind.

Wir hatten eine gute Zeit im Santai Hotel. Die Bungalows sind nicht im absoluten Top-Zustand, aber es ist in Ordnung. Für ein paar Nächte zu empfehlen, meiner Meinung nach ist das Personal und die Lage das beste an dem Hotel!

Virkelig hyggeligt hotel ved stranden.

Et virkelig dejligt sted med direkte adgang til stranden.
Husene er virkelig hyggelige og komfortable og med god plads. De halvåbne badeværelser er nydeligt indrettede og med kig til stjernerne. Husene ligger i en pæn beplantet have med en fin pool.
Om morgenen serveres kaffe/the på egen terrasse kl 6, så man kan nyde solopgangen over havet.
Personalet er meget venlige og hjælpsomme. Kan virkelig anbefales.

Ok hotel that needs a little bit love

This hotel has seen it’s best days and needs a little bit love. Staff is nice but unfortunately the bungalows are worn down. They should be fixed and cleaned properly. Probably covid has effected the hotel :/ It can be seen that the hotel has previously been romantic and harmonic. We had much cheaper and better hotels during our holiday in Bali but this one has potential also if it was renovated and cleaned.

Amed is small and not so crouded place. Nice little get away. There are good snorkling points nearby.

The restaurant menu should be shortened and food should be made with fresh ingredients.
Local meals were the best in this restaurant.

From hotel you can order great taxi driver (Robby) for day trips.

C’est un lieu de rendez-vous pour la plongée et le snorkeling, mais la région offre peu d’alternative. L’hôtel est bien entretenu et les maisonnettes sont coquettes mais un peu petites pour 4 personnes. Le personnel est très souriant et avenant.
