I had a disappointing experience during my stay. On a cold night, I called the front desk twice because the room was very cold, but no one came to check it. I also requested an extra blanket for my mother, who is over 80 years old, but was told there were none available. This lack of response and care was very disappointing, especially given the weather and my mother’s age. The hotel should improve its guest support and ensure basic comfort items like blankets are always available.

Major construction work going on at hotel entrance area outside. Everyone must go through a particular path and cross the middle of construction site with heavy equipment going in front of you! No clear sign showing the special path either so my taxi driver could not find it and dropped off on the opposite side of the path. I had to dragged my luggage under a rainy conduction to find the path!!!! Not convenient, not save,,,

The Good: Very clean! Staff is constantly cleaning (though unobtrusively). Breakfast is ample and slightly different each day, includes cold and warm food, and coffee/milks/juices. All three elevators run quietly and quickly. Nothing is broken anywhere. Simple toiletries are provided. There’s electric kettles in room and tea and instant coffee is provided (with a couple of mugs, and glasses in the bathroom). Bottled water is set out on guest floors (in addition to being replenished daily in rooms) and hand sanitizer is available all over. There’s plenty of staff available to assist, and they are friendly, courteous hospitality professionals who will quickly assist you with whatever you need or want.

The Bad: Not much! The maids will bang on the door to ask if you want your room cleaned, despite the do not disturb door hanger and turning on the privacy light. If this fails to rouse you they will call your room nonstop. This can be bad if you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.

The Ugly: Not the hotel’s fault, but the shopping center is undergoing renovations and no longer directly connects to the hotel, so you will have to go outside to access it. There’s no longer a Carrefour or 7-11.

Summary: Wonderful staff in a clean hotel that is a bit remote from the city center (but convenient for the airport). Would definitely stay again.

Hotel is under construction from 8 am to 6 pm until the end of September 2019. Paper on the desk wrote 8 am to 12 am on weekdays, but the information is incorrect. Super loud noises even though I stayed on the 9th floor. Communicating to hotel manager was difficult and had to cancel my 2nd night stay. Will not recommend staying here.

Excellent location in Beijing, would recommend it any day. but it seems the hotel's central heating and cooling system is a failure ( I read an earlier review where the customer complained in the winter about the heating. so a definite problem). Very,very hot in the room, staff can not fix the problem except change your room to another hot room. Breakfast is great - Is mainly Chinese style ( you are in China).

I ask for early check out, staff initially said they are not in charge and asked me to ask Expedia instead, forcing me to dial back to the Expedia branch back in my home country. Expedia literally just asked the same question for me to the staff, and the same staff just said "No". Huge waste of time. I'd be less angry if they could just say "No" at the beginning. They didn't charge for the IDD phone call though.

Overall it’s okay, but confirm that all infrastructure is functional before booking.

The hotel is part of a shopping complex with a Carrefour in it. Very convenient for food and to get groceries. It's also right next to the Donghuqu station which is on line 14 of the Beijing subway system. The hotel is in the northeast of Beijing near the 5th ring, so it's relatively convenient to visit parts of the Great Wall if you have a car.

This is a great place to stay if you don't care to be in the centre of Beijing. It is clean and modern and comfortable. There is a good mall below and a pretty good breakfast. Also, there is a subway stop right out front and very easy to get cabs. Would stay there again.

I only stayed for a few hours, as I got in from my flight late and was out by 10 the next morning. It was comfortable and quite a nice room. I am not sure about the location, other than to say it cost me about 60Yuan to get there by taxi. I think there was a lot of building work going on in the area, but that is the same for all of Beijing.

Holiday Inn Huacai is a good stop for visitors as the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is very good. The biggest problem is that it is no on the subway line(closest is about a 20-25 minute walk). It is easy to get to from the airport, but it takes about an hour to get to the center of downtown by car, bus, or subway. The staff here were very accommodating. I have stayed here many times and it is very reasonable for the quality.

You get what you pay for, but...

The title says it all. We stayed there for a total of 8 days, we changed rooms twice, a total of three. First room small, second room the A/C did not work very well, the third was good. The breakfast buffet was ok, the only western item was fried egg. They had fruit and veggie table, the usual assorted juices. The other foods were rice, cabbage, noodle, not much to choose from. The worst about the stay was I felt misled about the pool and gym!! They DO NOT have a pool and gym. They have an agreement with a nearby health club. The hotel gives you a voucher, the only time I went they ask me to call ahead first, but allowed me in, they were very nice, as are most Chinese people. The pool was very crowded too, three people to a lane. I know not many people on vacation want to swim laps, so this note is for those who do!

We stayed on 2 separate occasions- the first time, the air conditioning in the room did not seem to work- the fan ran, but did not cool. The second time, we were given a smoking room, although we did not reserve a smoking room. We did not complain, since the air conditioning seemed to be working in this room. The bathroom fixtures, including faucet and mirror were pretty loose in the 2nd room. Besides that, both of the rooms were very nice and clean and we appreciate it. The hotel staff were very nice and tried to help us whenever we needed it. There was a new trainee whom we found to be especially friendly, kind, and sweet.

