Great hotel. The staff were fantastic, very proud and very friendly. Nothing was too much for them. Very quiet and the passing ships are a nice distraction. Facilities were first class and the smell inside the hotel just stays with you throughout your stay. The location is a little too far from the the airport, but that is a small blessing. I look forward to going there again.

Beautiful hotel and views, good food, breakfast and very nice bar. Staff very friendly efficient and helpful. Enjoyed the evening boat ride and pool is amazing, you can see river dolphins sometimes.
Small point of feedback is in relation to maintenance and attention to detail. Cupboard doors were not closing properly, there was a sticker on the toilet seat, soap dispenser in lounge toilet was dirty. But no major issues, we had a wonderful time

I had 2 rooms booked for a family of 5. I was given 1 in the heritage wing and 1 in the tower wing. The front desk mentioned they will upgrade us to be together and moved us to the tower wing. the room didnt have dual charger plugs, the hot water in the shower was not working and the guest checkin and buffet was sub standard to The Taj experience we are accustomed to. However, the overall stay, the bar and property location is amazing and enjoyable!!! Manager was very helpful and provided voluntary assistance without even complaining.

What I liked about this hotel is the location . Its a great place to unwind with views onto the sea . But if you are looking to go shopping or other activities its a 30 mins drive . What I did not like is that this hotel needs a revamp. Everything looks old . The bathrooms are not clean as expected . The maintenance department has to improve. I had a light flickering . Telephone not working . Its a popular wedding venue so expect crowds . Pool has no privacy with laborers lounging around . I feel this hotel shoukd be rated 4 star

This is an excellent hotel with stunning views of Arabian sea. If you want to enjoy the Kerala monsoon, this is the best location. The staffs are super friendly. The hotel is very neat and clean and food was excellent. Overall an excellent hotel to spend a family vacation.

The property is located on a beautiful coast. Unfortunately there is nothing to do within walking distance. But they do have a free boat shuttle to Fort Kochi. The furniture and electrical needs to be updated. For TAJ we were expecting a bit more modern interior with USB ports for charging for cellphones. Their tea time was fun with excellent eats. The massage was a wonderful experience at their Spa. Will definitely consider it for future stay.

Hotel was lovely but the staff made the place extra special. The hotel offered several perks such as daily ferry to Kochi Fort & an evening boat ride which was an unexpected addition. The breakfast was the best we had in India and the restaurants were great too (loved the Keralan prawn curry at the rice boat). The staff were excellent and really made us feel welcome but a special shout is required for the bar & pool staff. I felt like they got to know us in such a short space of time. Will be back when we return to Kerala.

The property has so many nooks and corners for lounging/ reading/ relaxing at different times of day— a swing by the sea, a restaurant on a boat, benches in the gardens, a small library, and elephants in all shapes and sizes!
The staff really go over and beyond to make your experience memorable. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous in itself, but the attendants still fussed over us to customise the coffee we wanted, eggs done exactly right, and even offering variations that weren’t on the menu. They were so thoughtful as to pack us a goody bag for our sightseeing trip and our flight home.
Even the most basic room was spacious and had two large windows with great morning views of the harbour. The evening high tea, guided cruise on a house boat, and classical dance performances (all on the house) every day were an added bonus.
A big shout out to the Rice Boat— every dish was subtle, flavourful, promptly and tastefully served, complete with the final touch of home-made chocolate on a bed of banana leaf over a steam boat!
A shout out also to the Jiva staff who recommended just the right spa and massage services. I came out more relaxed than I had felt in months.

Beautiful property with a history of having been used as a hostel for sailors during 1930s. Yummy thirst quenching welcome drink! Would love the recipe!!! Loved the rooms, the bedroom with its 4 poster bed and net, the bathroom with tub and shower and bidet. Enjoyed Forest Essentials bath products. Turn down service was so nice. All restaurants had amazing food. Enjoyed the spread of breakfast buffet and all other meals. Our highlight was the evening lamp lighting that they allowed me and my daughter to light the lamp. Enjoyed the sunset cruise. Our first ever stay at a Taj property.

Our only complaint- we were initially given a room in the smoking wing. But manager worked hard to find us another room that suited our needs. Luxury experience from welcome ceremony on arrival to the departure gift when I left. Extremely comfortable but very smart lounge and bar areas. I ate in 3 different dining options and in each the food was fabulous. The swimming pool is a real winner with its fabulous infinity view. Gardens and terraces are well maintained. We stayed here for 5 nights as a family of 2 adults and 2 teens. This hotel was perfect for us, lovely location looking out over the interesting harbour. The room was clean, comfortable and had a powerful shower. The decor of the hotel is very tasteful. mingling the historical heritage of the region with the modern. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, everyone is very polite and friendly, nothing is too much to ask and they help with everything you can think of - directions to the ferry terminal, where to get a sari blouse stitched, put me in touch with a local charity to give a donation to, and so on.

