A fantastic place to stay in a very cool neighborhood. Close to the Gyoen National Garden too which we enjoyed. Close to some great food options as well, try the Waygu Samurai a few minutes away for an awesome culinary experience!

The house manual was very helpful since the appliances were very foreign to us and we would have struggled trying to use them without help. The staff spoke English and we were able to converse easily even with my limited Japanese skills .

My only slight complaint was the bed, I know it's a matter of personal taste but the bed went past firm straight to hard. It was very effective to make sure I got up early to sightsee though. Maybe have a slip on mattress cover available for those of us that would like a softer bed?

I want to stress though that I will still be back and I am very happy with our stay and it wasnt a huge problem though.

We stayed in a two bedroom unit as a family after reading so many (surprising) positive reviews. We found the location lacking. Nothing decent was nearby and had to walk 20 minutes to most anything. The unit looked very nice when we first arrived and more spacious than most Japan rentals. However, it was deceiving. The shower was absolutely terrible, the laundry meant that you hung the wet wash in the laundry room and turned on the heater?! All the items felt cheap, the most thing towel and toilet paper I had come across. And you can literally hear everything. Every footstep it felt like. It was kind of a nightmare. We left early.

Quiet Kyoto Neighbourhood Gem

Four Sisters is a very well-run apartment hotel located in a quiet Kyoto neighbourhood.

There are lots of good quality bars restaurants, cafes bakeries combinis supermarkets etc all within a five-minute walk.

It's only a short walk to public transport which means the amazing sights of Kyoto are readily accessible.

We stayed a two-bedroom apartment on the first floor that was very clean and spacious and well appointed.

My family of two adults and two kids really enjoyed our five-night stay at Four Sisters and would love to stay there again.

Kyoto Four Sisters Residence was a wonderful place to stay for our visit to Kyoto. Conveniently located and easy pick up/drop off spot for Go-Taxi. There are many wonderful places to eat close by and it was not on the main street which was great. The sweet bakery next door was perfect for breakfast grab-n-go, especially for our little children.

Check in and out was so easy. Communication with staff as well as email was quick and efficient. The room fit our party of 6 very comfortably and felt like home away from home. I highly recommend staying here. We will certainly be staying here again on our next visit to Japan.

The staff were very welcoming and explained a lot of what we needed to know from the start. We loved the no shoes policy!
The room was spacious and having three rings to cook on was brilliant.
Inside the room was a booklet with lots of information about the residence and things to do locally.
There was an option to have an upper body massage by a local therapist, which was very relaxing.

We enjoyed our 3-night stay at Four Sisters Residence. Our apartment was spacious and tidy. We especially liked that the bathroom had a large sink and has a great drying system that can dry clothes overnight after wash. The toilet design was good for the environment and was clean. We also like the kitchen that we can cook our own meals. The location of the apartment is also great that it was close to the supermarket, train station, and bus stops. We loved our stay and will definitely recommend to others.

This is our second time staying at this property, and we love it. My family keeps asking to return to this property. It is literally a home away from home. We buy groceries and cook food at home, as well as walk around to the local restaurants. The bus stop and subway stations are a short walk away, and it’s easy to get to Kyoto Station or Karasuma area. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Kyoto.

They also offer a spa treatment that you can easily schedule online. It made our trip even extra relaxing. Can’t wait to return again!

This place was a great find. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They received our luggage and had it waiting in our room for us when we arrived. This was more like an apartment, so we had 2 bedrooms, with 2 large beds in each room, that could be shut off from the main area. There was a living room, full kitchen, and dining area. It was nice to be able to do laundry also. This allowed us to not pack a lot of clothes for our trip. This is in more of a residence area, but subway, bus, and grocery store are all within walking distance. Staff was helpful with calling us a taxi when we needed it until we figured out how to use the Go Taxi app ourselves. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

The accommodation is in a quiet residential area close to the subway and other sites. The room was very clean and in good order. There are lots of notices in the room about being considerate by not talking loudly and quiet times from 9pm to 8am. However, we seemed to be the only ones observing this well intentioned instruction as other guest simply don’t. On our stay we were awoken or disturbed by the people above who clearly had kids running around upstairs and the room connected to ours a baby screaming! This was a pity because there was no road noise and everyone in Japan seems to be considerate. What doesn’t help is that the reception is on minimal hours, i.e only operate when you out site seeing! So when you want to ask them to speak with the noisy customers they are no where to be seen!

We were expecting better than the experience we received given the price. Having to constantly ask for coffee sachets was another tedious task. We only wanted enough for 2 cups a day, but you had ask for refills! So nice place but not as good as we had expected:-(

Hands down, the best place we stayed in Japan, over ~3-week trip. Absolutely wonderful. The fact that it's situated in a quiet residential area cannot be overstated - for those who need some sleep;) We didn't cook, but kitchen at this residence was the only place our of all we've stayed at, which would have allowed for it. Everywhere else, cooking would have been difficult (by western standards); here it would have been totally doable (plus, there are several grocery stores nearby). The only suggestion I'd have for the ladies is to have some light in the bedroom closets, they're a bit dark.

Good size apartment with all the amenities to make you feel at home. The reception team were really helpful in welcoming us on our first day and walked us through the local area map pointing out restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores and the local station. They also helped with receiving some packages that I ordered on Amazon and filled in all the forms for forwarding our luggage to Haneda Airport. Would definitely stay here again.

