We had a wonderful stay over night while passing through from Germany to Slovenia. Breakfast was very good. The setting in Town Center enabled us to walk around the beautiful town. The front desk lady was very nice and helpful.

A nice comfortable and relaxing stay in Villach.

Hotel was ideally situated for both the train and bus station. The hotel common area and room were in good condition. All of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The allocated room was a good size, comfortable and clean. Although the room had a kettle I would have liked to have seen a bottle of complementary water. The breakfast provided was very nice with hot and cold options available. Thank you for a comfortable and relaxing stay

Set opposite the station it was easily accessible and only a few minutes walk to the main town parts. The rooms were light and spacious with more than enough room and a nice view over the town to the mountains behind from the one I stayed in.

The staff were friendly and polite and the breakfast was very good with a wide selection on offer.

The area was not impressive, but the hotel itself was immaculate and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. You only have to walk around the corner and over the bridge to the pedestrian area of the old city. Great location, good parking, and fabulous buffet breakfast!

It was very hot the days we were there. We had only one small window, looking out at a black flat roof radiating heat, and no AC.

There were no amenities. So, we went to the store and bought conditioner, as there was
liquid soap in the shower.

The second day, my husband mentioned to the desk that the room was very hot.
She said we could have air-conditioning for another 9 euros a day. In a hotel where the rate was very high, that was really unbelievable .

On the third day, I read the hotel booklet, and it said, if you need amenities, you can ask the hotel desk, and they will give you some. At these hotel rates, we thought the price for
electricity, and trying to avoid amenities was out of character.

The only high point was a fabulous breakfast, possibly the best we have ever had.

We didn't realize the hotel didn't have air conditioning. This may not be needed in Villach, Austria usually, but we visited during a heat wave. Staff supplied a fan, but we were still uncomfortable. Breakfast was very good.

Loved this hotel! Perfect location, right across from the train station. Multiple cafes, a market, and restaurants within the block where the hotel is located. It is an easy walk into the village, which is BEAUTIFUL, and to the running/biking trails next to the Drava River. The hotel was clean, efficient (use of space), the air con worked GREAT (a must for us), and the breakfast was delicious and substantial. The beds were super comfortable. The staff was amazing - so helpful and cheerful and GENUINE. We initially viewed this trip as merely a \"stopover\" with little expectations, but now want to return because the hotel was just perfectly situated and we became enchanted with the town itself.

Arrived at the hotel and the staff were rude saying I had made two bookings when I hadn’t. Tried to charge me an extra night and then didn’t achknowledge us each time we walked past. Hotel in general was nice and breakfast was good! Villach itself is dull with nothing to do. I wish I had carried onto Ljubljana rather than stop here.

A very comfortable and convenient city hotel

I stayed in Hotel City for a week in early February. Different people look for different things in a hotel. My three measures would be comfort (not luxury), friendly staff and (in town) location. Hotel City measured up very well, actually beyond my expectations when I first booked.
I had a single room which was perfectly good and which, in a compact space, provided not only the basics but also a sofa (which was great to watch the high definition TV). The room faced into the busy square around the railway station. My first thought was that it might be noisy. No. My stay was remarkably quiet, night and morning. I was very impressed by the extensive breakfast, included in the room price. There was an excellent choice and the atmosphere was relaxed. First class.
The staff was also first class. The front desk was welcoming and helpful. The breakfast staff equally so. The cleaning staff too. It may have been because I was staying longer than most but I began to feel like I was one of the hotel 'family'. Not a perfect analogy but I did develop a sense of the hotel as 'home'.
Location is great. I had had a very long and complicated journey and it was a relief to exit the railway station, look across the road and think 'finally, I've made it'. Most of what Villach has to offer is within a short walk. Bus and rail for exploring further is right beside you.
In short, Hotel City ticked all the boxes.

\"Too small/ no air\"

I knew I had reserved twin beds, but didn't realize how small the room would be. Reminded my of my dorm room in college. Also, they didn't have air conditioning, which is not unusual in Austria. The problem is the hotel is right next to very busy bus stop. So, when we opened the window, the noise made it hard to sleep. On the plus side, the breakfast was very good.

Very nice place located directly in front of the main train station and maybe 10 minutes into the city center by foot. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff were really very friendly and helpful. Only complaint is that even in the middle of November, the room was very hot, yet all the heaters were off, so there was no way of dealing with the temperature other than opening the window.

Generally it was alright as I only stayed for one night. However, the central air-conditioning cannot be customized and adjusted. I stayed there during the Summer and it was really hot in the room. I didn't have a good rest.