The food in the in-house restaurants is lovely, we ate in both Pepper and Dolphin Point. The Dolphin Point grill is an experience not to be missed.

Finally the pool are is perfect, clean and the boys really enjoyed it. I also made use of the hair salon in the spa which was good too.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough and we certainly hope to come back.

Really nice hotel and staff are great. The hotel could be modernised as the decor seems to be dated and from colonial India. The hotel should seek to clean the water around the hotel as there is quite a lot of waste in it. The view is unpleasant from the rice boat restaurant given the amount of waste in the water

Seriously lacking in facilities, poor location

Just returned today. Somewhat disappointing. Room (junior suite) was well appointed but furniture tired - sofa heavily worn for example and bathroom fittings past their best. View of container port opposite, not really \"holiday\" more \"waiting for ferry\". Swimming pool OK but small and unheated. Bar by pool never open. Spa so-so. Shop on site has no food (no sweets, ice cream etc) just gifts. Grounds non existant - just a lawn that was used 3 nights of our stay for wedding and engagement parties. Nothing to walk around and nothing to walk to as miles from anything. We booked three excursions via the concierge - watch them - two of them didn't match up with what was discussed but much ringing of hands afterwards and suggestion that it was exactly what we'd agreed went on - and was billed in full. Not sure the buffet was always fresh - we saw the same things come out three meals running on a few items, and also \"renamed\" dishes for dinner that were identical to others served for lunch, but with a different title. Prices in hotel very \"westernised\" - bottles of water at 10x max retail price printed on neck - that sort of thing. Staff all very pleasant and polite though overall not a patch on other Taj properties we've stayed in New Delhi or Cape Town.

Lovely civilzed way to spend Christmas

The room we booked was not suitable for 2 adults & 2 kids (not babies), even though that's what I booked for, so why Expedia could not have spelled that out to me in advance I'm not sure (or the hotel itself). However there was no issue upgrading to a suite for an additional fee.

Food was amazing. Buffet style breakfast, lunch & dinner. Fantastic choice & quality. Christmas gala was fun (even though it's kind of like a wedding you don't want to go to!) Kids loved dancing all night.

Pool was great. Staff were all good. Esp. house keeping staff who also deliver nightly chocolates :) I liked that the tour desk didn't push you to buy expensive packages off them & even directed me to local public ferry & local drivers.

Hotel provides a free sunset cruise on the backwaters which is a fantastic way to see sunset at the Chinese fishing nets. Pre this is some gratis tea & snacks which is very civilised.

Overall very nice even if I was trying to avoid Christmas!

Vivanta Taj like the other Taj hotels lives up to its reputation of the wonderful Taj hospitality. The staff are very attentive to the needs of the guests and the property is well maintained.The river view from the hotel is enchanting. It is situated on the Willingdon Island and is away from the tourist hustle and bustle but comuting does pose a problem during rush hours. The buffet breakfast was very good and caters to different tastes,and the dinner that we ordered thru room service was excellent. They organise a nice evening tea on the lawns before the river cruise and serve interesting snacks. Infact as we had a early morning flight, they were kind enough to give us a lovely packed breakfast. All in all we had a lovely stay and would recommend it to discerning travelers.

Only downside is the rate of taxi fare charged by hotel is very high. For just a 2 kms ride hotel charged 2k which is exorbitant..Malls and Other outlets are 1 hour drive away. Apart from this perfect hotel for vacay meant for relaxation and quiet...We stayed at the Heritage wing, room was quite big...Another minute shortfall was the minibar, which had very minimalist menu...

A definite place to stay in Kochi.

This stay at Taj Vivanta Kochi was my 5th hotel of my 4 weeks round India work. It was the best hotel overall - across every key parameter. From welcome to departure was excellent. Chef and bar staff went out of their way to provide a range of snacks and food not on the menu -mix and match dishes if one could not eat the full normal portion (which I find impossible to finish even half). Overall, the ambience, the place, staff and service deserves very high ranking even amongst their own chain. We wished we had two more days in our schedule just to chill at this place.

Fantastic hotel, exceptional staff and hospitality

Booked this trip for a 60th birthday celebration and couldn't have asked for a better stay. The hospitality by the staff blew us away. They went over and beyond to ensure we had a great time.
Very grateful to the team at Taj Cochin. A must stay when in Kerala.

Good hotel

Good comfy stay. Very friendly staff. Arranged a wonderful village cruise for me. Property shows sign of ageing a bit but service more than makes up for it. Sea view room has fantastic views of the venbenadu lake & Bay.

Staff made every effort to make our stay wonderful and succeed.
Food in all the restaurants excellent.

Will go back to this wonderful hotel at first opportunity.
