Fabulous centrally-located hotel that served us well as a family during a rail trip across mainland Europe. Great breakfast buffet too.

Only snag was that we were given a wrong room on check in but this was immediately resolved.

Wonderful room and amazing view of the river

The hotel is very nice. My only issues were these: A/C barely worked if it worked at all & the access into the tub is really intended for a tall person.
My room had a view of the river and was spectacular. The bed was comfortable.
I would stay here again, but just recognize that it might be very warm in your room.

A fine hotel in central Villach

I've stayed here several times and there's very little to fault about this hotel. The location is central but with plenty of parking available in the underground garage. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipt. The staff polite and helpful. The room during my last stay had a great view out across the city. This is always my first choice hotel when I come to Villach. My only criticism is that the breakfast room can be quite crowded, although the staff do a good job at quickly clearing tables when poeple leave. In the summer this isn't a problem because there is additional seating outside.

Only odd thing was Parking. The details reference \"Self Parking\" with an asterisk. The actuality is that it is public lot that you pay for the parking ticket at a reduced rate at the Front Desk. SO just need to remember when coming and going to go to the Hotel Front desk.

Respite at the Holiday Inn

The Holiday Inn at Villach was a very pleasant overnight stay for us. It is located only about three blocks from the train station so a very easy walk. We arrived earlier than check-in but were able to store our bags for a couple hours. The room was very comfortable and decorated nicely. Both the TV and WIFI were very good. Just across the bridge over the Drava River is the center of Villach with shops and restaurants. We did not use. The restaurant, bar or breakfast at the hotel so I can’t speak to that. But, there was coffee, tea, mini-bar, and a frig in the room which was nice. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

A beautiful place right on the river Drau with a lovely bar, first class restaurant and all the amenities you could ask for. Underground parking at a reasonable rate is accessible from the hotel elevators. The rooms are large enough and well appointed and the baths are fine.

Good location for touring Carinthia.

Although the Holiday Inn is a glossy looking business hotel, it has a certain style and level of comfort for holiday makers as well as business users. Staff are friendly and helpful and evening meals are good . Nice terrace overlooking river for warmer days. Whilst they may lack \"olde world charm\", rooms are functional, well equipped to a high standard and comfortable. There's also a good bar and lounge area. Breakfast is extortionate but with plenty of cafés within a 5min walk, this was not an issue.

The decor of our room was strange but my wife thought it was OK. Who puts a toilet & a shower in a rosy colored glass enclosure?

The only odd thing that really bothered me was that, even tho we ended up having a very good visit, my wife had booked it by mistake due to a website with \"convenient alternative locations\". When we arrived with a four day erroneous booking, they said too bad, we'll charge you a one day early change fee.

Beautyful city with clean mountain air

We went in for a wedding. Having our 5 month old baby with us adds extra challenge, but hotel was well equipped for our team. Baby bed was offered at reception. Garage had a concevient access directly to rooms. Breakfast and breakfast room were both super! Why not five stars? We had a room with a river view, but there was a roof blocking away most of the river. Old town did look nice thou.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It is an easy 5 minute walking distance from the train station.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. English was also not a problem at all.
Breakfast was delicious, and the view from the terrace is amazing.
The room itself was great, no problems at all.
Overall I highly urge anyone coming to Villach to choose this hotel for their stay.
It is located right on the river Drau and close to anything you require.

The Expedia reviews had said \"superb\" but we found it far from that. This is a dated, dreary hotel that needs to be avoided. Stained carpets, small room and the odd architectural feature of having the shower and toilet cubicles within the room, surrounded by frosted glass did not impress.
We had planned to have dinner in the dining room at the hotel but it is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The positives were the friendly reception staff, the close, inexpensive parking and the hotel's proximity to the city centre. Other than that this hotel would get a \"0\".

