We had a sub basement flat and it was great value. Spacious and near the pool. Could do with some sprucing up in terms of furniture etc but nothing to spoil our stay. The hotel restaurant is what makes it for us. Great food and staff. Best cocktails and the best spaghetti ever. Coffee is superb too. We asked the hotel to leave two pizzas in our room as we were arriving late and nothing is a problem for them. Location is absolutely wonderful on the beach.

Hotel is very nice , rooms are big , small kitchenette and fridge very convenient , cleaned everyday … nice lady at checking in and out … helped us discover some local places as well .
Little supermarket on the the hotel side 1 min walk .
Or u can go to the main SYNKA 2 min by car , 10-15 walking .
Free parking
Beach is clean and amazing.
Sun beds and table cost 15 Euro by the beach or free on the pool.. we bought our own umbrella 25 euro and left there :)
The restaurant is amazing with good prices and quality and staff were nice .

We did enjoy our stay at Golden Bay. The apt was nice. There were a couple issues that would have made the stay nicer...One of the doors to the patio had only one hinge, so it couldn't safely be used. It should have had a sign on it for safety. That door also didn't have blackout curtains and make it hard for the kids to sleep because of the lights on the property all night. Didn't tell me until the last night. I thought it was just the sun in the morning. It would have been really nice if there had been dish soap and dish towels for the kitchen area. We did use the kitchen. It worked fine. The pool area is nice, and the loungers have the best cushions, but so limited and not enough shade. At the beach you pay 10 Euro for 2 loungers and an “umbrella\". We went out to try one morning, but all were already taken. We didn't try again. Food at the restaurant was good but took a while and sometime took a while to be recognized by staff to order if not sitting in the restaurant. They do work long hours and are pretty busy. Water is less expensive if you take away. We got lucky with parking. It wasn't too bad during the week, but weekends can be harder to get a spot. It is a public lot for the beach. Other restaurants and grocery in walking distance.

Evagelia and Olga were absolutely amazing, they were happy to answer any questions we had and assist with everything. They are the face of this accommodation and should be commended for the excellent work they do and go that extra mile with a smile on their face. The property is in an awesome location and if i was to return, i would be definitely going back, the view and location is to die for. Clean and comfortable accommodation, loved everything about our stay. We will miss the two lovely ladies, you made our stay that one level better, thank you

This hotel must have been good at some point, but it feels like it's running on fumes now. I heard a staff member say there are doubts as to whether they will be operating next year.

The not so good:
We arrived to trash in the walkway to our room, which wasn't cleaned until after stray cats had had their way with it overnight, and we had to report it to front desk.
Information on cleaning schedule was shared incorrectly. We only found our later that towel service was every second day, so dirty towels left on the floor were picked up but not replaced on alternate days.
The room floor was also covered in sand on our arrival. I understand it's a beach front property and some sand is bound to get into rooms, but I would have assumed it would get cleaned, at least when there is a turnaround in guests in each room.

The positives:
Location and the beach in front of the hotel are great.
There's easy access to Chania, and also attraction further west.
Hotel staff were generally helpful and polite.
The restaurant at the hotel is quite good.

This was a great value for a family. The room we had was great, although we had issues with the A/C but not the end of the world since the weather was not extremely hot. Pool area was lovely. Would have been nice to have an iron in the room but instead we hung what we needed to get creases out on the patio and the humidity and air naturally straightened it out. The restaurant was excellent, the service was exceptional there and the staff so pleasant despite that you can see they work very long days. The beach is lovely and lots of nearby areas to walk and eat. Was unimpressed when the hotel staff on day three started to ask guests for $10 euro each to use the sun beds which was stated no where (they only asked when it was sunny!) . That really put us off, we didn’t pay and laid on the sand instead. Overall though a great stay, room worked well for a family.

Had a really amazing holiday here, great location on the beach and always had available beds around the pool when we went. The staff were really friendly and plenty of restaurants around the hotel within walking distance. Reception were more than happy to book taxis for us to get to the old town which was lovely to visit for food, boat trips and a couple of museums on the cloudier days.

