This is a lovely resort, really quite unique as it's like being in a village. There are 7 restaurants which is nice as you can have a different dinner experience instead of the buffet all the time. Most staff we came across were friendly and helpful, especially at the bars and reception. The staff at the Enomy main buffet restaurant were mostly okay but many staff were rude or not attentive at all (we sat waiting for cutlery and to be asked our drinks order for ages and then had to try and find someone). The facilities are great but many people still used towels to reserve sunbeds even though the resort states towels will be removed (they were not). We traveled in October half term and were very lucky with the wether. The tennis courts were great and facilities for children also enjoyable. We would definitely return.

The restaurants offer something for everyone, from delicious local dishes to international favourites, all cooked to perfection. The pools are crystal-clear and plentiful, so there’s always a perfect spot to relax. The bars serve fantastic drinks in a great atmosphere, and the staff are simply outstanding — warm, friendly, and always going the extra mile. We’re genuinely sad to be leaving and can’t wait to come back again. 💙

We liked most things but since we stayed there before, two years ago, the hotel has introduced Adult deluxe rooms and areas and facilities that were not available to all which we did not know about beforehand and, indeed, we did not really approve of.

Great Stay at the Creta Maris Resort

We stayed at the Creta Maris hotel as the third leg in our Greece trip.

We took the ferry from Santorini and it was about a 45 minute cab ride from the port. I would try to arrange transportation through the hotel beforehand so you can get picked up without lining up for a cab.

The resort is huge, beautiful and well-maintained. There are multiple pools, bars, a la carte and buffet restaurants since it is all-inclusive. The main pool and adults-only pool were right next to the beach. There are rocks so I would bring water shoes for the beach.

There are a lot of young families so I am glad we booked the adults-only room / area as we were not travelling with children.

You need to get and install the Creta Maris app which I did beforehand. However, I had to email the hotel to get a code to activate the booking system. As you need to book the day before starting at 8:00 am for the a la carte restaurants on the app, this was a bit tricky. It would be helpful if the resort had a waiting list as some people don’t show up for their reservations.

We really enjoyed the food at the main buffet restaurant.

The bars in the central area were great with beautiful sea views but it was sometimes difficult to get a seat.

The resort has some entertainment but nothing like the broadway-style shows we have seen on cruise ships.

We had a great few days at the Creta Maris resort but wish we’d been able to stay a few days longer.

Everything was perfect.
I would just recommend a few things for the hotel
1. Have water stations by pools. It's very hot and we shouldn't be waiting in line for 10 minutes just to get water
2. You need more staff around the bar if the hotel is busy. I shouldn't wait 15 mins to get a drink.
3. The water in the pools is very cold and wasn't too enjoyable.
4. There should be more beer options on the all inclusive menu
5. The restaurants in the hotel should be accepting guests based on empty spaces and should be able to go every night and not one restaurants per week. If it is all inclusive I should be able to go to a restaurant as many times as I want during my stay and it shouldn't be through the app.
6. There should be a snack bar or even a few with real snacks, like sandwiches and crisps and chocolate.

These are just some ideas so make the place even more perfect

Yes, but...

Overall, we had a lovely time – a much-needed, relaxing family vacation that allowed us to recharge. The hotel is beautifully designed like a Greek village, charming and pleasant to walk around. There are plenty of pools, so there’s no need to fight over sunbeds by the main pool. The staff was (mostly) friendly, and the hotel itself is very clean, well-kept, and nicely maintained.

The biggest downside for us was the food, which was, to put it mildly, not tasty. It’s honestly surprising that even something as simple as an omelet could turn out poorly… To be frank, this really affected our experience, especially since we couldn’t leave the hotel to eat elsewhere and had paid a significant amount to enjoy the “all-inclusive” package.

The à la carte restaurants were somewhat better, but it was very frustrating to have to wake up early just to book a spot through the app in order to secure a place at the better ones.

Another point that could be improved is the afternoon activities for kids – there weren’t enough engaging options to keep them entertained during those hours.

That being said, the hotel itself is beautiful and relaxing, and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the pools, and the overall family time together. With improvements in the food and children’s activities, this could easily become a perfect vacation spot.

We had a brilliant 8 nights at Creta Maris. It’s a beautiful resort with fantastic facilities. Staff were all very friendly although service in restaurants could be a little slow at times. We were upgraded to adult area rooms luckily as sun beds by the pool were a scarce resource unless you were willing to reserve them by around 7.30am every morning. I imagine it was much worse in the normal area. Evenings were very relaxed, not much in the way of entertainment, we did enjoy an evening at the outdoor cinema however. One area i was disappointed in was the gym. Equipment was ok if a little dated but it lacked space and i really wouldn’t expect a gym in a 5 star resort to be open to local weight lifters. The gym supervisor even commented that we were the only holiday makers in the gym at that time, it was 5pm in the evening! Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely go back but only if we could get rooms in the adult area again.