Great hotel near the airport

This hotel was perfect for our family, as we just needed a place to stay for one night between flights in and out of Beijing. A taxi ride from the airport is about 80 yuan. Alternatively, you can take the local bus line 6 (16 yuan per person) from the airport and get off at the first stop, which is one block south of the hotel. The building itself seems to have been remodeled recently. It's clean, quiet, and modern. The breakfast spread is very large, but beware--it is Chinese breakfast!

The hotel is connected to a mall which has Carrefour, Burger King, and many Chinese restaurants. McDonald's is also nearby. Other than restaurants and shops, however, there isn't much to do. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you want to do any sightseeing. There is a bus stop right outside, but the closest subway station is a taxi or bus ride away. My only complaint about staying here is that the hotel staff misguided us when we asked what bus to take to the closest subway station.

Room was very comfortable and the shower was great. Bed linings were clean. Breakfast was the best in all the hotels I stayed in China (in the same category). I think it is typical of what you get at Holiday inn express anywhere. My advise is if you are not sure of the 3 star hotel to choose, then please stick with this. At least you know what you will get from a holiday inn instead of going to some of the hotels who are all advertising as 4 star but are 2 star in reality.

A Good Nights Stay

The hotel is good but I had problems with air conditioner. It would not go below 24c. Probably set that way. However it is a good place to stay for just a night or two. The subway is about a 25-30min. walk. It is located in the same building as a mall which contains a Carrefour and a Burger King. The room was just what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express.

this hotel was nice, for a one night layover. its conveniently located next to food, 711, shopping mall, etc. and the taxi driver had no problem finding it. rooms are a bit small but do the trick. the AC was not working in our room, and it was dreadfully warm. we called the front desk, who sent up maintenance. he simply said that it doesn't work very well, and just opened up the window. (which we were avoiding as it was very smoggy, smelly day). it was 20 second thing, and we just felt like they were neglecting to fix the AC.

the bathroom was very nice, and the beds were comfy. if the price is right and the stay is short, do it. otherwise, i suggest hutong style hostels/hotels.

A short but good stay...

My wife and I just stayed at this hotel a couple of nights ago. The hotel was fine in every way that we saw but it should be noted that we only stayed there for a total of approximately 6 hours. We were originally supposed to stay there on July 15, 2011 but due to an Air China mess up leaving Chengdu that morning, it appeared that we would not travel that day at all so I changed the hotel booking to the following day. Sunny at the hotel graciously consented to shift the booking by a day but as it turned out, Air China finally did get their Chengdu air travel mess sorted out albeit we arrived at the hotel at 4am. Even though the booking had now been shifted a day, the hotel still accepted it for which we were very grateful. The rooms are not exceptionally large but they are nicely appointed, very comfortable, clean and quiet and the internet was fast. There was a sign in the lobby that the hot water would be disrupted for maintenance late that morning and as luck would have it, due to our late arrival it occurred simultaneous to our getting up and then checking out. Hence this was a problem for us but at least we were warned. However, our circumstances were exceptional and normally this wouldn’t have been a problem. All in all, I would recommend this hotel.

Convenient for Business Travellers who also want to see the City. Only 25 mins from PEK airport. Do not pay more than Yuan 90 ( including Toll ) for the ride, they will ask for allot more! To go downtown to visit the Imperial Palace at Tiananmen Square, take a short taxi ride the nearest subway station and then take the convenient, clean and cheap subway downtown for the experience. We took a taxi back to the hotel AFTER the rush hour, as both the subway system and the roads are jammed after work. Enjoy a relaxing Peking Duck dinner or Hotpot in Beijing, rather than sitting on one of the ring roads in traffic or worse, being shoved by uniformed platform handlers into a packed subway car ( have the video to prove it! ). Lastly, if you want to walk on the Great Wall, I recommend the section at Mutainyu, just outside Beijing. If you do it on the last day, the airport is in between the Hotel and this section of the wall. If you ask the hotel to organize a car, they will ( negotiate! ) and the driver will wait for you and keep your luggage safe in the vehicle until you're off the wall ( slide down ), then they will take you to the airport. Easy-peasy. Having lived in Asia for many years, our trip to Beijing turned out really great and the choice of hotel provided for a nice oasis.

Modern with homestyle comfort

It was way better than I ever bargained it for a 3-star. The price is way low for an international hotel ensuring the amenities this one has to offer, 24/7 internet acces, swimming pool, and is inside a mini mall convenient for shopping. But mostly, the hotel attendants are warm, highly accomodating, and has a good command of the english language. As Holiday Inn is equally known, a home away from home.

This is an excellent place to stay in Beijing. The rooms are clean, comfortable, relatively spacious at a very reasonable price. Breakfast is good with a large variety. It is close to the airport (PEK), about a 25 minute taxi ride with no traffic (very early in the morning) and a 45 minute ride with traffic (evening). It is located in the business district, but you can easily get to downtown to see the Forbidden City by walking to the subway station (about a 30 minute walk) or take a short taxi ride to the the subway station. Bottom line: It is a great place to stay for a even better price.