The hotel offers everything listed and more!! The views from the hotel's beach are amazing!! The staff are very kind and accommodating. The restaurant is delicious, there's plenty of variety for breakfast, and the cocktails are great! The room has many amenities, it's spotless and spacious. I booked an in-room massage service, and it was truly great and relaxing. Also, very convenient. One thing not mentioned online is that right under the hotel, by the beach, is a convenient store with a little bit of everything you'll need to relax at your stay. Lastly, if you take a walk around the area, there are plenty of nearby delicious restaurants that are worth a try.

We really enjoyed our stay! The location is great. You can walk along the beach, there are many restaurants and it’s a short walk to the main road through town. We traveled with 2 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 12. The suite is set up with one bedroom and a living room with two couch beds. Each kid had their own bed. We also had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the beach. Beach has chairs and umbrellas for a small fee. The restaurant serves great food and the service is amazing. I only had two small “complaints”. 1) the wifi in our room wasn’t great. However it was better at the pool and beach. 2) the room was a little tight on space for our family of 4. But we were off doing activities and swimming so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Overall, excellent stay and I highly recommend staying here!

Negative:

- I booked for a standard apartment with sea view. Well, they gave me a room, with swimming pool view and very behind, if you went very outside the balcony you could see the sea a bit.
When I talked to the receptionist about this, they assumed it wasn’t a good room but they said they couldn’t do anything as the hotel was fully booked. After insisting and speaking to them for about 30 min they offered me to come back the day after as they were going to have another room with a better view of the sea. They also offered an upgrade to a higher category and sea view room BUT with an additional fee per night, which was supposed to be free because this was a VIP hotel.

- The room should be described as “partially sea view” which would be more accurate, because it’s very far from the sea and the view is partially.

- Wifi it’s terrible and they said it’s because wifi is only available in common spaces, not in rooms.

- there were ants on the kitchen table and the floors, and I didn’t have food at all.

POSITIVE:
- Location is good, a lot of restaurants and shops near the hotel
- it has its own beach
- the restaurant is one of the best things at this hotel. Good food quality and nice people!
- The proper sea view room was very nice, except for the ants!

Great Family Hotel in Crete

Our visit at Golden Bay was perfect. The room was clean and had a huge balcony with excellent views of the bay. There was a great pool for the kids with plenty of pool floats and toys to borrow. There was also access to the beach and a wonderful restaurant on site. Also, 15 minutes to city and 30 minutes to airport. Highly recommend!

We booked what they claim to be the best room/apartment in the hotel. However, the AC of the bedroom was not working the first 2 nights! Yes there was another functioning AC in the living room, but even with the door opened was not able to cool down the bedroom. Imagine July in Greece without AC. And although we raised the topic to the hotel right when we arrived (and noticed the issue), it still took them 3 days to fix it - they sent someone in the first day that didn’t solve anything, the next day we complained again and nothing was done and only on our third day after sending an email to the hotel, they finally resolved the issue for our final night.
Additionally, the hotel looks overall a bit dated and noisy, if you stay in one of the rooms close to the street (on the side of the beach bar).
So although sunset views are truly amazing, all and all definitely not worth the money we spent there!

Rhe reaort was lovely. It was in a great location on the beach, with nice pool and helpful staff. Our apartment was not finished however. It had a hole where the extractor fan was supposed to be, an empty unfinished space above the wardrobe and no leaning cloth or dishwashing liquid/tea towel to be able to use in the kitchenette.

Very nice and clean family room but without enough space to tide your clothes..also no shampoo only small soaps..
The aircondition on the kids room was not working well, we should keep it working for hours in order to be cool enough! As we complain but nobody came to fix it!
The beach there is amazing with beautiful view!

Really lovely hotel on the edge of a fantastic beach. Fab pool area and bar. Lovely rooms. We were in a semi basement one and it was fab as it was lovely and cool. My only comment was that the kitchen could do with a few more plates, glasses, mugs and cutlery in.

