Disappointing. I'd just left another upscale hotel and the service here was simply not up to the same level. Not as friendly and simply focused on up selling add ons to you. I paid extra for breakfast but was then charged for bottled water! Can you believe that? Worse it was delivered covertly \"water sir\"? Of course thinking it was free.
The reception also called the room each day to try and sell spa services. The first time they rang twice and the when I declined they hung up instantly.. No okay or goodbye.. It shows their priorities.

The resort is away from Kochi with little convenience around the property. We found the restuarant to be limited for 3 meals a day and the prices were quite high.

Firstly, a luxury room was expected to have a bathtub in the bathroom. It was shown in the pics on Expedia but this is available only in a Presidential suite. This was not expected at all.
The room 314 had absolutely no sound proofing. The objective of booking a luxury room was to unwind and relax. Howeve, the folks in the adjacent room were very noisy from 7 am itself. I understand some guests have kids but we could literally hear all conversations in the other room.

A Sad excuse for a 5 Star hotel
Firstly, do not expect a 5 star hotel experience. Starting from the lobby, the disappointment begins. The furnishings and finish of the lobby is not good.

Ramada Kochi is one of the beat properties in Kochi. The stay was good. But the room I got dint have a view at all. My window opened to a car parking and even though there were many rooms vacant. Otherwise it was a great experience.

We'd deliberately booked the Luxury Lake View Room and not one of the Cottages because we'd liked the decor of the former better, in the pictures we saw online. However, the pictures were unfortunately misleading with images of the Presidential Suite mixed with the others and raising our expectations a bit too highWe asked the Ramada staff to be more mindful of these things because plenty of people book through these sites and their pics are the only reference
We also happened to be staying at the hotel during peak wedding season in India. 2 weddings..lots of noise. One of the wedding parties had booked the Presidential Suite right next to us and had loud, drunken \"conversations\" and brawls until really late in the night. Some warning about the noise would have been good - these guests had been staying here multiple days..so if they'd been anywhere as loud as they were our first night there, the staff should've known about it. The escalating noise situation was also quite poorly managed by the hotel security. Other guests got into heated sweary arguments with the guests in the Presidential Suite.
All in all, not bad. But those issues put a dampner on an otherwise pleasant stay

-the rooms are freezing cold and you can’t control the temperature
-the ‘hottest’ temperature setting on the shower is just barely warm enough for a comfortable shower
-fungus and mould in some areas of the shower
-the shower does not drain properly so within seconds you’re standing in a puddle of water which leaks out onto the entire bathroom floor
-terrible Wifi
-the breakfast restaurant, Fennel, was very cold -the service at Fennel overall was friendly but just incredibly poor; food had to be sent back, wrong orders brought to us, the simplest of items took way too long to be prepared, requests were frequently forgotten or neglected
-the staff are not properly trained; trying to coordinate a spa appointment or get answers to everyday type questions took hours
-often we would try calling the front desk during business hours and nobody answers
-without any advanced notice, there were numerous restaurant closures
the staff in general are just not well informed, trained, or coordinated...it felt like every person working here it was their first day. Again, not saying they weren’t friendly or that they didn’t try, we just observed a much lower expected standard...it’s clear the management does not truly care about or have a passion for hospitality

We are tourists and when we go to a resort for some time out we do not expect to be told that the bars will not serve alcohol because the government has banned sales of alcohol during the elections. WE SHOULD BE EXEMPT. We should be able to present our passport and have exemption from such a crazy rule. It effects tourism.
My wife slipped and fell over on a wet slippery floor. She bumped her head and had to liue down for afew hours resting and recuperating. There were no signs to say floor cleaning in progress to warn of possible slippery floors. This dramaticaly impacted our evaluation of this resort.

Really, the only downside is that it is some distance from attractions you would want to visit, necessitating transport everywhere but, in a way, that's also a strength. Its a beautiful location and very well maintained- the pictures genuinely reflect how it is. Restaurants provide good quality and choice; staff very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Our stay at Ramada Kochi was relaxing and restorative. While there is no beach, the pool is beautiful and the view of the river ever-changing. The food was delicious and while the meal preparation was a little bit slow, it was, in the end, worth the wait.
The staff are all very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome.
It was disappointing that there were no kayaks available and that the evening boat rides were not able to be enjoyed due to boat maintenance during our stay. But other than that it was a lovely experience and I would recommend it to others. There are many daytrips available to go and see the surrounding areas.
NOTE: Do not go to the Elephant Training centre as it is extremely unpleasant. While the elephants appear to get enough to eat, they are all chained to trees or posts and are not able to move about. One particular elephant was obviously ill and suffering and two were head weaving which is a sign of distress and mental anguish. These elephants are not rescued, they are captured and not treated well or humanely.
The staff are all very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome.

