Likes: Good location with a nice view of the lake (from the BF floor because our room did not have outside view), walkable to many cafés and the city night market which was blocked to vehicle traffic and has entertainment from some street life musicians, and friendly staff.
Dislikes: dated hotel and so-so breakfast.

I'm not sure why this was rated so high. Yes the place was clean and safe. However the rooms are very outdated. There are alarms on each door and they will go off everytime as the crappy doors don't close properly on first try. The lights go off at all hours of the night and wake you up. While yes the location is very central which is what is advertised it is very very noisy. You can hear traffic that doesn't stop throughout the night. If you have a \"lakeview\", even ear plugs won't help. I also don't think there is a spa (did not see anything there). Overall it was just average with some annoyances with noise and doors. I definitely dont think it deserves an 8 rating more a 6.

Stayed 2 nights in 3rd floor presidential suite.
Huge Master bath with adequate shower and bidet. 2nd room with 2 double beds.
Terrible TV reception and no non Viet channels to choose from.
Nepolianic theme in reception area (silly extravagance).
Small kitchen with modern refrigerator and an older microwave oven.
We could not figure out how the turn lights out in reception area.
Very noisy with street noise and construction noise.
Party on Terrace level(2 floors higher) was loud and the bass sound vibrated until past 10 PM.
Generally 9.0 million VND / night. We got both nights for 9.0 million and it really wasn’t worth it.
Breakfast buffet was okay with usual additions. Coffee was nice and strong.
Short walk to Cho Da Lat.
If I was to stay again would choose a room not facing the lake but really, there are so many other better choices in Da Lat.
I rate the stay a C (3 of 5 stars)

Good location, must book the city view, we got the hotel back view. Sigh! And one miserable small window!. We require a fan as it was not cold enough for comfort. Sleep with the fan on the whole night. Maybe the toilet needs an upgrade . I asked for airports transfers . Arrival - A new Merc. Departure- an old Toyota - felt cheated because it was the same price ! VND 705K. Also there is no need to change the tooth brushes everyday!

Another customer unhappy with the noise

We thought the room looked lovely when we booked in but the noise from the bar right across the road from our room kept us awake until the early hours. We asked to be moved and were shown a room at the back of the hotel which was not nearly as nice but what we really needed was sleep. We didn't realise that the extractor fan was not working neither was the plug in the bath and there was mould and dirt in the bathroom. We did actually wonder if the restaurant was open for dinner as we never saw anybody in it however we decided to give it a go on our third night. I do not expect staff to speak Enlish but if I point to 4 items on the menu and only one of those is served I realised why there was nobody in the restaurant. Having finally given up on desserts I asked for a hot chocolate and was told I could only have tea or coffee. We have stayed in HCMC and are now in Hanoi Dalat was supposed to be a rest break. One of the worst hotels I have stayed in

This property is a Three star property. It is dated and could use an upgrade. The staff was attentive and polite despite some language issues.
Pros: Location location location
Cons: It is extremely noisy from the street. Beginning at 1130PM a nearby karaoke starts and a lady sings (sounds like a dying cat) until 2:30AM. There is no way to lighten the noise and a peaceful sleep is impossible. I am surprised the hotels in the area allow this.

The noise is so bad that this hotel is a \"miss\"....

Firstly, it was our honeymoon and they gave us 2 single bed. When asked to change to a King sized bed, we were asked to pay. In the end, we decided not worth the money.

Next the room was facing the river, but don't be fooled by it. Before you see the river is the bust main road. It was really bad to keep hearing the horning of vehicles throughout

Contacted hotel 4 times by email re airport shuttle - no response. Deluxe Lake view room - telephone and phone charger did not work. I HAVE NEVER KNOWN A NOISIER HOTEL - NOISE FROM OUTSIDE EXPECTED - CHILDREN SCREAMING IN CORRIDOR FROM 5.30AM!! They were as noisy in the breakfast room, where they also spent time running around. Breakfast was disappointing, dry bread, inedible yogurt or very greasy eggs. The only good point about this hotel is its location - which was good.

