Berjaya’s prime location on Beau Vallon's main beach and its spacious facility are definite advantages, complemented by friendly staff. It’s one of the most strategic stays in Mahé island. However, cleanliness, particularly in the bathrooms and the shared \"refreshing room,\" lacks proper sanitation between guests. The kitchen's poor ventilation causes unpleasant odours to permeate the guest rooms corridors. The hotel needs to improve the vents and insulation.

We like the property and have stayed here many times, but this time we found many faults eg on arrival the tv wasn't working one of the remotes was missing the safe was broken had to fix it, the spar had Alge coming out of the jets
then the power went out as there was a short in the spa
It went on and on. usually we have some faults but this time it was a litany of faults . This time one plus was the only time we had hot water all the time . We stayed at the HENNESSY hotel in MAURITUS and we could not fault it, and it was a 4 star hotel. We doubt we will stay at Berjaya again , pity as the beach and the property surrounds make for a great stay

The hotel is a decent place to stay and inexpensive compared to other places, however it is by no means cheap.
A few annoying things: even though there are two people checking in the room, they give you only one key. They had to actually cut out an extra key for me at the price of SCR 150(abt USD 20, no refund upon return of the key).
There are no elevators - the 2 flights of stairs in the scorching heat was quite something. When climbing up the said stairs there are nice picture glass windows but they are dirty, which is really bad as this is the first impression of the hotel you get as you go up to your room. All in all, our stay was pleasant. The girls at the reception desk were very courteous and helpful; especially as our luggage had gone astray in the airline system. The room service was good. The bed was comfortable. Out of the 3 restaurants, two of them were very good but expensive. The pizzeria resto was not especially good. The busboys at reception were very helpful to carry our luggage up and down the infernal stairs.
Would I go back to stay there one day? Yes, I would!!!

Early Arrival was confusing and not secure. Luggage was I tagged and stored in a common closet that anyone could access. After sitting in unoccupied beach chairs for 90 minutes, we were asked by hotel security to vacate chairs for guests who had “reserved” them by placing clean unopened towels on each one. Sand was kicked on me from head to toe by a guest who claimed to have “tripped”. No WiFi or TV in room although IT was contacted

We aarived at this resort on 2 Jan 2020 and stayed for 5 days the reception area was very outdated with so old sofa and furniture that you you sink in it wet smelly and dirty the smell of bathroom filled the reception area Rooms are so uncomfirtable thst yiu say is it possibke fir the money i paid??? You paid for resort stay but no balcony at all, uncomfirtable and very old bed and towels to its last thrras falling apart The breakfasr buffeh was nit hygene at all, , cheapest ald lowest quality of cheese bread and other items food looks lije left over from last night buffe, not enought fruit just few cuts of orange, consider yiu hsbe paid a good amount of money to enjoy tropical resort The beach was full of broken glasses , you had to be very careful where you are stepping. They shoukd close this horribke hotel resort immediately, there is nothing there that yiu feel even a 2 star hotel. Do not waste yiur money and effort flying to this rotten place

The double deluxe room I booked turned out to be a chalet away from the main building which didn't look like the photos and did not have a bath tub. It was nice but made it inconvenient as I was separated from my friend who was in a standard room, and made movement difficult when it rained. Also, the room walls are so thin, I could hear all the sounds and snoring from the next room. Something should really be done about that. The pool also closes too early. Otherwise, no other complain. The room was clean, and service was good and prompt and location was excellent. I was I would stay there again.

Sun bed cushion's need urgently replacing, all split, torn and generally could be classed as health hazard. Pool towels thread bare. A majority of staff could do customer service service training and be customer focussed. Noisy in rooms on first & second floor.Buffet
breakfast was okay nothing special, took long time to replenished items, staff slow and blunt. Good points nice beach front location and lovely sandy beach. Chinese restaurant excellent.

This hotel was a nightmare from hell, staff are very unhelpful, everything is outdated old look like a hospital maternity ward of 1940s built
It’s best stay well clear of this hotel, there’s no management in place in this hotel as nobody knows what’s happening.
Even on the day of arrival they were very unprofessional as we arrived at 2pm they kept us waiting for an hour before they allocated the room and none made us feel welcome or help with the luggages

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. I understand that it is one of the least expensive hotels in the area (I can say that the location is the only positive aspect), but it is also the oldest hotel and this is very apparent from the lobby, the restaurant and the rooms; they are all extremely outdated and dirty. In our room there was sand on the floor, hairs, cockroaches, ants and all the walls are paper thin so everyone can hear everything from your neighbors and in the hallway. The service is the worst, not only are staff not helpful, but they are also rude. I would never stay again, much better to get an airbnb or pay a little more for something decent.

