After a day out in the heat the hotels pool was great for an afternoon refresh. We enjoyed the quality food in the restaurant of an evening and the air conditioner together with a separate dehumidifer made time in the room comfortable.

One of the staff in the restaurant was very rude. She said she they were under-staffed and seemed to take her anger out on us.
The food was good.
The rooms are nice, although starting to feel a little tired. It feels like the place needs a refresh. But it was clean and comfortable.
The guest wifi is hopeless, constantly dropping out. It was really frustrating.

Rooms are a great size. Such a bonus to be able to spread our suitcases out on the floor.
The staff were very polite but i must admit not all of them looked very happy, it was hard to spot a smile, maybe it's because its the end of the session and done of them are a bit tired.
The pool was lovely with pool towels supplied.
We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was superb, I'd definitely recommend this.

The outdoor areas of the hotel are looking run down. It’s a shame that security cannot be guaranteed in the car park. We had a boat and were advised to remove most of our contents of value. It is timely that consideration be given to an option for safe storage of items like boats overnight etc. The restaurant service was ok, however the food was lovely, as it was when we stayed in late April 2025. Check in was friendly and helpful.

Wanted to eat lunch poolside and were told this wasn’t allowed - when the menu is basic burgers this seems bizarre

Comfortable base for Kakadu

This was a great place to stay while exploring Kakadu! The room was super clean, comfy, and spacious, which was fantastic given that it was necessary to return to the room during the hottest hours of the day. The restaurant was lovely, it was easy to get a good coffee drink first thing in the morning, the amenities were great, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel to stay in with all the facilities travellers could need including the nice dining room, air-con of course, and the onsite undercover pool. Great facility for the town and visitors - it is an attraction in itself with fantastic architecture and beautiful indigenous art displays.

We’ve stayed here a few times over the years - for the middle of nowhere it is fine but that’s it. More like a large motel.

Old and dated rooms - poor service - in desperate need of repair and maintenance.

We stayed for two nights and then moved to Cooinda Lodge which was much better!

A Highway motel at hotel prices - but they charge you as they’re the only option there! Embarrassing for the Mercure brand!

The Croc, as the locals call it, has been standing there in the excessive heat and humidity for a while now, so don't expect everything to be shining new and clean. The rooms are sizable and well furnished. But the bathroom and the \"kitchen\" area (doorway), although both well stocked, are very small hence difficult to use, also in need of a renovation. They could have easily reduced the size of the living area and gave them both some more space. I don't understand why they had to design them so cramped. There's a plug-in flashlight by the bathroom door for night adventures as there's no public lighting beyond the immediate premises of the building. You may find one or two lights in the room are broken too. Maybe due to its remote location, a thorough fix-up is not easily done. The staff members are efficient and very helpful. But seriously understaffed during wet season. Decent in-house restaurant that provides three meals a day (usually continental only in the morning, no full buffet but with a la carte available as well). All in all, apart from the particular shape of the build, pretty standard.

A small swimming pool in the courtyard, convenient and good for socialising. But you don't have to be restricted to it. Just some 200m away is the town's public swimming pool which only costs $5 per entry and it's a hidden gem! You simply have to check it out. The only place to be in the unbearable arvo heat.

The room was clean and comfortable. One minor criticism was that the temperature control was locked at 22 degrees and the room could have been a bit cooler for our comfort. Also I emptied the dehumidifier 3 times in our short stay. The air conditioner could have minimized that effort. Also the cockatoos made a heck of a racket both in the evening and in the morning. I would NOT expect the hotel to do anything about that.

Room was clean if not a little worn. Stayed in the tail section. Looked like someone had plucked chooks at the patio tables both mornings with all the bird life that rocked up at night. Restaurant was table service but staff didn't seem to have set sections which caused some confusion and waiting especially around getting the check but they were all friendly.

We had a great 2 night stay, yes it might be a bit tired in areas, but consider how remote this area is and it’s a very nice hotel. Rooms were clean, air cond and dehumidifier all working on arrival. Restaurant food was good, staff lovely and friendly. Stunning area to explore even with limits on what to do in wet season. Hotel pool a bonus and we could park right outside our room.

The hotel restaurant allows only set meals for breakfast $16 and dinner $49, no other options. With just one another restaurant locally you either have to splash out for every meal or go out to another location. The fridge in the room is tiny and doesn't have a freezer section to freeze the iceblocks. The rooms are not serviced daily and you would expect the service when paying $300 /night. On the positive side, the roo was big and spacious and the beds were comfy.