Easy access to friends

I have stayed at Ngoc Lan hotel about five times over the years. For me,it is very close to my friends, an easy walk.
It is always good to renew old acquaintances. The room is large and comfortable with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom is spacious, however as an ageing guest,it is not so easy to manage the bath needs some sort of support rails. The breakfast is constantly good with a wide selection of dishes to choose. I often have dinner in the beautiful dining room, which is often overlooked by guests which is a pity because the menu is excellent.
Personally, I will continue to stay at The Ngoc Lan whenever I am in Da Lat, it is my hotel of choice, knowing the standard of accomodation being offered.

Very nice location with a good view of the lake easily accessible to restaurants and main market. The staff are very helpful and try their best to satisfy your need. A few recommendations for further improvement had been made and hope the management will look into them. This is our second visit and would like to come back again.

Great place to stay - amazing view from room

Stayed 4 nights in a deluxe balcony room with amazing view of city and lake. View is magic from sunrise to sunset and the lights at nights make it just the best. Room was very clean, large and everything worked. Buffet breakfast mainly for local Vietnamese tastes but I found enough choice to satisfy my fussy tastes. The artichoke tea that is offered on arrival at reception as a welcome is great - it is also on offer at the buffet breakfast. Staff always smiling - very friendly - no complaints about this hotel at all - would not hesitate to stay again. One thing is noise from the market below and the traffic - but I knew about this in advance and still booked a room with a lake view - if noise bothers you then get a room at the back BUT you will miss out on one of the best views.

nice hotel in the central of Dalat City

There were 5 of us and we stayed at Ngoc Lan Premium for 3 nights. We went sightseeing during the day and the afternoon when we comeback, we walked to the market to shop then we went to eat dinner. Everything is located 5 mins from the hotel. It was super convenient and comfortable.

this is a lovely building along side many other hotels! the rooms have french shutters & i was lucky to have a corner room. the wood floors are slippery with so much polishing! the views were lovely from the top floor restaurant where breakfast was served. the food variety was acceptable but nothing special. they have a gym which is the highlight although no water or towels were provided it's there which was good news!

Great hotel. I stay here every time I am in dalat. However the drinking water they have at the hotels now, does not taste good at all. It is a new thing. They told me it has sugarcane mixed with it, but it doesn't taste like that. But when I mentioned it to the staff, they told me that was all they had, however when I next got to my room, they had replaced it with Aquafina, which is normal drinking water. So this was good. The Ngoc Lan hotel may want to get rid of that other water, it does not taste good and I'm sure people would not stay again if that was all that was on offer.

Ngoc Lan is a classy older hotel with a fine location close to the lake for early morning walking. Also close to many restaurants and to the huge DaLat Cho (market). The breakfast is fine. I would award five points except that it lacks air conditioning. Of course, DaLat is less hot than most of VietNam.

Nice hotel in lovely location

Ngoc Lan hotel is a lovely hotel with lovely surroundings and plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. The main large lake is very nearby and you are able to hire a swan boat and travel around the large lake at your leasure.
The main downside is it is very noisy from the local restaurants and the noise goes on until the early hours of the morning.

The hotel is perfectly situated on a small hill with the front facing the lake. Our Jr. Suite had a wonderful view. The windows are a bit dated so did not have much sound barrier to the street noise. The area was built to resemble a European hillside village. It has such potential and could be quite charming. Unfortunately, the city let the trash pile up and the sidewalks unwalkable; a general lack of care. Disposal and fresh paint would go a long way to improve the beauty of the town. We hired a personal driver who was great at showing us the sights.

Three night stay (first time) in Dalat. Chose the Hotel for its central location - good decision. The markets were a stone throw away. Chose a Deluxe Room for the size. Another good decision. Received a front facing room (217 on the second floor) overlooking the lake. From the balcony we had magnificent views. Obviously the traffic noise was loud. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Found the breakfast food in the restaurant average, nothing special. Only real downside was the Internet - it was totally useless.

We stayed in DaLat for 3 nights. The hotel is in a great location across from the market and the lake. It was nice to have a balcony but chairs would have been good. The view of the lake is lovely. The breakfast buffet was very good. Service at dinner and breakfast was not as good as it should be. The waitress forgot us for a time at dinner. And they put the bottle of wine at another table and then forget to pour it. We finally got up and put the bottle on the table. During breakfast it could be hard to get the attention of someone to order a capuccino. But really the overall stay was fine. We were able to book a driver through the hotel to drive us to Nha Trang which was very convenient.

