What was good:

Staff were excellent at reception and for both breakfast and for dinner. The location was perfect in the old city.

What was not so good:
The room was hot without any capacity to change the AC temperature and stayed hot even after turning off heater. Opening the balcony door did nothing to help reduce the heat in the loft bedroom. The lack of cushions or side tables for the couch made posture sitting a bit hard. Light in the hanging cupboard couldn’t be turned off. Fridge was tiny and not much room for personal drinks or food.

Georgia welcomed us so nicely. We had traveled long and far it was so nice to have a human actually be there to welcome us (Francesca, too) as opposed to emailing a password no to enter the facility and here is your room number; essentially on our own in a foreign country. That made a huge difference to us. We highly recommend this hotel.

Palazzo Calo was fabulous. Excellent location in the historic area. The hotel is renovated and in excellent condition. The loft rooms are very comfortable and lots of size. Parking at Jolly Parking was easy and close to the hotel. (30 euro and in and out is allowed) breakfast was perfect and the welcome drink in the lounge was a nice touch.

The staff - Francesca at the Front Desk was very helpful. We let her know our friends were arriving early the next morning, she arranged for the room next to us and had it ready for check in by 9am. Amazing!
The hostess - Viviana, in the breakfast area was the most hospitable person we met on our trip ( 3 different hotels). Great breakfast with many local options.

In the middle of the historic center, 7 min walk from the garage; very nice room and breakfast. The room was not ready by the check-in time due to maintenance. We waited 2.5 hours to check in, no water was offered and when I asked if we could have our welcome drink (prosecco) while we waited we were told the bar (?) was closed. Overall a very nice place but for that wrinkle.

Lots of pluses but some things to be aware of

Positives:
- Great staff: friendly, helpful, very responsive to requests
- Location: Near main sites & places to eat
- Comfort: good bed & pillows. AC worked well
- Lighting: Good in the bathroom especially over the mirror (easy to apply makeup)
- Good wifi
- Nice shower: rain can & handheld
- Thick bath robes
- Full length mirror

Negatives:
- Location: while convenient for sight seeing it was hard to access the hotel for arrival & departure as the historic centre is closed to cars during part of the day & even when it is open there is no road directly to the hotel (must drag bags 20m over uneven cobblestones (harder to do than it sounds)
- Breakfast: limited options & little change over several days. More fruit would be good
- Lighting: while good in the bathroom it was extremely limited in our room
- Room had a balcony but there was a plant at the access door & no chairs outside - our idea of having a drink on the balcony was not possible.
- Safe: on a bottom shelf - hard to reach
- Palazzo Maurelli: Slow elevator & stairs are metal mesh. If you have vertigo or are afraid of heights the stairs might be an issue
- Palazzo Calo: Former guest terrace is now a restaurant so there is no area to sit outside (terrace on Palazzo Murelli is very small with 2 uncomfortable chairs so we did not use it
- Bistro on the terrace: very small menu lacking a vegetarian option

Stayed for two nights at the end of a hectic trip round Puglia. Perfect relaxing end to an amazing holiday - great staff and facilities. Had an early start for a flight when we were leaving and they organised an airport transfer and left a ‘breakfast to go’ in our fridge which was great. Had a meal in their rooftop restaurant the night before our early start which was perfect

Great location to discover Bari!

The location is absolutely the best to be in Bari Vecchio.
Close to everything that you want to see.
Our room was in Palazzo Maurelli, a building right next to Palazzo Calò.
Spacious, bright and antique but with all the modern comforts.

It was super fun to stay in the old town in Bari- walkable to so many great shops and restaurants on the sea. It's kind of amazing how this old historic place was retrofitted to be made into a modern hotel. While we were there the air conditioning went out in our room and it was super hot. The bed wasn't great and there were lots of stairs. We did feel like the hotel had great service and a nice breakfast. If you want the old world experience- this is for you. If you are looking for a 5 star resort- this is not it.

Great location just inside the wall of the old city. The restaurant food was fabulous. Besides breakfast with as many cappuccinos as you want as well as pastries, we also had dinner in their restaurant. Outstanding entrees and desserts!! We had a room with a loft where a comfy bed. However the stairs up were quite steep and their were no spindles below the railing making it tricky coming down them. The front desk provide us a map of the inside walls of Bari with the must see sites. Great anchor spot to settle and take day trips. (Alberobello is worth a visit. We did it by bus and it was a bit tricky to figure out the schedules) We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was in a great location just on the outskirts of the old city. This made it really easy to walk around and when we had a car we just pulled in just down the street to load luggage. I will say you have to be conscience of when you get your car in there if you're using one since they close it down at certain hours. The hotel room was very large for the one we booked. Overall, we would definitely stay there again, the place was great and the staff was very helpful!