This hotel has seen MUCH better days and was not worth the money. The room was out-dated, with paint peeling off all doors, ring marks on bathroom sinks and lamp shades covered in grubby fingerprints (one lamp which was broken). The shower head was so calcified that water went every direction but down and the fridge sporadically kicked in loudly all throughout the night. The buffet restaurant was good ($50/head per adult) but didn’t offer a huge selection. The buffet breakfast (included in the $388 per night cost) was ok but all hot options had run out at 8:30am and so we had to wait 30 mins for it to be replenished. Honestly, next time I’d camp

Hotel had some issues with the housekeeper and we got our room first at 4.30 pm! During this time we sit hungry in the foyer without food and drinks. Kitchen restaurant was closed. On the end we got keys and voucher for drinks ( small bier ) Rooms were cleaned but overall was dusty, the carpet was filthy next to beds and balcony door broke. This hotel needs a proper renovation. Dinner was from 6pm with a buffet. The food was great but unfortunately already cold. This place is amazing but time stopped 30 years ago and nothing changed since. For this price per night I was expecting clean room and warm food.

When we arrived at 3.00pm to check in the room wasn't ready. Waited around for 45 minutes before finally getting into the room, which was not clean - still had spills of coffee on the bench and floor from the previous occupant. The room wasn't serviced at all on the second last day of our stay. We understand that staffing is a real issue everywhere, but it was a bit disappointing for the price we paid to stay there. The staff were friendly, and the pool area was very nice.

The hotel was great. Restaurant was nice though no alternative other than the buffet.
I was most concerned about the checkin delays. Checkin time is from 3pm. I was delayed unti 4.50pm to checkin as the room had not been cleaned. What made it even more distressing was seeing many many people, uncluding at least three bus loads of people checkin when we were not permitted. The staff kept saying it would be 15 minutes, several times So we waited in the carpark in the heat. Had they said initially it would be 2 hrs We would have gone sight seeing. There response was the previous week they were still checking people in at 6.30. This was said inferring my experience was not so bad. Though really it only made the hotel look even worse to me.

This property is overrated, overpriced and understaffed. Rooms (there were 3 rooms) not ready until after 5pm on arrival.
Next day rooms not serviced at 4pm so just took fresh towels. Last day one room was only half serviced and although management was advised still not completed when housekeeping were finishing.
Breakfast way over priced.
Rubbish round the property not picked up.
Couldn’t get a drink at the bar as there was only one staff member and the line up was over 15 people.
Couldn’t pay by Mastercard when leaving or print out a receipt as their system was not working.
No extra charge for cockroaches though.
Mercure should be ashamed. We have travelled the world and stayed at hotels from 2 stars to 6 stars and this one (although recommended by Getaway) is in the list of the worst for value.
You would be better off staying at the caravan park!
Only shining light was Jamie a staff member.

The hotel entrance creates a good impression. However the rooms, judging by the one we were given, are in urgent need of upgrade and do not offer what one would expect for the cost, even allowing for the relative remoteness of the location. The smorgasbord dinner meals were reasonable but not spectacular. Can't comment on how the hotel compares with its competitors in Jabiru. It may be the best of a mediocre lot, and is expensive.

We were disappointed with our stay. For the amount we paid, beds were not made. Bins were not emptied in our room - we stayed 3 nights and were overflowing by the end of our stay. Towels were dirty and not changed each day. Our dishes (2 cup were used) not cleaned, just turned upside down and put away again. Toilet paper was running on rations as not replaced and nobody in reception to assist. The fridge was tiny so we couldn't keep enough bottled water cold for the next day. Overall the room was dirty.. The pool was nice but we noticed some paper in the bottom which wasnt cleaned up the entire time.. The restuarant didnt cater to children when we were there. Only 3 of everything was provided when we booked and paid for 4 people.. overall very disappointing stay. I understand there isnt much competition in Jabiru but the amount they charge is ridiculous for what is provided.

Nice room, reasonable size, comfortable and clean. Restaurant pretty good although only buffet. Couldn’t have been happier with the service we received with staff going out of their way to help us. Free wifi a bonus. (mobile coverage good.) Better value by far than the sister hotel at Cooinda.

The design of the building and the art centre were unique. The facility is however run down and in need of a thorough clean especially all of the air conditioning vents. Our room was not serviced during our two night stay and after getting back late after a huge day exploring Kakadu we were locked out of our room with no apology for the inconvenience. With the high room rate I was expecting better service.

There arent any other hotel options in Kakadu Park, so this hotel was over priced for an ageing hotel. When I pay over $300 per night I expect my room to be serviced at least once in 4 days. Breakfasts and weekend dinner meals were good but mid week dinners were poor. Service also was poor mid week but improved on the weekend. Kakadu park itself is simply stunning.

Amazing staff, great location

My sister and I stayed here in March for just the one night. As others have mentioned, the rooms, and hotel in general are quite dated, and in need of some love. But our room was clean which for us was the main thing. It was also quite spacious and the bar fridge came in handy for keeping drinks cool for after afternoon hikes.

From check in through to the restaurant and then check out the staff were all super helpful and friendly. When we were there the hotel was very quiet during the day but at night it got busier (still probably only less than 50%), and the onsite restaurant was quite busy for dinner service. Pricing at the restaurant wasn't too bad given it was the only restaurant open in the town.