However, it is just opposite the train station, so it is very convenient for train travelers like me. There is also a supermarket right next to it, which is very convenient to purchase daily necessities.

Hotel City Villach is perfect for train travellers like me. It's opposite the station and easy walking distance to town centre. A comfortable bed, English speaking staff and a generous breakfast buffet made it a very nice two day stay. The room and bathroom were a little on the small side, but who cares? Architecturally uninspiring, this 1960s era hotel is acceptable value: It is well located (across from main train station), there's free parking in front of the hotel, Rooms facing away from the square are quieter and have fewer bright lights shining in the windows.
Architecture is uninspiring, room furniture is functional but hardly stylish. WiFi worked well.
Breakfast is a generous buffet, and includes hot and cold dishes, lots of breads, good choices of fruit, and is served early. Austrian (German-language) newspapers are available free.

We needed an over night stop in Villach to connect with a morning train to Venice - we had a late arrival into Villach and left early the next morning. Hotel City Villach was ideally placed as it's right across the road from the main train station. i never expect a lot from hotels located right next to railway stations, however this hotel was neat and well presented, and the staff were very friendly. The room was quite small for two people, however the breakfast buffet was great. We were mainly looking for convenience for our train connections, and Hotel City Villach more than met our needs.

We picked this hotel based on its location close to the train station since we were only stopping overnight. However, area made us feel uncomfortable as there were a number of derelicts hanging around the square in front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and recommended a pretty good restaurant nearby.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to Villach. It's conveniently located next to the train station and very close to the city center, has parking, and the condition of this place is superb. My room was spotless, with big bright windows and lots of light. I could definitely stay at such a place for a week or even a month without any hesitation. It's best to have a car in Villach and drive around, there isn't that much to see on foot, but the old town is quite beautiful.

Best part of the City Hotel in Villach was the outstanding breakfast! They went out of their way to be helpful plus marked the various juices, jams, in English. Sautéed vegetables, fresh vegetables, a wide assortment of everything; bread, meats, juices, fresh and dried fruits. It was located right across from the train station and had an elevator to assist with luggage. The room was quite nice, but VERY small. Great wifi in the room and a terminal in the lobby. Friendly front desk staff.

A superb hotel. Although the room we had was small it was well laid out making maximum use of the space available. The breakfast is to be especially recommended as it uses as much locally produced items as possible, the soft cheese board provided had some of the best cheese I had had for a long time on it.

This is a wonderful hotel. I just needed a place to stay overnight because I couldn't catch a train to Lienz till the next morning, so I got the economy room and loved it. Everything about this hotel is great - very friendly and helpful staff, wonderful free breakfast, immaculate rooms, and a great location. The only reason why I would have given them 4 stars is because the economy room is not air-conditioned, and that should have been made clear before booking it (nowadays I would expect all rooms to have A/C). When I asked about it, I was told that I would have to upgrade my room for it. I thought that was kind of petty. Fortunately, it was a cool night.

Since we arrived at the Villach train station close to 11 pm and had to catch a postbus to Venice at 6:50 AM, we chose this hotel because of its close proximity to the train station. When we arrived, the hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. The room was small but clean. Both train and bus stations are within 1 min walking distance from the hotel. There is a ATM machine next to the bus station you can use if you want to withdraw some money early in the morning or late in the night. We are very satisfied with this hotel.

Nice hotel spacious rooms and good disabled access

This is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel and I would not hesitate to stay there again. As I have only used it as an overnight stop when driving through Austria, I cannot comment on all the facilities. The hotel is modern and clean and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The staff cannot be faulted, very courteous and very friendly. There was free parking in front of the hotel and for the disabled there is a lift from reception up to the bedrooms and restaurant. The breakfast buffet has virtually everything you could want for breakfast. The hotel is quite easy to find as it is opposite the train station but you can't hear the trains so they won't keep you awake during the night. All in all I look forward to using this hotel again next year and for many years to come.

Very convenient, across from the train station. 5 minute walk to the charming old center of town, so it makes a good stopover if you're travelling between Venice, Zagreb, and/or Vienna.

Room was simple but very clean, desk clerks were nice. Wifi is extra, but relatively cheap- 2 euro for 30 minutes covered all I needed.

The real surprise was the continental breakfast. The BEST one we have ever had in years of staying in hotels, an astounding selection and variety of healthy choices. I'd go back there just for the breakfast.

Das Frühstück ist solide und völlig ausreichend.
Die Gegend ist nicht die schönste, da das Hotel direkt am Bahnhof liegt, dafür aber mit perfekter Zug- und Busanbindung – sehr praktisch für Ausflüge oder Geschäftsreisen.
