Nice hotel, but bad location

In Beijing for business and my local colleague recommended the hotel.

Got upgraded to a suite and the room was gorgeous. Throughout the stay, the staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the hotel amenities.

I’m glad that the room I booked came with the use of the lounge. It solved most of my meals in those few days as the location of the hotel was not ideal. There’s was no shopping malls or food options in the immediate surrounding, making the hotel fairly isolated.

My room though big, was facing the train tracks. Being a light sleeper, I couldn’t sleep for the few nights as the sound from the moving trains were loud throughout the day, and late into the nights. The sound proofing of the room devotedly needs improving as apart from the train, I kept hearing noises from other rooms often.

I stayed one night here (upgraded to a suite room). Woke up in the middle of the night around 3am itching all over. I thought it was mosquito but no… something in the bed sheets caused me to have severe hives for the next 24 hours. I switched to another hotel and now the hives are gone.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The service was great and any issues I had were resolved quickly.

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious and had everything you could ever need. Complimentary bottled water was very much appreciated.

The housekeeping was lovely - one of them even folded my clothes neatly.

My bathroom flooded when I first used the shower but it was quickly fixed and cleaned by the staff.

The only thing I could complain about was the design of the room. Because there was a window pane and a large desk blocking the window, it was very hard for me to open/close the window and blinds. I had to climb up on the desk so I could reach the handle and curtains.(see photo)

I ordered takeout a few times and had to go downstairs to the lobby to get it - delivery drivers weren't allowed up (which is understandable) and the hotel staff didn't do deliveries, unfortunately. This was a minor thing but would've been nice not having to go downstairs every time.

I used the gym during my stay and it was nice and clean. There were free weights which is quite rare for a hotel. I really appreciated the cold towels from the mini fridge - it was a nice way to cool down during the workout. All the machines were for upper body though - would've been nice to have some lower body machines too.

excellent customer service

i forgot my passport, cards, and some cash in the safe of my room when i checked out. i realized it 4 hours later at the train station. i called the hotel and the lost and found department sent two people to retrieve these items and even offered to send it to the train station so that i could take the train. i decided to leave items in their office until i come back. two weeks later i come back and get these items without any problem. really appreciate the excellent service of the hotel!

Serviced my business needs just fine.

Well kept property maintaining a good standard of cleanliness. I've stayed at several Crowne Plaza's in China, and the cleanliness/maintenance can vary considerably. If you English is your language of travel, you'll find other brands will be able to service you better. If you have made efforts to speak some Chines, you'll be just fine. Hotel is next to a mid-range shopping mall, with some dining options and a grocery store in the basement. If you're in search of a pub or lounge after a long-day of work, you won't find much around here.

Great conference hotel. Far from center of town

A great hotel. Offers all amenities. Large rooms. Comfy bed. Fast wifi (though subject to China content filters). Nice breakfast and four in house dining facilities including the lobby bar that offers late night snacks and a surprisingly nice Internatoanl wine selection. There's a shopping mall across the street for further dining and shopping but don't expect neither fine cuisine nor bargains.
Gym is fully equipped and machines in good order. Pool available too.
Location is on the 3rd ring, about 30-60 minutes from airport and about 20-40 minutes to the major tourist attractions at center of town. Airport metered taxi about 90-120 RMB depending on time and exact route (tolls included).
If there's one downside to this hotel it is that except for that shopping mall next door, there's nothing to do or see in the neighborhood. Everything is a taxi ride away. I was there for a conference so proximity to airport is a plus, and except for a 1 hour exploration at that mall I did not set foot out of the hotel. But if you're in for a tour of town - the location is not perfect. Nothing walkable.

Beyond amazing stay in Beijing.

My stay here was beyond amazing! Check-in process was efficient and the lady was also friendly and allowed me to checkout late (by 2pm) on my last day of stay without any additional charges. The room was beyond my expectation — it was spacious, had a mini bar, a huge bathroom with deep soaking bathtub, workspace area, lounge chair by the window and super comfortable bed complement with a pillow menu! Room was also really clean, which I appreciate.