Nice hotel but approx 40 minutes outside of Fort Cochi. Facilities very good as you would expect for a 5*. Beautiful pool and gardens. Food and drinks were good but about 3 times as much as elsewhere in Cochi, and there isn't anywhere else close by to go. (Our food and drink bill was more than the cost of the room for 2 nights but that did include 4 alcoholic drinks- be warned)! Reception staff were rubbish. We asked to pay extra and keep our room longer as we had a night flight. They promised to organise this but it took 4 visits to the desk to sort, and even tried to charge us more on check out. Nice if you want to stay out of the centre of town and sunbathe but not a great base for exploring.

A lovely hotel in beautifully kept grounds, comfortable room with a view of the backwater. The restaurant is very good, staff were very helpful. It was nice to be able to enjoy a beer or two which you can't do in most hotels here.

We spent a night at this resort and i must say the experience was underwhelming. It is a beautiful property with a luxurious pool. The food at the restaurants was pretty good too.
Some negatives:
1. We ordered room service and it took over an hour for them to bring 2 dishes when i was told the food would be there in 20 minutes.
2. The internet seemed spotty and not available at all parts of the resort.
3. We went to the restaurant for breakfast and ordered a la carte and had to wait over an hour for breakfast. After an hour and a half the waiter brings the check and never brought a dish that we ordered. Not sure how he missed the dish when he repeated the order twice to confirm.
4. We wanted to sit down at the restaurant by the water and order a drink and were told by the waiter we would have to order food if we wanted to sit there. He recommended we order the drink in the room. The restaurant was practically empty with 2 tables occupied.
5. Our room was right next to the pantry and there was lot of noise and disturbance.
6. Water in the shower was luke warm.
We stayed at some really good resorts on our stay in kerala, but this one left a bad taste. The resort needs to step up their game to compete with the other resorts in the area.
Overall, if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation, this is a beautiful property, but if you are looking for good service and a luxurious experience, this is not the resort for you.

Pool was outstanding, would stay just for the pool. Room was nice. Food was good, like most hotels the staff was eager to please, and like most cannot truly speak any English.
In my opinion this is the reason for most poor reviews, poor communication.

There is no beach in the \"beach resort\"
Over rated and a classic \"bait and swap\" deal. Pictures draw you in to this \"Beach Resort\" but there is NO beach.
My room had termites and there was a small pile of dry wood pellets accumulating each day. I had to complain 3 times before house keeping did something about it.
We had to sign up for this mandatory Christmas gala, but there were no vegetarian dishes, so that was disappointing.
Breakfast buffet is good.

location, location, location
If you're the kind of person that likes to spend every day of your holiday in the hotel complex and never step foot outside, then this is the hotel for you.
The resort is located on the south end of Kumbalam, which is at least 45 minutes in a taxi to anywhere of interest. If you don't have breakfast included, you can't just pop outside the hotel to get one, there's nothing around you for at least a mile. Getting a taxi to have your breakfast can become tiresome very quickly. If you want to have breakfast in the hotel (which is very good) then it'll cost you a further 7 quid or so each. This is an enormous amount when you can get a three course meal with drinks for 2 in Fort Kochi for 8 quid.
The staff working there are absolutely brilliant and could not have done enough for us. We had a couple of issues with rooms (1 freezing at all times, 1 next to the lift machinery) and we were kindly upgraded to one of the cottage rooms, which were wonderful. if you're thinking of going to the hotel, it's worth paying a bit more for these rooms.
The hotel itself lacked a little atmosphere and this may have been due to the lack of guests. For the first 2 days, we only saw one other family and the staff outnumbered guests by about 10-1.
Be aware that the hotel hosts a lot of events and these can be very noisy. One day, they were filming a movie in the grounds, which generated a lot of noise, but it was quite interesting to watch.

No hot water in the bathroom. English Victorian rules on women's clothing around the pool area, when men can wear just trunks. i.e, covered upper arms and legs. Very thin walls between bedrooms. Bedrooms are very much in need of modernisation. Bar is good and personal service is excellent. Friendly staff. Pool area is very nice with a good view.

Electricity got disconnected a few times. There was a wedding which was loud. There's only one elevator which got out of service on my last day and till I left it wasn't fixed. Service and staff are great though.

a beautiful place
We initially booked for the luxury room and after visiting the hotel and seeing the lake view cottage, we moved to the cottage because of its lake & pool view balcony, little over 50% extra but its worth it. the only confusing part is the luxury room with lake view balcony and the much superior Cottage with lake view balcony costs the same as per the receptionist.
The place is very well maintained, the rooms are neat, staffs are very friendly, service is excellent.

Rooms have an age old central digital control system for all the lights, Aircon and fan and it goes rouge sometimes, room would light up to its full glory in the middle of the night if you increase the AC fan speed.
We got locked out of the room couple of times but the support staffs were quick to respond.