Beauty of outside compensates for indside.

This is the third time for us in this hotel/resort. We give the hotel an average to poor rating for the rooms and the beds.The service is slow but with patience they will get there. The breakfast is ok but here as well patience and finally they will bring new glasses and refill whatever is finished. We would go again for the great beach and the nice pool. And there is the exellent diving school \"Seychelles Underwater Centre\" and not to forget the hotel is one of the cheapest in Beau Vallon. Our kids just love it there. We would go there again for the price we paid.

The air conditioner was noisy and the building itself seems to be quite old. When i reached at the hotel on the check in night , most of the food was nearly over in the parrot restaurant which was open buffet. As i took half board it was written in my hotel details that i had to take voucher at reception by noon to eat at the other restaurants. The next day i went to work from the hotel and returned around 6 pm which means that it is impossible for me to take the voucher for other restaurants. When i check out the guys at the front office were really nice and helpful. i think the hotel should now be equiped with a passenger lift in year 2019. the hotel's yard on the seaside view is very limited. In Mauritius at the price which Berjaya charged me per night , we get an al inclusive at around 9000 Mauritian rupees per night. THe seaside also should have been more attractive in front of the hotel but i was much disappointed.

For a nation whose economy is dependent on tourism, I really did expect a bit more customer service oriented approach from the staff. As individuals they were nice, once engaged, but we felt like we were intruding on their work day at the resort. We had issues every day, while each one was relatively minor, and let’s face it, stuff happens, the issues stacked up during our stay. We were early for the 1400 check in, not a problem as that was on us and we were told to return at 1330. We grabbed some lunch and returned at 1400 only to wait another 20 minutes. Then the AC did not work in our room and after waiting for an hour for it to “kick in” we had to go to the front desk. They did send a repairman by quickly and the issue was resolved. But it took hours for our room to become comfortable. We had to ask for our laundry back twice (after waiting for 24 hours) before we got it back and some clothes were mixed up. One day housekeeping didn’t leave any towels at all and we had to ask for towels twice before any were delivered. At dinner I politely mentioned to the server that we had been waiting for over 30 minutes for our food he shook his head “no.” We were one of two tables in that dining area. Then I watched the staff discuss our ticket, which had obviously been overlooked. There are more things that happened, but not enough space to list them here.

From start to finish a disappointing experience. A fairly efficient checking in procedure without much friendliness, to a mediocre room looking out over a dilapidated roof, a tv which to operate requires an IT degree, breakfast which takes your hunger away but fails miserably to please the taste buds, a reception and Lounge area which probably has received no uplift over the past 20 years to a beach area without much supervision and loungers to enjoy, the entire experience was certainly overpriced and better forgotten.

The hotel although a little tired and in need of a little TLC is perfectly ok, the rooms are a good size and the beds are huge and comfy. The bedding was nice and soft. The food was great I just wish that the staff at the restaurants would make you feel much more welcome. The only issue with this hotel is the restaurant staff to be honest; you always felt like a burden because they always looked sick of you and like you have to pay gold for a smile of a “good morning”. The hotel beach is beautiful and the hotel facilities are great, plenty of choice for lunch around the beach if you’re staying half board.

The hotel is old. There are no elevators so bringing luggage upstairs to the second floor which is the highest floor is a hassle but the staff usually helps bring your luggage up the stairs. Common areas of the hotel like the lobby, restaurants, and lounge area do not have AC. There is only AC in the rooms. They publicize a casino but it’s only really two or 3 crap/ poker tables. The casino room is stuffy and smells of old carpet. They have three restaurants but the food and service isn’t great. The buffet breakfast spread is good, they have a variety of options. They have a shuttle bus that goes to town once in the morning. With the amount of guests that stay at the hotel there should be more than one van and they should offer more than one departure time. The bus gets crowded so if you don’t reserve in advance you are out of luck. The hotel was one of the affordable ones in seychelles but If I were to go again I would spend a little more and stay at a different hotel that’s worth it.