Apart from the amazing room, I would love to shout out to the concierge from helping me store my luggages and hailing cabs for me.

Breakfast was also scrumptious, though not the best I’ve tasted; notable, there was a wide selection so I am sure everyone would be satisfied!

Lastly, I will love to give special mention to staff Amine and Alice from the lounge bar. I’ve spent both my evenings by the lounge bar, and was serviced really well by Amine and his colleagues. It was really nice to be able to communicate with someone who can speak English and understand the pain points experienced while traveling in the beautiful country. Once again, thank you Amine and Alice for your exemplary service!!

P/s: a lady pianist plays beautifully by the lounge bar on certain nights so be sure to catch her if you would love to wind your evening up with a bottle of good champagne!

The room was nice, large room and chairs very comfortable. The lack of a mattress made for a little discomfort sleeping. I know Asia tends to go with a thick mattress pad over box spring, but I felt this was high end enough hotel to have had a mattress.

Breakfast and Internet dissappoints

The variety of hot food at buffet breakfast has gone down hill compared to my Dec 2017 visit. They also stopped replenishing the hot food after 0920 which is still too early given they are opened until 10am for breakfast.

The hotel Internet has also gone worse. I can connect but even browsing Baidu is painfully slowly even when the wifi connection is strong and okay. I suspect there is insufficient bandwidth for everyone but it is surprising to me given that i surf the Net during the say when guest count should be low.

The last thing is that they assigned room 06xx to me which windows faces the internal meeting room level 3/4. The hotel staff or contract workers setting up the conference room floors were noisy with their shouting back and forth instead of using walkie to communicate. They created quick a rackus on 13th May. I think the hotel manager for the meeting set up should have told those workers to keep their noise level down given that there are hotel rooms facing the meeting room floor. Sad.

Decent hotel. Next to a shopping mall with lots of restaurants. But not much beyond to explore. Cabs are difficult to get in Beijing so while easy to get a cab out of the hotel, getting back proved challenging. On Wednesday night spent 90 minutes with help from another hotels staff getting back to this hotel. Phone number on the direction card went unanswered at dinner time. This compounded the problems.

Good 4 star hotel with very hard bed...

Hotel is a 4 star hotel with very good condition. Breakfast is very good, staff is very helpful. Room is large and modern. The only problem is the bed, which is solid rock hard and uncomfortable. Very hard to sleep, my shoulder hurts a lot after only 1 day sleeping there.

They also offer tours to the city, but you need to book it before (9:00 AM), otherwise you will have to take a taxi (beware if you are a foreigner, you will be cheated for sure).

Overall it is a very good hotel in a random area of the city, there is nothing significant close to it.

Very good place to stay in Beijing

I was impressed by the helpfulness of the staff, especially one of the front desk managers named Lulu Liu (Liu Lu in Chinese) who sorted out a problem with my booking and also helped with issues that came up when my flight was cancelled and I left Beijing later than originally expected. Other staff at the hotel were also very friendly and helpful. The overall condition of amenities and service was excellent.

Got upgraded to a club room with access to lounge that offers free breakfast and a daily happy hour.

Room is big and well equipped. Shower and bathtub. Free bottled water. Kettle and espresso maker. Iron and board. Tv and free wifi.

Hotel offers a nice gym, a few restaurants and a lobby bar.

Checkin/out was good and staff speaks passable English.

Location is about 45 minutes to/from airport and about the same from major tourist attractions (forbidden city etc.). Traffic may stretch timelines.

A convenient Crowne Plaza in Beijing

Expected Crowne Plaza standard. Next to 2 malls and 2 subway stations nearby make it a convenient location. Bed is nice. A/C did not make much noise. WiFi is decent. Breakfast has good enough varieties.

