The toilets dont work most of the time so maintenance has to be called atleast once a day to get the water running. Breakfast is free but EVERYDAY it is Horrible eggs, sausage plantains, and rice...location is far away from most attractions. Rooms were dirty however housekeeping states they come everyday. 2 towels for a family of 4. Absolute NIGHTMARE!!!

Its a family friendly hotel. Hot sprinds are nice. Breakfast was also good. Hotel building is bit old and washrooms were average cleaned. Only 2 towels were left initially. No comforter in the room. Front staff was nice and they gave them to us.

I would suggest that they should keep the place better, clean the areas from debris, making repairs from areas were the people are walking and watching the nature.
There is an area around the river where there are a lot garbage and old objects that could be thrown away and the area would be cleaned and looked better.

Be aware they have rooms without AC, they gave us a fan only room. We were supposed to get a Junior suite and it was nothing like the picture. Not enough towels for the three guests, small beds, close to the reception so the noise early in the morning was not fun at all. Property is nice, cold water pool was been clean so we couldn’t use it for day and a half. Good food, decent drinks prices.

Poorly kept, mold was on our walls as there is no a/c and it’s very humid and wet area. Before arriving we called to see if they recommended anyone for taxi service they gave us a number call we waited 40 min at the airport for him he never showed we ended up finding one at the airport then upon arriving to the hotel checkin they said the taxi service we needed to pay 100$ cause he did show up we went back and forth for a while and i said i would call and sort it myself before they allowed us to check in to our room and we didn’t get there until 9 so by that time it was 10 and we were exhausted after a long day of traveling. Other than that the pool and drinks were nice.

No air conditioning in the room because I was penalized for using Expedia. The water in the shower was barely lukewarm and dribbled out. The parking lot at night was loud with motorcycles racing around. Unsympathetic staff who didn’t care when I said that I should not be penalized for Not getting a room with air-conditioning because I didn’t book through them personally.

Beautiful setting!

Our family of 5 had a great stay! Staff was very friendly, breakfast included was delicious and fresh, and the location and setting is stunning! The hot-spring pool is open 24 hours and the property has multiple pools, a sauna and a beautiful hike through the gorgeous grounds with a waterfall. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The property is scenic, surrounded by beautiful forest area and a creek. The hot springs and pools make this a nice place to stay. The rooms need alot of maintenance and updating. For example, the bathroom is extremely outdated, bathtub had a crack in it, the bathroom sink was falling apart, and the tile work needed caulking as well as updating. There was black mold everywhere, especially in the bathroom. Not a very clean hotel. Staff was nice in the restaurant.

Beautiful property, with some wonderful hot springs. Be sure to check them out along the river not only the manmade pools. Rooms were nice but ours was a bit dated and loud as we were close to the pools and restraunt. Food in the restraunt wasnt the best but was cheap. Our first room had no hot water, they said it would be fixed and said it was. Still didn't work. No hot water flow from sink, shower had none. Safe couldn't be locked( they had no key). Moved us to another room. Hot water was very very little flow. My sister had another room. Very little hot water flow. Restaurant is very nice, mini golf is fun. 4 pools, several bars. 2 hot tubs. Pools are various temperatures, which was nice. Air conditioner worked fine. The management is proactively upgrading & repairing the property. Can't recommend this proof, mosly because not much to do around the area, and the hot water.

This was probably a great hotel 10 years ago but there is a very apparent lack of care everywhere you go. Rooms are ok but a lot of things fell in disrepear (light fixtures, switches, showers, hairdryer not working, partially broken windows). The staff is ok overall but the main desk doesn’t seem to care. When asked about tourist information « they don’t know ». The restaurant isn’t terrible but too expensive for what it is. Food is pretty bland and the dining room is sad and dreadful. I’d recommend dining in town for a far better experience. We saw a couple of cockroaches in the dining area. Location is a little too remote from where the action is in the region. La Fortuna is probably much better in that regard.

Quite a nice set-up surrounded by forest with hot springs. Yet the hotel is already a bit aged. What I did not like was that next to the reception they advertised 2 nights stay incl. massage at about USD 60 less for 2 nights than what I paid through expedia. When I pointed out to this at the reception, the answer was that this offer is only valid for the off-season around July. I stated that the would have to mention this with the advertisement as otherwise they would be legally bound to honor the offer during the whole year. The lady at reception answered that in principle I was right but that she could not do anything about it as she is only an employee. A lawyer would be in a position to enforce the adherance to the ad! What is Expedia's comment/reaction?

This is not a star hotel as advertised. The hotel is not maintained at all. Hot water did not work for our shower. The staff listened to our concerns however it was not fixed or no other options were given. We had to shower in cold water. The tiles were old and broken in the bathroom. The toilet seat is broken. The bathroom bulbs were out. The door locks were broken. No tissues or napkins provided. Only hot water pitcher with two glasses. No water in it. No blankets on beds. No stopper in sink. Towel racks broken. You need to walk up and down a hill to get or ask for all the amenities (towels, pillows, water) because the phones were not working. There were no qualities of a star hotel. One towel and pillow per person. We booked for 4 and got only two. We had to go several times to the front desk for extra towels, pillows etc.The staff were courteous and polite but the hotel was sorely lacking in quality. The whole place was not worth the amount of money we had to spend on one night! I wish I never booked this hotel, and get a refund for this one!