Deluxe ocean view was only visible from the patio. We killed 17 mosquitoes the first night to clear the room. Property was gorgeous and amenities were always around. Cleanliness of other guests were not so clean. Guests would leave trash and cigarette butts around for staff to clean up.

Rooms could be cleaner. Not possible to get sun-loungers without being up at the crack of dawn to reserve them. Restaurant availability/booking system only explained after arrival and then not possible to book restaurants we actually wanted to go to. Food was decent but not sure would go back.

As a couple we decided to join the adults part of the property . We had a really nice room but after 2 days we have to go after the cleaning stuff for coffee , coffee cups water , toilet paper ( we suppose to get those every day . Bed was not done properly and room and bath tap not clean when I need to use it. We drunk from the same cups 5 days ( not clean )
We arrived at 5 pm . we love restaurants but we have to wait for 2 days to book any because the answer was they are full .They manage to get us a spot for the next day and the restaurant was not full. Breakfast 10 kinds of eggs no fish( smoked salmon ) ,no Greek nice bakery I know with cheese or spinach and not allowed to have a sparking wine( Mimosa ) . The adult area was very hot so we end up using the area with kids .
The only bar with nice fire was full with family and young kids ( kinder garden ) can’t get a table . All adult activities ( fitness )were away from the adult area . All the entertainments during the day was around kids area . If you have kids great but if you don’t and you love food and dancing or Dj nights for adults only is not the resort for you . Very clean , very nice amenities . Good drinks
For the money I spent for this resort as an adult and all inclusive was not for us:(

We really enjoyed our stay at the Creta Maris. Beautiful beach area, great staff, and the food was wonderful. On our first night when we showed up late from the airport, the staff kept the buffet open late so we could get some food after our long travel. Their mobile app is convenient for booking restaurant reservations and reserving activities such as tennis.

A location feature would be a helpful addition to their app to quickly figure out where you (the resort is quite large). Also, I was hoping to play beach volleyball but there was no net, I would recommend the hotel to add one for the guests.

Overall 5/5, would recommend staying here if you're going to Crete.

The hotel makes you feel like a movie star from the minute you walk in. You are greeted by the concierge staff and they made my entire family feel important and supported. Our rooms and views were amazing, the beaches and pools are fantastic and the all inclusive restaurants and drinks are all top notch! Eva and Aleksandra are incredible. Our stay was more than we all hoped for and we would highly recommend Creta Maris to anyone and would love to come back again and again!!!

Food quality very very bad. During our stay it was noisy from changes being made to the room next to ours.

We got one of the conceirge telling us to walk to the reception when the buggy was empty and we had a 10months old baby and a toddler. He said its only a 3mins walk.

The spa lady kept forcing my wife to take one of her advisory option and told her without paying the appointment cannot be booked but the following day rang our room to tell her she is late for her appointment.

The photography team on day 1 and 2 again kept on the sales pitch even though we told them not interested.

Wow, what a place. Really feel like you’re in Greece with the building architecture. Food is amazing (I’ve stayed at a bunch of all inclusive) fresh as could be, and actual Greek food, not just throwing stuff in a buffet. Pools r great, beach isn’t nice at all but jetskis/ paddleboars are very easy to get on, go to the stand pay and youre on usually no wait. Rooms r nice, no view in garden view but nice. VERY ACTIVE boardwalk type street around the block, many bars, adult clubs, fun things to do so great night life. No time of the day you can’t get food in the resort itself. White glasses always dirty, but drinks were good I just kept asking for paper cup. HUGGEE resort, worst part and honestky only bad part is the big hill to get back to the room, turns you off from going down to those attractions. MANY KIDS. Water park is sick kept going down the slides no line obviously. Clean as could be. Great service, room cleaned every day. Just trying to give out the negatives so people know, but there aren’t many. Was an amazing time and could live there, the single best resort I’ve ever been on.

Really great quality and price was fair, not extreme for what we got. Brilliant staff everywhere. Main buffet restaurant variety and quality was really high, every bar and snack booth brilliant too. Finish, cleanliness and quality of furnishings all top notch too.

The restaurant reservation system is *ridiculous* and risks killing the whole experience if it’s something you care about.