Awful hotel. Blood on bed sheets. Mould in bathroom. Have pictures to show how filthy.
No towels for the beach, in fact waited 45 minutes for the towels to be ready first thing in the morning. Staff seem disengaged.
Overall it seems to be a poorly led organisation where low levels of service is tolerated.
On a positive note, the chef Pavan was fantastic, excellent attitude and had the culinary skills to match. Feedback left with hotel prior to checkout but I expect platitudes.

Well, firstly you need to keep in mind that this is the comparatively the cheapest property at Beau Vallon and its better to keep your expectations within limit. My review is based on that limited expectation. Though the ratings could have been better but the I am extremely disappointed with the attitude and behavior of the front office (reception staffs). Firstly, the entire check-in process is mostly managed though hotel management trainees (well, there's nothing wrong it that apart from the fact that they are not yet well trained to do the job). I have requested earlier for a ground floor/twin bed chalet. On handing the keys, was confirmed the same but to my surprise the villa was on higher floor with a small king bed in place. On requesting to provide the one as assured, the straight answer comes from them \"sorry all our rooms are booked, we cannot help you further\". The attitude of the manager is even disturbing, seems there is an instruction from top of being rude and not to smile to your customers. I could see practically there are empty rooms, the room service boys confirming the fact, but you get a fixed answer from the reception staffs, even our request for late check-out was refused knowing I am having 1 child and an infant.
Apart from that, the hotel is old with signs of wear all around but to be frank they have tried to maintain basic facilities. The beach is good, but now very swimmable as the water is not clean and existence of plenty of sea weeds on the shore

Pool is dirty ,the reception staff cant be bothered wit the simplest thing,buffet is a disaster by all means,better eat on the restaurant by the beach or out but def don pay for half or full board,room is disaster,we had view on some metal roof top,its fallin apart,toilet door wouldn even close.
The value of the money u pay in here,expect nothin better than quarter that budget n i mean it,the wifi doesnt stay connected for 5min n its unusable for more than texts,we asked for an iron and they brought us one that had some burned substance on it and then they changed it ,dunno hw its a 4 star hotel,the public facilities r even fallin apart ,the beach chairs r broken n couches in reception r torn apart ,it is a disaster hotel,i would avoid at all costs in future.Dont let this hotel ruin yr vacation in such a beautiful place.

Below Par Hotel Next to a Beautiful Beach!!

To start with the hotel was beautiful on the outside and somewhat ok on the inside. We were not greeted by any staff or anyone at all in the reception area. There were about 3 staff members behind the front desk and no one smiled or greeted us. After a 16+ hours of travel time to get to Seychelles, we were not greeted by anyone, kinda made us feel unwelcoming to this resort. One of the three staff members acknowledged us as we got to the desk. The staff member was kinda rude, no smile or kind gestures as we checked in. After the awful and no smiles at the front desk, we got to our room. Room is nice, clean and large, did not spend much time in the room. The beach next to the resort was spectacular. Only thing that was great about this hotel is that it's sitting next to a lovely beach, quiet beach. Ocean water is crystal clear and beautiful weather while we were there. Food at the resort was about sub par, nothing really that great. There about five different cuisines to choose from. Some staff members seem either not wanting to be there or does not enjoy working there. Some of the waiters or waitresses who served us, did not crack a single smile. I would only recommend this resort only for the beach.

Rated as 4.5 stars on hotel.com, barely a 3 star. Service was terrible, extremely slow and sometimes rude. Room was as per the photo, could do with an update. Cleanliness needs to be improved. Wifi across the resort was poor, we were not able to connect as there were too many people connected to it! On weekends, locals visit the resort which means is gets extremely busy. Service and space around the pool/beach becomes very limited. Location was the biggest attraction andthis was the only highlight. Situated on Beau Vallon beach, other resorts are easy to walk to along the beach with restaurants nearby.

The hotel was nice enough. I arrived much earlier than check-in time, but they had a room with two twin beds ready to go so I took it. I desperately needed a shower and a nap after my night flight. My two complaints were that there were no lamps—Ceiling light or no light—and no elevator. On the positive side, they provided a room to shower in after I checked out on my last day so I could clean up for my evening flight home after spending the day enjoying the beaches. The street market down the beach had some great inexpensive food options.