A very nice basic property. The receptionist assisted us to book Xmas dinner at a restaurant for 8 people. We had 2 bedroom apartments; washing machine and clothes dryer was well used over our stay. Small kitchen with fridge and freezer. Easy walk to buses, trains or supermarkets (7eleven, lessons). Beds were comfortable. Nice quaint area, very quiet. Walking distance to Kyoto palace, public transport required for other tourist locations (but generally just a bus away (or bus & train). There were bicycles for rent at the hotel, we did not use them, Would recommend anyone wanting an apartment to stay here.

Almost everything was fantastic. From the kitchen, to rooms and the bathroom, everything was great. The rooms were gpod size, clean, well maintained and well equiped all round. It felt really a home away from home.

The bathroom doubles as the clothes drying room too as the bathroom system has a heater/ventilation/dryer feature. Though I might still had preferred a dedicated clothes dryer machine, but the workflow still happen to suit me well and this was the first time in cold country where I can feel warm after a bath in winter.

The staff were helpful too, able to provide us with baby high chairs etc. And were very polite.

Maybe one issue was that the main hall's heater was not really strong enough to heat up the hall, kitchen and ensuite room.

Convenience stores, supermarkets and train station were ard 10 minutes walk away (I was with a toddler). The surroundings was very peaceful.

We had a lovely stay at Kyoto Four sisters Residence. Their property is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and easily accessible to busses and the Karsuma Line (Subway). We stayed at the one bedroom. Our unit has a washer (and uses the heating feature in the bathroom to hang our clothes to dry). The property is very well maintained and for longer term stay, you can even rent a rice cooker from them! Aya from the front desk was able to reserve a Kaiseki dinner for us at Tategami, Kyoto Style Japanese Restaurant. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. The waitress was able to explain each dish with limited English. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and will stay here again if we return to Kyoto in the future.

I really enjoyed how this property gives you a local vibe. I didn’t see many other foreigners in the area, it felt very local.

The area felt safe and we had no problems checking in and checking out.

The room has everything you need if you plan to stay for a long duration. They have a washer and you can dry your clothes either in the washroom or outside in the balcony. A kitchen and also very spacious bedroom, living room.

I especially enjoyed their shower and tub which was very relaxing after a long walking day.

One down side, its a little of a further walk from the nearest station.

This hotel was a surprise. We have never been to Kyoto and didn't know where to stay, but this hotel had friendly staff who helped with sending our luggage to Osaka (our next stop) and the apartment was very spacious with separate rooms and comfortable beds. The location was ideal, next to cafés, restaurants and public transit. Bus stops are nearby. The drying room in the bathroom took some time to figure out but after washing our clothes, the room dried our clothes perfecly. I wish we had these in the USA! I would stay here again.

Our two bedrooms apartment was spacious and everything was perfect. It was my pre-birthday trip and the hotel had a special decoration for me, very thoughtful. The hotel is located in a very convenient place. When we went to and from Kyoto station with our luggages, we chose to take a taxi. The taxi fare from Kyoto station to the hotel was about 1600 yen which was very reasonable. Other time, we just took the metro which was 5 minutes away from the hotel. We had a very pleasant stay in the hotel. I will highly recommend the hotel to everyone who is going to Kyoto.

This was an amazing place. Its a mixture between a hotel and a rental apartment. I loved it because it has the convenience of a hotel and gives you the feeling as if you are living in Kyoto like a local.

Loved it!

Loved this place! Full two bedroom apartment with full kitchen and clothes washer. Very clean and helpful staff! If you don't mind taking the bus a few stops to the center of town, you can't beat this property! Exceptional value!

An exceptional place in Kyoto

This hotel is exceptional. A very modern, super clean and appointed room. Our room included two bedrooms, four beds, a full kitchen, living room, large bathroom, and washing machine - which we used. It felt like a top boutique hotel, very unique. English speaking at the front desk, very helpful as well. We loved our stay at this hotel. Highly recommend it.

Walked Kyoto.

We were shown to our room where all the amenities were explained. Having a washing machine and drying room was helpful.

A number of maps were left to show where the points of interest were, as well as local supermarket.

Coffee and pastries were available in the morning.

Good location. Easy walk to Imperial Palace (closed on Monday) and Edo Castle. The temple trail was a bit further but still walkable.

Great hotel and very friendly staff. The staff spoke English and were always helpful. The washing machine and drying racks are very convenient. Just FYI there is no dryer so when doing laundry you need to plan accordingly.

Spacious property with living room and kitchen. Kitchen comes with utensils, cookware, fridge and also microwave. Suitable and convenient for family and long stay.
Around 7 to 8 minutes walk to subway which can be bit tiring for elderly but overall we enjoyed the stay very much.

Small superb hotel.

Great little hotel with everything very new and ultra modern. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apt which was well equipped and spacious complete with washer but no drier. Room serviced every 3 days but enough towels given to last between cleanings. Medium sized supermarket 5 minutrs walk away plus close to subway. Great attentive staff with good English. Recommended strongly.

This place was great! Especially for the cost. It was a full apartment with two bedrooms, three beds, a full kitchen, living room, large bathroom, and washing machine. Super close to bus to boot. Honestly, I could live here.