A comfort hotel with some specials

I had two stays at this hotel during my 9 days trip, with a 2 day gaps. The hotel is at a convenient location if you have business around East side or North side of Beijing, normally where multinational companies are located there. Also, it offers 3 free bus route for guests to those popular working spots to avoid the hassle of peak traffics in Beijing. The Hotel also host YunNan provincial office in Beijing, so the restaurants there reflects the unique local flavor of that province, which is very popular style cuisine.

The staff services is generally pleasant, but uneven. Some staff need more training to greet guest and send off guest, which was evident during my stay that need management involve to correct issues (such put me into smoking room, etc.). The club lounge is so so with less services offering comparing other brands (such as Marriotts), but you do get very good benefits to stay at club level rooms.

Overall, it is a nice hotel, convenient to business sites and airports, and good restaurants in hotel and near by. I would definitely recommend to friends to have a try there.

5 star hotel with 4 star service

Yo can expect the hardware to be there, but the software needs upgrading. During breakfast, it takes them more than 10 mins to bring your coffee, although you can see waitresses walking around but not doing very much; the dinging area is only about 30% full, you wonder what are they up to.Check-in staff is a bit clueless about the room avilability status when I tried checking in early, luckily another staff realises that the room is actually available. Kudos to her! They need more staff who are proactive towards customers' needs, unfortunately in China the situation appears to be likewise elsewhere, despite the hotel carries a 5 star branding you can only expect 4 star service at the very best.

Hotel is clean, spacious, hotel staff are lovely - very friendly and able to speak English quite clearly. The room was great! the bathroom was humungous and very clean.

It is a little further out from the city - however if you are willing to take a subway or taxi this is not at all a problem - the hotel staff will help you print out the address of your destination and will tell the taxi driver to ensure there is no miscommunication.

There are restaurants nearby and a shopping mall - will definitely stay there again.

When checking in the employee tells me, \"sorry but we don't have the king bed you requested, would you mind staying in a room with two single beds?\" I responded, \"I payed a very high rate for this room and you are giving me the room as you advertised it, period.\" He didn't say anything but magically, the room he said was not available, well, it was available and I got it. This hotel is deceiving. Next day I moved to another five star hotel in the same are (10 min. taxi ride); I paid 2/3 of the price for similar facilities and much better service.

I travel to Beijing often, and decided to try a new hotel during my last visit. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the Crown Plaza Sun Palace. The room was very, very nice, clean and comfortable. The best thing about it was how spacious it was. The staff was friendly, and I enjoyed the breakfast buffe in the morning. The food wasn't terrific, but enough choices for everyone. The location was ok. . . with access to the subway nearby. It was a good home away from home for one night, and I would stay here again.

Now that I visit to Beijing several times each year I find that Crown Plaza Sun Palace hotel is the very best choice for me as it is close enough to my office and on the right side of town for easy access to band from the airport. Spend the extra to stay in a club room, the rooms are good and the club lounge service us second to none.

Nice hotel and very clean. Big rooms and excellent service. The only issue was the carpet a little stained but other than that it was a very good hotel. All it needs is Location location location. It is located next to paxton shopping center (department store) but other than that no other things to see unless you take a cab.

The front desk staff needed more training on how to complete credit card transactions- chek in and check out we're not as smooth as it could have been.

Have stayed in quite a few hotels in China in multiple cities and provinces.
It seems the further north that you go the worse the condition of carpets. I actually live in Shenyang so I feel that is far enough north to judge.

Pool, gym and sauna facilities were excellent. Bellhops and porters were awesome. Generally, staff were very polite for a Chinese hotel even though their English was well below what is expected at a hotel of this level.

As far as the room goes it was well decked out and exactly as the pictures on Expedia, was extremely quiet and the bathroom was spacious with great facilities.

The bed was large, very comfortable and sheets were clean. Actually it was probably one of the best beds I have ever slept on as far as comfort.