It was a very pleasant stay! For less than 100 euro, we got a superior room with river view. The room is spacious and the shower was excellent. We were just stopping over, so didn't get to enjoy the area and the facilities in the hotel. It is located in a quiet area but still walking distance to the city center with all the shops and cafes.

We liked everything about this hotel, but for one thing. When you walk to it from the train station (very close), there is no visible sign with the name of the hotel. The only sign is on top of the hotel, but you can't see it from the street. We walked away from it twice, not realizing that it was the one we had reserved.

Beautiful room and food!

The holiday inn was a modern hotel in charming Villach. Situated right on the river banks with spectacular views of the mountains. The room was spacious and very clean with a great selection of toiletries. The mini bar was reasonably priced, we also ate in the on site gormet restaurant where the food and service was excellent and I would highly recommend. I look forward to returning and have recommended the hotel to golfing friends.

It is right up there with the standards you would expect from a Holiday Inn but the basement holds a great Gym, Sauna and Steam bath. Massage and all other wellness facilities available. Don't have the breakfast as it is not included. Just down the road several choices for breakfast. Meals as well

Nice place but consider others...

This hotel is conveniently located next to the conference center and main city center. However, the rooms have \"frosted glass\" enclosures around the bathroom so you better be prepared for a lack of privacy when using the shower or toilet...
While the location is convenient, the AC didn't work so I opened the window to get some fresh air - when you do that, the HVAC fan will automatically turn off and, while the outside air was nice, the NOISE from the street level wasn't. Clearly it was a compromise - try to be comfortable (temperature wise) with the window open and using the privacy curtain as a \"bug\" net OR deal with the inside temperature possible with the poor functioning HVAC unit. I went with the window.
This is probably the best choice due to the minimal options available unless you can identify a \"pension\" hotel that earns good marks. Many are available but cater to the German population so it can be hard to pick.
The staff were friendly but overly helpful. The parking was easy but will cost you $'s and the breakfast seemed a bit overpriced. We opted for the coffee shop next door for a roll and coffee as we aren't big breakfast eaters.

Great quality in Villach

I have stayed in a couple of hotels in Villach but this one is the best. Rooms are large and comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. Breakfast could have been a little better - there wasn't a huge choice despite the fact that there was a chef on hand to prepare fried eggs, sausages etc. Room had a river view although to be honest the view isn't anything special. There are some nice little restaurants, ice cream parlours etc in the vicinity of the bridge over the river near the hotel.

The hotel is about 5 minutes easy down hill walk from the railway station - you just go straight out the front doors of the station and keep walking until you reach the bridge over the river. If you then look up over your left shoulder you will see the Holiday Inn \"H\" above you. It's that easy to find! There is a taxi rank at the end of the road where the hotel is situated - just turn left as you walk out.

Dieses Hotel hat sehr saubere Zimmer und sehr freundliches Personal. Ein großes Problem war für uns die fehlende Ruhe. Im ersten Zimmer waren wir direkt über einer sehr lauten Lüftung im Außenbereich, die rund um die Uhr in Betrieb
war. Nach einem Zimmerwechsel waren wir auf der lauten Stadtseite. Bei offenem Fenster hörten wir bis nach Mitternacht oft laute und betrunkene Gäste von der Bar gegenüber. Bei geschlossenem Fenster hörten wir dann die sehr laute Klimaanlage, die bei Verschluss des Fensters automatisch ansprang. Erholsame Nächte sehen anders aus. Dieses technische Problem sollte für alle ruhesuchenden Gäste unbedingt behoben werden.

Leider war es zu heiss um die Sauna zu testen.
Was verbesserungswürdig ist: das Personal sollte bitte beim Check-In von sich darauf hinweisen, dass es einen Wellnessbereich gibt.
Dennoch: volle Punktzahl, da es trotz Buchung eines günstigeren Zimmers ein Zimmer zum Fluss gab und das Frühstück das Beste unserer Reise mit dem Rad nach Grado war.