Place ok but dirty, and an unexpected surprise

Place was ok, comfortable however, it seemed like the facilities saw better days in the past, in my experience this is easily overlooked as you want to spend most of the time in the pool / enjoying the nature, HOWEVER, just getting into the room that I booked which was the most expensive one available, the first thing we noticed was that the bathroom was dirty (and not the usual dirty, as it was like someone used the WC but forgot to flush it), I proceeded to inform the receptionist about it and her answer was \"oooh, that's so bad\" which is a reply that I didn't expect, however, she told us that the manager of the place was going to contact us on monday (yesterday) but at 11:30 pm of Tuesday there is no email from them, neither a phone call, the least I expected was an apology, as for me, it is a MAJOR issue, as it was almost the first thing I saw in the most expensive room

You can see their attempt to upgrade or restore the rooms, but the beds were really hard so keep your expectations low in comparison with hotels or a comfy sleep. The location of the hotel was beautiful but the hotel itself and its rooms was not clean. On the walls of the room there were unknown marks smeared on the walls, in the bathroom the tiles were broken and there were hints of what looks like mold on the side of the bathroom walls as well as by the air conditioner. Our first night there I had to go to the front desk three times to get a different remote to control the air conditioner and in the end it never worked they had to move us to another room where the air conditioner worked but the TV didn’t work. On the second night I asked for the TV to be fixed and according to the front desk the person in charge of that already had left for the day. The next day no one came to fix the TV. The room smelled muggy during the entire time we were there. The phone in the room had no instructions on how to contact the front desk. The thermal pools were not really warm let alone hot. At 7 AM on the second day, I went to the front desk and it was closed.
The breakfast was really good. The hotel needs a major remodeling update.

We encountered problems checking in and had to negotiate entry after midnight with our 3 & 6 year old, using my modest amount of Spanish. We were given no information, so we missed the included breakfast, which runs only from 7:30-8:30 AM. There isn’t room service, a cafe, or any other way of purchasing food onsite outside of these hours. There is not a coffee maker in the room and no place to get coffee outside of breakfast. The rooms were on par with an aging Best Western in the US. The grounds are beautiful and the staff very kind. The bathroom and room were not especially clean, with noticeable mold in the bathroom (a challenge to combat in this climate, I know) and dirty on the walls and ceiling of the room. The linens looked clean but we were bit all night and had to wash all of our clothing after leaving. We left early, even though we paid for additional nights, due to the conditions. The biggest potential disappointment is that none of the spa services are available during the week, which isn’t advertised anywhere. This was a gap filler after our rental fell through and we needed a place to stay with our kids. If we actually planned on this as part of our vacation, I would be far more upset.

Overall hotel was good. We enjoyed the thermal waters and all the pools were relaxing. Restaurant has room for improvement. Tres Leches tasted like they used spoiled milk. Items from the buffet could use some improvement in both breakfast and dinner meals. I chose steak from the menu second night there and this too wasn't great, but at least it was filling. I would suggest hiring a good chef to improve your food selection.Only other thing that needs improvement is the jacuzzi; it wasn't working during our stay,

Everything was good until I got sick and we were looking for a pill and they didn’t have. Then my boyfriend was looking for ice to reduce the fever I got and he didn’t find. Actually he had a problem with the bartender and he treated so bad. We talked to the reception and security as well. The other people working in the hotel were nice and servicial. The hotel and room were nice and the swimming pool too.

The resort itself is nice, great room, very comfortable and clean. The grounds are well kept and has many amenities. What the issue was for us is we didnt realize this was more of a local country club than a resort. The whole place was PACKED with local families, there were more kids here than we saw on our whole trip. Which was our honeymoon, so not exactly the vibe we wanted. Basically locals can buy memberships so they come on the weekends like a country club.. so the atmosphere was not relaxing whatsoever and not really welcoming of tourists. The staff were not very welcoming either unfortunately.

I was looking for some peace and tranquility surrounded by nature and that is exactly what I found. The hotel is nice and the thermal pools are amazing. But what I enjoyed most was sitting in the river, which is also fed by hot springs. A very special experience!

Horrible staff

Management should fire all the front desk staff and replace with someone professional at this place.
We booked a spa service with the hotel and the only appointment they had was around noon. By the time we got back, they put all our stuff out and forced vacating the room. We even told them we will pay extra for late checkout and they said thats okay for upto an hour and we can pay. But even before we got back (it was only half hour beyond checkout time), our poor kids were dragging the suitcases out of the room. Ridiculous.
On top of this, their attitude is so rude. If they change their attitude, this could be a good place.