1)Nearly all ad-hoc requests made turned down by main reception. Manager/assistant would cite \"hotel policy\",comfortable with \"no, we can't help with that\",even smiling nicely and expecting you to buy the most ridiculous reasons like they can't send cutleries to guests in rooms as forks/knives pose danger.threat.Currency exchange, asked to change $110 but receptionist said only had enough VND to change for $100,said we can change the $10 at goldsmiths.Ad-hoc requests easily fulfilled at even 2-star hotels in Hanoi/Nha Trang would be turned down here. Put it this way: \"attentiveness\" is 2 over 10 for international 4-stars.For 2-stars,it would be 5 over 10 at most.It's that bad, they simply don't attend to requests other than very basic ones like change of towels.2) Shortages. A few umbrellas only on standby for a hotel in Dalat that rains/drizzles frequently.No adaptors to lend, no extra heaters in storage to lend to guests on cold days when requests come in.At this hotel, when they say they don't have something, they imply they won't be following-up. 3) Severely understaffed. Restaurant: 3-4 waiters at buffet breakfast, so tables uncleared more than 10 min after diners left.Plates cleared once or twice during 1-h buffet.Reception:2 staffs only after 11pm, room service breakdown. 4) Try Best Western nearby, at lower price, does slightly but clearly better.Simply,popularity with locals has led to complacency,hence low service standards which foreigners would not find acceptable

Not only is the noise loud from the street, it's loud from the halls, from the construction, from the bars going all nite. Don't expect a good nite sleep here. Too bad, because the buffet breakfast was impressive, and the location is great. Hotel staff screwed up one of our tours, goofed up a couple of our other plans.

Very centrally located 3 star hotel. We had a lake view room which gave us good views of part of the lake and the night market area.
While some comments say that rooms are very noisy, ours wasn't too bad except for the occasional tooting of car horns. The room was large, simply furnished, good sized and wel appointed bathroom. The advertised gym facilities were very basic.
Breakfast was more than adequate and nourishing. Checkin was business like and we found reception staff to be helpful, especially as we don't speak Vietnamese .
There are ,any great coffee shops close by, opposite the hotel in the same street, and further up the street you will find Windmills and a block away further One More Cafe.
We tried a number of restaurants close by and food service and quality was variable.
We went on the historic rail line ( great), the Botanical Gardens, wandered aroun the architecturally very interesting street and laneways. We hired an English speaking guide for a long half day to explore some of the countryside. This was a good way to gain a greater understanding of the historical, social and economic influences. This was quite expensive compared to other guides we've hired in Vietnam .
Dalat is well worth a visit.

This hotel was the least favorite of our stay in Vietnam. With the exception of a terrific waiter/bartender in their restaurant I found the staff not to be very friendly. We were on the 3rd floor lakeview room - the view was lovely, but it was very noisy (faces the front of the hotel) and the air conditioning was a portable unit in the room which made noise when it switched higher and lower during the night. The spa was interesting - it was in the basement adjacent to the parking garage - not really welcoming - but the young woman was terrific and the rooms were very clean. Breakfast was very good.

The hotel is perfectly located in the centre of dalat overlooking the lake. Although we did not manage to get lake view room, our room was big, elegant and with balcony. Try the tea in the room is a real delight! So we bought a pack at reception!! overall an excellent stay!

Very nice and classy hotel

Hotel look very modern and clean. Room was nice. Weather was nice and cool I didnt have to open window or needed to use portable fan. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

Definetly recommend staying here.

It is a good hotel in a good location. We had a lake view room and enjoyed the balcony, but some people might find it a little noisy. It would have been nicer if they had some chairs and a table for the balcony. We used the desk chair and asked housekeeping for another one. They brought up one from a banquet room, but it worked. We improvised a table using the laundry basket. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful over the lake.

Overall the breakfast wasn't that great, but there were some individual dishes that were good.

Nice hotel in the city center

good hotel , clean no ac due to dalat weather, breakfast was good and the most importent it is sutting on the city center, the only thing was that it was lightly hot and we cant open the window
Because of muskitos( window without net, the window was small.

It was a great hotel and had everything we needed! It was in a great location too!

We had some trouble with the hotel we were staying in after this one and the staff were so helpful in getting it fixed - they really were great!

It was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed.

dalat was one of the best places we have seen in Vietnam. Many good sights to see. weather was nice in january