Both my wife and i could not both have hot shower in the morning told too many people taking shower meant not enough hot water. Room very dark more overhead lighting would help. Did not change bed linens during our four night stay. Tissues in suite would be a good addition.
Francesca at front desk was incredible. Helped us get a parking spot in garage even though her shift was over. Thank you Francesca.

The taxi could not come to the door. You had to trundle your suitcase over cobbles. Breakfast was mediocre. Never enough bacon. The
Coffee machine didn’t work for 15 minutes.
We had reservations for Calo Hotel but they put us up in a different building which was not nice at all.

We stayed on two separate occasions on our way to Ostuni and Matera and on the way back. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Did really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. The rooms were impeccably, clean and quiet with a small kitchenette and a really nice shower. We decided to dine at the bistro on a Saturday night and the experience was excellent. The bartender made one of the best Aperol Spritz I have had in Italy. We enjoyed very much our interactions with Cristina and Claudio.

The commons areas are attractively designed. Breakfast is quite good. The room has a safety issue as the stairway is with open risers, only a banister and needs balusters as there was great open space.
The room had only one window which could only be opened a little bit. We could not access the room’s thermostat. The bathroom had neither a window nor a fan. The shower leaked horribly onto the bathroom floor and had no shelving.

Lovely renovated hotel in the middle of old town Bari. The room was comfortable and spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with sweet and savory choices. The bartender was excellent.
We took their recommendation to park our car at a lot about 15 minutes walk from the hotel to make it easier for day trips. The streets in the old town are very narrow and closed to traffic at times during the day

The property was able to give me the feel of old world Bari and new world Bari. The staff had great restaurant recommendations and mapped out what I should see in the area. The locals were great to direct me to the correct door when I wasn’t paying attention. Luxury shops were in walking distance. I only stayed one night but having a kitchen was a great amenity I would have utilized if I stayed longer.

Like many of these properties in the historic areas - they are all different. The layout for our unit was unique with the bedroom in a loft area separate from the sitting area and toilette. The entry is “tight” and also unique - helps to be physically fit to be able to maneuver that. It was fun for our short stay but would be difficult for less fit people.

The hotel is in a fabulous location. The staff was very helpful in arranging a reliable taxi for us at 3:30AM. The breakfast was nice. The rooftop deck is beautiful. There were a few non-critical items in our room that didn't function as they should. The bed was really comfortable.

Sweet little hotel in old town Bari. My only issue was that the side we were on was next to a metal staircase. Quite a bit of noise from other guests that climbed up and down the stairs. Right outside our door. Other than that, we really enjoyed the property. The breakfast was good every morning and we really enjoyed the rooftop area with a bottle of wine for the sunset.

The hotel is in a great area and well located near sites, restaurants and activities. It’s quiet.
The building is really cool. Breakfast was great with hot food constantly replaced and a nice coffee.
Staff are really nice people.
There is an elevator making it easy to get your luggage to the room.
There is an after hours room code process which works well.

On the downside, the bed is a bit hard and pillows are super hard. The cabs cannot get all the way to the hotel so be prepared to go a short block with your luggage.

We had a short break in Bari, Calò Palazzo was the perfect location. The staff were all extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The location in the old town was perfect with plenty of authentic places to eat & drink close by. The room was perfectly comfortable, clean with much needed air con. Great location in Old Town, and close to the main attractions in Bari. The room was spacious, but could have used more shelving in the bathrooms and storage for luggage/clothes. The AC worked well, which was awesome because it was very hot outside. The bed was our least favourite, the mattress was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Breakfast was the standard European fare but it was sufficient for us! The breakfast staff were very friendly.

This is a must stay at property! It is perfect… Staff, cleanliness & easy access to restaurants & port. We stayed here just 1 night prior to our cruise but if we come back, we’re definitely staying here. Roberta greeted us when we checked in, she was super friendly & very thorough when showing us around! She also called and scheduled our taxi for the next morning. Continental breakfast was yummy & easy serve yourself style. The gal servicing the restaurant was so wonderful! Also very friendly & sweet! It was a wonderful experience!