The hotel desperately needs an update, wear and tear is visible on nearly every step. It's got a weird layout and it required going all around the hotel to get to our room. The food is expensive and awful ... generally produce is low quality and is really badly made (only 3 times they had fresh buns during 2 week stay, the carbonara I had was sweet etc). After having 2 dinners at the hotel we decided to completely avoided then and ate out. The had really weird rules for beach towels where you had to sign in and out daily, the loungers weren't prepared on the beach and every day we had to drag the to the beach. The hotel was making extra money by letting out the hotel grounds for private functions (there were 4 whilst we've been there) it was done in a very distrupted way which us feel less welcome.
The reception staff was borderline rude and smug they clearly favoured the German speaking guests which was just impolite.
All in all it left a very unpleasant feel about this hotel if it wasn't for the beautiful beach and superb dive centre on site it would be a total waste.

The trip was excellent including the service at various Restaurants specially Anil at the Pizzeria.

We've booked a twin bed room .... They've let us walk all the way to the room and then we found out it's a 1 king bed room will our luggage ,,,, then we went back to the desk they've told us( yes we are sorry that there are no twin bed room available at the moment ! )
They could have explained it from the beginning!
So we've asked them to return all our luggage and we shall wait for the twin bed room ...

Premium location, but not a luxury hotel

The hotel is nice enough for simple comfortable vacation, but it is not a place I would recommend to take someone to impress them or spend your honeymoon. A plus is that the hotel is next to Mahe's most popular beach and with a few minutes walk north along the sand you can find local stands selling from fruits, coconuts 35-50 rupees to fresh fish BBQ at 75 rupees. A taxi from the airport will charge you about $40 euros. The hotel offers a good breakfast buffet and a dinner at one of the hotel restaurants will cost you about $30-35 dollars a person. The room was dated with old carpet and furniture, but the bed was comfortable.

I stayed here for 4 nights and I was happy with the service that I paid for. I am not sure what the fuss and negative comments are about from others. I think for the price I paid compared to the other hotels, the service was reasonable. Josette the manager was really kind and very helpful and very trust worthy.
The standard rooms aren't so great but we was upgraded to superior for free which was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the easy access to the beach and the live bands at night. Overall I am happy with my choice.

The italian restaurant is good, the buffet, japan and chinese restaurant is terrible. The room is very dirty, I found the cockroach in the room. I asked them to change my bedsheet but they did not do it.

Average condition hotel but a very good location

Pros:
Great location, 4 restaurants, very good breakfast, nice pool, next to the beach, close to cash plus and shops.
Cons: bathroom towels - every day a struggle for towels, room cleaning service not quite speedy and detailed, If someone from the hotel ever reads this: do not give early arrivals \"complimentary breakfast\" in a form of outside seperate table with lousy croissant and a coffee, how much would it cost you to let us in to a regular breakfast? Nothing! This way you lower our opinion about you on the first day - its called customer experience.

I wouldn't go back.

It is definitely not like the pictures!
Some of the staff were very helpful but most of them were unhappy and just lacked care.
The facilities are average, if not rather dirty. I had to complain about the toilets in reception - there was no tissue, soap and had faeces smeared up the wall. The staff were not particularly worried about this.. The location was fantastic and the beach is beautiful.

Excelent stay!

We stayed 3 nights at the end of May - standard double room. Our room near the end of row, first floor (service staircase was accessible), looking to the main entrance (a nice garden). It was very quiet (some friends were not lucky - they had very loudly neighborhood) and clean, with a very comfy bed. The ratio quality/price was very good. The food was good, the service very good.
We will return here sometimes!

BELIEVE ALL THE BAD REVIEWS ON THIS HOTEL

I normally don't bother with bad reviews as I think some people complain just for the sake of it but please believe all the bad reviews about Berjaya. The staff, apart from housekeeping, are all lovely and the food in the restaurants especially the Japanese is great but if you are used to anything even half decent do not go here. I would especially not recommend this if it is for a special occasion holiday or honeymoon. The housekeeping is unacceptable and I NEVER complain on holiday. Every single day of our holiday we had to go to reception as something was missing or not done. Floors were not swept crumbs lay on the floor for nearly a week and we had to ask 3 times for our bed sheets to be changed and this was after 8 days of our holiday. The mirrors and glass were dirty when we arrived and were not cleaned the whole time we were there. Small things but cleanliness is important. The best advice I would give to anyone who wants to go to Beau Vallon is pick a different hotel avoid Berjaya at all costs. There are lots of lovely guest houses and villas in the area or pay the extra £100 or so to get a better hotel especially if this is your first tropical holiday.