Ideal for families as great safe bathing beaches on the doorstep.
Great for a relaxing beach holiday.
Chania 1.20 Euro (prepaid or E2 on bus) on bus you can catch 50m from hotel.
Taxi rank nearby 8 Euros to Chania.
Not many sun beds by pool and 10 Euros for a couple of beds and a brolly on the beach but as long as you are aware of this it isn’t really an issue.
Try the other beaches only a few minutes walking distance away for a nice change of scenery.
As mainly a family resort don’t expect a vibrant nightlife but plenty of local tavernas and then enjoy the sunset.
The food and drink at the hotel beachfront was good if you didn’t want to venture out and a great place to watch the sunset.
Sad to leave really.

Superb suite, right on the beach

Golden Bay Suites are one of the best we've had in Greece - spacious, stylish, very comfortable, well equipped. The complex also is very welcoming, with a very good pool and a first-rate snack bar, with other restaurants nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Agios Apostelos town is a bit disappointing, being just a suburb of Chania, without a center of its own. But bus into Chania stops within site of the suites, and runs every 20 minutes.

I recomend this hotel

This hotel is perfect if you have kids. The beach was very quiet (we were there end of may) its on a bay, so kids can enjoy the sea safely. Its right on the beach. There is a kids playground behind the hotel. Attached to the hotel you have a little market were you can buy everything you need. There is lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel is in a quiet town but lots of grocery stores and restaurants near, even a family restaurant. You can take a bus to the town, there is a bus stop behind the hotel. There is also train trips for 20 euros from behind the hotel to go in the little towns nearby for visits. The person at the reception was very kind.

Golden Bay Suites - September 2017

I had an amazing room with a direct, unobstructed view of the beautiful beach. The little kitchen was perfect for preparing little meals until I went out to enjoy the local nightlife. The room was modern and extremely clean and comfortable. Eleftheria in particular at the front desk was so helpful in planning my transit to/from the airport and in giving me tips about things to do in the local area. I would definitely stay at Golden Bay Suites again!!!

We were recommended this hotel and it certainly is in a great location. Close to Chania town but on a sandy beach.
The hotel staff were lovely and the hotel in general was modern and very clean. The exception to that was probably the room we had booked a semi basement room. The room was dark and dingy and had not been updated. The bathroom was tiny. We upgraded to another room and were much happier but obviously it put the cost of our stay up.
I would urge customers to check on their room status before arrival.
Having said that we had a great holiday there and would recommend it to friends.

Beautiful apartments - modern, clean and spacious - very comfortable with new, well maintained fixtures & fittings. well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Room cleaned every day. Towels changed on request. Right next to beach; close to taxi rank and bus stop. Bar reasonably priced and a great place to watch the sunset. Pool area always clean and well-kept. Staff were so friendly and helpful - always keen to do as much as they could for you. As with all eco-friendly hotels, there's no hot water early in the morning because they use solar power. Free wifi had good reception in the room. Air conditioning was free and worked well, not noisy.

An Awesome Place

An amazing place that felt like home the minute we arrived (well, once we checked in). A perfect location, right on a beautiful strip of beach. The on-site restaurant served good food from early morning to late in the evening, drinks as well. This is the only stay on our our three week European trip that had a coffee maker in the room, very welcome for us North Americans who need their daily ration. Even though it is a ways out of town, the bus passes within a few hundred meters and is only slightly more than one Euro per ride - much better than driving to town! A perfect spot for someone who wants to be in a quiet neighborhood, but desires easy access to activities and town.

1) l'autre personne assurant l accueil s est montree tres desagreable
-> en tant que voyageur solo, elle ne souhaitait pas garder ma cle de chambre pour que je puisse profiter de la plage et de la mer, cela ne lui coute rien et cela constitue un simple service..
-> elle tenait a ce que ma chambre soit liberee le jour du depart a 11h au lieu de 12h comme stipule sur expedia..je n ai pas cede

Skønt hotel med en vidunderlig beliggenhed. Lejlighederne er lidt kedelige, og sovesofaerne i stuen er meget hårde. Ydermere mangler der lidt knager, hylder og kunst. Men beliggenheden, med den gode strand og restaurant på hotellet trækker meget op. Vi havde 10 dage på hotellet og havde en balkon som vendte den „rigtige vej“ som er i skyggen når det er juli måned :)

Tolle und große Wohnung mit schöner Aussicht. Die beiden Schlafcouches waren sehr breit und bequem. Die begehbare Regendusche sauber und modern.
Die Lage ist fantastisch. Zwei kleine Mankos sind, dass die Liegen am Strand nicht inklusive sind (10€ zwei liegen und Schirm) und die Küche keine Minimalausstattung wie Salz,Pfeffer und Öl hat. Das sind aber wirklich Kleinigkeiten.

