Room was very clean. The Sheets changed every day. Room was always tidy. Bathroom was clean every day shows attention to it. All appliances were clean and new. Air conditioning worked perfectly. The only problem\"\" No fox American English station on TV. Only CNN and Blumberg business. The breakfast and offered were plenty and coffee was excellent (two machines) Pancakes,Scrambled Eggs Tomato and Sausage. Fresh fruit,Butter for toast,Rolls,Bacon.Very tasty.For the price for a room who get allot for your money! YES. I reccommend this hotel.

The hotel was fine except for one thing.The aircon. It was not possible to control it for our convenience, it was locked at what the hotel thought was adequate. Also , it was switched off completely during the night, ensuring a terrible night sleep,, or lack of it. I would not recommend.

Why no reading lights by the bed - only that horrible overhead light? Does no one need a bedside light anymore?
Also, having the property call a taxi for you is a rip-off. I was charged 10 euro for what was a 4 euro trip the day before. Do they have some kind of deal going? A total rip off.
Staff was nice, but with the negatives, I wouldn't stay there again.

Good value hotel, in a quiet but central location

We stayed at the Kasteo hotel twice. First for two nights , then stored our luggage there and returned in two days for two more nights. The second visit we stayed in the fifth floor that had been completely renovated. It was beautifully redone with séparer shower and toilet rooms, large closet and very comfortable king-sized bed. We also had a bit of a view of the sea from up there.

2nd stay at this lovely City centre hotel. Staff are great and rooms very clean. Good beds and A/C. Lovely roof terrace to catch the sun too. Breakfast not the best but the location more than makes up for any shortcomings. 1 minute and you are in the centre and close to the port. We will be back again

Kastro Hotel has an excellent price-quality ratio. I felt really welcome, the room was nice, very clean and comfortable, it had everything to make me feel good. The bedding was perfect. There is a nice breakfast buffet included. The hotel is located in a quiet street and only a short distance from the city center where everything is… It was my second stay and whenever l need to stay in Heraklion l will go back there for sure.

The place is very clean, the amenities are good, it is quiet, the free breakfast is nice. The lady at the reception was really welcoming and efficient. Second time in Heraklion and we didn't have to think twice where we would sleep. The hotel has great location inmidst the city centre with lively streets and uncountable eateries just around the corner but in a small quiet sidestreet at the same time. The breakfast is good and diverse, the staff competent and polite and the rooms clean. Great value for money.

Great value for your money

This hotel is a great stay for the value of your money! It was very clean, the breakfast was big consisted of wheat rusks, fresh baked croissants, Bread, delicious yogurts, ham and cheese slices, hard boiled egg, cereal and milk, chocolate muffins, Fresh squeezed orange juice and a latte. They serve it straight to your table. We will be booking this place when we leave Crete as well.

Kastro Hotel sits as the face of modernity on a small quiet street in Heraklion.
It was a pleasant surprise to be so quickly connected to some of the main streets and sights in the city (less than 5minutes walk) although it felt like it could have been miles away.

Wonderfully helpful staff and nice room. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Only reason this isn't 5/5 is that we reserved a non-smoking room and the room very strongly smelled of cigarettes. Signage in the room showed that it was supposed to be non-smoking, so it wasn't that the staff put us in the wrong room, but the smoking rules were not enforced.

This hotel was ok. It is almost impossible to get there by car and drop bags off as one way streets completely full Andrea hardly any room to get by. With Cab may be ok. Very close to port and city centre.
Room smelled musty. Bathroom clean and bed comfortable. Staff helpful. It was okay for a one night sleep.

Tiny bed for two in their double room!

Good breakfast but below standard room with a tiny bed up against a wall. I feel whilst we booked a standard room we were put in a single and when I asked to change I was informed that is standard. I wouldn’t recommend if that is the case. Bathroom had a sewerage smell as well. Well located to walk down for a nice seafood dinner though.

Worst stay ever!

When we checked into this hotel, the manager informed us that due to a previous blackout, the air con system was not working. The weather during the day was in the mid 30s and around the high 20s during the night. When we got into our room, it was obviously very warm. we tried to open up the windows but as we were the room facing the main road the noise from the nearby restaurants and cars and bikes driving through meant that it was extremely loud. I went to the manager to ask whether he had a fan or anything to help, and he was extremely rude and dis-interested and basically said \"Too bad\". He offered no solutions and options to us to help us feel more comfortable in the room. The level of customer service this guy provided was extremely poor!.

This was a modern and nice hotel in the center of Heraklion. The room was modern and up to date and spacious, the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom a little small but adequate. The staff were very helpful and helped us arrange a car rental with insurance for our tour of the island for a moderate price. The breakfast selection was good as well. Overall a happy experience.

Stayed at the Kastro for one night after a long cross island drive. Ideal place to recover ahead of onward trip to Santorini. The staff were excellent and the room very comfortable with air con and strong shower. Hearty breakfast provided before heading off. Would happily stay there again.

This neat little hotel is in the heart of the city. The staff were super friendly! The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and it was ok (nothing extraordinary). Our room was also very quiet, although we were in the city centre. The Wifi and AC worked great, which is always important :-)

This is a disappointing hotel. Be aware.

This is one of those hotels with hidden fees, for example it charges for the safety without any reason. The toilet was broken, and the friedge was broken. Not all rooms have balcony, and we were the unfortunate couple to get it. Many other options, around, and we didnt go un high seasson, so no excuses accepted as a customer.

Parking in Heraklion is a nightmare. Go to Rethimion, thats a beautiful city, or Chania. This hotel was the low point in our visit to Crete.

Very welcoming staff who were very helpful throughout. The sea view is from the roof terrace not from bedroom. Our room overlooked a busy narrow street. Comfy beds; AC; kettle etc.
Very central for sightseeing; public transport; town centre; restaurants etc. 2 minutes to sea front. Knossos very close by bus. Breakfast is fine and all you need. If you hire a car it needs to be parked in one of the car parks as the narrow roads and high pavements are not great.

One night only

Used this hotel as a stepping stone as we had a late flight in. To get here from the airport was only 1 euro 20 on the bus (get off at 4lions square) and took about 15-20mins then 10min walk to hotel. Lots of places to eat nearby even as late as we were we still had a lovely meal at Central Park restaurant.
The hotel had everything for our needs. Breakfast was particularly good with a large selection of hot and cold options. We had hired a car to be delivered to the hotel however parking is very difficult close by so we had to do the paperwork in the lobby then our man phoned his guy to drive it to the hotel. I had to jump in and drive off and find a spot to park down by the seafront then return for my belongings!