I stayed for only 1 night because of the early departure next morning and also the existence of facility of Casino after passing wonderful holidays at The H resort(5star) located just next to the Hotel.
Even if I did not expect much about the hotel but the general condition of the hotel was so poor. I think it doesn't have a value of 4 star hotel. It could be 3 or 3.5 star hotel. If you 're looking for casino, don't go there. The casino is very old and small, besides that there are none of slot machine working, which are all out of order and discarded around wall.

close to beach is about it...

The hotel is well located right on Beau Vallon beach. It is in varying states of refurbishment. For instance the bathrooms (in the rooms) have been redone - but not the rooms themselves.

The level of service (or lack of it) is terrible. Apart from the front counter staff no one appears to care you are there. In several instances (e.g. towel counter at pool or the beach bar) no on was there at all!

Perfect location!! Hotel should not be 4 n'half *

Where to begin...To be honest, I first wanted to do a long and detailed review but I actually don't want to put anymore effort in to an experience which was so disappointing. I cannot express how frustrated me and my husband became towards the end of our 2 week trip to Seychelles, Mahe. We booked for our honeymoon/1 Year Anniversary so you can imagine much searching for the perfect holiday we done. Unfortunately we was mislead and in all honesty this hotel should not be 4 and a half*. The rooms are dated, they don't get cleaned properly, food was not consistent, staff do not do their job properly you call reception 10 times and still you have to go down there to try get assistance, your bed sheets don't get changed we had to ask and even then they did not change the pillowcases (note; these things are standard in a 4 and a half*, bird poo all around the balcony, the stairs leading up to our room was like the dumping ground which was not pleasant it would build up everyday, condition of the rooms are very dated and again not 4 and a half* standard, the price of food and quality will make you laugh the list could go on. I will upload pictures but please listen to reviews, I always put it down to \"maybe they had a bad experience\" but no this hotel really needs to be stripped of its stars so people who pay big money are not mislead in the future. Luckily me and my husband made the most of just being with each other on a beautiful island and didn't let it dictate our holiday.

COULD BE BETTER

We had to wait two hours before we could have our room....we arrived 3pm (check in is 2pm)...the lock on the door was broken....3 guys to fix it.....to be fair, they compensated us by allowing us to keep our room until 4pm on check out............front desk is chaos except for FRANCOISE who is a very helpful lady who knows her job unlike the others
The rooms are tired and outdated....the bathroom was terrible....filthy window.....shower curtain disgusting....safe didn't work....Wi-Fi didn't work....bad smell of curry on balcony......drinks are very very expensive 125 SCR for a beer
On a plus.....food is very good.....the staff in the restaurants are very good.....we got sky sports in the room.....the bed was large and comfy.....the pool is clean 3metres deep......best of all is the beach with clean shallow water

Enjoyable!

The facility was nice, breakfast was enjoyable, however dinner was okay however, not as expected for the $.
The hotel staff was wonderful and made our stay very nice! Bed was a bit too firm but we slept. The facility is maintained but could use some modern updating,

Upon arriving around 11am on 7may2017 rm264, I found what appeared to be blood on the hotel walls in the hallway to my room. Once at the room it looked and smelled like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. The furniture in the lobby smelled like urine. I was there all of five minutes and returned the keys and requested check out as I was not staying there a minute more. at a filthy hotel were rest and being comfortable was not an option. I immediately left and will never return.

Great place to stay, highly recommend.

What can I say? This hotel is one of the best places to stay in the Seychelles in my opinion. The beach is on your door step (one the cleanest beaches I have ever been to), the rooms are air conditioned, the food at breakfast had wide selection of hot and cold foods with chef making omelettes to order. We tried the tepanyaki one night which was well cooked and entertaining to watch (I used to live in Asia so I know good quality). But the thing that made our stay great was the staff. The reception staff were friendly (especially Marise), always wanting to help us to make our stay more comfortable. The barman at the beach bar was very professional and made good conversion for the 2 weeks we were there.

The only thing if you want to be picky is the internet can sometimes be a little slow when in your room when there are many people staying at the hotel, but in the dining room and reception areas it is fine. Bottom line you are there to relax and enjoy the beauty of Seychelles not be on social media and checking work emails.

Berjaya Hotel Beau Vallon

Great location. Virtually on the beach. Sparkling pool. Good breakfast variety. Eating at restaurants on the premises is pricey. Reception and security staff very helpful. WiFi works only in the lobby.