Fantastiskt läge vid stranden! Snyggt och familjärt hotell med grön och fin utemiljö. Trevlig pool och bra service!
För en familj på 4 tyckte vi att lägenheten var i minsta laget och hade önskat bättre utrustat kök. Rummen var något mer slitna än vi förväntar oss men helhetsintrycket ändå positivt. Tex saknade duschen en vägg/draperi så allt blev blött när man duschade.
På det hela taget ett mycket trevligt hotell för den som söker ett lite lugnare område med hög komfort och nära till lokalbussen till Chania.

Bon séjour malgré quelques déceptions

Bon séjour globalement. Quelques petits bemols: nous avons bénéficié d'une chambre non-rénovée de l'hotel. Le mobilier était ancien, de la peinture écaillée. La kitchenette etait inutilisable. L'ancien frigo incorporé etait HS donc nous dispossions d'un frigo en plus dans la chambre. Frigo qu'il etait nécessaire de débrancher si on voulait se servir de la bouilloire.
D'autre part, peu de transat disponibles autour de la piscine, certains réservés dès le levé du jour. Quant à la plage, il faut s'acquitter de 5 euros pour un transat même si vous residez à l'hotel.
Cependant, belle plage, et hôtel à 15 min en voiture du centre de la Canée. C'est peut-être l'ambiance hotel qui ne nous cenvenait pas.

Spacious, lovely stay. Apartment was spotless and hotel by the beach.

Only negative thing was the beach in front of the hotel. There were only like 5 random chairs and no umberellas at all, it could have done some raking too. Reception wasn't open all the time, but it didn't brother me - it was still fairly quiet.

Everything for the good vacation

Nice renovated hotel with good location and excellent beach. Clean rooms and spaces. Friendly staff. Also excellent restorant with good food, drinks and services. Easy way to Chania's downtown with shuttle bus. Easy place for vacation.

Et rigtigt ferieparadis

Golden Bay Suites blev valgt grundet aflysning fra et andet hotel.
Det var en meget fin oplevelse for min familie og jeg at gæste Golden Bay, flotte omgivelser , dejlige suiter som var top fine. Golden Bay var perfekt til vores familie udflugt på 9 personer i aldre fra 1,5 til 74 år. Placeringen på stranden var ideal.

Ravis de notre séjour

Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine au golden bay. Très belle plage de sable en pente douce avec un très beau coucher de soleil. Piscine agréable avec une partie pataugeoire pour les enfants.
Les appartements sont spacieux avec une bonne literie.
Bon accueil des hôtesses qui nous ont aidé à appeler un docteur.
Quelques restaurants aux alentours mais il faut 15 minutes de voiture pour aller à la Canée avec toutes les distractions souhaitées.

Nous avons résidé 8 jours à golden bay, l appartement était très propre, tres bonne situation géographique, nous sommes en face de la plage ce qui est très pratique avec des enfants. Les parties communes étaient très bien entretenues, joli piscine et décor extérieur tres sympathique. Concernant les points negatifs, malheureusement il y en avait... en raison de la crise sanitaire, le ménage était fait tous les 3 jours... donc des serviettes propres tous les 3 jours, pas de micro ondes dans l l'appartement ( avec de jeunes enfants ce nest pas pratique) il n y avait pas de kit ménage, rien n'était fournis pas de sac poubelle, éponge ect...
L accueil est ouvert de 10 à 17h donc en cas de besoin ce nest pas pratique. Les prix des cocktails et softs drinks au bar de la pisine nest pas donné... 2.80 euros le limonade de 25cl.

Wir hatten eine wirklich wunderschöne Zeit. Das Hotel ist sehr sauber, das Personal stets freundlich. Die Zimmer werden auf Wunsch jeden Tag gereinigt und sind dann auch wirklich sauber. Zusammenfassend war es ein perfekter Aufenthalt für uns in diesem Hotel.