Water park is not really “teen level” - it’s not huge but it’s ok.

We stayed as two groups ,the hotel staff we re all very pleasant and helpful. The cocktail bar was a lovely place to chill .We tried all of the restaurants and found The Alasti fish restaurant to be the best food followed by the Pithos,the food was good in all of them .Our ions were spacious cean and well equiped.My only negative is that there are apparently 10 pools plus 5 for children,however we couldn t find one without children even the relax pool was noisy.I m quite happy with children but there was no pool to chill in .

We searched many All
Inclusive resorts across the Greek islands and so glad we settled on the Creta Maris. From reading previous reviews we thought the hotel would be nice, however it exceeded all our expectations. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. The resort was amazing, spotlessly clean with beautiful grounds. There was an excellent choice of restaurants offering a fine dining experience with great value for money! We will absolutely be returning, thank you Creta Maris!

Excellent property, clean, A LOT of food options, drinks, etc. Big, comfortable suites. There are a lot fo activities on site so you never have to leave, but if you do want to explore, Hersonissos port and town are within a short waling distance. The only negatives are that the dining staff sometimes was not very nice and we felt like we inconvenienced them if we came in towards the end of the meal times. Service was slow at times, which is understandable given the huge number of people that were being served at one time. Cleaning staff was top notch, and there were many small touches that added up to a great experience - a letter from the manager upon arrival, wine, fruit and snacks in the room, handwritten notes from evening cleaning staff. All in all, a very nice resort with lots to offer.

Staff is above average, property is amazing, rooms need to be upgraded. Property is in an excellent location with great views and access to the private beach. Dining options are good, I would have said excellent but for the fact that I was booked for my first meal at a very mediocre restaurant ( which put me off ) However for the rest of my stay the restaurants there are very upscale and offer good quality food. With an all inclusive resort some of it’s policies are weird, like going out of the way to get cocktails, closing the facilities like the gym and other activities on Sunday, paying for specific drinks etc. The resort has easy access to many outdoor activities like bball, tennis, soccer, bouche ball and other games.

Beautiful, very clean kept resort.
Great beach and 7 fantastic pools.
We didn't travel with kids but seems to be very family friendly and entertainment for kids are plenty.
Friendly pleasant staff.
Originally we were offer room at the more busy area with water park and kids entertainment place.
After few questions to our greeting person Alexandros, he change our room to more quite area with beautiful sea view (many thanks)
Decent food choices in every restaurant, and whichever choice we made for buffet or a'lacarte restaurant food was in excellent quality.
Unfortunately slightly disappointing were bars. Very narrow cocktails choices and most of the brand spirits are for extra fees or completely unavailable(unheard-of in 5 star very expensive all inclusive resorts at the Caribbean or Asia) bartenders operating at the slow speed. Most of the times need to wait 15 or more minutes to get some drink at the pool areas (with one exception at the Steki bar, which has great service) .
Now said that, overall it was very nice vacation time for us and we would definitely consider Creta Maris for next time we'll visit Crete.

We’ve stayed at this resort 2 years in a row. Each time was sublime. The staff are all so professional and friendly. The food was delicious and the service is amazing. The pools are outstanding and private beach is super clean! The detail that goes into running the resort is top notch. Reception staff are so helpful and housekeeps ensured the rooms were spotless and even managed to bring character and connection without being customer facing. We got engaged this year at the resort and we will re-visit again and again. The entertainment is 10/10 for adults and kids and the outdoor cinema was such a nice touch. The food courts and snacks bars were also amazing.We recommend Geri for employee of the month for excellent service over the course of our 10 day stay.He did such a good job and making us feel welcome and known.More staff who stood out during our stay were Zambia in the buffet restaurant, she was so caring and friendly and always so happy to be of service. Harris at the adult bar was also super friendly and delivered great service every time. Manos who was based at the gyros bar during our stay was so welcome and accommodating. And George who was a waiter at multiple restaurants had a really good engagement with all the customers and was really approachable. The views across the resort are jaw dropping every time and we recommend this resort as an absolute must visit. Not too far from the airport either. And the decor was beautiful throughout! We will be back! :)

I cant praise Creta Maris resort enough. Its one of the best resorts we’ve been to world wide. The property has everything you would want from different swimming pools, to a private beach, to aqua parks, to an arcade for kids, to a theatre, to different restaurants on-top of the main buffet one. Its unbelievable. The staff are very welcoming, smiley and helpful. There was not a single thing we didn't like. Would go back multiple times for sure. Holiday well spent. Thank you.