My only complaints would be the condition of the carpets and that several lights didn't work. To call yourself 4.5 stars and have stained carpets and broken lamps just doesn't fly with me, but all in all this seems to be a common problem throughout China. Ma Ma Hou Hou (Horse Horse Tiger Tiger) as they say - which means slap happy, bodged or close enough is good enough.

There is a supermarket next door in the Parkson Shopping Centre selling the best range of Western foods I have seen. There is a nice clean wonton shop on the 7th level. Try their salads, at 8RMB you cant beat them for that price.

The subway is around 10 min walk to either the North or the South, though it seems it is easier to cross the ring road at the north.

Good For Business Trip or a Spa Weekend

This was my first time to Beijing, and the location of the hotel was very convenient for me. It is not a brand new hotel, but the facilities are standard, and the staff are very polite and helpful. The Touch Spa was relaxing, and the warm indoor pool and heated jacuzzi and steam rooms provided a refreshing break from the cold winter outside. There is a shopping mall adjacent to the property. Best of all, after check out, it was just about a 30-40 minute ride to the airport :)

the room only has a window towards the lobby inside of the building and the oppsite is a restaurant, this did not showed in the photo and mentioned in the discription. sometimes need to wait a while to get a taxi or walk out on the big street to get a taxi. it is far from the train station as well. the bathroom wasn't really clean.

Great Service especially Winnie the concierge, she was very kind on booking my trip to the great wall and follow up on this.
Subway station is quite close around 12 min walking, the problem is when you spent the whole day visiting, the distance to arrive to hotel will feel more than that. There is a complimentary service of droping off to the subway but is too early.
The food at the restaurant will be better if more occidental food were available.
Over all the rooms are good and quiet. and a convenient shopping center is located in the same facility.

little bit of heaven

i spent some time going round china and had this hotel booked as for some thing to look forwared to and i have to say it did not let me down in any way.

the staff could speak english very well
the food in the hotel was as good as home if not better
the gym could of done with a few more items but was still good
after spending some sleepless nights in rock hard beds around china it was like heaven getting into this one.
the shower and bath were very good as well

cant really say any thing bad about this hotel other than u need a taxi to go most places but all the hotels i looked at are the same

Business hotel becoming tourist friendly

Even though the hotel was a bit away from where the 'main tourist action' is, the location was very convenient to bus and metro stations. All amenities were as described. Loved the aromatherapy pillows ans oils. The staff was friendly and helpful, to the best of their English ability...My Mandarin-speaking daughter had to help many times...

The restaurants and bar are all 3-4 stars, but they are very expensive...and they do have you 'cornered' because of the location...no other reasonable walking-distance place to eat!

Best of all. I attended a business trip with my wife and the experience was really amazing. The restaurant, the service, public areas, the room is great and the business center as well.
It is not near downtown but walking distance from the subway which is good. After long days it's worth to return to this nice hotel and get ready for the next one.

I only spent one night in the hotel. Unfortunately, my sister broke her arm and we were delayed with our checking in to the hotel, however, a colleague called earlier in the day to confirm the room. The room had been paid for fully in advance also. Once we arrived to check in, they claimed it wasn't confirmed. It took nearly a half an hour to get our room and have it confirmed. It's not fun standing at the desk for such a length of time after spending the day in the hospital. Plus, I'm not sure if we wouldn't have had a friend who spoke the language if we would have gotten a room. Mainly, it didn't feel very welcoming. The room and beds were very clean and comfortable.

The hotel and staff are great. Our room was big, with a big bathroom. The shower was the best. I'm 6'7\", so showers are usually too small. I had a choice between a hand held shower head or a rain shower head, both were high enough for me to stand under the water. We could see the Water Cube lit up from our room. The location was OK. This is the only hotel in this area. Easy to travel to the sights by taxi, was a challenge to find a taxi that knew of this hotel. They have 4 restaurants and a spa on site. We would stay here again for the price ($105/night).