This Resort is a great place to bring young children. If you are an older couple without kids you may be disappointed. One out of 7 seven restaurants was adults only. Very noisy all day everywhere. Specialty restaurants limited visits to once every 7 days.

Excellent hotel, we really enjoyed our stay, the newly renovated hotel had everything you would want and more from an all inclusive experience. The staff were amazing and so friendly and hard working, the restaurants were fantastic, the facilities were great!

Just a couple of minor points, it might be worth having more staff in the bar at night. The staff there were amazing they worked constantly hard and at speed but could do with more help to full fill all the orders. The Platia restaurant food was not to the standard of the other restaurants. If you want the discount from the spa due to your Expedia VIP status make sure you ask for it upfront they won’t refund you or give it to you after booking (they did however offer an additional treatment as compensation which is nice).

However these are really minor points, this hotel is truly fantastic and we will definitely be back!

It was one of our first holidays in Greece, we were not sure at the start to travel, but we decided to visit Greece with our 2 kids, We were really pleased to visit, the hotel, food, staff members, all the standard was very outstanding. We loved how the resort had character and wasn't a cookie-cutter, overly-modern resort.
Pros: Calm and clear water at the beach - bring snorkel gear; spacious; very clean; very short walk to beach/bar street (not sure of name) where there are restaurants, bars, shops, beautiful views; friendly service; good drinks; good food with large variety (BBQ dinner buffet and breakfast buffet were our faves (pancakes were Amazing!) but we aren't too big on seafood); clean pools; cute cats roaming around
Cons: Seating at beach is very close together but I guess they need that to accommodate all guests; pools kind of small and hard to get a chair by main pool; no swim-up bar; seemed understaffed at times at bars (long wait to order and long wait for drinks to come out) BUT staff was friendly; blowdryer in room is weak and need to hold down the \"on\" button the whole time it is in use; some bars open 'til 1am but all-inclusive ends at 12am so need to pay for drinks during that hour; the disco is only utilized on rainy days.

Good things first. Nice and beautiful resort.
The sea and beach are excellent ,very good choice of restaurants and good food.good staff. Now worst part it is all inclusive resort where first time I saw wine from the tap.
Poor quality wine and from tap you are disrespecting wine and it is not fresh.
The whiskey low grade. Compared to other similar or better resorts the room tariffs are much higher.

The rooms are old and terrible. Cleanliness was not good. There were tiny cockroaches in the room. The room was smelly and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The food at the resort was pathetic. Tasteless. Everything tasted like reheated plane food. It was a waste of money and I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!

We had a really great stay at the Creta Maris.

Pros:

1. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and proactive.
2. The accommodation was clean and spacious.
3. There were multiple pools to choose from and we always found sun beds throughout the day - no need to race for a sunbed at the crack of dawn.
4.The beach was lovely with sand good enough to build sandcastles. Water was clear and warm.
5. The Waterpark was really great fun everyday.
6. Evening entertainment was enjoyable.
7. The food was aboslutely incredible. So much variety, with many different restaurants to choose from (the BBQ buffet was particularly good). All the food tasted really good, including the fruit and deserts on offer.
8. Rooms had good soundproofing so did not get woken up by neighbouring guests.

Cons:

1. Not the hotels fault but it is a bit isolated. There is a small town within walking distance but this was more of a party town with lots of youngesters rather than family friendly.

Strictly a family resort

The resort should advertise as a family resort (not just family friendly). My husband and I chose this resort for our honeymoon (we’re in our mid 30s) and we were a bit frazzled that we were perhaps one of 2 or 3 other couples on the resort. 98% of the guests here were families with small children. We came in with resort expectations - all of you can eat and drink, fun activities for adults and a variety of experiences to partake in. All but 2 restaurants are buffets and the drinks were half pours and half glasses.

This is 100% a fabulous place for families with family fun, not young singles or couples looking to let loose a bit and enjoy themselves.

There were also a lot of odd rules in place - like you couldn’t dine at the same restaurant within a week, you couldn’t wear flip flops to dinner (this is all I packed for a resort) and you couldn’t leave or hold your beach spot. Overall we had a nice trip, but probably wouldn’t go back while in Crete as a single person or couple.

The sustainability efforts of the resort, however, are impressive !

A good stay

An excellent stay with the family. The only negative was that our 5-year-old was 3cm too short to go on the waterslides, which were the main reason for selecting the resort and caused much disappointment. The hotel explained there are the usual health and safety constraints, but this could have been made clearer at the time of booking. Otherwise, the staff were very helpful, hotel very clean with excellent facilities, food very good and plenty of activities to keep everyone amused.
